Chapter Text
It was another day of work. You entered the pizza place with low hopes for today, feeling the familiar but still uncomfortable blow of grease-scented air fill your face after opening the large front door. Walking to the back of the building where the employee lounge was, you set your bag down in your assigned locker, which was old and dirty, and sighed. Jeremy, your co-worker, looked at you from the mini fridge, which he was looking through in an attempt to find something else than a few sauce packets and a frozen over bottle of ketchup. His blond hair bounced slightly as he tilted his head up towards you, smiling. He noticed your tired frame and he frowned sympathetically.
"What's wrong?" he asked, sitting down at the other side of the table in front of you.
"Nothing, it just feels like this place is getting so... boring. It just feels so gross here," you whined.
"I agree, but it is kinda our job to clean it, and we don't do it regardless, so we can't really complain," he replied, shrugging. You nodded and giggled a bit. Jeremy was such a silly guy, he seemed to have not a care in the world. Just eating random things he found in the employee fridge all day and making people laugh didn't sound like such a bad life.
"OH!" Jeremy began, leaning forward. "William told me to tell you that he wants to see you in his office. He said it was important and you need to be there as soon as you get in today," he said, his tone becoming a bit more serious.
You felt your stomach drop and your face contort into a confused frown. "Uh..." you said, standing up and stretching. "Did he say why?" you asked the blond boy, who was now scrolling through his phone. He looked up at you for a second and shook his head. "Good luck though, he seemed a bit upset," he said, before looking bad at the brightly lit screen.
You smiled at him before walking out of the employee lounge, into the party room, and into the hallway. William's office was ahead of you, the last door. You felt your mouth get unnaturally dry and your palms get sweaty, walking over to the wooden door. The floor beneath you was tile, and you looked down at it before knocking. The tile was covered in a sickly grey color, presumably from all the grease and grime in the air over the years. Your shoes stuck to it slightly when you walked. Since none of the kids were ever back here it was never nasty or needed to be cleaned like the rest of the restaurant, so most of the employees just forgot to ever come back here to mop. The grout was almost black. Not to mention, the lights were all mostly off, adding to the creepy and just uncomfortable atmosphere of the entire place. The door handle slipped ever so slightly around your hand as you clenched your palm around it, knocking on the door lightly.
"Come in," the familiar deep voice answered the gentle taps. You slowly entered the door, the cool light flooding your vision. You smiled at William, who didn't reciprocate, and motioned you to sit down in the wooden chair in front of him. You did as you were told, fighting the urge to roll your eyes at his rudeness and bit your tongue, sitting in the chair. You looked up at him. He looked back down at his paperwork, ignoring you. You looked around nervously, wondering why he wasn't speaking. You watched how his thin but large hands would tenderly turn the pages of paper, skimming over the text on them and signing his signature on the lines. He shifted slightly in his seat to accommodate for his long legs. He kept this uncaring act up. You knew you had to say something, and though you didn't want to, your impatience got the best of you.
"Mr. Afton-" you began, but you were cut off by him speaking in an authoritative and stern tone, causing your breath to get caught in your throat.
"Do you know why I called you in here today?" he asked, flipping another page. You gulped, shaking your head. "No..." you trailed off anxiously.
"Mmm..." he replied. He didn't respond again, still flipping through the pages. He wouldn't even look at you.
"Mr. Afton, please, say something. I'm getting really nervous and I don't know what you're trying to do," you said honestly, trying to express how uncomfortable you were. He looked up at you. His dark eyes had bags under them, staring into you, looking deadpan and lifeless. He stood up, his thin frame getting illuminated. He towered over you in the low-seated chair, it was quite intimidating. He looked down at you.
"I'll cut straight to the point," he began. "Every time I've seen you, you haven't been working. You've been slacking off with Jeremy, and even he gets more work done than you, which is saying something. When you began, you were so diligent, but it seems like your boyfriend is making you distracted," he said, sounding disappointed in you.
You thought about what he said for a second before replying. "Mr. Afton, Jeremy isn't my boyfriend, I don't know why you would think he was. I'm sorry if I'm not being a good employee, I'll stop talking with Jeremy, if it helps," you offered, though deep down you knew you would never stop talking to him.
Afton walked over to you, looking down at you. He placed his cold index finger ever so gently beneath your chin and lifted your head up to look at him, examining your facial features. The contact was so sudden, you sharply inhaled, looking up at him.
"Such a people pleaser," he said, looking down at you. It would be a lie if you said he didn't look attractive in this light, the way his shoulders were dropped to lean down to you. The way his messy dark chestnut hair fell over his face, and the way his dominating grey eyes looked back into yours.
