As The Light Fades

Summary:

"There's a muffled sound, a voice, but you couldn't decipher what they were saying, but you're not able to concentrate enough as tears began to fall down your cheeks. You see light leaking through the factory ceiling, illuminating the dust floating around, and you feel yourself starting to float, you wanted to be like the dust, you're feeling light as a feather".

Notes:

Well damn... This is not something I would've thought I'd write, but whelp, I gave it a shot!

Work Text:

The anger in his eyes is the last thing you see when you're shoved backwards, pieces of metal hit your body with so much force. You hit the railing and flip over with ease, and you knew you were going to fall to your death.

+++++++++++++

In a way, you knew he had a right to be this angry with you, after all, you went to talk to Donna Beneviento about him behind his back, but you didn't think that she would say anything that would dent his character.
Donna was a lovely woman, and even though she hid behind the dark veil and used Angie as her voice, she was quite confident. Nothing she said was terrible and you were glad, because all you wanted to know was more about him, something he wouldn't share... So yes, he had a right to be angry at you because you hadn't respected him.

The fear rushed through your body when you told him about the information that you were told by Donna and you watched as his gentle demeanour changed, 'how dare you?' You were able to hear him just enough before he screams at you, 'how fucking dare you!' He shoved the table to the side, his hat falling to the ground with no care at all. Heisenberg storms towards you and the look that he's giving you was terrifying and you knew that you overstepped the line now.

'I - I'm sorry, I just wanted -'.

'You just wanted what? To know more? You asked me if I would like to share with you and I told you no!'

He brought his hand up, ready to grab you by the neck, but you could see that he had just stopped himself from doing so. He has never physically hurt you, and you weren't so sure if it was really his thing, but you had never really pushed him this far before, which was why you were almost shitting yourself.

'I trusted you to respect me and when I turn away, you do this!?'

You flinch as he swipes his hand across, metal surges around him, forcing you to take a few steps back to avoid being hit, 'Karl, I'm sorry -', but he shakes his head, 'sorry!? You're not sorry!' He stalks towards you yet again and you began to back away onto the platform.

'Of course I'm sorry, Karl! I didn't mean to hurt you!'

'Bullshit!'

He snarled at you, his hair whipping around from the sheer forces of the metal around him, 'I should have known never to trust you!' Those words hurt you deeply and you're angry, but not at him, but at yourself for not thinking before you did what you did. You agree that this was the way you would react if your other half had accessed information behind your back when they were told no, and you sure as hell didn't like that feeling.

You meet his eyes, his beautiful eyes, crystal grey, now glowing with rage and you know you might not be able to control him. You weren't powerful, as you were but a human, 'Karl please!' Control yourself before -'.

'SHUT THE FUCK UP!'

+++++++++++

So here you are, being thrown backwards out of the room and into the railing, the pain is sharp and in seconds you can't feel your legs. You try to grip the railing before you fall, but you're a beat too late and you flip straight over. The wind was cold as it kissed your skin. You couldn't land properly, and you knew too well that you had broken your spine.

The spike burst out from your chest and you don't have the time to scream out. You're numb, everything's numb for a few moments until the pain slowly creeps in and the sudden realization that you were dying kicks in.
There's a muffled sound, a voice, but you couldn't decipher what they were saying, but you're not able to concentrate enough as tears began to fall down your cheeks. You see light leaking through the factory ceiling, illuminating the dust floating around, and you feel yourself starting to float, you wanted to be like the dust, you're feeling light as a feather.

Suddenly you feel warm hands cup your face and you're sort of pulled back to reality as you see Karl staring down at you in complete shock and fear. His mouth his moving, and his voice it still muffled, but slowly slowly whatever he was saying was beginning to sound clearer over time until you realize he's saying your name, over and over again. His touch is gentle like always.

'(Y/N), keep your eyes open for me!'

You do, you try your best to listen to him, but you're so sleepy, it's too hard.

'Please, don't go, just let me try and heal you! Everything will be okay, I'm so sorry!'

You can see that he's struggling and you also know that he knows that he can't do anything... It's too late, because how was he going to be able to nurse you back to health after you've been skewered by a goddamn piece of metal? Also, how the fuck is your body going to heal?

You try to say his name, but it hurts, it hurts too much to speak and your vision is fading, but the lights are almost too much for you. Again, you feel light and you're enjoying it. Karl's voice is starting to fade even though you realize he's screaming at you, his hands have returned to cup your cheeks.
Suddenly you're heaved straight off the spike, but you don't feel a thing because your numb now. He cradles you in his arms with so much care that you want to cry. He didn't mean it, he didn't mean to throw you over the railing like that, he just lost control and you were in the wrong place at the wrong time.

'(Y/N), don't leave me! Please don't leave me! I'm so so sorry, please don't go! I don't want to be alone again!'

He leans a little closer to press his forehead against yours, and you feel his hot tears hit your cheek, mixing with your own. The light is blinding now, and you don't think you can hold back anymore, 'I love you', you hear him say and you look into his crystal grey eyes, you want to say it, that you loved him, and you tried, but nothing comes out. In his eyes, you can tell that he knows that you love him too.
The light seeps through and curls around your body, maybe Karl can see it, you don't know, but all you know is that you're being lifted out of his arms and pulled upwards. You have to close your eyes as it's getting too bright... You never open them again.

++++++++++++++

Heisenberg holds you in his arms, and he's stopped calling your name, because there was no point. You weren't going to answer him... Not now... Not ever. He looks up at the ceiling of the factory, seeing the rays of light seeping through, such beauty. He hugs you tightly against his chest, knowing that you won't yelp in pain.
His one chance of feeling alive was gone... For good.
He cries out in pain, and doesn't care how loud he is as the sound reverberates throughout the factory as the light fades.
