Work Text:
Makoto slowly opened his eyes...he was in a classroom…
Well that’s an unnerving way to start my time here at Hope. I hope the other students don’t think less of me.
As he slowly came to his senses his eyes adjusted as he was able to focus around him. His eyes eventually came to a stop as he noticed a note on one of the desks near him. It looked childish and harmless…
“Hey there new kid! The next semester is about to start. Starting today, this school will be your entire world.”
He felt like he must have misread it and read the note again to confirm it’s message…
How strange, I was expecting something way more formal...I don’t think I’ve received a message like this since grade school.
He looked at the clock, recognizing that the orientation could be starting at any moment.
I better hurry over there!
…
Eventually he made his way through the double doors to see about fifteen other people congregating in the room all looking at each other.
“Gh-gh-ghosts aren’t real!” A boy in purple yelled with a bravado that thinly veiled his feelings of terror.
Another boy a little taller with unruly hair yelled back, “Nuh-uh! I saw one two days ago!”
“Will you stop it!” A boy in a bright yellow jumpsuit screeched at the two of them, “You’re freaking me out!”
A redhead snapped towards the three boys away from her camera, “Will you three shut up?! We’re trying to figure out why we’re here!”
“And besides,” A rather heavy boy with glasses announced, “Another challenger has approached!” pointing his hand dramatically at Makoto.
…
Per the Lolita girl, everyone agreed that introducing themselves to each other was a good idea. Makoto looked around, it seemed as a whole everyone was pretty nice though he definitely found himself feeling uneasy with the idea of talking to the redhead girl from earlier and the girl who had quickly accused a few of the boys of being degenerate males. Oh and the white haired boy who when the girl threatened with violence happily agreed that he was deserving of that.
What...what the hell was that?
…
“And if you pay up front I’ll do a tarot card reading for you too!” Yasuhiro boasted happily.
A bead of sweat made its way down the side of Makoto’s face, “I..er...need to meet more people.”
“Oh, yeah I get it, well let me know when you want your reading!” the other boy insisted on.
Makoto turned to whoever was next to see Ibuki there. Ibuki gave him a huge smile, “Give me an I!”
Makoto held his hands awkwardly, “Ibuki, I know it’s you, I’ve heard you make people do this introduction a couple times now…”
Ibuki gave him an unreadable expression for a few seconds before sucking in a deep breath of air, “GIVE ME AN I!”
Makoto put his hand to his head in grief, “Uhh….I….”
…
Makoto quickly moved as Hifumi fell near him.
“Don’t ever call me a tsun-whatever it was ever again!” Tenko shouted at the boy.
“Her form is sloppy,” Nekonaru noted, picking his nose.
Ewwww….does he just pick his nose whenever he feels like it...that’s got to be...really unsanitary.
Nekomaru put his hand to his stomach with a look of urgency, “Shit! Hey, do you remember where the bathrooms are?!”
Makoto’s eyes widened, “Uhhh...why?”
…
He saw the boy in white turn from fawning over Akane who was...picking her ear.
Why are ultimates...so gross?
The boy turned to him, “I’m Nagito Komaeda, it’s nice to meet you, but I know I am going to disappoint you.”
Makoto’s brow furrowed with concern, “Huh? Why is that?”
Nagito looked down at his hand, “My talent is a curse, a pox I wouldn’t wish upon my worst enemy. I think of this talent and I can only think of pure and utter disgust.”
Makoto gulped, “I...I’m sorry to hear that, what talent is it?”
…
The boy with the pompadour turned to the girl in yellow with his fist clenched and face red. He walked up to her clearly imposing his physique to demonstrate how much taller and stronger than he was than her, “What part of I’m not fucking interested in your Atua bullshit do you not understand!!!”
The girl then...smiled and laughed, “Nyahaha!!! You’re funny!” her face seemed to lose all color as she pointed at him, “Those who do not eventually submit themselves suffer the most extreme consequences.”
Makoto looked back and forth at the tall and pissed off biker dude to the small, petite blond girl who was even shorter than him. He considered his options.
“Hey excuse me, Mondo, right?”
...
The group reconvened with Hifumi nursing his back.
Sakura crossed her arms, “I do believe it is in our best interest to avoid violence whenever possible.”
Tenko looked away, “If those boys behave themselves.”
Mahiru rolled her eyes, “Besides, now is the time we need you boys to step up.”
Yasuhiro scratched his chin, “Why do we have to step up? You can do it.”
Kaito elbowed him, “Come on man, of course we’ll step up! And I won’t let you or my other sidekick back out either.”
Kazuichi grumbled, but didn’t contradict ‘his leader.’
Hina glanced at the doors nervously, “So...what do we do now?”
*Ding Dong Bing Bong*
“Ahem! Ahem!” a misplaced cheery voice rang out.
“It’s a phantom!” Yasuhiro hissed, before Kaito elbowed him in the side.
“Testing, Testing! Mike check, one two! This is a test of the school broadcast system!”
Makoto could feel his skin start to crawl, what was that?
“Am I on? Can everybody hear me? Okay, well then…”
Makoto glanced around the room, some of the fighters were tensed up as if they were ready to defend themselves, others had adopted close body positions.
“Ahh, to all incoming students! I would like to begin the incoming entrance ceremony at...right now! Please make your way to the gymnasium at your earliest convenience. That’s all, I’ll be waiting!”
Kazuichi’s eyes bulged as his hands drew back as if he had been shocked, “Like hell I’m going there!” He turned towards the other doors and quickly ran out.
“Hey! Where do you think you’re going?!” Mahiru shouted.
“Let him run,” Celeste chuckled, “Some of us will surely let our emotions get the best of us.”
Kaito rubbed his chin, “He’s going to need a lot of work.”
Ibuki tapped her fingers together nervously, “Wh-what should we do?”
Sakura put a steady hand on the musician's shoulder, “I believe we do not have any path, but forward.”
Makoto took a deep breath, Sakura was obviously right, but…
Mondo cracked his knuckles, “Let’s get this over with,” and made his way towards where the gym must have been.
Mahiru sighed, “I’m going to go get Kazuichi, I’ll tie him up if I have to.” Kaito gave her a thumbs up as she in turn gave him a dirty look.
Nagito cleared his throat, “I think it is time, I know you all can overcome this.”
Makoto felt slightly lighter hearing those words, that encouragement, “Nagito, you make a good point.”
The other luckster quickly spun to face Makoto giving him a look of...disappointment, “I guess you count too.”
