slowdance

Summary:

tendou doesn‘t like fighting with you so being the good boyfriend he is, he tries to make it all better.

Work Text:

Tendou turned up the speaker sitting on top of the window still by his bed. He just needed to cool down. Do something to not implode, to not do something reckless out of sheer emotions and bare, raw nerves.

I‘m losing my faith in you

My long lost friend, Alice

He stepped back. He didn‘t like the song that much at first. But the melody was soothing to him and it was you who showed him that song. Maybe you would finally look at him again.

“Look, I don‘t wanna fight, yknow?“ Tendou leaned on the window still, the balls of his hands suporting his weight.

No response.

He sighed, deep and heavy. “Darling?“ Tendou put on his sing-sang voice for you. Something you giggled at on your first date but now it was met with more silence.

Roses have lost their colors,

And it‘s breaking my heart

Tendou remembered how you were crying to him the first time. The way you were clinging to his shirt, sobs bursting out your chest. He was pretty sure your snot smeared on his volley ball uniform. But seeing you like this pained him too much to really care.

And now he would give anything to make you cry like this again. Anything would be better than your silence. It was deafening and almost drowned out the music softly digging into his ears.

You take my breath away

And I don‘t know what to do

“Darling?“ Tendou tried again, walking towards the arm chair you sat in. You didn’t yell at him to stop it or leave you alone like before so he took that as a sign that you calmed down too.

Your body was slumped into the soft cushion, head leaning against the back rest. Of course, your head was still lulled to the side, away from Tendou. You were bratty like that after a fight.

Hell, he didn’t even know how it escalated or why you were fighting to begin with. You just drove him crazy sometimes.

He smiled his eerie smile at you.

Before you say your last word

That makes me want to lay you down

His hand found yours. “You can talk to me, yknow? I didn‘t mean to yell at you but you said some mean things. What was it?“ His unblinking eyes hovered over you for a moment, waiting. But you still wouldn‘t answer, still showed him your cold shoulder. “It was freak, huh? That hurts coming from you.“ He still didn‘t blink.

“Buuuut, I forgive my dearest darling. Why, you ask?“ He knew you wouldn‘t answer but he still gave you the chance to. “Because I love you.“ He sang the last line to you, hoping to get a chuckle from you. But it was met with even more silence.

Cut you into the pieces

And you‘ll feel the same

And you‘ll know my crave

And you‘ll see that I‘m the only one for you

Tendou pulled you up and towards his body. One lanky arm wrapping around your back while his other hand held your hand. You didn’t wail or push against him. Instead you accepted his affection, slouching into his chest, keeping your face buried in his soft sweater.

“See? Not so bad, huh?“ Still, you refused to physically acknowledge his attempts to talk to you. Sure, you just got out of a big fight but he was trying here. For you. For him.

His gangly frame swayed in the rhythm of the song while he held your pliant body softer than he ever held it before. He guided the both of you since you decided to throw your little tantrum.

But you don‘t understand

But you don‘t feel the same

And I throw you down into where you‘ve come from

Sooner of later Tendou fell into your silence too, staring down at your hair crown. He loved your hair and how it gleamed and glimmered softly under the shitty lightbulb in his room.

His humming didn‘t reach his own ears as he pressed your body into his. Tendou wasn‘t experienced in seriously dancing. But he practiced slow dancing ever since you showed him some video of a couple slow dancing in the rain.

He didn’t mind how passive you were. He was sure you didn‘t know how to dance and he was more than willing to show you once you got over yourself.

You‘re falling through the cracks of time

Only to remain the same

You‘re falling down the path you made

You‘re trapped in twilight

Your hand laid cold and heavy in his. But Tendou didn’t even notice since his hand was just as cold. He just indulged in the moment, already skipped through plans on how to win you back all over again. Maybe he could show you his newest hobby of making candy. He could make your favorite chocolate bar with you. Or he would watch a movie with you. Sure, he would just watch it because of the actress but you didn’t have to know. It was the thought that counted. Right?

Right.

His smile returned, eyes hooded and relaxed again.

Yeah, you would forgive him.

You always did.

He didn‘t stop when you shifted in his hold as he twirled you harder than before. “Are we done sulking?“ Tendou‘s eyes traveled down to meet yours. Your head stayed at an uncomfortable angle, fallen backwards limply. Your eyes didn‘t look into his like they used to. Instead, blood pooled in the inner corners as the gore dripped down your forehead from the angry gash.

The cold of your body already seeped through his shirt.

Or maybe it was the gushing wound soaking his clothes and carpet in your blood.

You‘ll never ever feel the pain

You‘ll never ever hear the morning rain
