Longclaw poised above his head, Jon had nearly ended it when a White Walker’s frozen spear sprouted from his chest. Then darkness.
And a strange voice. “Damn. He almost had it that time. Screw it. Time for a do over… and no more fighting fair.”
Jon is understandably confused. Is he dead?
Then he is blinking away the morning light. In front of him Maester Luwin is bustling around, unaware of his waking patient.
Elsewhere, Brandon dwells in a long slumber. He had been waiting millennia to find a worthy successor. But time had only rendered them insignificant. None were up to the task. None had the strength.
Then he was roused by a burst of power.
Power like he hadn’t felt since he was a young man. Curious, he looks up to find the source. Could it be? Finally someone worthy? And so very close, too.
A direct descendant. A little boy, pale and ill, but with so much hidden strength and power. And what’s this? A child of Destiny…
He did not smile often, but this put a smile on his face. It would not be long until Westeros remembered to fear his blade.
Beyond the Wall, Brynden River’s eyes snap open as he gasps.
“Fuck.”
