Daintily, she sat on the edge of the bed, the mattress sinking under her weight as she released his tie. His gaze dropped to her heels, long, elegant, absurdly impractical, and then back to her eyes. One brow lifted, amused, as he gave a quiet, almost theatrical tsk.
“Dangerous weapons,” he murmured, voice rich with implication. “Shouldn’t be worn in bed.”
He moved then, not hesitating, not asking, and sank fluidly to one knee, meeting one of his own polished shoes, like a knight honoring his own code.
