The Suez Canal was torn. On the one hand, she'd had a twitter account since 2008. That's how she'd met Panama back in 2010. She'd practiced her French with Rideau in the summer of 2013. She'd fangirled over the Khlong so hard when they'd followed her back that she'd had to log off for almost a week just to recover.
But now Elon Musk owned twitter and the whole place was going down the river at a pace that was altogether shocking for a manmade waterway such as herself. Not that twitter had ever really been "fun" in the broader sense of the word, but the Suez had friends there. She'd built a little community of her peers.
Plus, it helped her keep up with where the EverGiven was so that she could make sure she looked good the next time it entered her port.
Not that she wanted to go down that road again, of course. She was over it. She'd moved on. Totally.
But back to twitter! She'd gotten a verified check so long ago that she couldn't imagine her account without that little blue mark next to the name. But who was Elon kidding with this stunt? If she didn't know better, she'd have to think he was purposefully trying to tank the site for tax purposes or something. She'd never say that out loud, though. Elon was litigious and she wanted no part in a defamation lawsuit.
Still. She did have that checkmark. And everyone was having so much fun with the memes and things. Maybe she could hop on board?
