Work Text:
Kim Seungmin was the odd one out of his middle school.
Sporting big glasses, with his hair patted down with gel, and his unabashed liking for magical girl anime; everyone knew it was social suicide to associate or even be seen near the weeb. He would sit in the corner of the classroom and pull out a manga, almost obnoxious in its hot pink, spark-spangled cover design with a skimpily-glad teenage girl posing unnaturally. Other times, the quiet of study hall would be interrupted by a high-pitched animated voice screeching a cutesy J-pop tune and they’d look to see the culprit: Kim Seungmin, fingers tapping along to the rhythm of a fictional girl group song on his phone. His liking for such things had gotten him in trouble more than a few times, with some teachers confiscating his manga when he got caught reading under the table or even detention, for the study hall incident.
Then there was Yang Jeongin.
Yang Jeongin, the weirdo gifted kid who excelled in all things academic but could not, for the life of him, read the room.
The kid was a year younger than most of them, had skipped a grade due to his smarts, and could have skipped ahead farther if not for his mother insisting he “needed to socialize with kids around his age”.
Not that he did that much. Socializing.
Or he did try, sometimes, but. He sucked.
Yang Jeongin sucked so bad at social interaction nobody wanted to even go through the mental torture of all that awkwardness.
So it was that Jeongin was mostly left alone, eating out of his Spongebob lunchbox at that one decrepit table at the yard. Or he’d just hide out in the library and finish all his homework so he could go home and catch up on his favorite cartoons until bedtime (10 PM).
No one was ever outwardly mean to Kim Seungmin and Yang Jeongin, but everyone steered clear. They were the Oddball Duo.
It was that label that made people, both students and teachers, unconsciously push them together.
When people had to partner up, the two were always the last ones unclaimed. And they’d have to go together, whether they liked it or not. Or during activities, like school trips, when you had to have a buddy; Seungmin and Jeongin were always the last to partner up. They were the losers of the school, and their classmates and teachers thought they should practically be best friends already.
But actually, the first real conversation they have is this:
“Are you a pervert?”
Seungmin felt his eyebrow twitch. A shadow loomed over him, and he looked up to see–
“Yang Jeongin. What do you want?”
Jeongin had these big, stupid eyes that make him look dumb. And he had a tendency to breathe through his mouth, which meant Seungmin could see his uneven teeth, held together by braces that looked painful. Yang Jeongin annoyed the living shit out of him. Seungmin was convinced the kid was The Loser of the school. And that made him feel a bit better about himself.
Seungmin had to shut this shit down fast. He was already on thin ice as it was. He couldn’t risk going further down the school ladder if he was caught willingly talking to the biggest nerd–
“You’re muttering. Wow, you’re creepy.” Jeongin guffawed.
Seungmin scowled at him. “Piss off, nerd. I don’t wanna talk to you.”
Jeongin rolled his eyes and plopped down on the seat next to him. “Don’t act like you’re cooler than me. You have no friends. See, I’m the only one sitting here.”
“Fuck off.”
Jeongin physically leaned back and gasped, “That’s a bad word!”
Seungmin snorted, “What are you, five?”
“I’m twelve.”
“Oh my god.”
Ever since that day, they had lunch together.
That was how middle school passed: having lunch, to sitting together in class, to tutoring sessions, to hanging out after school, to finally, begrudgingly , admitting they were friends.
In-between the pivotal moments, there were the small steps that made them grow closer together. There was Seungmin shyly explaining why he liked magical girls and how he thought they were pretty and that their stories had more to them than just flashing their panties. Jeongin binging Spongebob Squarepants with Seungmin during one of their sleepovers and not feeling like he had to hold himself back from laughing because he was ‘too old’. Seungmin auditioning for the school choir and Jeongin joining in with him so he wouldn’t feel alone. Jeongin getting a C for the first time and slumping against Seungmin on the couch of his living room, the two of them in silence; sipping juice boxes and eating jellies and Seungmin pretending he doesn’t notice when Jeongin starts sniffing and wiping his eyes on his sleeve.
(Seungmin puts Jeongin’s favorite Spongebob episode on, and he makes it a point to laugh loudly at all Jeongin’s favorite parts.)
Middle school graduation sees the two of them together with Jeongin as valedictorian and Seungmin passing off average. It sees the two of them rushing out of the auditorium and getting onto Seungmin’s worn bike, determined to catch the premiere showing of Seungmin’s magical girl movie which just so happened to be on the same day as graduation.
