Summary
As far as the world is concerned, Clarke was raised a southern belle, from a rich plantation family in small town Alabama. She’s finally become somebody, a successful designer on her way to becoming a household name. But when her boyfriend, Finn Collins, son of New York City’s mayor, proposes to her and she says yes, Clarke finds herself back in Polis, Alabama. Back in her hometown for the first time in five years, Clarke has to come to terms with the fact that maybe she’s been living a lie in New York. Oh, and that if she wants to marry Finn, she first needs to convince her high school sweetheart, Lexa Woods, to sign their divorce papers.

An inside joke around the office has grown out of hand and now everyone thinks Lexa has a girlfriend. When an office wedding rolls around, Lexa has run out of excuses as to where her non-existent better half is. Just when she thinks she’s out of options and has to come clean, Clarke, a friend of a friend, moves back to town and is down to do a little acting. Constant celebratory booze and a genuine fast friendship make everything fake start to feel a little too real.

Summary
Executive Chef Lexa "The Commander" Woods is working in her latest establishment in her home town of Portland, Maine. She is about to start conceptualizing her next restaurant and only has one rule for herself during the process: No more girls. When an accident at the restaurant lands her in Dr. Clarke Griffin's ER, she second guesses why she ever had that rule in the first place. Lexa's head bartender, Lincoln, is obsessed with a divey restaurant on the other side of town run by Octavia. It doesn't take long for the small town to get even smaller when Lexa starts running into Clarke everywhere. Maybe rules were meant to be broken.
