Summary
Bruce was starting to understand the jokes about him and adopting strays. But it’s not like he ever went looking for kids to adopt. They just sort of… appeared.
Besides, the neighbor boy clearly had no one, and Bruce could not in good conscience let that assassin girl go back to parents who had treated her so badly.
If that meant Bruce adopted two more kids, so be it. It’s not like he didn’t have the room.

Summary
Darius Deamonne had jumped into the deep end of parenting without a life jacket. It was never a question in his mind that, upon overthrowing Belos, he would take in Hunter. He even understood that the deep trauma the boy had suffered at his supposed-uncle’s hands would make things difficult. What he hadn’t anticipated was the challenge of adapting to life outside the dysfunctional dynamics of the emperor’s inner circle, nor the deluge of long-repressed grief regarding Hunter’s immediate predecessor.
That isn’t even mentioning the need to support Hunter in his own grief over the circumstances of their reunification. Hunter had his own magic now, but only because his beloved palisman, Flapjack, had sacrificed himself to save his life. Hunter would have rather Flapjack remained alive. Additionally, it turns out that combining super-speed/flash stepping magic and PTSD produces some rather inconvenient consequences. Triggering a person’s fight-or-flight response usually doesn’t result in that person teleporting 10 metres away.Bookmarked by timmyduck

Summary
His face is pale. Lips curled up in a grotesque smile. Torn up the cheeks, oozing blood that drips onto the cement floor. One hand rips at his dark hair, greasy and limp over manic eyes. The other hangs at his side, limply clinging to a gun. “Ha ha ha-” Half frantic laughter, half distraught sobs that rattle through his chest.
Between them, the Joker’s body. Blood blossoming around his head. Brain matter spattered on the floor. Smiling. Eyes vacantly staring up at the ceiling.
“Hahahahaha-”
Bruce approaches slowly. Like he’s approaching a skittish animal. “Tim,” he says softly, and the boy blinks at him, still laughing, still sobbing. There are tears in his eyes. “Tim, put down the gun.”

Summary
Ornithomancy is the practice of divining omens/messages from birds by their flight patterns, cries, and calls.
If someone asked Tim if he ever practiced the art of ornithomancy, he would flat out say, “Nah.” But he now realizes that reading the Batfamily’s mind was essentially the same thing.
He didn’t think that his power would get him into so much trouble, but he should’ve known better. He also didn’t think that they would ever find out about his ability, but as always, Tim was wrong.

Summary
Tim closed his eyes and thought about Jason, bright and passionate and alive. Robin laughing as he leapt across Gotham’s rooftops. Jason snickering into a plate of hors d’oeuvres as Brucie Wayne spilled wine on a rude socialite. Robin gently placing a bandaid on the skinned knee of young girl, spinning a dramatic tale to distract her from the pain. Jason standing in the parking lot of Gotham academy, rambling excitedly about The Great Gatsby to an amused Dick Grayson. Robin grinning over his shoulder at Tim as Tim raised his camera.
Gotham needed a Robin.
But Robin was dead.
Tim thought about Robin, cold and broken and still under Gotham’s soil. Robin, whose last moments had been pain and terror. Robin, calling for a father who would arrive too late. Robin, who would never fly again.
Gotham needed a Robin.
But Robin was dead.
Robin is dead. Tim Drake is going to fix that.