Their parents throw a fit, but they’re not as mad as they should be, not when they see their boys fighting to giggle while they’re being scolded, sharing funny looks.
High School, on the other hand, is more of a nightmare.
Puberty makes everyone a little bitch, and Seungmin and Jeongin were prime targets.
No one gets beaten up or anything, but the snickers are a little louder, and their peers are meaner when it comes to telling them about how weird and awkward they are. The two of them stick it out, shoulder to shoulder. The only change was where Seungmin used to be more outspoken, Jeongin had slowly shed his shyness and was now the one loudly throwing ‘bad words’ if anyone talked shit.
The first two years, no one takes Jeongin seriously.
Then he starts growing taller and now everyone’s uncomfortable.
It’s like over one summer, Yang Jeongin had gone from baby beanpole to a whole damn tree, with how tall he had shot up and– were those muscles ?
His polo starts straining against his chest and what once used to look like ratty bird’s nest on his head becomes ‘tastefully mussed’. Girls and a few boys start trying to approach Jeongin, but where he used to be cutely awkward, he was just now outright uninterested.
Seungmin, god bless him, is unaware of all this.
He doesn’t notice or if he does, it’s hardly a blip. He spends almost every single day with Jeongin, and Jeongin has hardly changed in the way he interacts with Seungmin, so as far as he knows, nothing has changed.
Jeongin tells him about swimming as a sport and how he wants to try the gym after high school, when he’s a little more developed. Seungmin just hums a “You do you, dude” and continues scrolling through the fanfic on his screen because they’re about to kiss.
Jeongin throws his Spongebob plushie at Seungmin’s head. Seungmin snaps, “Fuck off, loser!”
“You’re the loser!”
And Jeongin’s tackling him and they both descend into a fit of giggles, each convinced that the other is the dumber one. (They are both dumb.)
High School passes, and they both get into the same university.
(Seungmin would rather die than admit to the fact that he put in what had to be hundreds of extra hours outside formal tutoring and the study sessions with Jeongin just so he could get into the same pretentious ass university. It was for his future , okay.)
During freshman year, Seungmin is a little determined to have a change of pace and to break out of his shell. As friendly and more chill his schoolmates are, Seungmin realizes he’s just more tired than happy after he tries to hang out with them. And he shrugs it off, says, “I guess I’m really an introvert.”
Doesn’t overthink it, just goes back to his dorm and watches his beloved magical girl series.
Jeongin, on the other hand, goes through every freshman rite of passage possible.
He gets blackout drunk, loses his virginity in a threesome, joins a fraternity (“Hi! I’m Chan. Have you heard of Sigma Kappa Zeta ?”)
And without fail, he shows up to his bro hangouts with Seungmin, wearing sunglasses at 12 noon, trying to not make it obvious how sleep-deprived he is from partying and fucking the shit out of two girls (at the same time) the night before.
Seungmin barely glances up from the menu. He mutters, “Wanna share pancakes? Your treat.”
“Asshole.”
But Jeongin pulls out his wallet and pays the bill.
Seungmin is consistent, and he likes sticking to his daily routine. So he goes to classes, has lunch with Jeongin, studies with Jeongin during exam periods, and when he’s feeling daring, he goes out with Jeongin to the unlimited chicken wing diner down the block from the university and has a couple of beers.
Seungmin does have other friends though! He’s part of the Anime and Manga Enthusiasts’ Circle, and on days when Jeongin isn’t free or when he’s busy with class or his lameass fraternity, Seungmin heads to the org room and chills out with Han Jisung and Hwang Hyunjin.
(“You don’t even go here,” Jisung hisses at Hyunjin.
“How many times do I have to tell you, I passed the screening and I am a member!”)
It’s on one such lazy afternoon, the three of them lounging on the fluffy carpet donated by Jisung’s murderous boyfriend Lee “Know” Minho, that Hyunjin offhandedly comments, “Oh my god, Yang Jeongin got bitchslapped by Kim Haram on her birthday party.”
Seungmin barely looks up from the manga in his hands, but he does ask, “Who?”
A phone is unceremoniously shoved to his face. “Look!”
Seungmin squints at the grainy, dark video that’s occasionally lit up by the strobe lights. In the footage, there’s Jeongin holding his hands up, seemingly trying to appease the enraged girl ranting in front of him. Jeongin tries to place a hand on the girl’s shoulder, but she lands a resounding bitch slap that makes Jeongin’s face snap from the force of it. A chorus of “OOOOOHHHH”s and “GODDAMN”s ooze out of the grainy speakers. And as the girl storms off, the one recording yells, “Fucking deserved!” and it cuts off there.