…
Mondo’s jaw tightened to the point it was twitching, he grabbed Yasuhiro’s shoulder and pushed him out of the way leaving him standing inches away from Monokuma, “Listen up, asshole! This shit’s gone way too far! What the hell kind of joke IS this!?”
The bear Monokuma leaned his head to the side, paw to his mouth, “Joke? What, you mean like your hair?”
“Oooohhhh,” Ibuki murmured.
Mondo let out a cry of rage as he launched himself straight at Monokuma lifting the bear up in the air. “Gotcha you little piece of shit! I dunno if you’re a toy or whatever the hell!” Mondo’s eyes narrow on Monokuma, “Either way I’m going to rip you to shreds.”
Monokuma’s arms flailed around him, “Violence against the headmaster is in violation of school regulations!”
Mahiru put her hand over her other shoulder holding herself, “This isn’t going to end well.”
Kaito turned to her clenching his fist, “Hey! I believe in Mondo!”
The group’s attention went back to Mondo and Monokuma. Mondo belted at the bear, “Shut the fuck up! Let me out of here, or I swear to Christ…”
*Beep*
Something is wrong...why is the bear doing that?
Mondo continued to berate Monokuma as the beeping started to get louder.
“B-b-”
Makoto heard behind him turning to see a terrified looking Kazuichi with his face turning blue.
“Bomb!” The mechanic shrieked.
The class turned back to Mondo who had heard the mechanic. The biker looked at him, “What?”
“Throw it!” Tenko yelled.
Mondo turned back to the bear and-
*BOOM*
The explosion rippled through the classroom, catching the biker and propelling him sideways into a wall against the gym.
Makoto’s ears could only hear silence and then.
There is screaming, someone is screaming.
His ears eventually adjusted and…
I...I’m screaming.
He took a breath as he looked around at the others. Mahiru, Hina and Tenko were shaking and crying, Ibuki was in disbelief. Kaito and Yasuhiro both looked equally sick to their stomachs with Kazuichi closing his eyes and the ground blubbering. Nekomaru was looking down gritting his teeth, but some of the others….
Angie walked over to Mondo, examined what was an obvious, now corpse and closed her eyes with a smile, “Atua has welcomed Mondo into his kingdom.”
“What the fuck is wrong with you!” Kaito yelled at her, “He just died!”
“I agree.”
The class turned to Nagito. The scowling boy put his hand to his hair, “This was such a waste, if he wanted to challenge Monokuma I would have gladly been in the way had I known.”
Makoto’s eyes pulsated in shock.
He...he...what
Monokuma then popped back up from behind the podium, “Wowzers!” the bear glanced at all of them for a second, “What’s wrong? You all look like someone died.”
Akane made a beeline for the bear before a strong hand grabbed her by the scruff of the neck. Nekomaru glanced at the bear before looking back at Akane, “Slow down, let’s not lose another life today.”
“I can take him!” the gymnast definitely roared.
“I must agree with Nekomaru,” Sakura added calmly, “We do not know what the bear is capable of.”
Celeste cleared her throat, “Monokuma, I have a question, as someone has now died, what do you mean by culprit and discovered?”
…
Makoto walked shakily to his room. No one had been in the mood to eat or talk really. This game was real, their lives were at stake and one of them had already died. Monokuma had taunted them telling them that next time they needed to make it interesting and kill one another.
Makoto pulled his pillow over his eyes, this had to be a bad dream. He held the pillow there as long as he could hoping that when he opened his eyes, he’d be at home with his sister who was about to bug him to watch an anime with her.
Like a child opening their eyes to see if enough time had passed to open their Christmas presents Makoto internally hoped and bargained for what he wanted to be true...but upon opening his eyes to this bedroom and stuck bathroom door, it was clear...he was in a place of despair.
...
“I know what we all saw yesterday was traumatic for everyone,” Sakura continued casting a briefly concerned glance at Hina, “But I want to encourage everyone to continue to work together to find a way out.”
The group turned to hear a rattling noise as they all saw Nagito beam with a smile before standing up from his shaking chair, “To see you guide us all on and to give us a purpose of working together is truly beautiful.”
The group paused before Nagito continued self-deprecating himself for saying something that was clearly inappropriate.
Mahiru cleared her throat, it was evident that like Makoto, she had barely slept, “S-so, what do we d-do now?”
“Maybe it would be best if we split up and looked for clues,” Makoto suggested.
The class thought it over. Nagito responded first, “It’s nice to see you try to contrib-”
“That sounds good to me,” Kaito remarked.
“Yes, it is a good plan.” Celeste continued.
“It seems all major parties have agreed on a common goal,” Hifumi concluded in his announcer tone.
Tenko stood up, “Tenko calls Sakura and Hina for her group!”
…
“And that’s why I recommend at least double the amount of daily fiber guidelines for my athletes,” Nekomaru finished.
Makoto put his finger to the side of his face awkwardly.
I just asked you why you had that water bottle.
Nekomaru took in Makoto’s expression before letting out a huge belly laugh, “Oh, you’ll have to excuse me, I just get so excited about helping my athletes.” he gestures to his water bottle, “I have this because you never know when you’ll need to take a shit and the last thing you’ll want to do is be dehydrated when that happens, it’s especially dangerous for anyone malnourished.”
Makoto glanced over at Akane with a ‘are you listening to this?’ expression only to see the gymnast sniffing at some of her ear wax on her finger.
How...how did I end up in this group?
…
“And apparently Monokuma restocks the kitchen everyday,” Hifumi added.
“Yes,” Angie said, hands in prayer position, “Even though Monokuma has set this up, we are quite blessed with the selection we have. The bear even told us of some of his favorite recipes when asked.”
Celeste turned to everyone else, “You have heard from our group, who wants to go next?”
Mahiru rolled her eyes, “Where are those boys?”
“Oh!” Ibuki raised her hand, “Ibuki thinks she hears them...arguing.”
The door opened with Kaito and Yasuhiro arguing back and forth with Kazuichi with his hands rubbing his face in annoyance behind them.”
“Y-you didn’t hear Mondo!” Kaito yelped angrily at Yasuhiro, “F-for the last time ghosts aren’t real!”
Unseen by the others Celeste, with a Cheshire grin on her face, walked around the table out of the periphery of the boys only to walk next to Kaito, “Boo!”
Kaito’s face turned a purple shade similar to his hair, “Aaaarrrrgggghhhh!” within milliseconds turned his body back to the door and bolted in that direction.
