Coming out to the Pike's was not the plan for the evening.
It wasn't even in the top 10 list.
And yet, here Shane is, sitting on their living room floor, having fought Rose Landry to get his phone back, and making a Face. He knows he is making a face, he can feel his forehead scrunching and his jaw aching and he can do nothing about it except wait for -
"So who's Lily?!"
Fuck.

Gilbert Comeau has been a Montreal Voyager for 9 years and for 6 of those years he had shared the ice with Shane Hollander. Despite how odd he had found Hollzy as a rookie it hadn’t stopped some deeper part of his brain from immediately deciding that the baby hockey prodigy was his to protect now- and he certainly hadn’t gotten any less determined to do so as the years went on.
Shane was his captain and brother in arms. He had won them one cup and was currently dragging them towards a second. Gil would go to war for him anytime, anywhere. If Theriault wanted to hurt Hollzy he would have to go through him, Pat, and J.J. just like anyone and everyone else who had started shit on the ice over the years

It is a fact universally accepted in the NHL’s Eastern Conference that Gilbert Comeau and Patrice Drapeau would- without a doubt- kill a man for their captain Shane Hollander… so really everything that happened in Montreal after Shane was outed was Theriault’s own fault for being dumb enough to believe that that fact only applied on the ice

“This hot tub has not been well maintained,” Rozanov complained as they stood on the deck, staring at the built-in hot tub, big enough to fit 8 people.
“So, you can replace it,” Shane replied patiently.
“I will be too busy to replace the hot tub. Then I will have a long day, and I will decide to have a soak in my rancid hot tub, and then I will catch diphtheria and die.” Rozanov looked at Shane, accusatory. “You want me to die?”
Shane looked down. The hot tub looked no more or less rancid than any other hot tub. “I don’t think you can get diphtheria from a dirty hot tub.”
“You are doctor now?” Rozanov asked, and Shane stayed silent.
Shane Hollander is a realtor who works with the Ottawa Centaurs to find properties for new players.
Ilya Rozanov needs a home.
