Maverick was confused as to why he still kept getting invited to these Dagger Squad bar nights, now that the mission was so far behind them. He’d tried bowing out gracefully, but the cumulative effect of all those puppy eyes turned on him had him utterly unable to resist. It was nice that they still wanted to include him, really it was, but he knew it was only a matter of time before they moved onto the next deployment and he was just a figure fading away in their rearview mirrors.

Ice has plenty of contingencies in place for if someone ever finds out about him and Maverick.
He does not have a plan for someone coming across Carole Bradshaw’s Polaroids from three decades prior and putting them on the internet, in an attempt to identify the pictured Navy officers, kissing & holding each other as if they weren't breaking the law & potentially their own careers.
Nor does he have a plan for Bradley being the one to bring the photos to his attention.

"My dad believed in you. I’m not gonna make the same mistake." Rooster said, but before Maverick could answer someone else did.
Iceman.
"Is that the way you usually talk to your COs, Lieutenant Bradshaw?" He never sounded so cold with him.
"No, I—" Suddenly Bradley felt like a puppy caught stealing a cookie from a cookie jar. Or rather more accurately a pup that was caught— No, they weren't any horrible enough metaphors, for what he said.
"Because this is simply unacceptable." Iceman slowly came closer. "Give me one reason why I shouldn't make this an official reprimand, and remove you from this mission." He put himself between Bradley and Maverick.
"Papa no, please—" It automatically escaped his lips, before he could stop himself.
"This kind of behavior is even less acceptable from a grown up Pup towards his Mother." His Papa said even more coldly.
AKA. Alpha Iceman overheard Rooster talking to his Omega. He gave Bradley's a choice if he would like to be punished by official Navy means, or by family rules.
AKA. Bradley gets spanked like never before by his Papa for being extremely rude towards his Mama, with his Mama and his two little brothers watching.