Not quite knowing how to respond, you opened your mouth slightly, letting a small "I guess," slip out. You felt your face get red as he leaned in to whisper into your ear. As his soft hair brushed across your neck your eyes widened. "I expect better," he said, his hot breath spreading across your skin. You let go of the breath you had been unconsciously holding as he pulled away, letting go of your face as well. You quickly thanked him and got out of there, running over to the employee lounge, to Jeremy.
"Jeremy!" you said, bursting through the door. You could feel how red your face was as he looked up at you.
"Woah, what happened in there? You look... scared... or something?" he questioned. You sat down beside him.
"First he wouldn't even talk to me, it took a while to even get him to speak," you told him.
"Weird..." Jeremy said, eager to hear more.
"But when he did talk, he told me I wasn't working hard enough," you said to Jeremy.
"That's not that weird," he said, leaning back on the small plastic chair and folding his arms over his chest.
"No, this is where it gets weird," you began to tell him. "He stood up, walked over, grabbed my face," you said, watching the expression on Jeremy's face change from calm to feeling awkward. "He leaned into my neck, Jeremy, and said, 'I expect better,' all creepy-like," you finished. But you wouldn't tell him that you thought it was slightly hot.
"Okay," Jeremy responded. "That's pretty fucking weird, even for old man William."
You nodded, trying to forget what had just happened. The rest of the day continued normally. William didn't leave his office all day, in fact he flipped the stupid sign on his door to the 'Do Not Disturb' side. After your shift, you went home, no longer thinking of the weird incident with your boss.
But you were, in fact, dreading tomorrow. You couldn't tell if this was because you were scared of William, or attracted to him.

Day Two

It was the next day, and you woke up extra early to put some effort into your appearance, being that Jeremy had commented on it yesterday. Sure, you didn't care too much, but you didn't want to look ugly. You put on some quite well-done makeup and a cute outfit, thank god that the work dress-code was changed a week ago, now you don't have to wear a uniform anymore. There is nothing more on this earth that you hated more than the dreaded sweaty work uniforms.
After arriving at the pizza place, you went into the employee lounge, lazily clipping your name-tag onto your shirt.
"Wo-ho-ho," Jeremy teased. You rolled your eyes, smiling. "Who are we trying to impress today?"
"No one, Jeremy. Haha," you responded.
"If I didn't know any better, I would say it was Afton," he smirked. You felt your smile drop and your face heat up.
"No! It's not like that, ew ew ew!" you told him back, covering your mouth with your hand. He just laughed at you.
"Welp, you're in for a treat, because he told me he wants to see you again this morning," he said.
You groaned and balled your hands into fists, frowning and stepping away towards William's office. From behind you, you could hear Jeremy yell, "Good luck!"
You knocked much louder on Afton's door than you did yesterday, which earned you a loud clattering sound from inside of his office. You jumped back slightly at the sudden noise and you heart sped up. "Come in," you heard him say as he cleared his throat. You walked in his office, your breathing calming when you saw everything was orderly. His eyes widened slightly as he looked you up and down. You could've sworn that a bit of a blush formed on the tip of his nose, but you couldn't tell. You sat down at the chair in front of him and looked at him. "Yes?" you asked. "I worked hard yesterday for you, Mr. Afton" you told him.
"Please, just call me William," he told you.
"Okay, William."
"Well, I just wanted to tell you, you did very good yesterday," he said, his praising earning a him slight smile from you.
"Thank you, Mr. Af- William," you corrected yourself.
You two just stared at each other for a second. You admired the way his tired eyes deeply looked at yours, memorizing the way his face looked. He was quite an attractive man.
"Do you mean to stare?" he said to you, making his way over to beside your chair. You shook your head, watching his steps stop to the side of you. You gulped and felt flustered because of how close he was to you, yet again.
"No, sorry," you said, looking down at the ground, trying not to make eye contact.
"Look at me," he told you. As much as you didn't want to, you had to follow your you boss's instruction. You looked up at him, his face was a shade of pink and yours brushed over with a shade of red.
"You look quite beautiful today," he said. You smiled at him, taking in the compliment. "Was this all for me?" he asked.
You blinked a few times, taken aback by what he had said. But you would be lying if you said you hadn't been looking at your clothes in your mirror back at home, thinking about William's hands all over them. While you were doing your eyeliner, thinking about all the ways he could ruin it. Nonetheless, you shook your head and laughed awkwardly. "What?" you asked him.
"You heard me," he said, leaning down to your face. His breath was once again against your ear as he whispered, "Can it be all mine?" under his breath. Shivers were sent down your back as your heart fluttered, your mind whirling with dirty thoughts.
"At work?" you asked him, leaning into his neck more. The light smell of cigarettes and cologne greeted you as you did so.
"Mhm..." he breathed once more. "Can you be good and obey this task?" he teased.
You thought it over for a moment before nodding, feeling his lips connect to your neck as a smile forced its way onto your face.
This was going to be interesting...
