Chapter 1: Chapter 1

Chapter Text

Childe was annoying, he had always been that way since the day they meant. (Y/n) could recall the times in grade school when they would play together at events her father held. He would pester her for attention the moment she gave anyone else a tiny bit of it. In high school, he was constantly flirting with her to show off to his friends, or he teased her for things she was insecure about. He went from clingy to an asshole those years he was gone. But even before then she never really enjoyed his company. No matter how much she wanted to tell him to fuck off she had to keep a good friendship with him. The one time in high school when she told him to get lost, her father lectured her later that day. Their parents had a good friendship and contracts, so if Childe raised a fit she would get in trouble for it. So she dealt with him.

When the girl left for college she thought she would never see him again. She had 3 whole years of peace away from him. Of course, he would text her to see how she was doing but after a few exchanges of words, the conversation ended. So when her father gave her the internship/assistant job at Liyues top law and attorney company she should have known better. For the last three months, she had been working for founder Zhongli, and he was extremely kind and easy to work for. Her father had been close friends with him as well for the last five years so it made sense he would let her work there for a bit. What she didn’t know was that Childe was also the Ceo of the company, last she heard it was Ningguang.

So when she walked in that morning to see Childe sitting on the edge of Zhongli’s desk, a smirk placed on his face, dread took over. The usual nickname fell from his lips as he greeted her. “Heya girly!” Her facial expression turned to an irritated one, but seeing how Zhongli was in front of her she quickly wiped it off her face. “Good morning Tartaglia, Mr. Zhongli.” Childe let out a loud laugh as he watched her. (Y/n) was not happy at this, she would give her father an earful later. As everyone in her family knew she was not fond of the ginger. Yet no matter what she told her father he told her to suck it up.

“Have you brought the papers I asked for last night?” Zhongli’s voice shook her out of her thoughts, and with a small smile, she nodded her head. “Of course sir, here they are.” She moved towards his desk and handed him the paper. Childe seemed to be getting a small kick of her having to act professional around him. His smirk didn’t leave his face for not even a second. “She is your intern? You never told me it was my favorite person.” The ginger looked to his partner.

“Hm? Oh, it must have slipped my mind, I thought you two would get along just fine, seeing as her father said you two were friends in high school.” (Y/n) had to hold back a dry laugh as she stood there, keeping her usual smile on her face. They were not friends, he was her worst nightmare. Constantly embarrassing her whenever he got the chance. Teasing her about her body, even if she was happy with it he seemed to make her dislike herself every day. “I guess you’re right, well I’ll be seeing you around more often! How exciting it’s been a few years.”

“Yes, it’ll be great.” Her eye twitched for a minute as she stared at him. “Are we still having lunch today?” Zhongli sat the papers down and stared at the (h/c)-haired female in front of him.

“Mhm! At Xianglings correct? I made sure to book the table a week ago.”

“Childe will be joining us if you don’t mind.”

(Y/n) did her best to hold back a sigh and nodded her head. She would just have to agree and get used to it all over again. Maybe she could find a different job somewhere else? Her father would be peed at her for doing such a thing but she couldn’t stand Childe. If she had to work with him for longer than a few months she would go crazy. “It’s a date then!”
