Carol Sturka writes the Nashville hits that blare out of car stereos on every country road, but her soul is in the songs she plays to nobody on Monday nights. Zosia, a young hungry singer feeling boxed in by the Nashville machine, hears Carol sing one of those songs in a crappy bar and makes it her mission to find Carol and record that song. Helen, an emotionally guarded studio owner who has a painful history with Carol, against her better judgment, decides to make it happen.
