Summary
The window of the drop ship is a nice touch. Expensive one too, which makes him wonder if it’s part of the game he’ll be playing. It’s enough to make him focus, map potential routes, and jolt some life into his old bones. He takes note of the planet’s three continents; even manages to locate the three main cities the planet boasts of. Of course there must be other settlements, but it’s a new world and his eyes can only focus on so much at once. Ordinarily he’d just accept sit back and accept his fate, but this new master has been kind. He can make it fun for the newly crowned King Jayce of Lamia.
Viktor's had a long, illustrious 'career' as a personal pet, and has seen more of the settled galaxy than most other people. When his previous master dies leaving no heir, it's understandable that it's time for his long overdue decommission. What isn't understandable, is why the new King of a backwater planet would take such a personal interest in seeing it done.

Summary
Travelling to the City had always been a rare treat, ever since Claggor accompanied Vander as a lad. Mousey’s hooves clattering against stone instead of dirt was the quietest rise in volume, almost lost to the din of more people than the tavern would see in a year. It could be overwhelming, the domesticated smell of life compared to the richness in the forest he’d just left, but it was life nonetheless and it always filled his heart with no small measure of glee. The world remained oblivious to his awe, and soon the wagon was swallowed into the swollen flow of traffic into the market district.
Claggor returns from the city with supplies for the tavern he runs in his fathers' absence with a little more than he bargained for.

“Oh, I’m sorry. I don’t even know your name! I’m Jayce, or Sir Jayce of the Pilt if we’re being formal.”
To that, Viktor simply cracks open a single eye. He knows the Pilt well. Too well. But there’s no sign of malice, and no pre-emptive glee at watching a mouse corner himself in the other man – Jayce’s eyes. Just plain curiosity.
“It’s… Viktor,” he mumbles, trying to hide his internal kicking himself for being truthful, not sticking to one of the many false names he’s crafted over the years. “Just Viktor.”
“Well, it’s good to meet you, ‘Just Viktor’.” The crinkles of Jayce’s eyes are so... fascinating that it takes him a moment to realise he’s being teased. Sleep, however, refuses to hold back her tide any longer so his last thought going into the dark is golden eyes set into golden skin.Viktor's survived ten years on the run from the Guild, and the many mage-slayers that they've sent to capture him, so he can survive ten more days. He just has to make sure Sir Jayce, the slayer sharing his coach to the next town, suspects nothing. All he has to do is keep his glamour disguise in place, and play the well-worn role of an elderly travelling healer.

Summary
The final dregs of his current can are hand-warm, but the buzzing heat that is not anxiety has cooled enough that he feels ready to join the rest of the group. Waste not want not, and he hides the wince after gulping them down for his audience of no one, except-
“Am I interrupting?”The universe might be beautiful if you're a physicist, but it's cruel in real life. Jayce's best friend is incredible, his best friend's boyfriend is the worst, and his best friend's boyfriend's housemate is the hottest guy at the end of term house party. When they're paired up for a research project at uni, Jayce learns that Viktor is also devastatingly smart. The conclusion of his report is written before the work begins: he's doomed.

A rant that got typed up into a thinkpiece, that ended up becoming more of an essay (by someone who last wrote an academic essay four years ago, and who stopped studying English Literature when they were 16)

Pyotr Fradkov was a politician. The slave was an omega, with no legal rights. They certainly didn’t vote, had no say in Pyotr’s future career, and no one would fault him for hurting one of the bitches. It didn’t mean he had to be any more cruel to that tortured little thing. It didn’t mean he could force himself not to help them, once he learned they were pregnant.
