Work Text:

“Alright, that’s it for today's class. Make sure to work on your projects and come back with questions,” Draco said. He walked down the rows of desks and poked a student in the middle of the class with his wand. “Wake up, class is over.”
They’d just moved from cauldron sizing and care to brewing history. It was an important step in their young wizard knowledge even if they all found it dreadfully boring. He couldn’t wait to talk about the fascinating topic of brewing safety with them.
But of course, it was imperative they had the lessons in order to start brewing potions soon. Draco looked at his planning parchment, examining the month. He could squeeze in a simple lab next week where they could brew Swelling Solution. He shook his head at the memory of that particular potion during second year. The easy brew would be a great time to show step by step why safety and focus is important.
Draco took to grading parchments from his advanced potion class. Various proud and frustrating assignments later, a knock startled him from his thoughts.
“Malfoy, do you have a moment?”
His door creaked open revealing Hermione Granger, Muggle Studies Professor, standing in his doorway.
She did look magnificent today, her curls still big but less frizzy than when they were students themselves. Her cheeks had a soft pink to them, a similar shade of her lips. Her honey brown eyes glinted in the setting sunlight from his few narrow windows.
His heart skipped a beat before starting a rather fast tempo in his chest. Methodically, he wiped his hands on his thigh attempting to adjust his uncomfortable erection and dry his clammy palms. Staying behind the desk would hopefully save him from embarrassment. “Yes, Ms Granger, what can I do for you?”
Hermione walked across the stone floor, her shoes clicking and clacking the whole way and her robe flowing behind her. “You know I’ve insisted you call me Hermione. I wanted to see if you had an ingredient for me. I wanted to use it for my own potion making.”
Always the independent woman.
“If you need a potion, I’m more than happy to brew it for a friend.” Draco hoped he didn’t sound too desperate. He would be more than happy to help her. She was more than welcoming when he got to Hogwarts, one of the only people that would talk to him. Hermione spent time helping him get his room set up. It was rather easy since she was right next door.
She smiled and his heart flipped. “Malfoy, that’s very kind of you. I’d still like to see if you have it, just in case. Who knows where you might be once your court-appointed teaching is up.”
The reminder of why he was really here stung. It was true, instead of Azkaban with his father, he was sentenced to teach and help rebuild Hogwarts. At first the idea made him groan, but learning he’d be Hermione’s colleague brought a new appreciation to the position.
“Right this way.” He walked her over to the potion closet, careful to try and keep the door open due to the automatic locking charm. His chest brushed hers as she walked by and her lavender and vanilla perfume dazzled his senses. Maybe being in such a confined space with her wasn’t a good idea. He’d just managed a solid friendship with her and he didn’t want to blow it.
Draco took careful steps to pass and not to touch again. Once he reached the opposite end of the closet, he rolled up his sleeves. “What kind of potion are you trying to brew?”
“Dreamless Sleep,” she said.
On first glance back to her, he thought she was staring at his arms, but when he blinked her eyes were looking at his and there was a slight pink tinge to her cheeks. “So what are you missing?”
“I need Sopophorous Bean. It wasn’t available in Diagon Alley or in Hogsmeade.”
Draco scanned the top shelves for the ingredient, his eyes finally landing on a large jar of the elusive pearly-white beans. As he was handing it to Hermione the castle shook, and she fell into him. He dropped the jar to steady her. Draco couldn’t help but notice how perfectly she fit in his arms. The top of her head just touched the bottom of his pointed chin.
Suddenly the door clicked shut and the closet fell into darkness. Hermione ran over and pounded on the door. “It won’t budge.”
He swallowed as his heart sank in his chest. Fuck. There was no way he was stuck in a closet with his childhood and current crush. Sure he’d had fantasies about this exact moment but it did not go like this. He fixed the jar and cleaned up the beans.
“Malfoy. Come help me try to open this door. I can't feel a handle,” Hermione said.
Draco scratched the back of his neck, mentally pushing the fantasy away. “It won’t open, Granger.”
“What do you mean it won’t open?” The end of her question was shrill. “Are we trapped here?”
“There’s a safety locking charm on it. It can only be opened from the outside.”
Her eyes widened and she sank to the floor, back against the door. “So we are prisoners in this potion closet? Is that what you’re telling me?”
“Until tomorrow morning, yes,” he said.
“What moron came up with that idea?”
“I did,” he said.
A small pause. “Why?”
“To make sure no one could try and steal ingredients. And if they did try to sneak in, they’d be stuck.” Draco sighed.
This really isn’t how his fantasy with Hermione in a closet would’ve gone. During his morning wank sessions he envisioned undoing her buttons one by one until her breasts were finally revealed. Her skirt would be pulled up to show her delectable arse as he slowly sank into her wet heat. He’d tie her arms with his Slytherin tie and cast a sticking charm keeping them in place above her head. She would be worshiped, kisses and bite marks coloring her skin marking her as his.
