    It only takes until Present Mic’s hero debut for Hizashi Yamada to begin evaporating. Like the same way the scent of petrichor vanishes from soil hours after rain clears, fading as the clouds bleed away into the horizon. By the time anyone is lucid enough to notice, image of Hizashi impeccably blurry in the sunlight, a smudge on orange lenses to be wiped away-- only Present Mic is called up to the stage.

    'Hiding' behind a persona is nothing new for Hizashi Mic.

    However, hiding his love for Shouta is growing ever harder by the day. There's no telling when the comfortable status quo of being best friends will end, and where being enemies will inevitably begin.

    After all, there's no chance in hell Shouta would actually like him back.
    Everything comes to a head when he's struck by a quirk.

    It's an ugly Saturday morning when he wakes up to the trill of his ringtone. Not that there’s any distinction between any other days; most of them tend to be, if you’re up this early.

    Groaning, he pushes himself up by his elbows, plastic bottles clattering onto the floor as the futon's sheets shift around.

    The phone keeps ringing.

    When he finally reaches for it, it's buzzed over five times.

    Click. It's work, he assumes. Though they should know better, they’re one number out of three he knows have access to his just as he has to theirs. And no one else would be this persistent.

    "Eraserhead speaking," he grunts.

    "Shouta, where were you?”

    Maybe someone else would be this persistent. He should've known.

    Likely a home call, too. Not this again. "I thought I told you to piss off, Mic."
