Chapter Text
Black Hat raised an eyebrow as Demencia limped into his office. 5.0.5 followed her slowly, staring with wide eyes at the floor. Demencia was bleeding from her head and had part of her skirt singed off. The bear on the other hand looked unharmed except for a small patch of burnt hair. “Hey Blacky we got the thingy you wanted,” she said, gesturing at the bag she was holding.
Black Hat stared at them. “Where's Flug?”
Demencia looked at the floor. “He,” she trailed off and reached into the bag to pull out a burned lab coat. “He’s gone.”
5.0.5 let out a wail and started to cry, burying his face in his paws. Black Hat straightened as his eyes widened. “What happened?” he hissed.
Demencia hugged herself as she began to speak. “Well, it was going fine. We got the device you wanted and we were going ta leave when,” she hiccuped and wiped her nose on her sleeve. “Flug said they were angels. They must'sta been after us to get to you so,” she took a deep breath, “Flug did something with one of his rays and it all lit on fire, and,” she sniffled again. “Me and Fives got out but we lost Flug. This is all we found,” she whispered, gesturing at the ruined coat.
Black Hat nodded, staring at the coat. “Get out,” he hissed.
“Boss?” Demencia whispered.
“Get your pathetic sniveling asses out of my office!” Black Hat roared, slamming his fists on the desk.
Demencia flinched back and turned around, gently patting 5.0.5 to get him to follow her. Demencia glanced back at Black Hat before shutting the door gently.
Black Hat took a deep breath before standing up, flipping his desk while he did so. He let himself go, human form melting and being replaced with thrashing tentacles, teeth, and eyes hell-bent on destroying everything in his office. He slowly reformed at his window staring at the heavens. “Bastards.” he hissed, running his claws down the glass.
Flug had been around since nearly the beginning of the business. He replaced Black Hats first scientist who tried to kill him. Flug had been thrown into the job by the unfortunate plane crash he had been piloting. He performed well nonetheless. Better than Black Hat had imagined. He was a constant thing him the eldritch life. Black Hat wasn't used to something being by his side for so long. He didn’t realize Flug had such a big presence until, no, he couldn’t accept it.
The villain fell to his knees and stared out the window. “You’ll pay for this.”
He stared at his claws, wondering how a mortal could do this to him. He didn't care about humans. He wouldn't miss him.
He-
A scream rang through the mansion and Black Hat lifted his head. He melted into the shadows and reappeared at the entrance of the mansion. He bared his teeth at Demencia. “What is,” he froze as he turned to look at what the shocked girl was looking at.
“Oh hello, Jefecito.”