Seungmin scowls at the now dark phone screen. “What a bitch,”
“Yeah, Jeongin shouldn’t have–”
“Why’d she have to make a scene?”
Seungmin pulls out his phone, ready to shoot a message to his best friend and ask to hang out. Surely, Jeongin must be feeling bummed out. He acts all tough, but he’s so fragile, and Seungmin knows people’s words get more to him than he lets on.
A couple of snorts break him out of his line of thought.
He looks up to see Hyunjin and Jisung elbowing each other, snickering at him.
Jisung laughs, “No offense bro, but Jeongin isn’t exactly faultless.”
Seungmin puts his phone down. He defends, “I know he’s not a genius at social cues, but I don’t think it’s right of her to hit him.”
Hyunjin and Jisung give each other a look. Hyunjin asks, “What, exactly, do you think happened there?”
Seungmin huffs, “Jeongin’s always been awkward and sometimes, he can say the wrong thing at the wrong time. Yeah, sometimes it’s annoying, but that’s not an excuse for that girl to hit him.”
“Ohh-kaayy.”
Hyunjin shakes his head, smirking as he goes back to scrolling on his phone. Jisung has this smile on his face, and he shakes his head at Seungmin.
“What?” Seungmin barks.
Jisung shrugs and he sings, “Nothing!”
“Hey, do you know where Jeongin is?”
Seungmin is heading out of class when Oh Arin, the campus model, pulls the strap of his satchel and forces him to stop. Seungmin sighs, adjusts his glasses, and exhales, “I’m sorry?”
Arin raises a perfectly plucked eyebrow at him. “Yang Jeongin. You’re best friends, right? Where is he?”
(Seungmin is on his way to meet him for lunch at their favorite cafe. But he–)
“I don’t know, sorry.” Seungmin tries to give an apologetic smile, but it comes off more as an awkward grimace.
Arin pouts and she tells him, “Well. If you see him, tell him I’m still waiting, and he should call me.”
“Okay.”
(“Oh Arin was looking for you. Said something about you calling her.”
Jeongin speaks through a mouthful of cheesecake. “Arin who?”
“Gross, why are you such a pig?” Seungmin laughs as he throws a wad of tissue paper at his best friend.
Jeongin opens his mouth wider, delighting in Seungmin’s disgusted face.)
It doesn’t stop with Arin.
Girls, boys. People he shares classes with, and people he’s never even met before. Some angry, some hopeful, some just mildly interested. Seungmin didn’t really notice it before Arin’s straightforward approach.
Somehow, in the past two years and a semester, he had become some kind of walking Reception Desk for Yang Jeongin.
“Hey, Seung-!”
“I don’t know where he is.”
It’s one of the rare occasions when Seungmin is telling the truth. He doesn’t know where Jeongin is, hasn’t heard from him in four days. He had told Seungmin, of course, that him and his frat brothers were going camping for a weekend, and he’d be out of reach for a bit. That was okay.
But surely, Jeongin had to be in his frat house by now. Maybe he was tired?
Seungmin, resolute, makes his way across the courtyard and in the direction of Greek Row. It’s not easy to miss Sigma Kappa Zeta’s frat house; it’s the biggest among them, white, pristine, and kind of intimidating. It’s there that he jogs up the steps leading to the carved double doors, and he musters all his courage to press the door bell.
It’s barely a few seconds before the door swings open, and Seungmin has to hurriedly lean back lest he get a bruise. In the doorway, a short, beefy man with a resting bitch face starts, “We’re currently not accepting pledgees–”
“No! I’m, I’m uh, not a pledgee. I’m looking for Yang Jeongin?”
The man groans. “Look, if he fucked you and ghosted you, we are not obligated to–”
“What?! No! I’m his best friend, what the fuck!”
The frat man quirks a brow. He crosses his arms and leans on the doorframe. “You’re Kim Seungmin?”
Seungmin swallows. “Yeah! I just wanna see Jeongin.”
The man smirks. “Hmm. Okay. I’m Seo Changbin. Come on in, I’ll call him for you.”
They step into the foyer of the frat house (more like mansion, really), and Changbin is just telling him to go take a seat in the living room when two people come storming down the staircase.
“You’re a fucking asshole, Jeongin.”
“Does this mean no head?”
“Fuck you!”