Monokuma appeared at the edge of the cafeteria in front of the still open doors, “Well, it looks like you all-gwawk!”
Unbeknownst to anyone Monokuma had appeared right in Kaito’s path who instinctively punted the bear across the main hall and through the door of the changing room. But unfortunately…
Kaito paused, registering what had happened before letting out an, “Oh shit” as the guns whirred and fixed their aim right on him.
*Bang, bang, bang*
The Luminary of the Stars died before even hitting the ground.
“Aaarrrggghhh!!!” several classmates screamed in unison.
“N-not again!” Tenko wailed.
Angie rubbed her chin, “Oh my, this is rather unfortunate.”
Another Monokuma appeared at the door pointing at the class, “What the hell is wrong with you kids! I give you all these nice accommodations and you have attacked me twice resulting in your own deaths!”
Celeste, having returned to the table, lifted her tea cup, “Perhaps you should remove the dangerous guns and bombs attached to you.”
The bear looked down with a frown as he silently walked closer and closer until he was on the table staring down Celeste, “I think it can be argued that you caused that.”
Celeste put her other hand to her mouth in surprise, “Oh my, I did not realize you considered each of us to be so devoid of will, that we cannot be responsible for how our own limbs move.”
Monokuma silently looked at her for two seconds before walking out of the room.
Makoto pinched himself before turning to a shaken up Ibuki, “Hey, w-we’re going to be okay.”
Nagito walked over to Kaito and looked down shaking his head before turning back to the class, “If any of you at any point wish to kill someone, please ask me so we can avoid any more of these-”
“Shut up Nagito!” Kazuichi yelled.
…
The group quietly spent the rest of their days on their own, some people spending time together comforting each other. Cliques were starting to form and it was becoming clear as to who was part of one versus those, Nagito, Angie, Hifumi, Celeste, who were more of outsiders.
The group had agreed to meet for dinner that night. Makoto noticed Nekomaru taking a bite out of his chicken sandwich glancing at Yasuhiro who returned his gaze.
Angie’s eyes sparkled, “But if you join now Atua will give you a hammock in the afterlife too for free.”
Makoto rubbed his head, “I...I think I’m okay,”
“Yeah same,” Nekomaru nodded, “And no disrespect, but I have come to peace with my life and thereafter.”
Yasuhiro rubbed his chin, “I might be able to do a reading for you, Angie, depending on what you or Atua can compensate.”
Angie’s eyes lit up, “Oh, Atua is a most generous God as a matter of fact.” she glanced at the clock, “I should be doing a ritual, you’re welcome to join Hiro!”
Yasuhiro looked at the other two with doubt, “Uhhhh...what type of ritual?”
Angie bobbed her head back and forth, “Oh just a blood ritual.”
JUST a blood ritual?!
Makoto stood up, hand out as if pushing something away, “No! That sounds too dangerous!”
Angie stood up bouncing on the heels of her feet, “It’s fine, something I always do with others.” she made her way to the kitchen grabbing a knife.
The rest of the class stopped talking to look at her.
Makoto walked closer to Angie, “But if no one else is going with you it could be dangerous.”
“Nyah!” Angie beamed walking over and hugging Makoto as the boy inched his body as far from the knife as he could, “You are so sweet Makoto!”
“Uh Angie,” Hina looked at her warily, “What are you planning on doing?”
“Oh a blood ritual.”
Kazuichi spat out some water with a little bit accidentally hitting Akane who didn’t seem to care and Mahiru who punched his arm, “Ow! Hey what was that for!”
Mahiru ignored him and turned to Angie, “By yourself?”
Celeste waved her hand, “She seems perfectly content with this idea.”
Hifumi put his hand to his mouth, “A young maiden, engaging in who knows what rituals…” his mouth started to drool, “All by herself.”
Dude…
Nekomaru grabbed his sandwich and stuffed it into Hifumi’s mouth before Tenko could move to the other side of the table.
Nagito perked up, “I would be happy to share my blood.”
Angie looked at him, appraising him for a few seconds, “I think I’m good.”
“Denied,” Ibuki chirped as the group watched Angie walk away.
…
The group finished their eating and after talking decided it was time to go to bed. Makoto felt a twinge of dread as he looked at the clock, “Hey guys...uh...how long is a blood ritual supposed to take?”
The class looked at each other uneasily before Hina raised a finger, “D-does anyone want to check on her.”
Celeste pulled out a deck of cards, “We could draw for it.”
…
Makoto walked with Sakura and Nagito towards Angie’s room while everyone else waited in the kitchen.
Makoto looked at Sakura, “I’m glad you’re here, you always help us stay calm.”
Sakura smiled, “It isn’t much, and I am glad to be able to be helpful during these challenging times.”
Nagito beamed at the martial artist, “To capture your talent in not just what you do, but how you are. It is truly inspiring.”
The three stopped at Angie’s room.
*Knock knock*
Nothing.
*Knock knock*
Nothing.
Sakura turned to the two boys, “Leave this to me.”
…
Monokuma kicked at Angie’s bed in anger, “For fucks sake, don’t you fucking kids know that knives are dangerous!!”
The group averted their eyes from Angie’s body who in an artistic inspiration accidentally had slipped and pierced a major artery.
Monokuma raised his paws at the rest of the class, “Tomorrow at noon you all will be at the gym for a mandatory meeting on watching a safety training video and then a motive! Stop killing yourselves, you fucking idiots!!!”
“Well to be fair,” Yasuhiro countered, “You killed two of us.”
Hina hit the fortune teller, “Be more sensitive!”
Monokuma sent the clairvoyant a withering glare before disappearing from the room.
…
Makoto climbed into his bed, it hadn’t been even two days and their group was already three people fewer.
Makoto rolled over and screamed into his pillow. What the hell was this? Why was there so much death? Why were the safety regulations so poor in this place? And knowing his luck-
I’m going to roll over onto Monokuma in my sleep and get executed.
He opened his eyes looking at the ceiling, he just wanted to go home.
…
Makoto’s eye twitched at Hina’s plate.
Has she eaten anything other than a donut?
Hina noticed his gaze and self-consciously covered her food, “What?” she asked defensively.
“I…” Makoto trailed off, “Was admiring your excellent choice of breakfast.”
Tenko to the other side of Hina turned towards the swimmer, “Hey, is he bothering you?”
Hina waved her off, “No, he’s fine.”
