Summary
Aikawa is hunched over his plate, scarfing down his meal like he’s afraid someone might take it from him, eyes glued to the screen in front of him. Faint pink impressions decorate his skin, courtesy of the mask. It’s so…casual. Risu joins him and tries not to feel any type of way about it.

Summary
“C’mon, it can’t be that embarrassing. I want to know your type, and I want to know it now.” Maybe the knuckle cracking is overkill, but it does the job. He drops his chopsticks in a dramatic fashion, broth splashing on the table as one bounces in the half-eaten ramen, and tilts his head back like he can’t stand to look at her when he says this.
“Team 7,” he mumbles. “Team 7 is my type.”
Sakura waits a beat for more. Nothing.
“That’s it? Your crush on me wasn’t exactly a secret, and honestly, your weird thing with Sasuke wasn’t subtle, either.”
He covers his face with his hands. “All of Team 7.”
One revealing conversation later, Sakura immediately regrets her promise to not set Naruto up anymore. One visit with the Hokage later, she really regrets it.

Summary
The thing is he’s fairly certain it would be a resounding rejection if he brought it up. It wouldn’t sting. This isn’t tied up in feelings.
And since he’s so certain it would be a rejection, why bother? He’s not desperate. This isn’t some burning, hot, insistent desire. More like a low simmer, only really noticeable in Naruto’s presence. But when he does notice, woof.
One day, Kakashi realizes Naruto isn't a kid anymore. It's all downhill from there.

Summary
She’s been home for a few days, has a few more left. She’s not sure if she’s counting down or not. She’s not sure about much these days.
It’s not like she’s having a bad time at home. It’s just that lately she gets the sense that she’s…drifting.
Home for the week, Kagome contemplates her place in the world.

Summary
“There’re no wolves in Missouri,” he says dismissively, closing his eyes.
“Then what do you think that was?” Shane makes a noncommittal noise that causes him to cough again. “You didn’t see it,” Ryan adds over the hacking.
“Could’ve been anything. A dog for—”
“A dog? It was fucking huge!”
“Hate to break it to you, Ryan, but dogs can get pretty big.”
Something has been building between them, and Shane can't help but think getting mauled by a wild animal and then having the weirdest goddamn month of his life might be getting in the way.

“Do you miss it?” Gorgug asks. Ice leaks into Fig’s stomach.
“Miss what?”
Drinking? Drugs? The burn of tequila down the back of her throat? The smoky-sweet haze settling under her skin until she feels liquid and calm? The buzz at the back of her head, but one she can control; one she can ride out like a surfer on a ten foot wave? Feeling human and likable and electric and real?
Yeah. She misses it.
“Performing,” Gorgug clarifies.