The slim, pretty young man rushes past them and out the door, slamming it so loud, all three of them wince. Jeongin sighs, staring wistfully after the door, until he looks down and sees–
“Seungmin! The hell are you doing here, dweeb?”
He bounds down the last few steps steps to Seungmin, flashing him his trademark grin. (Seungmin called it his “Spongebob Smile”.)
Jeongin looks down at him (because the bitch is taller now and is still growing, the nerve of him). His hair is messy, strands growing longer, and Jeongin can’t be bothered to cut it even when Seungmin joked he’d do it if Jeongin didn’t want to pay a barber. Jeongin is shirtless, bare footed, and wearing black basketball shorts. Seungmin notices that his neck and torso are littered with bruises. So he asks, “Was the camping trip that rough?”
Changbin muffles his laughter. Jeongin shoots him a glare.
Jeongin clears his throat and answers, “Yeah. The trail was harder than expected.”
“Oh, it was hard, alright.”
“Changbin hyung, don’t you have to go to the studio?” Jeongin bites sweetly.
The upperclassman rolls his eyes. He turns to Seungmin and says, “Nice meeting you, man. You should come around more often. We have a party this–”
“Seungmin doesn’t like parties. And we have movie night on Friday.”
“Goddamn,” Changbin mutters under his breath.
“Bye, hyung!”
Jeongin ushers him out.
When Jeongin turns back to him, Seungmin is pouting. Jeongin swallows the saliva building in his throat.
“How come you don’t call me hyung?”
“You’ve always been Minnie to me. We’re practically the same age.”
Seungmin huffs, “Yang Jeongin, you’re getting too damn cocky, aren’t you?”
Jeongin steps closer to him, almost chest to chest. He leans down and whispers, “Am I?”
Seungmin barely blinks.
He shoves at Jeongin’s shoulder, snarking, “Too damn cocky for a dweeb. Where the hell have you been?”
Jeongin sighs on the inside.
He leads Seungmin to the kitchen pantry, and he smiles as he begins to recount, “So the brothers and I went to this mountain…”
Seungmin isn’t that naive. He has an idea, kind of. It’s just hard to imagine.
Like. Yang Jeongin? That Yang Jeongin? Accidentally snorted glue during art class Yang Jeongin? Laughed until he was crying at Patrick Star’s “No, this is Patrick” Yang Jeongin? Yang Jeongin who, pushing two decades of living, is still arguing with Seungmin on why The Spongebob Squarepants Movie (the first one) is an award-winning piece of pop culture?
He’s the one everyone wants?
Lmfaooo, Seungmin had replied back to Hyunjin’s forwarded anonymous post; some stranger online on their university’s freedom wall talking about how Yang Jeongin dick game so good i fcking cried and went stupid and the hundreds of comments thirsting over his best friend or sharing their own encounters, however minute, with him.
It’s just weird, Seungmin muses.
It’s weird because this is Yang Jeongin to Seungmin:
Chubby cheeks and uneven teeth. Tentative looks, watching cartoons with Seungmin, and wondering if he’s too much of a baby for him to spend time with. Yang Jeongin is the bony gifted 12 year old, then the lanky slightly taller high schooler who didn’t take shit, and now, Yang Jeongin is the self-assured young man in really nice clothes. None of the ratty shirts and checkered shorts he used to wear. He goes to school wearing neatly pressed polos, flannels, tasteful oversized hoodies; jeans, sometimes slacks, that accentuate his toned thighs.
Seungmin isn’t blind. His best friend has grown up pretty well, shed the baby fat and straightened the teeth, and now when he smiles, even Seungmin feels a little awed by him.
But he’s still Jeongin, still the same loser who accused him of being a pervert all those years ago.
Maybe that’s the disconnect. For as much as Seungmin recognizes the physical changes, Jeongin still acts pretty much the same. He whines and needles and does gross stuff that Seungmin gags at. He still likes to cuddle; insists on sleeping with Seungmin in the same bed during their sleepovers even when Seungmin protests that Jeongin is too big now.
Jeongin is a bit more social, but he’s never left Seungmin, never made him feel like he was the cringey loser from his past. And as much as Seungmin talks shit to his face about him being a total college cliche, he’s actually grateful that Jeongin is still there, still his best friend.
So he takes that shit personally when people start calling Jeongin the “biggest manwhore on campus”.
“You barely even know him. Who are you to judge him?”
Seungmin stares down the girl in his organization, who is, admittedly, pretty with her pixie cut, artful make-up, and sundress. Seungmin can see why Jeongin might have chosen her.