Tenko eyed Makoto for a bit, “He has been pretty good for a degenerate hasn’t he?” before turning back to Sakura.
Yeesh, how often does a man get a compliment like that?
He opened his mouth to talk to Hina again as he was interrupted by the smell of chicken and a boisterous laugh, “Nothing like all natural protein from an entire chicken I roasted myself!”
Nekomaru sat down next to Kazuichi, slapping the other boy on the back and taking a huge bite out of his sandwich.
Makoto’s eye twitched as something was off...besides Kazuichi who had fallen out of his chair. He turned back to Hina, “So I just thought as an athlete you’d eat you know…”
Hina narrowed her eyes at him, “No, I don’t know. What do you mean?”
Hifumi, who apparently had been listening, chimed in, “He thought you ate healthier.”
“That’s rich coming from you!” Hina retorted, pointing at Hifumi’s plate.
Makoto arched back in surprise.
They...they’re eating the same thing…
Hina crossed her arms, “And I exercise my food off, it doesn’t take very much time.”
Very much time.
“That’s it!” Makoto exclaimed looking at Nekomaru and ignoring everyone else looking at him. “Nekomaru, how long did you cook that chicken for?”
Nekomaru paused, “Well, I,” his eyes opened up in shock, “Oh shit! I forgot to time the chicken!”
“But you tested it, right?!” Mahiru asked, horrified.
Nekomaru turned a shade of green before clutching his stomach, “I...I need to go…” and charged out of the kitchen.
“Should we…” Makoto trailed off, “Check up on him?”
Kazuichi put his hand to his head, “Y-you want to check on him when he’s...doing that?”
Makoto shuddered, “Y-yeah you’re probably right.”
…
“I’m just saying,” Makoto continued, “I feel like it isn’t healthy.”
Nagito scoffed, “I don’t think you’re in any position to question a real ultimate.”
“Don’t..” Ibuki turned between the two confused, “Don’t you two have the same talent?”
Nagito ignored her staring daggers at Makoto, “Hifumi has tremendous value for mankind, what have you done?”
“Yeah,” Hina remarked sarcastically, “I’m sure books about some boy wooing the girl of his dreams is really groundbreaking.”
Tenko cracked her knuckles, “How exactly does that happen?”
Celeste turned to Hifumi, “Makoto is right, your diet will not sustain you if we are here for the long term.”
Hifumi puffed out his chest, “Nonsense, nothing will stand in my way of my creations springing to life!”
Akane kicked her feet from her chair, bored, “Man, is it time to go to our training yet?”
Sakura looked down at the gymnast, “It is to start in about 30 minutes.”
“Hey guys,” Kazuichi said with his voice dripping with concern, “Nekomaru has been gone a really long time.”
…
“As you know there are 52 cards in a deck,” Celeste explained, “And I think in this situation only two of us are required to check on Nekomaru due to...the circumstances. Therefore I have laid out ten face cards and two non-face cards, specifically the two of spades and two of clubs.”
Makoto gulped as several of the others drew cards. He placed his hand on one card willing it to be any face card.
He flipped it over and saw two clubs staring back at him.
“Awww man,” he whined.
“Oh...you’re my partner,” a disappointed and critical voice said beside him.
Makoto looked over to Nagito who was holding the other two.
Celeste giggled, “I am most curious how you two became lucky students.”
...
The two ‘lucky’ students made their way to Nekomaru’s dorm.
Makoto deliberated for the sixth time whether to try talking to Nagito or not, knowing he would probably regret it, but was too curious.
“So...why are you the ultimate lucky student?” he looked down, “I’m not sure why I am, I can remember way more times of being unlucky than lucky.”
Nagito regarded him with a look of boredom, “Thinking to befriend me as the other worthless ultimate here? I-” the other boy paused and then pointed to Makoto’s room, “Isn’t that Nekomaru’s water bottle?”
Makoto’s mouth dropped following Nagito’s point. Sure enough Nekomaru’s water bottle was laying on its side, appearing to have been dropped. The two boys looked at each other for a few seconds before turning the corner only to see Monokuma standing outside of Nekomaru’s door looking at.
“Did you know Nekomaru had a heart condition?” the bear asked dejectedly without turning around, “Apparently dehydration and dysentery could cause his heart to have a reaction.”
Nagito and Makoto glanced at each other again before Makoto approached the bear, “So...you mean, Nekomaru is-”
The bear sighed and looked down.
“You didn’t know?” Makoto asked.
“Are you kidding me?!” Monokuma shouted, “WITH HIPAA THESE DAYS?!” the bear exhaled and regained his composure, “No...I didn’t.”
Nagito walked up next to the bear, “Is there any reason you didn’t bring him his water?”
Monokuma waved his hands in the air, turning on the boy with a scowl, “You think I didn’t consider that! I ORCHESTRATED THIS KILLING GAME! Do you have any idea the amount of contracts and paperwork I had to fill out,” the bear paces back and forth hands on it’s hand, “It’s amazing how bureaucracy survives even a state of-” the bear pauses and regains its composure. “You all are adults! I shouldn’t have to be responsible for having you be competent enough to remember to drink water, YOU'RE ULTIMATE FOR FUCKS SAKES!!!”
Makoto felt some drops of beads forming on his head, “Wait...aren’t we sixteen??”
The bear stared at him for a couple of seconds before putting his paw behind his head, “Exactly! You’re essentially adults!”
Nagito squinted at the bear, “Which is it?”
The bear looked back and forth between the two boys.
He’s going to disappear.
“Wait!” Makoto shouted, “Since we know Nekomaru is-” he frowned, “dead, do, do we still -”
“Do you still have to find him to confirm it?” Monokuma answered, “Well….”the bear looked at the two boys for a few seconds, “Yes.’
“Oh come on!” Makoto cried, holding his head with his hands.
“No surprise,” Nagito concluded, “Trash like us deserve this type of role around real ultimates.”
Makoto looked at the other boy with a mixture of anger, sadness and disbelief.
I...would never commit a murder...but I can see how some people would cause others to want to do that.
…
“Nekomaru…” Akane stood downcast a couple feet outside his door.
“Akane, are you…” Hina trailed off before exchanging a worried look with Ibuki.
Hifumi sighed, “We are dropping one by one.”
Mahiru glanced at Makoto, “And you’re sure he’s-”
“YES!” Makoto yelled. He paused and collected himself, noticing Mahiru and Tenko’s sour looks, “I’m sorry, I just...I wouldn’t wish what we had to do to confirm his death to anybody.”
