It all started with a royal ass-chewing, as everything in Tony’s life seemed to do these days, ever since he had joined the Avengers. Fury was somehow giving a double-barreled glare through just the one eye, pinning each Avenger to their seat in succession.
“What I don’t understand,” he was saying, at a volume that made the metal conference table reverberate, “Is how we can have a team of geniuses, super-spies, and ACTUAL gods, and all of you put together can’t tell me where one little alien magician is hiding? Did I assemble the wrong team?”

Loki has been living invisibly in Avengers Tower for over a year now. Not because he admires the Avengers or anything like that. Certainly not. It's just that it happens to be the safest place in the universe at the moment, what with two Infinity Stones rattling around the branches of Yggdrasil and a Mad Titan still seeking them (and, incidentally, Loki).When Thanos's influence proves to be even stronger than expected, and the Nine Realms are imperiled from within, Loki has no choice but to reveal himself to his unwitting housemates and tell them everything he knows.

When Odin finds a newborn babe in the war-torn wasteland that is Jotunheim, he takes it home; Frigga is the one to insist they must treat it as their own, and Odin loves her, so he obliges.
And then she dies, and Odin has no time for a child that only reminds him of the very thing he lost - he barely has time for his own young, grieving son.
So he locks it in the Vault, and calls it a trophy from the frozen realm.

Loki shook his head. "I don't have my magic now. I used what little I had to 'send me somewhere safe'. Apparently it trusts this place."
Color was sliding from his cheeks.
A low moan caught in his chest, knees shaking, sinking a fraction of an inch down the glass.
Tony noticed Loki’s gaze immediately showing how he seemed too tired to express much emotion anymore. It was almost a defeated look which made Tony immediately uneasy. He didn’t know exactly how teleportation worked but he took a mental note.
“Your magic must be trying to kill you.” Tony couldn’t help but joke, however, just thinking about it for a second did make it all make sense. Tony was the only one here and was probably the only avenger to ever be willing to help the god like this.
Or Loki's magic takes him somewhere safe to have his newest bundle of joy, much to the chagrin of Tony Stark.

Loki had given a lot of thought to what his punishment might be but this one might be the worst of all. Apparently he was going to be redeemed. By THOR. That was such a bad idea it was painful. Where was an abyss to be thrown into when you needed it?