The girl scoffs. “All you men are garbage. Not surprised a loser like you would stick up for your only friend.”
She grabs her bag and marches out of the org room.
Jisung and Hyunjin whistle. Seungmin glares at them, and they shut up.
Hyunjin sighs, “Sorry to burst your bubble, Seungmin, but I’m pretty sure he’s fucked half the students and professors on campus.”
Seungmin huffs, “That’s stupid. Jeongin would have been bragging to me about it! It’s probably just a couple of bitter exes talking shit and spreading rumors…”
It is not just a couple of bitter ex-fuck buddies talking shit and spreading rumors.
The realization dawns on Seungmin’s face as he picks up Jeongin’s phone, ready to bring it to him, and the screen flashes open and–
I really enjoyed the other night. U fuck me so much better than
Wyd baby i miss ur dick
I wanna ride your cock so ba
When will u let me fck that ass
You up? Im free right now :)
Pls let me suck your dick :(
Jeongin pls call me back
Why wont u text me
Hey u busy
Jeongin pls just one last time
And more.
Then, by the love of god, there’s Jeongin’s texts:
Beg me and i might fuck you :))
Your mouth is only for fucking isnt it
U better be on your knees by the time i get there
[picture of his hand gripping someone’s neck]
Dont u fucking touch yourself unless i tell you to
I’ll fuck that ass until you cant be with anyone else without thinking of me
Cant. hanging out with seungmin.
At that, Seungmin stops snooping and resolves to pretend he did not just peek (scroll) through his best friend’s message previews.
“Jeongin! You have messages!” Seungmin calls out.
From the kitchen, he replies, “Delete all of them!”
And wow, okay, maybe his best friend was kind of an asshole.
Later that night finds them lounging in Seungmin’s living room, The Spongebob Squarepants Movie flashing bright on screen as Spongebob sings that’s he’s ready for a promotion. They’re on the opposite ends of the couch, Seungmin absently munching on the slightly burnt popcorn, and Jeongin mouthing dialogue along to the film and making quips.
In between them lays Jeongin’s phone.
Which has been continuously vibrating and lighting up for the past fifteen minutes.
Jeongin barely spares it a glance as he makes commentary on the movie, talking about the ‘structure of the jokes’ and the satire of Spongebob being the hardest working employee and not getting the promotion–
Nonchalantly, without taking his eyes off the screen, he reaches for his phone, pats around until he feels the power button. He turns it off.
Seungmin can’t help it. “Are you sure you want to be here?”
Jeongin snorts in disbelief. “And miss watching The Spongebob Squarepants Movie just when I’ve finally convinced you it's a cinematic masterpiece? Fuck no."
Seungmin rolls his eyes. “No, dumbass. Aren’t you, like, the campus casanova now or whatever?”
Jeongin snaps his gaze towards him. Seungmin keeps his eyes on the screen and stuffs more popcorn in his mouth. It takes a few seconds before Jeongin explains, “It’s just for fun. Like stress relief.”
Seungmin titters. “What an asshole.”
“Shut up!” Jeongin throws a couch pillow at him.
But after moments of silence punctuated by Spongebob and Patrick slurring their way through the Goofy Goober Song, Seungmin asks, “Really? You don’t like any of them? At all?”
Jeongin heaves a deep sigh. “I don’t.”
Seungmin shrugs. “Okay. Stay safe, and don’t cum inside, I guess.”
“...Do you? Fuck around, I mean.”
Laughingly, Seungmin replies, “You know I’m a virgin. Honestly, I thought you were too until I was informed of your betrayal.”
“Oh. Yeah. Huh.”
A virgin.
Yang Jeongin promised himself he would never treat his most precious hyung like his conquests. Seungmin was different. He was his best friend, the closest one to him. He knew all about him and accepted him for all that he was, dumb braces and Spongebob fixation and all. If Jeongin was going to get Seungmin, he’d be the most romantic, most respectful gentleman the world had ever known.
But two words echo in his mind.
A virgin.
Seungmin is. Completely inexperienced.
Jeongin kind of guessed. Seungmin was an introvert through and through; hardly going out of his dorm to drink, let alone hit a club. He hadn’t wanted to assume, though. It wasn’t a big deal, anyway. He himself didn’t feel the need to tell Seungmin when he had started fucking around, when he realized people looked at him and wanted him. It stroked his ego in all the right places, soothing some of his more personal insecurities of being awkward and unwanted. Jeongin basked in the feeling of being desired, and the rush of the chase and having the power to decide who he would and wouldn’t take to bed.