Akane looked up, “Nekomaru, I will avenge you.”
Yasuhiro and Kazuichi exchanged a look before the mechanic spoke up, “He...uh...died of dysentery, how are you going to avenge that?”
Yasuhiro let out a small snicker, “I thought that only happened in Oregon Trail.”
Akane ignored the two boys and stared at the camera, “Show yourself Monokuma!”
Everyone waited only to get no answer.
Sakura cleared her throat, “It appears that the bear has no desire to engage with us.”
“How unfortunate,” Celeste giggled.
Akane turned with a glare towards the others, “That’s not going to stop me.”
Sakura stepped forward holding her hands up and using a soothing voice, “Akane, I must strongly implore you-”
Akane bolted towards the hallway with Sakura immediately running after her. The rest of the class watched with awe seeing the two athletes' stamina on display.
Nagito beamed, “It’s a wonder that any other athlete would even compete when either of them” he pointed to Sakura and Akane, “How could you even try when they would be your competition.”
Makoto glanced at the two girls, despite Nagito possibly being the worst person he had ever met, the other boy had a point.
Sakura soon returned to the group, “It is incredible, I have never met anyone with such boundless energy.”
“You should come to one of my concerts!” Ibuki cheered.
Makoto glanced at the horned girl, he didn’t doubt for a second that she might be able to top Akane’s energy.
“Hey guys,” Kazuichi asked, “Where did she go?”
The group looked around, Akane was gone.
*Crash!*
Makoto put his hands to his face.
Oh no.
…
Monokuma stood there silently in the gym as Akane laid lifeless several feet away. The group looked around in awe at the trashed room.
Two of the metal guns were on the ground, broken DVD’s and DVD players littered the floors.
“Whoa,” Hina murmured, “What happened here?”
Mahiru sighed, “She must have destroyed everything.”
“Isn’t that against the rules,” Kazuichi asked.
Hifumi rubbed his chin, “It certainly is.”
Celeste nodded, “And it seems our dear Akane reaped the consequences.”
“Hey Monokuma,” Yasuhiro asked, earning a glare from everyone else for bothering the bear, “What’s all this stuff on the ground?”
The bear looked at the fortune teller, before starting to seethe and make his way over to the clairvoyant.
“Oh...nothing much,” the bear added, “Just your motive, something I had to work really hard to set up for you guys.”
“Motive?” Ibuki asked wide-eyed.
Yasuhiro recoiled as Monokuma’s eye turned red and claws extended. The bear continued until he was only a few feet away, “And THAT girl wouldn’t stop. I dodged and dodged and dodged and then she started breaking my stuff.”
“Erm…” Mahiru briefly looked at Ibuki before looking at the bear, “I don’t know why I am asking, but surely you had copies, right?”
Kazuichi looked at the carnage, “Most of the stuff is broken beyond repair, but everything here should be easy to replace.”
“Easy to replace?!” The bear’s voice cracks, “Easy to replace?! What about SETTING UP A KILLING GAME with sixteen ultimates?!?! Do you think we can just grab any random Joe-Schmoe fanboy or fangirl, slap a talent on them and have people watch that?!”
Tenko tapped her fingers together nervously, “I’m sure if enough people are interested-”
Monokuma put a paw over his brow, “The appreciation for art died when that stupid girl decided to do A BLOOD RITUAL IN A KILLING GAME!”
The bear started to hyperventilate as the class looked at each other silently.
Makoto cleared his throat looking at the others, “So...uhhhhh...we’re gonna go…”
The bear quickly turned, “NO YOU ARE NOT! I DO HAVE COPIES AND WE WILL BE VIEWING THEM IN TWENTY MINUTES!”
Hifumi looked at Celeste, “Didn’t he also say we were going to have a safety training?”
Monokuma raised his paws, “STOP BEING IDIOTS!!!! ARGH!!! There! That’s your training!”
Yasuhiro elbowed Kazuichi, “I think he was talking to you, right there.”
“HEY!”
…
Soon enough the class remaining eleven students were sitting down in the video room preparing to watch a DVD assigned for each of them.
Makoto put in his DVD and saw his parents and sister before the scene changed and a voice mocked him to ‘find out after graduation’.
He felt sick to his stomach and looked around wildly. He noticed that many of his peers had the same expression. Despite everyone’s looks of fear and bewilderment no one had panicked and left to do anything stupid.
“There!” Monokuma said proudly, “Now that we have a motive you all can finally kill each other!”
A hand rose, “If I may,” the class turned to see Celeste.
Monokuma groaned, “Not you, what do you want?”
“Well,” Celeste put her hand to her chin, “Do you have any proof that those in our videos are still alive? Isn’t it a common practice in these situations for the captors to kill the captives as it’s simply easier and they are less likely to escape?”
Kazuichi moved his chair away from the gambler, shielding himself behind Mahiru and Tenko who fixed him with a glare.
Monokuma stood silently for several seconds before hanging his head in shame and grabbing the video motives. He left the room without another word.
“So...so our loved ones are dead?” Mahiru lamented.
Sakura stood up, “I believe it is best not to think about this for our loved ones might be shown a video of us if they are in a similar situation.”
Hifumi dramatically raised a finger, “But you forget...Monokuma specifically wants a game with only ultimates!”
Nagito lifted a hand smiling, “I didn’t have anyone in my video, oh and if anyone needs to kill someone-”
“Ack!” Hina yelped recoiling, “Will you stop saying that?!”
Nagito bowed towards her, “If my words have offended you, then I’d-”
“SHUT UP NAGITO!”
…
The group made their way back towards the cafeteria when Ibuki pointed towards the gate, “The gate is gone!” she then pointed down, “And I found a shiny coin!”
The group, unsurprisingly, found the first point substantially more important.
“But, why did this open?” Makoto asked.
Monokuma appeared behind them, “Because…..I’m bored and I want at least some of you to enjoy the renovations I worked so hard on.”
Tenko jumped back several feet, “Ack! Don’t sneak up on us!” She took a couple of breaths before she gave Monokuma an askance glance, curling her lip, “What degenerate things have you provided for us?”
“Well, there’s a pool and-”
“LET’S GO!” Hina shouted, grabbing Tenko’s arm with her left hand and Sakura’s arm with her right, leading the three down the hall.
“Kids these days,” Monokuma grumbled.
…
How to Win Friends and Influence People
Makoto turned the book to the other side to look at it more.
