“What?” Fu whipped around, Hii still leaning against the bathroom door and across from him. “W-Why?”
Cthoni scoffed, “Yeah, why Jabber? It’s March and you’re a senior. You need to graduate and get a damn degree if you wanna take care of this kid on your own. Pick up extra shifts at your job.”
“Can I have her if Jabber abandons her?” Hii smirks.
“If anybody was gonna adopt her it’d be me. I’m the only adult here besides Jab, and my name is on the house along Zodyl’s,” she argued, “But Jabber isn’t abandonin’ her.”
Hii rolled his eyes, “How are you so sure?”
“Yeah, how you so sure?” Jabber repeated.
The woman smiled, “Because I’ll drag you back here by your goddamn wicks if you even think of leaving her here.”After his ex flees the state, Jabber Wonger is stuck with his very own...newborn. Luckily, he has a (dysfunctional) support system, and one...not so supportive “boyfriend.”

“Pretty, ain’t she?” He held his hand up, wiggling his fingers as if his weapon was saying hello. “I call her Mankira.”
“Didn’t ask, ya bastard.”
The manic smile finally dropped from Jabber’s face, replaced by a frown. “That’s no way to treat a lady. What about your girl, what’s her name?” It took Zanka a second to realize he meant his cane.
“Aibō. What’s it to ya?” He crept closer to the stairwell again. If keeping up conversation gave him an edge, so be it, he’d keep talking.
Crazed smile returned, Jabber spoke to his cane rather than to Zanka. “You sure do pack a mean punch. Too bad I gotta bump off your man, but boss’s orders.”
Zanka and Riyo infiltrate a speakeasy suspected to be operated by an up-and-coming gang. Nothing goes to plan.

The older man looked at him like he was stupid. Which was generally a look Jabber had come to know and expect over the years. “Which is why won’t be fighting, Jabber,” He said, like he had to explain this to a child. Jabber dug his nails into his thigh. “You’re going to join the Cleaners.”

Jabber was given a very simple job—an easier one than all of the others Zodyl’s ever given him in the past! Gain the Cleaner’s trust, get to a position where he has access to a lot of information, give it the bossman and watch the entire HQ crumble and burn in a dumpster fire. Easy, right?
Too simple—the way they take him with a few bats of his eyes, the way they believe his technical truths. (He’s never liked lying.) He won’t be there for long, he tells himself. It won’t mean anything, if he stays during movie nights instead of immediately retreating to his room. It won’t mean anything if he’s giggling while sitting on counter tops while Zanka and Riyo cook. It won’t matter if he ruffles Rudo’s hair or let Enjin put a hand on his shoulder. It shouldn’t matter. It won’t matter.
He’s still got a relatively easy job to do. And a reward to gain. How hard can it be?