He didn’t subscribe to the “virginity” bullshit either. It didn’t matter to him whether they had fucked hundreds or a handful. As long as they got on their knees and shut the fuck up when he told them to, Jeongin was pretty satisfied.
But Seungmin.
As the bright images flashed and the animated voices faded off, Jeongin found himself salivating at the thought of Seungmin. How would it feel, how would he look? Would he ask Jeongin, would he beg? If Jeongin offered, would he sputter in embarrassment? Would he refuse or accept?
Jeongin swallows.
Seungmin, with his quiet voice, breaking into whimpers and groans as Jeongin bit and licked his way down from his neck to his torso, to the lower parts of his body. He’d seen Seungmin’s cock in their younger days, when they changed together. Jeongin wondered if it was bigger or if it stayed small. But it didn’t matter. Jeongin would lather his spit all over it. He’d lick Seungmin from base to tip, swallow him down whole, and suck him off like he’d never done for any of his previous partners.
Would Seungmin cover his mouth? Would he try to stay quiet? Would he muffle his moans behind his sleeves, hands shaking as he tried to hold the sounds in. Or would he be unabashed, moaning like a whore, begging for it and drooling; hips bucking into Jeongin’s hot, wet mouth–
Seungmin on his back. Shy and blushing, stuttering as Jeongin scissors him open, slicking him loose for his cock. He’d kiss him, maybe call him hyung, just to see Seungmin flinch; secretly pleased but also embarrassed. He wants to feel the soft, wet heat of his hyung wrapped tight around his cock. He wants to see Seungmin’s eyes roll back, wanna hear him whine and moan and plead, “Innie, please, fuck–”
“OKAY I’m going to the bathroom!”
“...Okay?”
Seungmin looks after Jeongin’s hunched, retreating figure. The bathroom door down the hall slams closed.
Seungmin shakes his head and pauses the movie. “He’s gonna take a huge shit. What a loser.”
(Jeongin shoves his sweats and underwear down; spits at his palm and wraps it around his hard, leaking cock. He starts stroking roughly from the get-go, only slowing down to smear the precum from the angry red tip of his cock all over his dick, to slick it up as he moves his hand. He jacks off, breathing heavily, and biting into the hem of his T-shirt. Muffled whimpers escape his mouth, “Min–, hyung, hm–!”
He pictures it. Seungmin on his knees, Seungmin laid out on Jeongin’s bed, Seungmin on all fours. Seungmin hovering on top of him, crying in pleasure, rocking his oversensitive dick into Jeongin’s ass.
He moans brokenly through the wet patch on his shirt. With one last stroke, he cums into the toilet.)
“Innie, you good?”
Jeongin glares at his traitorous dick that twitches pathetically at the teasing nickname.
“Yeah. Just… Had to take a shit.”
“Hah! Knew it!”
Jeongin buries his face in his hands as he sits on the toilet.
Seungmin doesn’t know this, but Jeongin’s been in love with him since sophomore year of high school.
Or maybe even before then. Maybe he had fallen when Seungmin cuddled with him on the couch and marathoned Spongebob with him until he stopped feeling sad about the glaring, red “C-” on his test paper. Maybe he had fallen on middle school graduation day, when he skipped the lunch party for the honor students and hopped on the back of Seungmin’s bike to catch an anime movie where they were the only kids among an audience of sweaty, middle-aged otakus. Maybe he fell in love when Seungmin smiled at him and admitted, “You’re my best friend, Jeongin.”
He doesn’t know when, exactly. But this is what he’s sure of:
Seungmin, with his cheek smushed against the pillow, his limbs tangled around Jeongin’s. Seungmin sitting across from him in their favorite cafe, eyes bright behind his glasses and braces glinting as he chatters on about the Anime and Manga Enthusiasts’ Circle, the crazy things his professor had said, and the new anime he was anticipating. Seungmin, kneeling down beside a wasted Jeongin, holding his hair back as he vomited into the toilet; all teasing gone in his voice as Seungmin patted his back and comforted him, “You’ll be okay. You’re okay.”
Seungmin.
And maybe Jeongin is a little obsessed, a lot unhinged, because one day he found himself drooling like a Victorian man at the sight of Seungmin’s collarbones peeking out of the shirt Jeongin had lended him, and he concluded: okay I need to get laid.
