Chapter Text

The next day wasn’t very eventful. You, of course, had the usual guards and soldiers wandering the castle grounds, but there was no other movement beside that. Time seemed to stand still when the king and his prince slept. Life only really ever resumed when they were awake and making preparations for the day, but neither of them had even bothered to take a single step out of Bakugo’s room all morning. It was almost noon, and the two of them were still in his room. Little did anyone know...Bakugo had been sobbing into Kirishima’s chest all night and all morning. His eyes ached from crying, though he couldn’t seem to stop. Kirishima had been up with him all night comforting Bakugo and hiding him with his wings in case someone walked in. “Bakugo...Bakugo hey...It’s okay. I’m right here...You’re okay…”

“I’m so sorry for worrying y-you…” Bakugo whimpered. His voice was gone from the strangulation he had suffered while on the boat.

“You didn’t worry me, Bakugo...You were taken, and that’s something you couldn’t control...it’s gonna be okay, Suki…” Kirishima replied. He then pushed Bakugo’s hair out of his face, then kissed him on the forehead and smiled down at him. Bakugo sniffled, then laughed through a sob.

“Thank you, Eiji...Thank you…” Bakugo whimpered once again.

“Of course, Suki...you know I hate seeing you cry, so I’ll always do my best to make you smile, okay?”

“Pff-...” Bakugo snickered, then wiped his nose. “You sound so much like that green haired nerd…good…” Bakugo said as he held Kirishima tighter. “I love you…”

“I love you too…You want me to call Hawks to bring us lunch?” Kirishima asked through a sigh. Bakugo nodded, then Kirishima stood up and grabbed a small, low toned bell, then went to the door, poked his head out, and rang it. Hawks came darting down the hallway with a smile on his face.

“Good morning, your majesty! Did you need something?” Hawks asked through harsh and rushed breaths.

“Would you mind bringing his highness and I some lunch?” Kirishima asked with a smile.

“Right away your majesty!” Hawks replied, then darted off back down the hallway once again. Kirishima could hear him calling out to the chefs to make him and Bakugo some lunch and giggled to himself, then shut the door and walked back over to Bakugo.

“Are you gonna be alright, Suki?” Kirishima asked as he sat down just in front of Bakugo. The king nodded, then sighed and leaned his head on Kirishima’s shoulder. It was almost like a no-arm hug, but more sentimental and sweet. “I’m glad.” Kirishima replied as Bakugo turned his head and smiled. Kirishima held his wing out, then cradled Bakugo in the crook of it as he fell asleep. He helped Bakugo lay his head back, then looked over to the door as a knock reverberated through the room. He stood up, then opened the door to see Hawks standing there with two plates of food.

“Here you are, your majesty! Enjoy your meal and tell the king I said hi!” Hawks said as he walked back down the hallway out of sight. Kirishima smiled, then walked back into Bakugo’s room and set Bakugo’s plate just next to him.

~The day passed by incredibly slowly. Kirishima woke in the middle of the night to see Bakugo sitting up right next to him. Kirishima sat up, then wrapped his wing around Bakugo. Bakugo flinched, then looked over at Kirishima with bloodshot eyes. “What are you doing up, Suki?” Kirishima asked tiredly.

“Nothing.” Bakugo replied with a growly undertone. Kirishima looked to Bakugo with concern, then grew slightly enraged.

“Bakugo. Please tell me what’s wrong. You’ve been up for two nights now…”

It’s nothing, Eijiro. Leave it be.” Bakugo replied, his voice growing a bit louder. Kirishima was so angry that he moved his wing off of Bakugo and walked to the balcony just outside of Bakugo’s window and spread his wings. “Where are you going?!” Bakugo shouted after Kirishima. He then walked out to the balcony and held onto Kirishima’s wrist. Kirishima slightly growled, then pulled his wrist away as a bit of smoke came out of his nose.

“I’m gonna go fly around for a bit. If you want to come with, you better be quiet. If you don’t want to tell me what’s wrong, then don’t.”

“Kirishima...Look...I was just debating telling you about this…” Kirishima’s interest was immediately piqued. He turned around and looked at Bakugo, then hopped off of the ledge and slowly moved his hand to hold Bakugo’s. “I uh- While I was being...attacked by the pirates, they took a rod with a sort of...symbol? On the end...it was...burning hot, and the ashes turned into a symbol on my arm. It had the letter K in the middle with small cogs on the side...I know it was meant to be a pirate type thing, but I was wondering...if people asked about it, could I tell them it was a tattoo meant to symbolize how much I love you? I mean- the K and everything...it would kinda make sense…”

“So that’s what was on your mind, huh?”

“Yeah…”

“...Of course you can. If it bothers you that much, you can. Sorry I almost flew off on you over nothing.”

“It’s fine. Sorry I didn’t tell you…”

“No Suki, I’m sorry. You had something on your mind and I pressured you into telling me. C’mere…” Kirishima said as he held out his arms and his wings flitted in the wind. Bakugo slowly walked over, then buried himself in Kirishima’s arms. Kirishima gently picked him up, then walked back over to his bed and laid him down. Bakugo almost immediately dove under the blanket and laid his head down on the pillow. Kirishima settled in next to him as his eyes began to flicker. Kirishima smiled, wrapped his arm around Bakugo, and pulled him into his chest.

Finally, Bakugo was able to rest without worry.
