Chapter Text
Joker wore a purple jacket that glittered in the streetlights as he hung onto the wheel and spun the car--a Bugatti La Voiture Noire--around the corner, the tires squealing in protest. Wearing her jester’s suit, minus her headpiece, Harley leaned out the side window and fired off several shots at the Batmobile, watching all of them simply ricochet off the car's hood. The irritation she felt at seeing her bullets have no effect made her want to throw a bomb, except they had run out of bombs and grenades a couple of miles back, and still Batsy was on their tail. With her golden blonde hair blowing loose around her head, Harley fired off a few more shots laughing almost hysterically. “Catch us if you can, Batsy!!”
Laughing as they took another corner, the car dragged along the sidewalk and took out a fire hydrant. Almost losing control of the vehicle, Joker reached over and patted Harley on the ass.
“That’s my girl!” he said cheerfully.
Ducking back into the car, Harley hissed. “I hit him, but that stupid car of his is so protected I can’t make a dent!”
“Don’t worry pumpkin pie, we’ll lose him.” Joker grinned wickedly as he spun the car around another corner, the wheels squealing in protest. He knew just where to go to make the Batman think twice about pursuing them--downtown Gotham.
It was still early in the evening and downtown would be busy, especially along the nightclub and bar strip. Industrial Street in the Bowery district was known for the bars and clubs that lined both sides of the street, but Joker knew the area would be teeming with even more people tonight because there was a bar crawl event going on in that district. He remembered seeing some advertisement about it because he and Harley had thought about committing some crime or other down there, but had decided against it when they both realized they hated dealing with drunk or high people. You could wave a gun in front of their faces and half the time the drunks would only laugh, if they reacted at all. It wasn’t really that much fun when your victims were too wasted to be scared.
Laughing, Harley clapped her hands when she realized where Joker was taking them. Batman would be wetting himself trying not to hit any innocent civilians! Taking yet another turn at high speed and drifting around a surprised Prius driver, Joker reached over and grabbed Harley by the back of her hair, yanking her close to him. His blue eyes sparkle, his lips pulled back in a sexy smile, a deep erotic red that made heat rush through her. She loved him with every ounce of her being.
Harley giggled as he grinned at her just before he kissed her. It was a long, deep kiss that had Harley wrapping her hands around the lapels of his jacket to pull him closer. Her tongue caressed his and for a moment the car, the chase, the sounds of sirens, all of it fell away. She was only aware of the taste of Joker’s tongue and the press of his lips against hers and the way he excited her. There was nothing in Gotham City, nothing in the world beyond, that she wanted more than her Joker and she knew without a shred of doubt that her puddin felt the same way about her.
*
“Do you see them?” Amanda Waller held her hand up to her ear piece, glaring at the video screens in front of her as she leaned over the young man who was monitoring them. He was tense enough having Waller this close that he could feel the muscles of his neck becoming stiff and his shoulders hunching. After tonight he was going to need to see a chiropractor, especially if she didn’t move away soon. It felt like having a monster breathing over his shoulder.
He glanced up, saw she was practically on top of him as she glared at the screens. He should have taken that job at Wayne Enterprises he thought to himself, and wondered if he still could...
Waller ground her teeth together. The screens covered several of Gotham’s main streets where her people had hacked into the traffic cameras, flipping back and forth from different viewpoints, between several traffic cams (as well as any other nearby security cameras they had hacked). She had seen the clowns zip by one screen with Batman in pursuit, followed by several police cars. The chase appeared on another screen. Waller counted five police cars in pursuit behind the Batman. A few more police cars joined the chase, adding at least another three, and as the clowns made it into the Bowery area, she counted another two joining those. It was like a goddamn convoy!
Waller could see exactly where they were going too; toward Industrial Street and the annual Gotham Bar Crawl. There would be hundreds of people--at least--down there wandering the streets, and even though it was early, more than half those people would already be drunk. That street was always crawling with people at the best of times, but with the bar crawl event that number would be doubled, maybe even tripled. And that meant hundreds of phones and hundreds of phone cameras. Which also meant any opportunities they might have had to complete their mission would vanish.