Maybe if I ask one of the others to give this to Nagito he’ll read it.
“Ugh, nothing here is worth of note,” Hifumi remarked with disdain.
Mahiru put her hands on her hips, “Are you kidding me?! There are plenty of educational books!”
Hifumi stood from his seat before wobbling a little, “Woah.”
Ibuki giggled, “Ibuki sometimes does that for fun too!”
Makoto turned to the fanfic writer, “Hey, are you okay?”
Hifumi’s face slacked, “Uhhh...I kind of have a headache-”
Mahiru glared at him, “Like I said, you need to eat better! Even Kazuichi and Yasuhiro have eaten something that once grew.”
“Technically, skittles grew...from sugar,” Hifumi whined. He glanced at Mahiru’s unamused expression, yelped and made his way out.
Makoto said goodbye to the others and made his way to the other area.
…
“I wouldn’t go out there,” Kazuichi implored him from a bench in the locker room as he was drying himself off...in his jumpsuit.
“Yeah!” Yasuhiro frowned, “We wanted to go swimming and then Tenko threw Kazuichi into the pool for being around her while she’s in a swimsuit.”
“And then Hina yelled at me for getting my grease in the pool,” Kazuichi moaned.
Makoto rubbed his eyes, “What about the bathhouse?”
The other two boys looked at each other sadly before Kazuichi turned to Makoto, “Nagito is in there.”
Oh.
…
“You have five seconds to get back in that locker room degenerate!” Tenko yelped, “You almost gave me a heart attack!”
Makoto covered his eyes, “What if I don’t look? And I’m sorry for having made you jump!”
He couldn’t tell what was going on, with his eyes closed and all until he felt a hand on his shoulder with him flinching and curling into a ball.
“Do not fret,” Sakura soothingly told him, “Tenko has agreed that’s fine.”
I’ll have to come back here at some point to actually look at this.
He heard Hina, “Tenko you almost fell into the pool when you jumped back.”
“That’s no good because Tenko can’t swim!”
Makoto opened his eyes in shock, “Why are you here and standing near the deep end of the pool?!”
Tenko fell into a fighting stance, “I don’t need advice from you! So far this is the best place to train, my dojo had a lake next to it and,” her voice softened, “It reminds me of home.”
Makoto sighed, “Okay, that makes sense, just be careful.”
Tenko briefly smiled before scowling and walking towards him “Your eyes aren’t covered!”
“Ack!”
…
“Hey Makoto! My favorite vertically disadvantaged boy!” Ibuki crooned, “Ibuki was wondering-”
“WAIT, WHAT?!” Makoto paled, “What did you say about my height?”
Ibuki gave Makoto a pitying look, “It’s okay, Ibuki is short too.”
Makoto crossed his arms, “You’re a girl!”
Ibuki put her arm around him, “Ibuki thinks you’d be great in her band.”
Makoto sighed, “What do you want Ibuki?”
Ibuki held out a coin, “Have you found any of these?”
…
Makoto stared at Hina’s plate.
Where does it all go? How is it I’ve seen her only eat donuts and protein shakes? WHY DOES MONOKUMA ENABLE HER?
“But like for real,” Yasuhiro said hands out, “Can any of you prove we weren’t abducted by aliens?”
Kazuichi face-palmed, “I think I’m dumber from having listened to you.”
Hifumi groaned clutching his stomach, “Argh,”
“Is something wrong?” Makoto asked.
Hifumi turned to the other boy, “I...uhhhhh...don’t feel well.”
Celeste finished sipping her tea with a peaceful expression, “And believe me when I say I am very worried about you.”
Clearly.
Hifumi stood up, “I need something...hearty.”
“Now that I think about it,” Mahiru noted looking to the side, “We don’t know how long we’ve lost our memories for.”
“It’s been a while though,” Kazuichi responded, “I mean the Monopad says you’re 5’4, right?”
“Yeah,” The redhead replies, “I’ve been that height since the end of middle school.”
Kazuichi looked around, “Well, according to my memories I should be that height too.”
Wait...how long has it been...HAVE I SERIOUSLY NOT GROWN AT ALL?!?! THIS SUCKS!!!
“I mean, it can’t have been that long, right?” Hina asked, “Like if we had forgotten a year or two while in highschool, we’d immediately notice if anyone had a growth spurt, seems like a pretty big oversight.”
The door opened from the hall with Nagito walking in, “Oh! You are all here enjoying a nice meal together!”
Ugh, until you showed up.
“Yeah, until you showed up,” Yasuhiro said under his breath.
Makoto looked at the fortune teller, with his mouth agape in horror.
I think like...you…
Hifumi walked back with some meat and pointed at Nagito, “I see you have made your way out of the steam room.”
Nagito smiled, “Yeah, I was waiting for Yasuhiro and Kazuichi who said they’d join me.”
The two other boys looked sheepishly at each other.
“But I’m sure you two decided you’d rather spend time with someone who wasn’t a worthless lucky student.”
Makoto felt Sakura’s hand on his shoulder and looked up to her to see her give him a smile.
“Wait a minute,” Tenko yelped pointing at Hifumi and his half eaten sandwich, “Is that chicken?! Where did you get that?!”
…
Monokuma stood outside Hifumi’s door with Makoto and Nagito.
“I still don’t know why you took Hina’s card, she drew that two of clubs,” Makoto remarked to Nagito, “You finally didn’t have to do this.”
Monokuma ignored the boy and started to monologue, “There are so many things one doesn’t think of...why would one have to even in the first place. Shouldn’t talented prodigies in their respective fields have the bare minimum of competency in basic self-care.”
Makoto gave the bear a look of skepticism, “Again, jeez, at this point I think I’m just kind of disappointed.”
No answer.
Nagito put his hand to his chin, “If we’ve only lost a couple weeks of memories then we don’t have to be careful about diet, but if we’ve lost a substantial amount of time any health concerns or poor eating would catch up to us quickly.”
Makoto looked at the other boy, “Kazuichi said something about being taller.”
Monokuma groaned, “I...I assumed you ultimates...I…”
“Would have basic abilities of competency?” Makoto helpfully supplied.
The bear hung his head, “So many talented individuals, all pitted against each other and this, such despair.”
Nagito’s ears perked up as he narrowed his eyes, “I’m starting to wonder if you’re even an ultimate,” he said pointing at Monokuma.
The bear looked back at him for a few seconds and disappeared.
…
“So he just left?” Mahiru asked.
