“Oh good,” she says, “she’s here.”
“Who is she exactly?” Chan asks as Jeonghan turns to check who Seungkwan just saw. She seems to find what she’s looking for because she turns back around to Seungkwan with a scoff.
“Are you sure, Seungkwannie? That’s like sending a baby gazelle into the lion’s den.” Jeonghan says as she wraps an arm around Seungkwan. Chan takes another look behind the two girls, whatever they’re looking at should be just in her line of sight but nothing is standing out to her. As if by divine intervention, just as she’s about to look away the crowd parts and she sees someone.
“Oh, wow,” it’s all Chan can get out as she takes in the girl leaning against the wall, one of her boots kicked back against it. Her hat hangs low on her head and she’s got a Corona resting on her thigh, fingers wrapped around the neck of the bottle. A lime floating listlessly near the top, squeezed for all its worth. Chan can only see the girl’s mouth from under the hat but she knows she wants to taste the lime from her lips.
“Too late unnie, I think we’ve lost her."