There was no way they were going to get a hold of either clown without drawing unwanted attention from the public.
“Pull back,” Waller growled, pulling out her earpiece and slammed down on the console making the young man in front of her jump a foot as the earpiece shattered like a tiny plastic grenade.
*
Joker spun the wheel as they raced along the busy street. There were people everywhere, the street packed with mobs of people moving in and out of bars or hanging out on the sidewalk and some on the street.
Joker laughed merrily as he swerve the car to the left and clipped a young man with purple hair, sending him flying into this friends. The only downside was that Joker had slowed down too much and the twerp had survived if his friends picking him up and the purple haired young man yelling at them as they continued onward was any indication.
“It’s like playing pinball!” Joker chuckled.
Harley laughed with him. “Well, don’t slow down puddin!! You have to hit them hard if you’re gonna get any points!”
Joker hit the gas again and the sports car leapt forward to plow through a group of people. Several of them rolled across the hood of the car, sending other people screaming and throwing themselves out of the way.
Harley stomped her feet as she laughed and squealed. “Oh puddin, puddin!! Get the one with the pink hair!! That’s ten points!!”
Joker spun the wheel, but their car missed the young woman by a hair's width.
“Ah poo!! She got out of the way!!” Joker laughed merrily.
Looking over her shoulder, Harley could see Batman, who was losing ground while he tried to avoid hitting the people who were now swarming the street behind them to take pictures.
“We’re losing him, puddin!”
Joker grinned wide. “Now, we just need to ditch this car.”
Spinning the wheel hard and applying the brakes, Joker turned into a covered garage, busted through the simple wooden barrier and into the garage. They continued to drive quickly up the levels, the tires squealing as Joker took one turn, then another, but when they hit the fifth floor and they’d not seen Batman or the police, Joker quickly parked the stolen car between a van and an SUV.
They both exited the car and hurried to the garage elevator.
Once inside, Harley flopped against the back of the elevator while she laughed, holding her hands over her stomach. “Oh puddin!! That was so much fun!!”
Joker leaned back next to her with a big smile after he had hit the button for the bottom floor. One thick green curl had fallen against his pale forehead making him look more roguish than he usually did.
“Told you it would be fun.” He grinned at her and bumped her with his elbow. “I’m always a fun date.”
“That you are puddin.” Harley giggled again before she stepped toward the buttons and stopped the elevator, turning around to give him a look that promised to eat him whole.
Joker licked his lips slowly, his eyes raking over her as Harley walked the few steps toward him, her hips swinging in that enticing way that made his cock throb. Once she was close to him, Harley slowly slid her hands up his chest before grabbing his tie and working it loose. He reached out and laid his hands against her hips, guiding her closer to him.
“You know I love you pumpkin?” Joker said softly, his hands gliding up to her waist, then slowly down again. His hands edged around to grasp her ass to pull her close and press her against his hardening erection. She rubbed against him, making Joker hiss with pleasure, his fingers pressing into her firm ass. He wanted nothing more then to rip her clothing off and fuck her against the wall of the elevator.
“I love you too, puddin,” Harley whispered, her voice thick with lust and love as she pulled his tie free and opened the first six buttons of his dress shirt in quick succession. She slipped her fingers under his shirt as she kissed him.
He grabbed her and wrapped his arms tight around her, creating a cage of his arms as his mouth moved over her lips.
Harley’s hands went to his hair, grabbing his green hair and pulling his head back a little while she kissed him hungrily, her tongue caressing his tongue as she rubbed against him.
Moving slowly from her lips to her throat, Joker’s hands glided further up to cup the sides of her breasts while he lightly nibbled at her throat and whispered in a low growl. “I want you.”
Closing her eyes and baring her throat for him, Harley moaned. “Oh puddin...I want you too.”
