Chapter Text
"We're back!"
The war had no chance in dampening kaminari's ability to make a grand entrance. Kirishima laughs weakly along with Sero, walking up the old wooden steps of 'Midnight Saloon'. He wanted nothing more than to sit down and enjoy Momo's famous tea.
"-oh and there's Sero and Kiri! You two must be real tired huh?" Speaking of the town's only source of class. Kirishima is wakened from his weary thoughts to quietly rejoin the conversation.
"Yes ma'am," Chuckles Sero while Kirishima grumbles. "Not everyone can be all energy and no brain."
Momo politely hides a giggle behind her hand as she risks a glance to said blonde who peered over the swinging doors in anticipation. "Well we are mighty busy tonight, but you three just sit down and I'll get started on some tea for ya."
They nod gratefully, shuffling over to one of the few open tables. Kirishima sits down heavily across from Sero and Kaminari, the latter wiggling his eyebrows at a young brunette waitress.
"Damn Kaminari, we just got here and you're already making people uncomfortable. Color me impressed."
"She's not uncomfortable! Looks she's smiling!"
"Uncomfortably" Sero turns to mumble into his shoulder just loud enough for Kirishima to hear. The red head didn't have anywhere near enough energy to keep up with their antics. He rests his head on his folded arms, focusing solely on staying awake.
"-shima, Kirishima!"
"Huh? Is peace forbidden and- are you seriously whisper yelling at me-"
"Hold on man just look at that blondie!"
Kiri couldn't help that his warm folded arms were calling to him louder than his over-excited friend. He knew better than to think that was gonna deter his buddy so he gave in and grumbled more to the table than to Denki, "what about him?"
"That's a Domin!"
That got Kiri to lift his head up to look where Kaminari was not-so-discretely looking and, quite obnoxiously, nodding his head. His eyes widened.
The boy was shorter than Kirishima himself, that much was obvious even from a little ways away. He had thick and smooth light blonde hair that cascaded to his shoulders and shadowed- red eyes? Those eyes are native only to Domins, but they didn't compare to the fearsome eyes that frequented his nightmares. They were cast to the floor as the man in question curled in on himself, none of the deadly determination that glowed as Kirishima watched too many people die.
Back in the war, Domin armies flooded in hundreds at a time. They were willing to sacrifice themselves and others to win. Don't get him wrong, he would be willing to sacrifice himself for his country, but these were more than patriotic soldiers. They were machines devoid of any thoughts but increasing Alivyn casualties. They treated their fellow soldiers as weapons, not humans.
The blonde has shuffled closer, keeping his head down as he slowly walked towards the table. What was he doing here? The people have gone near silent as the glared at him, only a few whispers were shared. How was he not killed the minute he walked in? Was Mina keeping him? No, she's heard their stories of the nasty Domins, she wouldn't betray her town like that and let someone such a threat in.
"Hey Slut!"
Suddenly, the blonde was drenched in whiskey. The culprit, a farmer, and his fellow drunk companions whooped and hollered with mirth. The explosion of sound in the room got fellow patrions to their normal level, desperate to go about their nights and ignore the obnoxious display in the middle of the saloon.
"Where do you think you're going rat?" Now that the Domin had gotten much closer to his own table, Kirishima could see that he was a full grown adult despite of his height, yet the farmer man handled him with strength only a fat drunk man could behold to sit in his lap. The Domin seemed more than just shy at the treatment, anger and shame overpowered by fear. Although, it seemed glaringly obvious to Kirishima that this man would have a fighting chance to escape and turn it back around on the farmer. From what he could remember from the things he and all soldiers were forced to learn about their enemies, Domins had this natural strength that made up for their height, a strength envied by many of his comrades. The were sharp, in their minds and appearance. Fast thinking was a trait displayed by them that kept Alivyn nerves on fire.
"For such a nasty rat, you sure do have a pretty body." Pretty wasn't a word Kirishima would ever think of to describe a man his and, seemingly, the Domin's age. If he was right in guessing they were about the same, the that would put them both in their mid twenties. Looking at the man only so many strides away from his table, Kirishima focused on the hard lines of his arms, although softened by malnourishment he had seen too often due to the suddenness of war. It didn't look right for a body with so much power to tremor in the farmer's nasty arms, desperately holding on the a tray of tea. His and his friends' tea, he noticed.
Kirishima, Sero, and Denki looked at each other. Although they hated the Domins, they were raised right. They promised Mina that they wouldn't let that kind of stuff happen, and unfortunately, that applies to Domins too.
The Domin's face scrunched up and was downcast towards the floor, anger seeping through him not only towards the situation he was in but also himself. Pride seemed to run in Domin genes and this man's was greatly wounded. He seemed to just, give up, although he still fought the soldiers arms a safe distance away from his body.
The soldiers shared one last agreeing look before they got up, Eijiro walking towards the commotion. All drowsiness seems to drain from Kirishima's body as he straightened up and put on a forced smile, stopping beside the farmers' table.
"Excuse me, that's our tea you're holding up." His voice dropped an octave unconsciously, eyes flicking between the farmer and the Domin, the latter's eyes now squinted open to glare at the ground and showed them to be watery.
The table suddenly grew quiet. All eyes were on him now. The farmer gawked at him.
"Hey now, don't tell me you're standing up for the rat." The farmer laughed shakily.
"I'm not standing up for nobody. I just want my waiter to bring me my tea." He stalked back to his table and shot an impatient look over to the frozen farmer. Kirishima prided himself in keeping a level head and heavenly patience, because he was told as a young man that the strongest people can hold on to those traits when all else is falling apart. But now, he was too worn out and let himself show a tad bit of weakness. It still helps another, he supposes.
Nobody dared argue with him, his friend settling back in their seats with the situation handled.
"You got lucky this time, rat." The farmer grumbled. With a little new-found courage, the Domin ripped himself away from the farmer, seemingly knowing that it wouldn't have quite the horrid consequences. It got the farmer a few mean chuckles from his own table at the ease the Domain released himself.
The man, still holding the tea in his arms, backed away from the farmer's table and straightened himself out before he cast a quick glance at his original destination. Turning towards Kirishima's table, blonde hair once again covered his eyes and shoulders remained concaved as he quickly closed the distance and quietly set down their tea.
Just then Mina reappeared, stopping to spit on the farmers who were rightfully afraid. She stomped over to the soldiers' table, taking in angry puffs of air from storming across the saloon.
"Those damned pigs, if they weren't so close to the sheriff they woulda never set foot in here anyway, those privileged fuckers are an embarrassment." She stopped in her tracks as she noticed her friends simply staring at her and straightened up. "Thank you guys, if I hadn't been held up with some newcomers I woulda set them straight myself. I had wanted to make a good impression but that didn't work out any damn way- now hold on Bakugou, you best be introduced to my good friends since they help ya out."
Said blonde was clearly trying to continue his job diligently, although still smelling strongly from the whiskey settling into his clothes, but Mina had no fear in grabbing his bicep and dragging him back in font of the table, not an easy feat although they were the same height; he had quite some muscle mass on her. he was clearly not so happy about such but kept his mouth shut and head down as Mina plowed right along.
"Boys, this is Katsuki Bakugou, I helped him get a job here and he's been our best employee, besides myself of course. And these folks here are my closest friends; Kami, Sero, and Kiri!"
The blonde, Bakugou, raised his head to peer at the group and the corner of his mouth twitched up in a, humorously unnatural, but polite smile. And Kirishima? He was enthralled.