He needed to fuck out the Seungmin-induced horniness, lest he do something as stupid as blurt his feelings out for his best friend while Seungmin’s playing Love Live v. 15.3 or whatever fucking rhythm game he was obsessed with at the moment. Jeongin does plan on confessing someday, he will! But if he were to have any choice in the matter, he doesn’t want teensy anime girl voices yelling “GAMBATTE” as he bares his heart and soul to his best friend.
So until then, Jeongin would practice. So that god forbid if Seungmin were to need any convincing, Jeongin could have something to show for it. If worse came to worst.
Jeongin is just a man, though. A weak, flawed man who loves being told he has the best cock, that he fucks better than anyone, that he’s so fucking hot, and could Jeongin please give them what they want, one last time, please–
And before he knew it, the stories had spread like wildfire. The freedom wall post, as much as Jeongin appreciated the glowing review of his ‘dick game’, did not help. He had wanted to keep it on the down low because he’s stupid, and it weirdly felt like cheating.
(“He doesn’t even like you,” Changbin cackled.
“You’re not even together!” Jisung, the “Inside Man”, screamed at him.
“He doesn’t talk about me?” Jeongin whined.
Jisung smirked. “My lips are sealed.”)
But Jeongin hasn’t mustered up the courage, it’s not yet quite the right time, so he takes home a guy or a girl or both, he fucks them into a screaming mess on the mattress and imagines it’s Seungmin so he can cum.
(Yes, he can’t cum unless he pictures it’s Seungmin he’s fucking.)
Which brings them to this: Jeongin with dark circles around his eyes, looking like a man on the brink of death, moaning at the first sip of his iced americano.
Seungmin scrunches his nose at him. “I think you have too much sex.”
Jeongin squints. “Whayoumean?” he mutters around the straw.
Seungmin sighs. “I’ve been hearing about it from your brothers. Apparently after you hang out with me, even in the dead of night, you go off to one of your fuck buddies and you come to class straight from their beds. That’s unhealthy, Jeongin.”
“Is the brother perhaps someone called Han Jisung, the nosy douchebag?”
“No, it’s Changbin-hyung.”
Jeongin glares at Seungmin. “How are you guys talking?”
Seungmin shrugs. “We bumped into each other during a big class. Turns out we have a common elective. So we text and stuff.”
Jeongin is, quite literally, about to lose his shit.
Then, to his horror, it gets worse.
“Is he in a relationship? Changbin-hyung is kind of hot…”
“Absofuckinglutely not. Seungmin, seriously?! Changbin?!”
Seungmin frowns. “Why not? He’s super nice too.”
Jeongin can feel his head pounding. The chair scrapes as he pushes it back. Seungmin winces.
“Seungmin, I know him, okay. He’s–he’s fucking lame, and I’m pretty sure he’s fucking our president.”
“I mean, are they together or is it just fucking?”
“What–! Seungmin, it’s not worth getting in the middle of that, trust me!”
They stare at each other. Jeongin opens his mouth, ready to launch into an hours-long tirade on why he should never even think about Seo Changbin in a romantic sense ever until Seungmin bursts into laughter.
“Hyung was right,” Seungmin giggles.
“Wha-what?”
Jeongin blinks. Seungmin only smiles and reaches out across the table to pinch Jeongin’s cheek. He coos, “You’re protective of me aren’t you? You care sooo much about me, don’t you, Innie?”
To his abject horror and humiliation, Jeongin feels the tattletale heat bloom on his cheeks. He shakes his head and snarks, “Shut up, Seungmin.”
Seungmin chuckles. “You know I care about you a lot too. I really think you should ease up on the sex and just find one person to do it with. Maybe you’ll come to like them.”
Jeongin rolls his eyes. “I’m not looking for a relationship.”
“I have friends who ask about you. Want me to set you up with them?”
“No thanks.”
“Do you know Hwang Hyunjin? He’s really pretty, and he’s–”
“Oh hell no.” (Felix would skin him alive.)
“Or do you want a girl? Shin Ryujin from my music composition class says she thinks you’re cute.”
“This isn’t necessary.”
“Jeongin, trust me, if you choose just one person, it’ll make things so much easier for you! And it’s not healthy, you know, to have too many impersonal attachments. You should find someone and stick with them, and who knows, maybe–”
“I don’t want anyone!”
Seungmin looks at him, dumbfounded. “Geez, no need to snap at me. If they’re not to your taste, I can still help! Changbin-hyung told me you guys are having a mixer, maybe there you’ll–”
“Seungmin, for the fucking love of god, YOU’RE the one I want to date, dumbass!”