His thumbs stroked over her nipples, causing Harley to make a breathy moan while he sucked on the soft skin at her throat. She felt the flood of wetness between her legs, her desire for him climbing with each passing breath. He reached up, found the zipper to her costume, and slowly pulled it down, making Harley feel a shiver as the elevator's cool air brushed the bare skin of her back.
Smiling, she reached down and quickly began to unbuckle his belt...
*
“Ah...Mrs. Waller, sir...”
One of the young techs in the room turned in his seat. He was still monitoring the traffic and security cameras when he noticed something.
Waller snarled as she spun around. The large woman--a lot of which was muscle, some of the techs knew--was not in the mood to deal with anyone at the moment. “What is it?”
The young man cringed at her tone, but he continued. “Well, I caught the clowns on camera heading into a parking garage, but I’ve been monitoring the cameras on the street around the garage and they haven’t left yet.”
“They haven’t?” she asked as she approached the tech.
The young man nodded. “Yeah, ah...the garage itself doesn’t have cameras, but there are several outside of it and I haven't seen them leave yet. And no other cars have left yet either.”
Waller smiled and patted him on the shoulder. “Good work, keep an eye out. If you see either of them or a vehicle leave that garage, you let me know--got it?”
“Yes sir.” The young man nodded as Waller smiled.
*
Groaning softly, Joker smiled as Harley ran her hands over his bare chest. She had unbuttoned his shirt entirely, though his tie still hung around his neck, pulled down and loose. He had dropped his sparkling purple jacket to the floor of the elevator.
Harley pulled the gloves off of her hands, dropped them on top of his jacket and ran her bare hands over his bare stomach and over his chest, sending tremors through his body. Spreading her fingers, Harley caressed his stomach and chest again, her peaches and cream skin standing out against the ghost white paleness of his skin.
She captured Joker’s mouth in a deep kiss, his hands going around her again, his fingers tickling up along her spine. Joker slowly peeled Harley’s costume open. She shivered as his gloved fingers snaked along her spine, caressing her bare skin to send goosebumps dancing across her. When he reached up and grasped the shoulders of her outfit and pulled the cloth down her shoulders, Harley shivered.
She reached down and grabbed the belt of his slacks. Working quickly, she finished unbuckling and unfastened his slacks, pulling the zipper down before grabbing both the sides of his boxers and the sides of his slacks, yanking them both down at the same time.
“Harley.” Joker groaned, his lips moving from her mouth to the side of her neck, his teeth pressing against her pulse as she wrapped a hand around his member, sliding her hand along the hard length of him. She loved the contrast of hard and soft under her touch. T,he hardness of his erection made her groin pulse and the softness of his skin and the feel of the head of his erection made her ache a little more. Joker’s groan of pleasure at her touch made her shudder. There was no sound she liked better than his moan, except maybe his laugh.
“Puddin,” she whispered, letting go of him and taking a step back so that she could pull her arms free of her costume.
Licking his lips in anticipation, Joker watched her, his blue eyes bright in the elevator’s dull overhead light. She pulled the costume down to expose the round softness of her breasts, making his swollen shaft throb at the sight of her naked breasts and hard, pink nipples. He found it delightfully erotic always knowing Harley was naked under her costume. He enjoyed watching her move in the red and black body suit, but the moments like this, when she stripped out of it, made him feel weak in the knees.
Smiling at him, her light blue eyes filled with lust and an animal-like energy, Harley dropped her outfit to her hips, and with an enticing wiggling of her hips, it dropped down to her knees, exposing herself fully to him.
Harley’s naked body was a perfect combination of strength and softness, he thought as his gaze traveled over her creamy skin. He grinned with amusement at the fact that she had shaved her pubic hair into the shape of a heart, a little surprise he hadn’t expected. His eyes moved up, following the soft roundness of her hips and the fullness of her breasts, the nipples a dark rosy pink that made his mouth water. Harley grabbed her breasts and squeezed them together, running her tongue along her bottom lip; her eyes had a mischievous glow to them.
