Summary
Winter seems to be endless in this kingdom.
It settles over the land like a cage, cold enough to starve the poor, quiet enough to smother hope. Beneath it, the cries of the people are drowned out by mad laughter and the clinking of coins, as nobles watch from the stands of the arena and wager on lives, victory or defeat, survival or death.
This is how a knight is born.
Not in a golden cradle, nor within halls of stone and jewels, but in the filthiest corner of a rotting kingdom, where children are sold for spectacle and suffering is routine. the knight learns to survive by bleeding, until fear, anger, and even feeling itself are worn away.
When the knight is brought from the arena to the palace and offered to the Holy Saint as a sacred gift, two souls recognize the same desire beneath the dim moonlight of the sanctuary, to escape a cycle of violence, false faith, and inherited sin.
This is a story of a nameless knight, of faith placed in a person rather than a god, and of the cost required to end a world that should never have endured.
