Work Text:

Taemoo woke to someone knocking on the door. He shifted in Hari's bed, looking over at her sleeping form. He quietly moved out of the bed, careful to not wake her. He couldn't find his shirt. Oh well, never mind.

He swung open the door. A blond woman, dressed in gym gear, stood at the door about to knock again. Her eyes widened as she took in the shirtless Taemoo in front of her.

"Uhh..." She blinked a couple of times then glanced at the number on the door.

"Hari's not awake right now." Taemoo nodded once then closed the door on the woman who was still standing there with a shocked expression on her face.

Samantha almost fell down the stairs running down to the entrance.

"Oh my GOD!"

Rachel had her earpods fall out as Samantha shook her arms.

"Hey! What's that for?!" Rachel swatted Samantha away so she could pick up her earpods. They were wearing matching black gym clothes. They had decided to start taking up running as a way to get fit. All those food tours were beginning to show.

"Where's Hari? She said she would be joining us."

Samantha shook her head, her face flushed. "You will not believe who is in Hari's room!!"

Hari had woken up late and was currently waiting in line for coffee at the gofood cafeteria. Normally she would have gotten one from the diner on the way to the work building but since she was running late had decided the cafeteria was a safer option than her usual place.

She checked her phone for any messages, Samantha and Rachel hadn't replied in their group chat. Where were those two?

"There you are, Hari." Rachel came up behind her in the line, linking her arm with Hari's. "We missed you at today's run."

Hari blinked at her confused for a second then remembered that they had discussed exercising together. She hit her forehead with the palm of her hand. "I totally forgot, sorry!"

Rachel nodded giving her a sly smile. "Probably since you've been exercising without us."

Hari was about to ask what she meant by that,  she was definitely not exercising without them when someone else linked their arms with her free arm. She turned to see Samantha had joined them too.

"I can't believe you've been hiding this from us!" Samantha shook her head. "Innocent Hari my ass."

OK now Hari was really confused now. Was this a lost in translation thing? Her English had improved leaps and bounds since being in New York but there were some sayings she really didn't understand.

"What are you two talking about?" They were nearly at the front of the line for coffee now.

"I'm talking about that tall, dark and handsome someone who opened your door this morning when I went to get you for our run." Samantha raised her eyebrow at Hari, her expression was care to explain yourself?

Oh crap. Hari felt herself go red. Taemoo hadn't mentioned anything when he left in the morning. She was trying to think of something, anything to say when Rachel tugged on her arm and she turned to her other friend.

"And not just any handsome man but our CEO!" She said in a loud whisper.

Hari went to cover Rachel's mouth, looking around the cafeteria but no one seemed to be paying attention to them.

"Shhh!" Hari untangled herself from her two friends, raising her arms up in surrender. "Please don't tell anyone, I will tell you guys everything just don't tell anybody."

Taemoo checked the time on his watch again. Hari was normally punctual. He had picked out this new restaurant for them to try, this one's menu was a fusion of Korean and South American dishes.

He looked up at the entrance again just as Hari walked in. She waved at him as a waiter walked her to their table.

"Sorry I'm late." She leaned in and kissed him on the cheek before sitting down.

Taemoo smiled at her. "It's fine, I just got here too."

Hari looked around the restaurant, taking in the decor before turning back to look at him. "So this morning, did anything happen while I was asleep?" She asked, flicking through the menu.

Taemoo looked at her curiously. "This morning?" Oh. "Yes, some lady knocked on your door. I told her you were sleeping." He searched her face for a clue as to what this was leading to. Hari continued to look at the menu.

"Without a shirt on?" She finally looked up at him, giving him a wry smile.

He blushed.  He had done that, not on purpose. "You were wearing my shirt." He smiled smugly back at her.

"Yea well Samantha had an eyeful and now two of my friends here know about us." Hari closed the menu and folded her arms across her chest.

Taemoo reached across the table with his hand. Hari hesitated before clasping his hand with hers. "Would it be so bad if people knew?"

Hari sighed. "They also work at gofood. I know they won't tell anyone but I don't need people thinking I got here because I'm dating the CEO."

He squeezed her hand. He hadn't meant to make her feel insecure. "What can I do to make it up to you?" Taemoo smiled at her, he knew she couldn't resist when he gave her that look.

She smiled back at him, a twinkle in her eye. "There is something you can do..."

This was not what he had in mind when he had asked Hari how he could make it up to her. He had thoughts of a romantic weekend away upstate somewhere. Not currently being the bag man for three ladies as they did the most touristy things New York city had on offer.  They'd gone to the Statue of Liberty, to the top of the Empire State Building, he'd had to row them around the lake in Central Park and were now sitting dress circle at the musical Hamilton.  All at his expense naturally.

"Wow these seats are amazing.  How did you get them at such short notice?" Hari's friend with the British accent asked. Taemoo frowned, he always struggled with English names.

"Did you want any drinks at the bar, Rachel?" The blond one asked her. She turned to Hari and him, "Did you guys want any?"

Hari nodded, "Taemoo will get them." She smiled sweetly at him.  She was definitely getting a kick at ordering him around. They gave him their order and as he left he heard one of them say, "You must love when he leaves." Then a round of giggles.

Afterwards they had a late night snack stop at one of the many food carts dotting the city streets, they had dropped off Samantha and Rachel back to their apartment building but Hari had insisted on walking some more.

Hari linked their arms together as they walked.

"Thanks for today." Hari looked up at him smiling. "They would not have stopped bothering me about you until we did this."

"They seem...nice." Taemoo was secretly glad she had made friends while in New York even if her new friends were like Youngseo in annoyance levels.

She laughed. "They just wanted to make sure you were right for me."

He smiled back at her. "So, did I pass the test?"

Hari stopped him, placing her arms around his neck to pull him down to her, kissing him on the lips. "With flying colors."