“Want me puddin?” she asked with a sweet smile, her eyes hooded seductively as she gazed through her thick lashes at him and squeezed her breasts.
Joker chuckled and reached for her. “You are a naughty girl Harley, one of my favorite things about you.” He smiled, his eyes twinkling. “Along with your sexy little booty, fantastic smile, and how good you are with a gun.”
“Mmm...you going to punish me?” she asked as he ran his gloved hands over her hips, licking her upper lip.
Instead of answering her, he dipped his head down, yanking her closer still, and flicked his warm tongue against her nipple. The sensation made Harley gasp with pleasure.
Smiling, Joker turned her around, biting his bottom lip at the sight of her perfect peach of a derriere before placing a hand on her back and gently bent her over, his body humming with need of her as his hands caressed her backside.
Harley arched her back and lifted her hips, pressing her hands against the doors of the elevator while Joker grabbed her hips and pulled her closer. A heartbeat later, he grabbed his erection, sliding himself between her ass cheeks, then slowly guided himself down further against her wet opening. Together they moaned, especially as Joker began to gently slide himself into her, taking his time to feel each inch of his cock entering her body. Harley bit down on her bottom lip, her hips arching. The feel of her puddin pushing into her, filling her, sent shivers over her skin. It felt so good to have him inside her. When he eased deeper into her, Harley cried out, her fingers pressing into the elevator doors, which squealed against the smooth metal when she struggled for purchase.
Holding her hips, Joker arched his back, his expression one of pure, wild pleasure. Grasping both her hips, his fingers pressing into her soft skin, Joker began to thrust hard and fast.
Gasping and giggling with pleasure, Harley locked her knees as her puddin thrust into her with abandon, almost threatening to knock her over. She loved the feel of him thrusting deeper and deeper into her, his pelvis slapping against her ass. The feeling of being completely filled by him, completely used by her lover had her crying out loudly as bursts of pleasure exploded through her entire body, followed swiftly by a knee weakening orgasm. She experienced more little orgasms that felt as her body was having its own firework show. He always made her feel good, her puddin always made her feel desired, loved, and utterly, completely fucked in the best way possible.
When Harley cried out, Joker shuddered, his balls tightening, but it was the moment he felt that warm flood of her slick liquid wash over him, the wet sound of their fucking mixed with their shared panting, that Joker came. The tension in his body snapped, the erotic pleasure of being with his girl, combined with feeling and hearing her orgasm had him spiraling toward the stars before falling back to earth still inside his girl, the only person in all the world that he loved more than himself.
*
When the two of them exited the elevator a couple of minutes later, both of them dressed--though their hair was in disarray--Harley felt a little drunk. Her knees were wobbly and her body was still humming with her orgasms. All she wanted to do now was get back to the hideout and snuggle with her puddin until they fell asleep in each other's arms.
Joker had his arm around her waist as they walked into the garage, his sharp blue eyes scanning for a car for them to leave in. They only had to walk past a couple of cars before Joker saw the perfect unobtrusive car for them to escape in--a white 1980 Chevrolet Citation.
“There we go Harls, the perfect, ‘Don’t Look At Us’ car!” Joker hurried over to the vehicle, his arms moving from her waist to take her hand. Still holding her hand, Joker leaned close and put his hand around his face to block some of the glare from the garage lights as he looked inside. He could see some empty beer cans in the back seat along with some empty fast food bags, a few loose miscellaneous tools, all also in the back, but the front seats looked fairly clean.
“Not too disgusting.” He grinned and let go of Harley’s hand, making her yelp when he turned and used his elbow to smash the back window before reaching in and unlocking the front door.
Pulling the door open, Joker grinned. “Go around Harls and I’ll let you in.”
Harley hurried to the other side just as Joker leaned over and popped the door open for her.
Stealing a quick kiss, Joker grinned. “Want to stop and get some tacos to take home with us?”
“Mm...Tacos sound good.” Harley leaned back in her seat, pulling her seat belt over her while Joker leaned over the back, searching about and coming back with a hammer and a screwdriver.
