Chapter Text
Albus looked over at the thick envelope taking up the corner of his desk and more than half his mind. He wasn't a man used to being caught unawares. It made his skin itch. He set his quill down and reached for the heavy parchment once again. The creases were already well worn despite the letter being delivered less than a day ago. He did not expect to find any new information as he re-read through the contents, but still found himself irritated when no new message made itself known.
When he was a boy, Albus’s mother used to whisper stories about long forgotten deities. God’s enriched with old magick, a craving for fresh blood.
He looked down at the letter, tracing the elegant script with his finger.
Perhaps fresh blood was what he needed.
And only fool’s turned down the offer of a God.
War would come as surely as the next dawn would. If the old deities hungered, who was he to deny their appetite?
