A Wave Of Change

Summary:

“Come back to me, love, I was wrong.”

Here he was, begging you to come back with him as soon as you had left. You wondered whether he was oblivious to his true feelings all along, or he was aware of it, but was too greedy to simply have you alone and you alone.

“That, I cannot do, Dio. I thought I told you already;

“The moment I left you in that mansion, we were no longer husband and wife.

“You chose to stay the same, and I chose to do myself a favor. But I do have you to thank, Dio. Without that last fight we had, I wouldn't have realized just how much I needed to get away from you.”

The five men behind you looked at you with wide eyes, even Jotaro, who is known for his callousness and ignorant behavior was listening intently with wide eyes.

“Oh. My. God!!!” Joseph slapped his cheeks with both of his hands, his eyes comically wide, almost popping out of his sockets.

It was a long day for them, and this was definitely not how they expected to end it.

Chapter Text

—“I SAW THAT WOMAN— that human woman in your chambers, again !! When will you stop doing what you're doing and understand, Dio ?!”

Distress is what you have felt. The sand castle you had built for yourself, the sandcastle you thought would stay up right was starting to fall apart in front of your very own eyes. It's painfully heartbreaking, seeing it crumble down on its own, and you can do nothing about it.

“I told you time and time again, I don't love them as I love you !”

“If you truly loved me, you would have stopped doing this ‘hobby’ of yours and come to me! I am not against sleeping with you, Dio, you're the one who forbade me from coming into your chambers! And for what? Some other mistress you're hiding under my nose? I've had enough of this!!”

“AND SO HAVE I!” He roared, his voice boomed and shook the entirety of the dark mansion, and of course, yourself. Dio has had his fair share of wrath, arguments, and fights with you, but never has he yelled so loudly at you.

“I'm tired of you complaining about my doings, of telling me what you want me to do. What about what I want you to do?!”

Wrath surged within your chest, your tears blurred your vision as you growled underneath your breath. “What you want me to do?!! WAS ME, TOLERATING THE FACT YOU WERE ELOPING WITH SOME OTHER WOMAN WHO ISN'T YOUR WIFE NOT ENOUGH?!?!?”

“NO! IT'S NOT ENOUGH! I NEED YOU TO KNOW WHERE THE LINE IS! YOU NEED TO STAY OUT OF MATTERS THAT AREN'T ANY OF YOUR BUSINESS!!”

“HOW IS MY HUSBAND CHEATING ON ME NONE OF MY BUSINESS?!!”

“I’ve already told you,” Dio seethed, his hand grabbing a nearby chair. “I DON'T LOVE THEM!!!”

A chair was thrown your way, and you dodged the chair without any difficulties. You almost missed the fact Dio had begun to get physical. You were breathless, tears pricked your eyes, threatening to fall out. You tried to blink them back as you sucked in a shaky breath.

“What happened to us, Dio? We’ve been through this before, and you promised you wouldn’t repeat the same mistake. You keep telling me you love me, but you keep eloping with other women. Don't think I don't know what sweet nothings you've whispered into their ears.” You growled out as you marched towards Dio.

Sadness was there, but rage was more apparent in your features. You jab your index finger onto his chest, “I'll have you know, Dio, I'm not one of them. I'll leave whenever I want, because I can.”

He smirked, snorting. He didn't believe you. “Then why are you still here? If you're so stressed with me, just find someone else to love. Perhaps we weren't meant for each other after all.” His words were laced in sarcasm, the amusement avid in his voice.

You blinked, once, and then twice.

Jonathan was right, your relationship wasn't going to last long after all. You should have trusted him.

“And that is what I'll be doing.” You swiftly turn around, your hair whipping behind you, and you hope it somehow hits Dio's face. “Goodbye, Dio. Because from now on,” You turned to shoot him a scowl one last time, and you swore lasers would have come out of your eyes had you not held yourself back. “We are no longer husband and wife.”

You leave his office, the huge door slamming behind you as you did. You calmly went to your room to pack your things, keeping a stoic expression on your face. No one asked where you were going, though you felt N’doul's questioning gaze pierce your back. You heard Dio's painfully loud, anger filled ‘WRY’ echo throughout the mansion. But even then, you didn't stop.

You left the mansion and didn't look back.

You realize that ever since he got you back, all he did was flirt with you, say sweet nothings into your ears, and coo you into doing his bidding. You were nothing more than a pawn. And you knew, the longer you stayed with him,

The higher the chance you'd be just like those women he throws aside as soon as he's finished sucking their blood.