Humming some melody that Harley thought she knew but wasn’t sure, he began to cheerfully hot wire the car.
*
“I got ‘em!!” The young man named Daniel Chen, who had gotten Waller’s attention after Joker and Harley disappeared into the garage yelled, spinning around in his chair. “They just left the garage!”
Waller, who had been on her cellphone, abruptly ended her conversation without saying goodbye and turned her attention to the screen. “What?”
“Yeah, they are in an old Chevrolet Citation,” he said but Waller cut him off.
“Are you sure it's them?”
“Ah, yeah. I mean I wasn’t sure at first, but no other cars have left that garage since they entered and then I caught sight of the driver for a split second. There was a hint of green hair as the car turned and went past the security camera that I hacked into from the pawn shop on the corner…”
Daniel was monitoring other cameras while he spoke until Waller snapped at him, stopping him short.
“Just tell me where they are!”
Jumping in his seat Daniel quickly checked the screens and his computer. “They are heading west, right on 25th street, near the river.”
Smiling, a smile that made Daniel feel a little ill, Waller turned and grabbed the headset off one one of her men. The man winced in pain as she yanked the headset off, taking some of the man’s hair with it, and began yelling into the headset’s microphone. “Send four cars to 25th street in the Bowery area. The clowns are driving a white Chevrolet Citation.” She paused and with a snarl in her voice, she said, “I want them alive.”
*
Turning the stereo of the old car up, the tape player in the dash clicked, and Freddie Mercury’s voice filled the car’s cab. Joker grinned, reaching over to put his hand on Harley’s knees as they sang along, as loudly as they could.
“We are the champions, my friends
And we'll keep on fighting till the end!!”
Joker looked in at the rearview mirror while he sang and a frown marred his features while Harley continued singing. He’d seen a black car come around a corner and fall into line behind them.
There was something off about the car besides it having tinted windows. A few seconds later, that car was followed by another car of a similar make and color, coming from a different street, and a few seconds later, yet another. If there were more he couldn’t tell, but three was more than enough. All of them were black, announcing in every way without simply writing on the side of the vehicles, that they were the bad guys. They weren’t the GCPD, Joker knew; the cars were too nice looking and too new to belong to the police department. And while Batman had a lot of allies and money (or he was the sugar bat to some rich sugar daddy with a vigilante fetish), he wouldn’t have done something so boringly obvious as “We are the bad guys” with his cars. Batman had a lot more style than that.
“Harley.” Joker squeezed her knee, his eyes going from the road to the rearview mirror.
Smiling Harley stopped singing and looked over at him, noticed right away that something was wrong by the twitching muscle in Joker’s jaw. “Yeah puddin?”
“I think we are being followed.” He motioned with his head behind him.
Turning, Harley saw the black cars trailing behind them, the fact that they were being followed obvious to her.
“What the...Who are they?” She turned her attention back to Joker who shrugged.
“Don’t know, but I have this feeling we don’t want to know.” Smiling wide, Joker hissed. “Make sure your seatbelt is buckled tight pumpkin.” He reached up and caressed her cheek with the back of his fingers. “Don’t want my girl getting hurt.”
Checking her seat belt to make sure it was secure, Harley also quickly checked Joker’s, giving him the stink eye when she realized he hadn’t buckled his seat belt. She took a moment to lean over and pull his seatbelt across his body, securing it before she nodded. “Okay puddin.”
Joker smiled and leaned over to steal a quick kiss before he hit the gas.
*
Inside the car, Edwards took a deep breath as he hit the gas. “Fuck, I think they know we’re on their ass.”
The man named John Economos muttered, “Told you, you were being too obvious.”
“Shut the fuck up John,” Edwards growled as he reached for the radio to inform the cars behind them that they had been made.
After he put the receiver down, he grinned. “I always love a chase though, keeps me in practice.”
John checked his seat belt and grabbed a hold of the handle over his door and hissed. “Just don’t get us killed.”
