Summary
Shane suddenly reaches into his pocket and pulls out his phone. “Should we check the expiry date?”
Right. Ilya had completely forgotten about that. Every match has a predetermined end date, and as soon as one match is over, you move on to the next, also chosen for you by the app. The app boasts a complex algorithm that will analyze all your reactions and experiences during each match and use that to find your perfect soulmate.
“Ready?” he asks Shane.
“Ready.” Shane looks so adorably serious. Ilya could eat him alive.
15 hours flashes across the screen. What the fuck? Not even a full day? That’s not a relationship, that’s a one-night stand. Which Ilya doesn’t have a problem with, generally speaking. He’s enjoyed many of them over the years. But with Shane? One night is not enough for all the things he wants to do to Shane. One week probably wouldn’t be enough. Fifteen fucking hours?
or: shane and ilya live in a world where who they can date, and how long they can date them, is predetermined by an app on their phones. when their match is cut short after only 15 hours, shane and ilya decide to go against the rules.

Summary
“Hey. Whatever this is, it seems like we’re in it together. So maybe we should try to figure it out. Together.”
“How can we figure it out, when we don’t know what it is?” Rozanov is staring at a random spot on Shane’s shirtsleeve.
“Honestly…” Shane hesitates for a moment, because what he’s about to suggest is truly, absolutely insane. “If I didn’t know any better, I’d say it’s like a time loop.”
“Time loop?” Rozanov repeats, sounding confused. He still doesn’t look up.
“Yeah, like that movie Groundhog Day?”
Finally, Rozanov meets his gaze, but only to give Shane an absolutely incredulous look. “That is a movie, Hollander. That is not real.”
“Does any of this seem real to you?” Shane fires back. “I don’t know about you, but this kind of thing doesn’t exactly happen to me a lot.”
