Summary
Foggy’s crouched down by the man’s head before he even realizes what he’s doing, one hand on the edge of the mask ready to pull it off. Before he can, though, the man moves, quicker than Foggy thought he would be able to, based on the state of him, and grabs Foggy’s wrist in a surprisingly gentle hold. With the other, he pulls out a phone – a familiar phone, an eerily familiar phone, Foggy recognizes that phone – from his pocket and pushes it into Foggy’s hand. The man coughs out, “F-Fog…Foggy…Call– call Peter, don’t call anyone else…Call Peter…” and then promptly passes out, grip going limp around Foggy’s wrist. The words were said quietly, choked out between bleeding lips, but they ring loud in Foggy’s ears, as if they were yelled not five inches from his head. Despite all the evidence, despite the face, and the phone, and the voice, and the words that voice spoke, Foggy still can’t help but feel a shred of disbelief, of denial.
