His voice cracks, breaks. “The galaxy owes us this one thing. Just one goddamn thing.”
Kaidan wishes that were true. He sits down in solidarity, the back of his aching head pressed against the panel that separates the cockpit, and listens to Joker breathe through his pain, bitterly reminding himself that the galaxy doesn’t owe them a single goddamn thing. Not really. That dotted line had always been a thinly veiled sacrifice.
(The crew of the Normandy survives. But only just. Glimpses in time as they navigate grief, trauma, and empty space on their return to Sol.)

Summary
An old Inazuman proverb says: “Though the fool waits, the day does not”.
Actually, that proverb might not have actually come from Inazuma – much unlike Monsieur Neuvillette’s handsome friend whom he met during the previous year’s Fontinalia Festival – and whom he strangely forgot to mention to Wriothesley this entire time.
Wriothesley ends up accompanying the two on Mr. Ayato’s sightseeing tour, and quickly realizes that for *some* reason, he can’t stand him. No, he’s not jealous. That’d be ridiculous! He’s far too old for that. It’s not like he’s even in love with Neuvillette, or—
Okay, fine. He might be in love with him. So, what now? He’s got his own reasons not to confess, but is he just supposed to sit there and watch that sleazeball steal his man? And what kind of FREAK adds tapioca to his tea, anyway?!Well, as another Inazuman proverb would say: “The words unspoken leave the commissioner wishing some people would just get a room and stop taking their sexual frustration out on him”.

Summary
“If you know about a vishap’s cycle, you know marginally less than I do. I have had to draw my own conclusions from experience and research.” Neuvillette folds his hands across his lap. Not for the first time, he desperately wishes there were more dragons in the world. “It is an overwhelming surge of instincts every few months. It compels me to nest, to protect what is mine, and mostly to… to… breed," he grits out.
Wriothesley licks his lips. His breath wavers. Neuvillette waits for him to compose his polite rejection of their entire relationship.
“You want me to breed you, sweetheart?”
Neuvillette will swear to his dying breath that he is not the one that pounces.
OR: Wriothesley breeds Neuvillette so hard he unlearns shame.

Summary
Wriothesley grabbed onto his shoulders and exclaimed with a voice full of panic; “Neuvillette! What’s going on?!”
This time, Neuvillette couldn’t stop the whimper that escaped his lips, but the embarrassing sound wasn’t caused by the pain he felt but because of the sensation of Wriothesley’s warm hands holding him. He had to stop the desire to lean into the duke, to be wrapped in his embrace. He couldn’t believe he was having these inappropriate urges right now. It had never happened to him before, and it was terrifying.
“I... I don't know what's happening to me,” said the Iudex, pain lacing his voice.
“Guards!!” yelled Wriothesley, loud enough to be heard from outside his office.

A month after the prophecy, Neuvillette experiences unusual changes, leaving him vulnerable in the middle of the Fortress of Meropide. Fortunately, Wriothesley is there to provide him with a safe shelter. As long as the duke can control his own nature as an Alpha, that is.

He is a private creature, but he wonders what it would be like to slip away from the gala into a shadowed alcove, to steal kisses from Wriothesley’s lips, to—

“You are aroused,” Neuvillette observes.
A strangled noise catches in Wriothesley’s throat. “You can’t just say that.”
“No?” Neuvillette cants his head to the side, though the gesture is meaningless in the darkness of the box, with Wriothesley’s forehead against the wall of it.
“People don’t—” Wriothesley exhales heavily. “I’m trying not to make you uncomfortable.”
After Neuvillette and Wriothesley volunteer to help Lyney and Lynette with a magic trick, they find themselves trapped in a box. They make do with their situation.

Summary
Neuvillette dips close enough to kiss Wriothesley's temple. “I shall let you in on a secret, then. I thanked her and then told her that you were my concern.” His mouth drops to Wriothesley's ear, his breath warm against it. “Which is why I’m here, now, worrying over you. Wouldn’t a vacation be nice?” What a strange thing for Neuvillette to suggest. Wriothesley can barely pry him away from the office for an hour or two.
“Only if you take one with me. What would I do alone? Read? Drink tea? Might as well learn to knit and just retire at that point.”
He’d never, and Neuvillette wouldn’t let him either, but it’s a funny thought. Peace and quiet accompanied by the nicest of teas, a decent book, and balls of yarn. Wriothesley can’t remember the last time he had a lazy morning.
“I could make you feel better,” purrs Neuvillette into his ear.
Wriothesley has had a bad week so Neuvillette takes care of him.

Summary
Consumed by his newfound passion for ceramics, Neuvillette invites Wriothesley to help him set up a place for it in the Palais Mermonia, with zero ulterior motives whatsoever. Using the opportunity to dabble in the art under his guidance, Wriothesley soon discovers that pottery is very much a contact sport – though in a different way than he’s used to in boxing. Not that he’s necessarily complaining, it’s just that it might be difficult to explain why watching the other handle clay gets him THAT excited... in which case, maybe he should stop talking and start acting, instead.
And boy, does he put his heart into it once he finally acts on it.

But now, Neuvillette is in Wriothesley’s office, chuckling at one of Wriothesley’s dumb jokes, and Wriothesley wonders, not for the first time, about which gods have smiled on him to put him here, now, across the table, watching Neuvillette laugh over a cup of tea.

“Couldn’t you just tell him that?” Sedene asks, still baffled as to why Duke Wriothesley’s arrival necessitates so many requisition forms and types of black Liyuen tea.
Monsieur Neuvillette laughs. It’s a pleasant sound that rings in Sedene’s ears like music.
“I have,” he says. “However, His Grace also enjoys tea and it takes very little to… ‘put in the effort’ as Lady Furina said to me.”

“Kaveh,” he managed to choke out, voice wrecked, and Kaveh looked back up at his face, red eyes wild with fright. “’m sorry,” he murmured, weak, and Kaveh inhaled, reaching up to steady Alhaitham’s left shoulder.
Oh, Alhaitham was pitching sideways. His head felt like it was too heavy, lolling to the side, and Kaveh was speaking louder then, faster, but colours were dancing nauseatingly in Alhaitham’s vision, and his extremities were beginning to tingle and go numb. He shivered, involuntarily, coming to the realisation that he was freezing cold, and Kaveh’s hand cupped his cheek, words slurring together in a loud and frantic mess.Alhaitham comes home in the early hours of the morning, bleeding in his desire for Kaveh.

He’s clearly making an effort to be friends. Megumi isn’t - he isn’t a cruel person. Not to those that don’t deserve it, and he isn’t a robot either, despite the jokes his classmates make. Itadori doesn’t deserve it.
With a sense of finality, he thinks: Tsumiki wouldn’t like it if he were unkind to Itadori, when Itadori was being kind to him. And that settles it.