*
Joker took a corner hard, the back end of the car swung a little too far, its tires squealing against the asphalt. For a moment Harley was worried he wouldn’t get the car back under control as it fishtailed, but then Joker swung the wheel again, his hands moving quickly and they were blasting down the road. She could see the slight reflection on the river ahead of them.
Turning around she saw the cars following them all take the turn too, staying close.
“Damn it, makes me wish we hadn’t switched cars,” she muttered, but Joker only smiled. “It’s not the car sweets, it's the driver behind the wheel.” He waggled his eyebrows at her.
“Yeah, but we left the guns in the other car.” Harley frowned, one hand on the dash as she looked over her shoulder again..
“Oh...shit.” Joker laughed. “Ah well. Guess I’ll just have to be creative then.”
They turned down another street that was torn up on one side, construction on one side of the road, lined with saw horses colored orange and black, along with several orange cones and warning signs of the construction in a line down the street.
They sped down the narrowed strip of street with the black cars following them close behind.
Harley turned back around, her eyes going wide as she yelled and pointed.
“PUDDIN!!”
Coming straight for them were three more black cars.
“How many of those do these guys have?” Joker complained. “There must be some bad guy car dealership that only sells black cars.” Spinning the wheel to the right just as the three cars rushed toward them, Joker slammed through several of the saw horses, sent them flying into the air and over the car as the three new black cars tried to hit their brakes. The first car skidded to the side caused the one behind it to ram into its back end. The third car managed to turn itself instead of smashing into the car in front of it…
Joker snarled as one of the saw horses flew up and into the windshield, shattering it.
Harley screamed and threw her arms up over her face. Joker shot past the three cars. The last one spun, missing the car in front of it, but Joker’s car nicked the back of the black car. Metal squealed loudly as they continued, shooting past, the back end of the other car scraping against Joker’s door, but then they passed it, the cars behind them still in pursuit.
Ahead of them, Joker saw the bridge that led over the river and into the expensive area of Gotham, where the millionaires like Bruce Wayne had mansions and large swaths of land. He pressed his foot down on the gas, leaning forward a little as the old car shot forward. At least the owner took care of his car, Joker thought with a wry grin.
*
“They’re heading to the bridge!!” John yelled.
“I can see that!” Edwards snarled, pissed that a fucking murderous clown was outdriving him--and in such a cruddy old car. “Just hold on, we’re gonna get those fucking clowns if its the last thing I do.”
Edwards hit the gas and the car jumped forward, cutting the distance between them and the clowns.
*
Harley screamed, turning around when the car chasing them slammed into their rear. She saw two men, both ugly, one bald, and the other with a crew cut. The bald one was driving, grinning at her.
“Fuckers,” Joker muttered, whipping his car into the oncoming lane. Luckily the bridge was mostly dead at this time of night. He took his foot off the gas, falling back until they were side by side with the other car.
“Harley, there are some more tools in the back,” Joker said, glancing over to see Edwards looking over at them in confusion.
Giggling, Harley unbuckled and leaned over the seat. She grabbed several things; a hammer, wrench, and a few other rusty miscellaneous tools that whoever had owned this car had thrown lazily in the back seat. She tossed them over her shoulder, grabbing the last couple and sat back down, dumping the remaining tools between her and Joker.
She grabbed up the hammer, rolled her window down, and yelled. “HEY UGLY!!”
She threw the hammer just as Joker swung the wheel to the right and slammed them against the black car.
*
Edward snarled as the car holding the clowns hit them, followed by the bitch throwing a hammer that shattered his window.
“YOU FUCKING BITCH!!” he yelled. The two cars were close enough that he could hear her crazy laughing as she threw a wrench.
The tool flew through the window, just barely missing Edwards who leaned as far back as he could, the wrench just missing him, but it struck John in the shoulder. The other man yelled out in surprised pain. “Fuck Edwards, get away from them!!”
“Fuck no,” the other man spat, narrowing his eyes and swinging the car to the left to slam into Joker’s and Harley’s car.
