“Senior Kav— Senior Kaveh,” she chokes out, breaths still coming in short, quick bursts. “Bleeding. He’s— Abdomen wound. They— they took him to Bimarstan, I think? Sorry. I’m sorry. I don’t know. But he kept saying— kept calling your name. Kept calling for you. And—”
“Slow down,” says Kaveh, rubbing her shoulders with his hands to get her to calm down. Anxiety spikes in his chest. “What’s going on? Who is calling for me?”
Alhaitham bleeds out from a stab wound, and in his delirium, he can’t stop saying Kaveh’s name.

Summary
Kaveh skids to a halt right in the middle of the room.
He thought he might find Al-Haitham here—it’s his favorite room after his bedroom—but he didn’t expect to find him sprawled out on the middle divan, legs stretched out leisurely and his head lolled to one side. His eyes are closed, his facial muscles so relaxed his mouth’s fallen open a sliver. Kaveh can see the pink of his tongue.
In his arms he’s cradling Mehrak.
Kaveh, Al-Haitham and Mehrak may not be the most typical family—but they are a family nonetheless. And, surprisingly enough, it turns out that having a semi-sentient toolbox as a pseudo-daughter can do wonders for a broken relationship.

Summary
When Kaveh and Alhaitham became a couple, everyone thought they would break up within the month.
…And everyone had been wrong, thank you very much. They survived a full year sharing a home, sharing a life, sharing a cat.
And really, Kaveh should consider one year and three months quite an achievement, given that this was Alhaitham he had been putting up with for all that time, with his absurd idiosyncrasies and infuriating jabs. It should have been obvious from the beginning that Kaveh would never be able to exchange wedding rings with someone with such an impressively awful eye for interior design.
Or: Kaveh breaks up with Alhaitham. But they keep shared custody of the cat.