You were glad you found Avdol a few short weeks after your departure from Dio’s mansion. He is such a hospitable gentleman, and you can't help but grow smitten by him. He is much better than Dio, although you have to admit, you missed his random moments of tantrum, romanticism, and controlling nature.

But it was probably you being so used to following his orders, obeying like a dog to its master. And thinking about it now, you can't help but grimace before smiling bittersweetly. You heard someone call out your name, “Is something wrong?” You were brought back to reality, you were holding your cup up to your lips to take a sip.

You must have zoned out for quite a while, seeing as how Avdol seemed rather concerned. You smiled, “No, Avdol, nothing is wrong. The tea was just a tad bit too hot for me.” You reassured him, giving the tea a blow before you took a sip. He nodded slowly, still eyeing you before leaning back into his seat.

You glanced at the entrance of his shop curiously, “When will this friend of yours come? He's forty minutes late.” Avdol chuckled before shooting you an apologetic smile. “I apologize for his behavior, he's just.. Like this sometimes.” You raised a teasing eyebrow, a smile tugged your lips. “He must be quite the troublesome person. Eccentric people always bring other's attention towards them.”

Avdol blinked before breaking into a small chuckle, smiling warmly at you. “I'm afraid you're right, Olivier. I'm afraid you're right.” Silence stretched after that, but it wasn't an awkward, uncomfortable silence, it was a silence you both enjoyed. And you preferred it to be like this.

Then, a question you were dying to ask sprung back into your mind from the void, “Who is this friend of yours? You've told me he's a foreign and that his father, grandfather, and great grandfather are British, but since he lives in America he's less of a gentleman than the three. You've told me such details of this man, but you've never told me his name.”

He opened his mouth to answer, but before he could, the door to the shop opened loudly, and a man with white hair and a grizzly beard came in. A brown shirt with its sleeves rolled up to his elbow, a pair of casual, loose pants, and a brown hat to match his outfit. He flashed a grin towards you, “The name's Joestar, Joseph Joestar!”

Your eyes widen,

You didn't expect to meet Jonathan's grandson so fast.

You still remembered the day where Dio finally discovers your secret, the male with blonde hair, a stoic face, and greed, envy filled dark amber eyes. He was so mad, angry at the world, at everyone. So much that he despised everything humane. You assumed that's why he let you inside his walls,

Because you weren't human,

And he knows that.

“So this.. ‘Stand’ of yours.. It's a representation of your soul?” Dio asked curiously, raising an eyebrow. You nodded, playing with your, invisible to him, Stand. “How do you summon it? Does your Stand have a name?” You nodded and smiled, calling out the name of your Stand as you did so. As you said its name, you could feel how proud your Stand is with the name you gifted it.

Dio blinked owlishly, “That's a.. Unique name.” And with a teasing smile, he nudged your shoulder with his, “You sure are childish for a vampiric dinosaur.” You pouted, “Am not! And who are you calling a vampiric dinosaur?? I'm not that old!” He raised a questioning eyebrow, his smile still present on his lips. “Now, is that the truth or a lie you fabricated out of thin air?” You rolled your eyes and looked away, facing your back against him.

You hear him chuckle in amusement before wrapping his arms around you, pulling you close to him. You could hear his heartbeat despite not putting your ear to his chest, and you could sense how his aura is calm, in peace. You liked this side of him, it was a side he showed only to you. And you loved being the special case.

Now, now, don't do that, sweetheart.” He whispered into your ears, his velvet voice deep and smooth, sending a shiver down your spine as you blushed. “I shouldn't have teased you.” You waited for his apology, but it never came. You should've encouraged him to apologize, that apologizing was alright, but you didn't. You didn't push any further than that.

You simply smiled and turned around inside of his arms, meeting his dark but warm amber colored eyes. You reached upwards to ruffle his blonde hair and let the both of your forehead meet, and you closed your eyes to hear his heartbeat better. “I forgive you," You smiled mischievously at him, "But only this one time.”

You swore you heard Dio's heartbeat race faster.

“What are we doing, Dio?” You giggled as he led you through wherever it is you are at, blindfolded. You could hear the leaves rustle, and the birds tweet. Your sharp senses assumed you were at a forest, and that there is a water source nearby. “Are you taking me to a—” Dio cut you off, a finger placed onto your lips as he did so. “Shhh, stop being such a detective and ruin the surprise, my dear.”

You chuckled and played along, pretending to not know where you were. You heard the drizzle of a waterfall, and you instantly knew where Dio led you. “Be a sweetheart and close your eyes for me, darling. And don't open them until I say so.” You hum, putting your trust in him. You felt him taking your blindfold off, and you heard him walking away.

