    Summary

All those years ago, Shouyou proclaimed he was of those who sprouted from the concrete. Once he arrived in Rio, he wondered if exchanging the hard cracks of concrete with the dry, dense bed of sand was worth it.

But then he sees the lines of palm trees taking roots on the golden sprawling beach, and the tiny particles of sand—wet by the waves that reach the shoreline—clinging to the wiry muscles of his toned calves, and he thinks, perhaps it’s never been about the land.

The unmaking of one Hinata Shouyou, and the making of one Oikawa Tooru, together.

Whatever the opposite of character assassination is, it’s this. Character affirmation(?)

This writing is SCRUMPTIOUS. I was reading it half in awe, a quarter jealous and another quarter giddy at the realism (? For lack of a better word,)
It was so enjoyable!! So easy to read, not in a way where it’s literally easy but easy.. on the mind (??) I was mind blown at how represented I felt HAHA I feel stupid saying this but Katsuki and Izuku felt like they wrote their own thoughts themselves and they ACTUALLY ACT AND THINK LIKE TEENAGERS WOAHHH.

Also, I don’t know if these were intentional, but I loved these little things:

“ Katsuki doesn't feel particularly older than he did a month ago, regardless of whatever shiny new label of "upperclassman" that the school deigns to spring upon him.” [Get it haha cause spring is here. I deadass chuckled at
    This.]

“ The glow-in-the-dark clock that Izuku has on his desk reads 4:21 AM—it's officially no longer Katsuki's birthday.”
[4/20 Kts birthday, the day after —> 4:21am on 4/21. I really like this hehe]

I’ll stop here haha IF ANYONE IS READING THIS BOOKMARK, please READ THIS FIc

    Summary

Really, Oikawa-san? You know, you could always just stay here with me for a bit!
Oikawa violently beat down the grin trying to spread across his face, and swirled the water around in his glass as if it were a fine vintage. You know, shorty-pie. I’ll think about it.
And that’s when it was agreed upon.

Oikawa Tooru slips, tumbles, and falls into the beach, and later the suddenly-very-well-muscled arms of his old high school rival. Cue emotional whiplash.

    Summary

There’s a bit of rustling on the other side. Then a voice — a man, older, maybe in his forties or fifties — says, in a slightly accented voice, “Hello, is this Kageyama Tobio?”

Tobio goes still. He doesn’t know how he knows, but suddenly he’s fully certain of what this call is. Knowingly or not, he’s been waiting for it. Coach Ukai has been waiting for it. Fucking Kindaichi asked about it in passing during their last practice match at Seijoh. It’s not a surprise.

“Yes,” Tobio says, but it doesn’t come out. He clears his throat and tries again. “Yes, this — this is him.”

“Good, good,” the voice on the phone says. “This is Hibarida Fuki, Head Coach of the Japan Men’s National Volleyball Team.”

In which Kageyama Tobio receives an offer, swallows a heart, and fails to not look for Hinata in everything, everything.

    Summary

    “You don’t what?” Shouyou asks.

Kageyama looks uncomfortable enough to crawl out of his skin. He rubs his knuckles against his chin, roughly, and then tells the floor, “You’re sick, and you’re sad, and I don’t want you to be either of those things.”

Shouyou blinks once, then twice. And then, embarrassingly, he bursts into tears.

They could have played for longer. They deserved to play for longer.

Shouyou doesn’t know why he expected volleyball to be fair. And it’s all the more infuriating because it is the fairest sport in the whole world. Two teams. One net. Six players on each side, none of which get to hold the ball for more than a couple seconds at a time, and those seconds mean everything.

In which Shouyou and Tobio share a meal after the world ends. Or after the match with Kamomedai. It's all a matter of semantics, really.
