Summary
Still, Arthur feels known to Mal in that moment, bound together as much as the twisting metal of the candle holders on the table between them. She reaches over to lay her hand over his own and Arthur thinks about what she means—about losing himself. In dreams, in the abyss, the mazes they built together. In the cobblestoned streets of Paris, walking and waiting for the dark that never really fully arrived, kept at bay by all the lights and life of the city glittering around them. In the lull of Eames’ voice in his ears, hovering too-close like he always did when they went out to celebrate a job’s success, trying something without really trying.

Summary
"Hang on, Duncan, I'm just coming in." Jimmy tucked the phone into his top pocket and nudged the boat alongside the mooring. She kissed the buoys with a gentle bump and he jumped onto the quayside to tie her off. He dug out the phone and pressed it to his ear, regretting wasting Duncan's thirty precious monthly minutes. "Sorry, sorry. You were saying?"
"About my release day, aye. I've been thinking it might be best if you weren't here, after all, to pick me up."
Jimmy swapped the phone to his other ear, the landward side, because Duncan suddenly sounded muffled and far away, despite the lack of wind coming off the sea. "Come again?"
"I said, it might be better if I make my own way after they let me out."

Summary
“Let’s think about something else for a while,” Duncan says, tracing his thumb along the curve of Jimmy’s jaw, drawing him in.
Duncan presses his lips to Jimmy’s; gentle, almost tentative at first, then more insistent as Jimmy’s hands find his hips automatically. Duncan groans, crowding Jimmy into the kitchen island, tilting his head to deepen the kiss, his beard catching on Jimmy’s stubble. He tastes of whisky, a hint of salt from who knows how long spent out on the beach skimming stones, and it’s been so many long days. So much grief and pain and exhaustion and so many things beyond his control. Thinking about something else sounds grand.

Summary
There was a part of Jimmy—still too strong a part, the one who lived alone, stood alone, drew the firm line round himself—that kept wanting to say, Thanks but you didn't have to do that. Thanks but you're already welcome to stay. Thanks but I'm used to shifting for myself.
Thanks, but.
He shook it off as best he could. And instead, he walked behind Duncan as they both left the kitchen, and put his hands on Duncan's shoulders.
