This had been sitting in my drafts for like 2 years now and I thought, why not just publish it as a little drabble that I may or may not add to every now and then depending on my mood? So yea, here it is now lmao

Work Text:

Becoming a hero was a fool’s dream if you were quirkless.

And that’s exactly what Yudai was.

A quirkless fool who wanted nothing more than to be a hero.

A fool he may be to others, but what did he care about the opinions of people he’s never even met or who don’t have any sway over his life whatsoever?

He’ll do as he pleases, do what is right regardless if the world views him as a suicidal idiot. That is his unbending conviction.

“Itterasshai!”

“Ittekimasu~”

The dark-haired lad bid his farewells to his family, smiling at the last sight of his father reading the morning newspaper while his mother fed his youngest sibling, little two-year old Ritsu whereas Shigeo who was a year older was able to feed himself, albeit with constant adult supervision. Washing dishes by the kitchen sink was his adopted older brother, Genos or more known as Demon Cyborg by the general populace.

This was Yudai’s family who supported his dreams regardless of all the naysayers and god, he loved them with all his heart.

With that, the teen stepped through the doors and made his way towards U.A. for his high school entrance exam.

“...Damn. If I knew that’s all it took I would’ve lessened the power since this is a bit overkill…” Yudai muttered to himself as he stared at his feet, ignoring or simply unaware of the small crowd of examinees that had surrounded him after he punched one of the Zero-pointers so hard that it crashed into and took down several other robots within their area.

Up at the examiner stands, the adults were simply gobsmacked as they tried to digest what their eyes had seen.

None of them had expected anything from this particular examinee considering the bold letters on his file that declared him QUIRKLESS since birth. Yet none of them could deny that this boy, in spite of his handicap ( for what would the lack of quirk be considered other than a handicap in this day and age? ) had seemingly obliterated the One-Pointer with a single punch.

ONE. PUNCH.

Even All-Might during his days as a student didn’t simply go about destroying the school’s fiercest robot with single punches so the fact that this apparently QUIRKLESS boy could do it so easily had upended their entire view on who could or couldn’t be a hero.

Yudai didn’t know the ripple of change he’d caused by simply existing in this world of quirks and heroes. He doesn’t know of the hearts he’s touched or will touch along his journey.

All he knows is that he wants to be a hero.

And not for any mundane or grand reason other than the fact that it is what his own heart and mind had set their sights on.

Quirkless or not, he will forge his own path in this unfair world that sought to undermine him and those like him.