“Yeah, he...kind of went off and sulked.” Makoto responded.
Tenko harrumphed, “Like that degenerate deserves any sympathy,” she looked at the camera, “Why don’t you just let us go!”
Kazuichi nervously fiddled with his hands, “Ummm...maybe we shouldn’t pester him.”
Ibuki adopted a goofy grin, “Is Kazuichi saying that we shouldn’t ‘poke the bear?!’ ”
The class let out a collective groan.
“Attention everyone,” The screen flashed to a generic Monokuma message, “please make your way to the gym.”
The group looked at each other.
“Y-you think it’s another motive?” Hina asked nervously.
Celeste stifled a yawn, “I wonder if it will be any more effective than the last one.”
…
Makoto Naegi wet his bed until the 5th grade
This...this is awful...I don’t want anyone to know this!
Yasuhiro looked at Monokuma with a mixture of shock and horror, “So y-you’re just going to read all of our secrets?”
Monokuma grinned at the boy, “Thhhhhaaaattttt’s right!” The bear lets out an effeminate squeal, “Now this is what I’m talking about! Horror, angst, DESPAIR!”
Kazuichi scratched his chin, “Oh man,” he sighed, “I wish Kaito was around, he’d be helpful during a time like this.”
Celeste sized up the bear, “That is true, are you planning to read the deceased secrets too?”
Monokuma grumbled, “Don’t remind me about them…”
Nagito put his hand to his head, “I agree, all the work you must have put in to get these only for all of them to die in such pointless ways-” the boy shivered, “It leaves one with a terrible taste in their mouth.”
“Nagito I don’t think-” Mahiru stammered.
The flufster continued, “I am impressed Monokuma, that you are able to persevere with a motive like this when it would have been so much better earlier.”
The bear stood silently for several seconds.
Ibuki nudged Tenko, “Do you ever wonder if the teddy bear is broken?”
“I AM NOT A TEDDY BEAR!” Monokuma growled. He walked over grabbing the papers from each student before tearing them up, “Thanks to captain goddamn hope over there I’m no longer in the mood to be reminded of this.” The bear growls, “Go kill a couple hours and there will be a new motive, now AM-SCRAY!”
Yasuhiro held out a hand confused, “Uh...what does that mean?”
...
Makoto wasn’t sure what to do, he wasn’t much of a swimmer and he didn’t want to work out, Tenko, Sakura and Hina were there and he didn’t trust Tenko to assume he wasn’t perving on them.
He walked somewhat aimlessly around the main floor only to-
*Umph!*
“Ow…”
He rubbed his knee, he had tripped.
“Hey, what’s that by my feet?”
He examined the coin Monocoin. The pain in his knee had subsided and he was bored. One could only look at the different classrooms so many times before one got bored.
“Maybe I can find something cool with this.”
…
“Hey Makoto!” Ibuki cheered from inside the shop, “You found Ibuki! She thought you’d never find her!”
Makoto gave the girl a confused look, “We’re we playing...” he paused and shook his head, “Nevermind, what are you doing?”
Ibuki held out her hands with glee, “Ibuki has found so many coins and she has already gotten...” she held up her items, “Roller slippers...the emperor’s thong…”
Makoto briefly looked away, clearing his mind of anything he would regret thinking about later.
“And glasses! Ibuki’s favorite.”
“Ibuki...uh...you need glasses?”
“Nope!” The girl beamed, “But that won’t stop Ibuki from trying!”
I...I’m surprised she and Hiro don’t talk more…
Ibuki turned to the vending machine on the wall, “And now…” she twirled a coin with a flourish, “Is a new prize for Ibuki!”
The two watched as the vending machine started pushing a big bulky item. Makoto looked over and saw Ibuki’s eyes open like saucers.
*Thonk*
Did...did it get stuck?
“Awww!” Ibuki groaned, she grabbed another coin, “Ibuki has another idea!”
Makoto looked helplessly on, this wasn’t going to end well.
…
“Come on you stupid machine!” Ibuki yelled as she shook the vending machine, “Ibuki,” *Shake*, “Has only lost” *Shake* “Once to a vending machine!”
“WHAT ARE YOU DOING!”
The two jumped as Monokuma rushed over.
“I forbid you from shaking that machine!”
Ibuki frowned as she leaned away from the machine.
Monokuma wiped his brow, “Phew, no one is allowed to be in danger until the next motive is ready.” The bear grinned, “It’s going to be a good one.”
Ibuki pouted at the bear, “That’s what you promised the last two times too.”
Makoto reached towards Ibuki. What was she thinking saying that?
The bear growled and disappeared.
Ibuki smiled and flashed Makoto a peace sign, “That bear is so sensitive.” A mischievous grin formed on her face, “And with Monokuma gone…”
“I-I don’t think that’s a good idea,” Makoto stammered.
“Ibuki will be fine, now shoo-” Ibuki said, pushing Makoto towards the door.
Makoto sighed, considering his luck, maybe Ibuki would be able to get the four things in the machine unstuck. He walked out to the main area.
“I-I don’t need y-you to do everything for me!” A voice whined.
Only Kazuichi has that annoying unique of a voice.
“Kazuichi! You still haven’t washed your jumpsuit after you fell into the pool!”
Only Mahiru has that stern voice.
“S-s-so?!”
Makoto walked around the corner towards the two of them, “Hey you two what are-”
*CRASH*
The three paused before Makoto covered his eyes.
He looked at the other two with a regretful expression, “C-Can you guys follow me?”
…
“Ibuki’s only regret,” the musician murmured, “Was that she lost to another vending machine.”
Kazuichi scratched his chin, “I mean, it looks pretty terrible, I’d say it’s more of a draw.”
Mahiru smacked the side of his head, “What is wrong with you?!”
“Ow, what was that for?!” he yelled.
…
“Awwww, I liked her,” Hina groused.
“At this rate, inaction seems to be the only thing saving us.” Sakura noted.
“That or avoiding foolish situations,” Celeste remarked, putting her tea cup down.
“Hey,” Yasuhiro looked around, “Aren’t we missing someone?”
Hina rolled her eyes, “Does anyone miss Nagito?”
Sakura looked around with urgency, “Where’s Tenko?”
…
Monokuma stood next to the pool walking back and forth.
“Monokuma?” Makoto asked.
