Chapter Text
Blitzø hadn't been feeling like himself lately.
He was usually a neverending ball of energy, but for the last few weeks he'd felt so tired. And not tired emotionally like his occasional depressive slumps, but physically. He had deep bags under his eyes that even makeup couldn't hide (and he'd tried, at first). Blitzø's bones ached. His spines ached. And no amount of sleep seemed to be making a difference.
Things had actually been going rather well for IMP. Their business was booming, with more clients than they had time for. Since Blitzø had made the deal with Stolas to return the book once a month and subsequently had gotten access to the living world, there was a neverending stream of sinners and hellborns coming to them for jobs. And usually that was more than enough to keep Blitzø going. But before and after each job he found himself falling asleep at his desk, and not for lack of trying. His trash can was overflowing with old iced coffee cups and candy wrappers. He hadn't even been going to M&M's house at night to spy on them. He was just too tired.
He had been, once again, dozing off at his desk when Moxxie had stormed into his office, followed by a more hesitant Millie. Blitzø slouched deeply into his desk chair, fighting to stay awake. Moxxie was trying to talk with him about... something? But Blitzø found it difficult to pay attention to Moxxie's obnoxious rambling, even more so than usual.
Blitzø noted that his head often felt cloudy these days. His thoughts were constantly drifting off, and he struggled even during jobs to stay focused. That's what had happened this time, and probably what Moxxie was complaining about now.
" - last job we nearly didn't kill the target." Moxxie was blabbering on in the background. He was always going on and on. "We need to have a better plan next time! Sir -" Blitzø wondered if he should leave and go grab another iced coffee. He'd only had three so far today. Maybe the jolt of caffeine would help. Why was he so damn tired? Maybe he could get two more -
"SIR!" Moxxie yelled. Blitzø stirred, his thoughts coming back to the present moment.
"What the fuck Moxxie? Can't you see I was thinking?"
Moxxie glared at him. "Sir, we need to talk about what happened out there!" Moxxie gestured to where the portal had recently opened to let them cross back into hell.
"No. We don't." Blitzø growled, standing up at his desk to assert dominance over the smaller imp. He waved his hand dismissively. "It's fine, we got 'em, end of story."
"B, he's right." Millie started, softly, to Blitzø. "You've been acting really strange lately. Even for you."
Blitzø groaned, pulling his hand down his face is exasperation. "Look, I'm just tired, okay? No matter how much I sleep, I still feel like I was fucked by a hundred dicks."
"Gross!" Loona yelled from the other room.
"Maybe you should take tomorrow off, Sir. Get some rest?" Moxxie suggested. "Or go to the doctor? Maybe you've caught something."
Blitzø started to argue when his phone notification screamed at him. It was a text from Stolas.
So excited to see you tonight, Blitzy!
"God fucking damn it," Blitzø sighed. He had totally forgotten that tonight was the full moon. He had really been looking forward to going home and falling asleep on the couch to Seabiscuit. "No sleep for me, gotta go satisfy prince charming so we can keep going topside." Blitzø slammed down his phone, breaking the screen. Great, another phone bites the dust. "Listen, everyone just go home early today, m'kay? We did our jobs for today." Blitzø grabbed his small stuffed horse from his desk drawer and put it in his pocket. He pushed past Moxxie, making him stumble, and headed out of the office.
"I'll see you fucks tomorrow."