*
Joker snarled, holding tight to the wheel as Edwards smashed into them, forcing them against the bridge’s protective railing.
“PUDDIN!!” Harley pointed and Joker saw the headlights of a car coming toward them. He hit the gas, staying pressed against the railing, which tore into the side of their stolen car. The oncoming car forced Edwards to pull away, allowing the car to zip between them and Joker, but the clown hit the gas as the oncoming car--its horn blaring as it sped past--spun the wheel back to slam the front side of his car against Edwards’ car.
Cursing, Edwards, pulled his gun, but John grabbed his hand. “We’re supposed to take them alive! Especially Joker!”
“I don’t fucking care!” Edwards held his gun across his body, pointed out the window.
*
Harley saw the gun and screamed. “PUDDIN! GUN!!”
Edwards shot as Joker grabbed Harley by the back of her hair and shoved her forward and down, only barely missing hitting her head against the dash, though he was sure he’d scraped her head against the plastic. The bullet missed Harley and slammed into Joker’s shoulder, making him jerk in pain. Blood splattered his pale face and Harley screamed again, her hands over her ears.
*
John grabbed Edwards arm, yanking on the gun. “Waller will kill us both if you fuck this up!”
Edwards was yanking his arm back when he lost control of the wheel. The car swerved to the left, slamming hard into Joker and Harley’s car, sending them flying into the railing again.
*
Joker was struggling to control the wheel as Harley sat back up. Blood was running down her forehead from an abrasion at her hairline where she had scraped the dash. Blood was oozing from the bullet wound in Joker’s shoulder; could feel the bullet still lodged in the muscle of his shoulder. The hand of that arm wouldn’t obey him as he tried to pull them out of the spin, but then they smashed through the railing..
And suddenly the car was airbound, heading straight for the river as they angled down…
Harley screamed and Joker saw her body fly up. She hit the roof of the car...she wasn’t belted in...he tried to reach for her, his fingers unable to get a grip on her, but they hit the cold water of the Gotham river...
The force of the water hitting the broken windshield caused it to shatter, sending gallons of ice cold water into the car. There was a moment of disorientation, Joker only barely had time to grab a breath before they were sinking under the water. He saw Harley, limp, unconscious, her body floating, but he was still strapped into his seat.
For a moment he panicked, struggling with the belt and tried to grab hold of Harley at the same time when he remembered he still had his knife with him. Reaching into his jacket, Joker pulled out his switchblade just as he saw several shadowy figures hit the water on either side of the car. They surrounded the car, all of them in scuba equipment. His eyes widened in surprise; he couldn’t tell how many there were, though the car’s headlights illuminated three of them swimming to the front of the shattered windshield. They reached in and grabbing Harley’s unconscious body, pulling her through the damaged window.
Joker screamed in panic and rage as they began to pull her through the broken window, bubbles issuing from his mouth as he tried to grab for her, but the fingers of his wounded arm wouldn’t obey him. The black figures pulled her free and started to swim to the surface with Harley’s limp body between them.
Joker started to cut frantically at the seat belt, his lungs screaming for air just as several other black figures pulled his door open. He’d cut through his seat belt just as one of them reached in for him. Joker lashed out, the sharp blade slicing through the black clad figure’s suit and throat. Blood spilled into the water as the figure grabbed for his throat, swimming away. As another shadowy figure grabbed his companion and started to swim to the surface, two more reached for Joker.
Joker launched himself with his legs out of the car, slamming into one of the black clad men as hard as he could, the knife stabbing through the man’s dive suit and into a lung. As the blade tore into his opponent’s torso, Joker headbutted the man with enough force that he shattered the man’s diving mask.
Pushing himself off the man, more blood filling the water from the man’s stab wound and the blood coming from Joker’s shoulder wound along with the new lacerations on his forehead, Joker twisted away just as another two shadowy figures tried to grab him.