Monokuma raised his paws, “I saw it when you told Tenko it seemed like a bad idea to train near the pool, but did she listen?” The bear raised a paw pointing, “NOOOOOOOOO! So what happens when I appear to remind Tenko of THE DANGER OF STANDING NEXT TO A POOL WHEN YOU CAN’T SWIM!? Of course she jumps backwards, why wouldn’t she?Did Angie listen when you told her having her ritual was a bad idea? Did Hifumi listen when you told him to eat better? YOU ALL ARE SOOOOOOOO DUMB!!!!!” The bear slammed his fists on the ground.
Celeste put her hand over her mouth, “It is a shame we don’t have a better handler for our idiocy.”
The bear walked up to her a couple feet away shaking, “I’M SORRY THAT I ASSUMED ULTIMATES HAD ANY SEMBLANCE OF SELF-PRESERVATION!!!!”
Kazuichi glanced down at the pool and sighed before turning to the bear, “Why didn’t you get her out?”
“YOU THINK I DIDN’T TRY, YOU-YOU STINKY FASHION NIGHTMARE!”
Kazuichi recoiled, “Hey-”
“POOL STICKS ARE NOT BEAR FRIENDLY” The bear pointed at the mechanic, “YOU COULD HAVE DESIGNED A POOL STICK I COULD USE!” The bear threw up his hands before sitting down and looking away from them all with a downcast look and sad voice, “IT’S LIKE NONE OF YOU EVEN CARE ABOUT HOW I FEEL.”
Nagito spat, “Can you stop wasting our time?”
The bear turned around and stood up staring down the boy for an uncomfortable amount of time.
Yasuhiro scratched his chin, “So...erm...now what?”
The bear paused looking all the ultimates over, “Come to the gym in fifteen minutes for your motive.”
The bear then disappeared.
…
OH MY GOD….
Makoto must have been dreaming. Sooooo many weapons.
Monokuma had littered countless weapons on the floor. Knives, swords, slingshots, and had set up multiple tents in the gym each of which was big enough to have about six adults stand comfortably.
I’M NOT TOUCHING ANYTHING….
“Welcome ladies and gentleman!” Monokuma announced having somehow found a Monokuma-sized cane and tophat.
If he was able to make those, why didn’t he do the pool thing?....I’m not going to ask him that.
The class warily looked at each other before Nagito walked ahead of everyone else into a tent.
“I…” Mahiru gulped, “Guess we’ll have to check all of this out.”
…
“It’s simple, just pick up a weapon and kill someone!” Monokuma shouted.
“What about the whole, ‘getting discovered’ piece,” Kazuichi inquired.
The bear looked at the mechanic for a couple seconds, “Man, it’s no wonder you have such a hard time with the ladies.”
“Hey!”
Yasuhiro burst out laughing with the mechanic turning on him angrily.
“Hey!”
Makoto saw Nagito make his way out of one tent and into another.
I...should probably check on him…
He broke off from the other two boys and made his way into…
“This looks like it’s the wild west,” Makoto gasped.
Nagito held up a revolver, opening the chamber and looking at it.
Makoto blanched, “H-hey you don’t need to pick that up.”
Nagito noticed the bullets to the side and put one in, he paused and then added four more before aiming at Makoto.
“Wh-what the hell are you doing?!” Makoto asked.
Nagito sighed, “Monokuma where are you?”
The bear did his appearing act, “Is it the witching hour, will a murder finally happen?”
Nagito eyed the bear, “I just wanted to see if you were around.”
He turned the gun to his own head.
Makoto relaxed and tensed within a split-second of each other.
“WH-WHAT ARE Y-YOU DOING?!” The bear screeched.
“Just as I suspected,” Nagito mused, “You’re so desperate that you’ve lost any hope that compelled you to start this game.”
The bear stared at Nagito, “Pl-please just put the gun down...shoot Yasuhiro or something, he’s annoying.”
Nagito glanced over at the gun continuing to point at his temple, “Did you know there are five bullets in this and the chamber holds six. Maybe we should test my luck.”
PLEASE DON’T
“Nagito-” Makoto started.
“DON’T PULL THAT TRIGGER!” Monokuma shouted.
Nagito smiled at the bear, “Don’t worry, worthless as I am, I still am the ultimate lucky student, I’m sure-”
He pulled the trigger.
*BLAM*
Nagito’s body fell to the ground, gun with him.
I’M GOING TO NEED SO MUCH FUCKING THERAPY WHEN I GET OUT OF HERE…
Yasuhiro and Kazuichi ran over.
“Wh-what happened?” Kazuichi squeaked.
Yasuhiro looked at Nagito with shock, “D-did he kill himself?”
Makoto nodded, “Russian Roulette,” he choked out.
Yasuhiro whistled and bent over to pick up the gun, “Man, he was crazy.”
Monokuma who until that point essentially had been frozen turned to the fortune teller, “WHAT ARE YOU DOING, GUNS ARE DANGEROUS!”
Yasuhiro twirled the gun, giving the bear an incredulous look, “Everyone knows you play Russian Roulette with one bullet.” The gun twirled aiming at him, “I’m sure it’s-”
*BLAM*
Makoto slowly turned to Kazuichi, both boys staring at each other for what felt like eons, until.
“THAT’S IT!!! I FUCKING QUIT!!!” Monokuma screamed.
“What happened,” came Sakura’s voice.
The boys turned to see the remaining girls all outside the tent.
Monokuma turned and looked at the six of them, “GET OUT!!! GET OUT! GET OUT! GET OUT!” The bear turned to the gun and started smashing it on the ground.
“I-I think that’s our cue to leave,” Hina noted as the six of them bustled out of the gym.
…
There they were, looking at the gate that separated them from the outside world.
Okay...it’s time…
The six walked forward and the gate opened looking them…
OH MY GOD!
The six stood silent in shock.
Broken cars, buildings, people in the distance and…
Some blond girl lying on the ground, looking like she had fallen a great distance recently?
Wh...what the hell?
“Hey guys,” Hina started, “Why is it so dark outside?”
It was a sunny day at around noon.
Makoto sighed, “Hina...I think you might have gotten diabetes.”
*MEANWHILE*
"Huff," she lifted again finally just enough and-
*Crash*
She turned her neck, "Oooohhh Ibuki is going to be sore for a while."
She was hurt, but was able to stand up and limp through the door grabbing her prizes on her way.
"Where is everyone? Why didn't Sakura just lift up the machine for Ibuki? Why didn't any of them bother to confirm I was dead and not just unconscious." the musician's cheering expression drooped, "Ibuki thinks it might be time to teach her 'friends' a lesson."