He’d wrap his long fingers in her riotous curls to pull her head to the side so he could kiss her neck. His wand would be charmed to vibrate and he’d press it to her clit. “Don’t come until I give you permission,” he would whisper in her ear. And when they both finally came he’d say, “Good girl, Hermione.”
Revisiting the fantasy encouraged another hard-on. Draco made sure to stay on the far end of the closet away from Hermione for safety, but also to preserve his dignity. He could only imagine the reaction she might have if she discovered his erection.
“Lumos.” A warm light from Hermione’s wand filled the closet. She set her wand on a nearby shelf and took a deep breath.
Draco twiddled his thumbs, wishing this hell would end. Damn him and his safety ideas. She probably had things to do and there he went screwing things up.
After a while her voice broke the silence. “How are the students for you?”
“They behave. I don’t know if it’s my demeanor or fear that a former, reformed Death Eater is teaching them, but I don’t try to think about it much.” He bowed his head, looking at a collection of dust on a shelf as a wave of shame from his past decisions washed over him.
A giggle bubbles from her lips. “Malfoy, all the girls have a crush on you. I’ve had to reprimand a few in my class for gossiping.”
“You haven’t,” Draco said.
“I have. Especially Amelia.” Hermione ran her fingers through her hair and laughed. “She is the biggest gossip about you! It’s ridiculous. She gabs on and on about you and your Quidditch uniform during practice.”
Draco laughed. Maybe he wasn’t as terrible of a professor as he thought. “I’ll make sure to keep an eye out for her. Keep my distance.”
“Perhaps for the best. I can’t say I blame her though. The quidditch uniform fits you well if I remember correctly.” Something…new danced in her eyes. Something Draco desperately wanted to explore.
“I can’t say I knew you noticed.” He mustered all the confidence he could.
“Come on, Malfoy. I have eyes. You’re quite the fit young wizard.” She looked down at the floor. “It doesn't take too much imagination to think…”
“Think what?” He didn’t dare get excited. No, definitely not.
“Think that…um…you must have nice musculature under your robes. To say the least.” Hermione twirled her robes between her fingers.
“Granger, are you saying you find me attractive?”
She covered her face, “I mean, in a traditional sense maybe you aren’t unattractive .”
“I find you attractive.” The words rushed out before he really knew what he had said. Fuck.
“What?” Her eyes were wide, eyebrows raised. Hermione raised a hand to cover her mouth. “You…no.”
This could be going much better. “Forget I said anything. It was a silly thing anyway, I’m sure I’ll get over it soon enough.”
Hermione stared at him. Draco closed his eyes to try and escape the abysmal situation he was in. A tap on the shoulder pulled him back to reality. When he opened his eyes, honey brown met his gaze. “Granger–”
And then her lips were on his, soft and sweet. Her hands were at the nape of his neck and her hips pressed against his. Her hand moved to his chest and gripped his tie, pulling him closer. Hermione deepened the kiss for a moment before pulling away. “I’ve been wanting to do that for a long time.”
Draco smirked before pulling her in for another kiss, this one more heated than the first. His hips ground up against her, his erection rubbing against her knickers. His tongue slid past hers. His hand gripped her arse. It was soft and fit perfectly in his hand. Draco groaned. His hand slid under her shirt and bra, cupping her breast. He played with her nipples between his fingers.
Hermione ground against his erection, her hips swiveling in perfect rhythm to his thrusts. “Please tell me this isn’t a one-off,” she said between kisses. Her deft fingers undid the top few buttons of his oxford before her hand explored the taut muscle underneath.
“Fuck no.”
“Good.” Her hand slid lower towards his cock.
Draco pulled back, cupping her face in his hand. “As much as I would love to fuck you right now, I would prefer to do this a different way.”
Hermione frowned. “What do you mean?”
“Hermione Granger, would you please go on a date with me? I’m deeply smitten with you and I have been for quite some time.” He tucked a stray curl behind her ear. “I just hope you say yes and give me a chance.”
She paused a moment before smiling. Her fingertip traced the outline of his jaw, making him shiver. “Draco. First names would be appropriate now that we’ve snogged in the closet. I would be delighted to go on a date with you.”
The door clicked and creaked open. Light from the classroom filled the space, startling them both. Hermione whipped around, her hair slapping him in the face. She jumped off of him and scrambled to button her blouse.
Draco felt his heart stop as he followed the robes up to the face of Minerva McGonagall. He was dead. Surely he’d be fired and reported to the Wizengamot. They’d send him to Azkaban and his freedom would be sucked away.
“Ah, so my plan finally worked. I can’t wait to tell Flitwick I won our bet.” Minerva put her hands together, a wide smile on her face. “Well, please do get dressed. You both have rounds to do tonight.”