Joker and one of the men grappled with each other, twisting around as they struggled. The man holding him pulled out something that looked like a syringe, stabbed Joker in the thigh with it, and pushed the plunger down. He felt the cold liquid hit his blood stream, but just as quickly the cold faded. Whatever toxin they had tried to use failed, his mutated blood dispersing and killing the poison instantly. Joker grinned, the smile even more menacing in the eerie light that filtered through the water from the car’s headlights.
The second the man grabbed Joker from behind, his hand in Joker’s hair, his arm going around Joker’s throat. As the three of them struggled, bubbles filled the water. Between the bubbles, blood, and the river’s already murky water--stirred up more with the car hitting the muddy bottom--it was difficult to see what was happening.
The man in front of Joker was trying to grab Joker’s knife arm while grabbing his wounded shoulder, digging his fingers into Joker’s bullet wound. The pain made Joker’s vision turn black along the edges, but he jerked his knife arm back, bringing the man’s hand and wrist close enough that even with the man behind him trying to choke him--and while yanking his head back--Joker was able to sink his teeth into the hand of the man in front of him. The man jerked and yanked his arm back, letting go of Joker’s good arm.
The moment Joker’s hand was free, he brought the knife up and stabbed the man in front of him in the throat and up into his jaw with a twist. He could see the man’s eyes behind his scuba mask widen, his mouth opening, causing his snorkel to fall out. Twisting around, Joker kicked the man in the chest, yanking his blade out.
The moment the man holding Joker from behind saw his partner start to sink, blood spilling into the water, his grip on Joker’s throat and hair loosened, just a fraction, but it was enough for Joker to break free, twist in the water and thrust his knife into the side of the other man’s throat, yanking and twisting the knife out with a vicious twist.
The man stared at Joker in shock, his hand going to the wound, blood spilling out of it and into the water. Grinning, Joker reached out and grabbed the man’s snorkel, pulled it out of his mouth, and kicked the man away from him before turning and kicking toward the surface.
When Joker broke through the surface of the water, gasping, he looked up. He could see lights, police lights...but whoever had Harley was nowhere to be seen. For the next several minutes, in a manic state verging on frenzied, Joker searched for some sign of Harley and the people who had taken her, but except for the Gotham police converging on the bridge above, he found nothing. He stood in the shadows, hidden from view, watching the police milling about, breathing in panicked pants when he realized he’d lost her. He’d truly lost her. Harley had vanished as if she had never existed.
Every part of Joker shut down...

Waller hissed as Harley Quinn’s unconscious body was brought into the van. “Goddamn it, is she alive?”
Edwards nodded. “Yeah, John here gave her CPR.”
Waller turned and yelled at no one in particular. “Get her to the medical, then I want her ready to transfer to Belle Reve by morning. And be careful, I don’t want to lose any more men when she regains consciousness. She’s just as dangerous as her boyfriend. Just ‘cause she’s got a pretty face, don’t be fooled into thinking she won’t gut you.” Several people hurried over and took Harley Quinn’s unconscious body and disappeared.
Yelling after them Waller growled. “Call me when she's on her way.”
“Yes sir! Someone yelled as they disappeared with Harley.
Waller turned her attention back to Edwards and John. “That was fucking sloppy…”
Neither man said anything as Waller’s attention was clearly turned to someone speaking over her new earpiece. “Did you find him?” She listened then hissed. “What? How many? Four? Fuck. Where is he now?” She was silent as she listened to something being said to her over the earpiece and she cursed again. “Fuck...how did you fucking lose him?? No...no never mind...we got his girlfriend...he’ll come to us now…get everyone out of there before the GCPD finds you...clean up any way you have to, I want the bodies retrieved too...if there’s a screw up, you know who is going to take the fall...you.” She yanked the ear piece out and stared at the two men.
“Get ready to go, I want you two back at base…”
“Where are you going?” Edwards asked but Waller only glared at him. “I’m going back to my hotel room...time to get a message to the Clown Prince of Crime, let him know I have his girlfriend…”