The cafe goes quiet. Heads turn, discreetly, to stare at them.
“Oh.” Seungmin says.
Jeongin groans and bangs his head on the table.
“You’re shitting me, right…?” Seungmin laughs nervously.
Jeongin is a man on a mission. He trained for this very scenario.
“Hyung, let’s go to your place.”
And Seungmin had heard of it, maybe guiltily, even imagined it on a few boring nights; on the rare times Jeongin went out to party in lieu of staying in with him.
He had read the stories on that dumb freedom wall thread. How Yang Jeongin did it rough and hard, and he didn’t like it when people moaned too loud. How he’d stuff his fingers in and gag you if you couldn’t shut the fuck up, if you weren’t quiet enough for his liking.
He had heard firsthand accounts: some of his classmates and friends gushing about him. How he could hold you up with one arm and fuck up into you, his biceps barely straining from holding up the weight. The way his bangs would stick to his forehead, all sweaty, as he groaned and panted and talked down, calling you his whore.
He was so, so mean. And people loved it. It kept them coming back. Yang Jeongin fucked so dirty and good, one time wasn’t enough. People gagged for it, got addicted. But Jeongin.
He never stayed.
(And there’s one story Seungmin doesn’t know: the first time. Jeongin, tipsy, fucking slow and deep into a stranger, whispering, “Minnie, fuck…”)
So this Jeongin, the one holding him close, plush lips moving tenderly against his, all soft touches and caresses, is a bit unexpected as Seungmin gasps and moans and protests, “I don’t–I’m–I’ve never–”
“I know,” Jeongin licks into his mouth and moves his lips, slow and intense all at once.
“You’re mine, hyung,”
Seungmin whimpers. “I still don’t think this is real.”
Jeongin rolls his eyes.
“Jeongin, seriously, you can tell me now if this is a prank.”
“Oh my god , Seungmin.”
(Jeongin takes his time convincing his hyung. He bites marks and bruises into his skin, from his neck to his shoulders, to his collarbones and all over his chest. Jeongin whispers, “I like you so much,” over and over, almost a prayer.
And Seungmin is everything he’s ever imagined and also nothing like his fantasies: the way he looks dumb, his mouth hanging open in silent pleasure, the flush concentrated in his cheeks and glaring red on the tips of his ears. The heat of his body all spread out, the shy way he tries to cover the slight pudge in his tummy and the broken moan he lets out when Jeongin makes a point of kissing it, leaving a few marks in his wake.
The curses dripping from his lips, the way he can’t quite form Jeongin’s name, overwhelmed and sensitive. And the high pitched whine when Jeongin laps his tongue all over his hyung’s hole, dipping it in and circling it, sucking on it until Seungmin’s back is arching off the bed, and he’s keening, and simultaneously grinding onto Jeongin’s tongue but trying to move away. So Jeongin grasps his hips and he pins him down firmly, eats Seungmin’s ass the way he’s dreamed of since his high school wet dreams.
And when Jeongin wets his fingers with lube, and he pushes one in, slowly, then two, and Seungmin’s eyes roll back when Jeongin rubs his prostate, dead set on making him cum just from this. Jeongin’s fingers are long and thick and they fit just right, scissoring and fucking into Seungmin’s now pliant hole. Deliriously, Seungmin wonders if his hole was made just for Jeongin.
“I thought of you,” Jeongin confessed.
“Every person I’ve ever fucked, I imagined it was you.”
Jeongin fucks his fingers in, pointedly dragging his fingers right on his prostate, and the admission makes the pool of heat simmer in Seungmin’s tummy; broken cries spilling past his lips as his toes curl, and the sensation melts, and his orgasm hits him like a wave: slowly, then all at once.
Jeongin puts his mouth around Seungmin’s cock and he laps up the cum, literally sucking him dry.
Seungmin’s eyes roll back when he meets Jeongin’s gaze, his lips wrapped firmly around Seungmin’s dick.
Seungmin passes out.)
Later, in the light of the morning.
“Are you convinced now, hyung?”
“Shut the fuck up, Jeongin.”
Changbin gets a nasty bruise on his arm from Jeongin’s sucker punch, but he figures that’s a small price to pay for his meddling. Not when his little bro looks so happy and healthy, his arms wrapped around his fondly exasperated boyfriend.
He really wishes Jeongin would stop glaring at him when he tries to talk to Seungmin, though. It scares the living shit out of him.