You felt a bit uneasy, but you trusted Dio. You wanted to show him that you are trustworthy, that he can trust you with any task, and perhaps, any secret.

You hear footsteps coming towards you, and you hoped it was Dio. But Dio's footsteps were never purposefully quiet, because he knew that he wouldn't be able to fool you. “Dio?” You whispered hopefully, though it was for naught. You knew his scent, it was a very clean smell, which made you want to take more than a simple whiff sometimes. This human's smell.. Is putrid. As if they had come from the streets. Sweaty and sour, as if they hadn't showered for days.

This isn't Dio.

You immediately dodged the hand that darted towards you while you kept your eyes closed, subconsciously obeying Dio. You kept dodging and dodging, trying to figure out the position of the human. When you are certain, you strike the neck of the human meeting with the palm of your hand. You felt the human's adam apple, confirming his gender, and crushed his windpipe with your grasp.

Stop! Let him go, or else I'll kill your friend off!” Another male cut in, making you pause. Your friend? You came here with— Dio. No wonder it took him quite a while, he was caught. You frown as you slowly and reluctantly let go of the man in your grasp, letting him fall onto the ground with a thud, coughing and gasping for air.

You open your eyes, meeting the frantic gaze of Dio, who seemed very infuriated by the interruption of the two men. You bobbed your head upwards, “Let my friend go,” You ordered, keeping your hand close to the man beside you. “Or else.” The man clicks his tongue in annoyance and shoves Dio towards you. He rushes your way and holds your hands in his. Though he doesn't question it verbally, his eyes examined your figure, the worry in his eyes avid. You smiled happily at the appearance of his affection, “I'm fine. Are you?” You whispered, squeezing his hand as you looked for wounds, putting your hand to his cheek.

I'm fine. I was caught off guard, that's all.” He said, his eyes held a cold gleam, one that had you look at him in curiosity. What was he thinking? Before you could ask him though, a dagger was thrown his way, and you acted quickly, grabbing the dagger before it could reach him, your hand acting faster than your mind.

Dio's eyes widened at the surprise attack, before he furrowed his brows and grit his teeth, his amber eyes gleamed with such ferocity it went darker than before, making it seem as if his eyes were a dark red. There were flames of pure, fiery fury within his eyes. You felt your cheeks grow hot as you stared at the blonde in awe, lovestruck. “You dirty mongrels..” He spat out, growling audibly as he marched their way. The closest man to him immediately threw his hand up to hit Dio, but Dio was quicker, hitting him in the stomach before grabbing his arm and twisting it, making him fall onto his knees.

The other was about to throw yet another knife at Dio, but you intercepted, you made your Stand make a quick work of him. Throwing his knife away and piercing its hand into the man's body, making him shout in pain as it almost cut his arm off. Their eyes were wide and filled with fear, and they took off running with their tail between their legs.

You huff and put your hands on your hips, they have ruined your date with Dio! Before you could confront Dio about a second date without interruption however, Dio rushed towards you and grabbed your bloody hand, inspecting it with frantic eyes. You watched him run his eyes over your hand in wonder, as you watched his features change from panic, confusion, surprise, and then, awe.

You smiled, “A vampire's regeneration ability is very strong, the only thing that can harm us is the sunlight and fire— though not so much.” Dio met your gaze and pursed his lips together, he opened his mouth to say something before closing it back and averting his eyes. You knew what he wanted to say and made him face you again, a hand to his cheek.

It's not your fault,” You began, brushing his cheek, “It's none of our fault. It's their fault.” You finished with a kiss onto the bridge of his nose, before pressing your forehead against his. A sweet smile found its way to your lips, and so did Dio's. “I suppose I have you to thank for protecting me.” He whispered, making you chuckle as he enveloped you in his arms.

Your eyes twinkled excitedly, “A kiss would suffice as my reward, my sweet Dio.” You say as you wrapped your arms around his neck, earning a chuckle as a glimmer of mischief danced within his dark amber eyes. “Then a kiss is what you'll receive, my love.” His lips met yours in a passionate kiss, biting your bottom lip and gaining access into your mouth in an instance. He tasted like your favorite candy, making you want to taste him all the more.

Soon, you both parted your lips to take a breath, a single line of you and Dio's saliva mixed together extended in the air, making both you and Dio grimace before laughing at each other's faces, entangled in each other's arms.

Those were the somewhat carefree days you and Dio had, the days where you fell in love with him, and were the times you had missed the most.

Sometimes you wish vampires are perfect and that nothing could hurt or kill them.
