His only company over years of solitary vacations is the hint of another boy who stays in the same house in the winter season, and the art Stede begins to draw, inspired.
Three decades later, Stede is a newly divorced, newly out children's book illustrator struggling to break through art block, and he hopes that going back to where it all began will be the key to rekindling his joy.
