"They said the end is coming
Everyone's up to something
I find myself running home to your
Sweet nothings..."
*
City noise and streetside harmonies had been an unfamiliar tune for Kyoko to wake up to after she'd first escaped Hope's Peak Academy.
Living the majority of her young life in either of her grandfathers' posh estates, and the rest of her youth at sheltered boarding schools across the country, (when she wasn't traveling abroad for detective work), she was much more accustomed to the quiet of a secluded dawn, and the more subtle chatter of nature when she would stir to meet the day.
Eventually, after some time of living at Future Foundation city headquarters, Kyoko had begun to adapt to the pollution of vehicles and industrial clatter outside her window in the morning. A stark contrast to what she'd always known, but the struggle to adjust did subside after a while.
It had been hard for her to train her body to find a rhythm and fall asleep amidst so much outside movement - feeling as though she were but a small section of thread in a grand tapestry, woven of life in a city that seemed to possess a heartbeat. An introvert lost in a cacophony of stimulating energy.
But just like she always had in any other instance, Kyoko learned.
So now the faint echo of car horns and construction beyond the protection of her brand new high-rise apartment was something of a comfort in her new daily life.
And the sound of her fiancé's breathing behind her, as she lay comfortably on her side in the safety of their shared bed, felt like nothing short of a miraculous thing.
There with him, her lost soul had found its place.
Never had she thought she would be able to share herself with another, the way she somehow so easily did without question when it came to Makoto. But now here he was with her, on a pale grey morning, dozing with his arms snug around her waist and a curl of chestnut hair tickling her neck. Kyoko basked in the feeling, content to stay as they were.
If not for the unwelcome fear that they'd overslept creeping slowly into the back of her mind.
"Makoto..." she murmured, blinking the thickness of sleep from her vision as it threatened to tug her back under the warm covers with it. It took a moment longer before Makoto answered with a lazy hum.
"Mm...mhm?"
"What time is it?" Kyoko asked, though she almost didn't care to know, fastening her lover's grip more firmly around her middle as she settled back against him. Makoto laughed a little under his breath.
"It...'s Sunday, my love. Don't worry. We're good to sleep in."
Kyoko breathed a sigh of relief. (Thank goodness.) She wasn't sure if she could bear to part from his warmth and greet yet another day of grueling schedules and work if it hadn't been their day off.
They'd both left the Future Foundation almost an entire year previously, and had just gotten the New Hope's Peak Academy up and running. But the start of the school year had been brutal at best, and punishing at worst. Neither of them had been able to find much time for themselves, (let alone each other), throughout the week. Not with the dizzying number of responsibilities they each had piled upon their plates.
But on the weekends off from school...when they actually possessed the time and energy needed to tend to one another the way they each deserved, and desired...
Kyoko shivered despite herself, pressing her thighs together. Suddenly flush at the thought that she and Makoto were alone, in bed...after weeks of running ragged with no time at all for more domestic pleasures.
Then came the brazen, shameless realization that she wanted him. Maybe it was the exhaustion. Or the feeling of safety that washed over her whenever she was finally at the center of his world again.
But she wanted him. *Now*.
It made her giddy; waking up to a life she'd never dreamed would manifest quite like this. She was a thriving adult who had cheated death itself more times than she could count, successful in the career she'd trained for all her life and more, in a beautifully stable relationship with the only person she'd ever trusted to the extent that she did him.
Hopelessly in love, to top it all off. Even though they called him 'hope' itself, in an ironic twist of fate.
And fate had landed her where she never thought she'd find herself. In her own bed, in *their* own apartment, in a city they'd helped rebuild with blood sweat and tears. In the arms of the only man she would ever love, for the rest of her days.
Kyoko took the hand he'd been resting on her bare hip in her own, marking the way her scars stood out against the smoothness of his skin, tucking that mental picture into her memory. Craning her neck back just enough to reach, she kissed his sleep-warmed cheek. She saw him smiled as his long lashes fluttered open just a bit. She turned over as sleep-drunk hazel eyes met hers.
"Makoto..." she whispered, gently cupping the cheek she'd just kissed in her hand, breathless as he turned his jaw to press a sleepy kiss to her bare fingers in return, scars and all.
"Yeah?" He answered, beautiful lips parted in question.
Kyoko bit at her own. How to say it? How to ask for what she wanted, even though she'd be daft to doubt that he wanted *her*, just the same?
"...want you."
There was beauty in blunt truth. Or so it was said, anyway.
She made her request in a whispered rush of breath, suddenly feeling shy. Even as she moved to guide him on top of her, electricity running down her spine. She parted her legs for him in silent invitation as he pinned her hips with his knees on instinct, expression frozen in surprise as his drowsy mind slowly began to process what his lover had just asked of him.
(I want you. So much.)
A slow grin turned up the sides of Makoto's mouth before he leaned down and claimed hers, hungrily tasting kiss after almost sugary kiss from her lips, his own energy sweet and steady like honey as he poured out his love over her. Kyoko clung to him - the safest love and reassurance she'd never received, until he'd stumbled into her life. Loving him for being himself, for loving her, for existing as he did.
It was easy to give herself to him. She never had to fear for her own heart's preservation.
All Makoto had ever wanted from her was nothing.
All they ever shared now was everything.
*
She'd felt warm beneath soft blankets and Makoto's protective embrace when she'd first slipped out from under her veil of sleep.
But now...
Kyoko felt hot...*so hot*, so hot she was sweating. The dampened fabric of Makoto's old tee shirt was sticking to her back as his fingers twisted and thrusted inside of her, just the way he knew (from many blissful nights of practice) that she liked it. Diligently, with nothing but a loyal devotion to please his lover, his tongue stroking and suckling the center of her pleasure into his warm, wet mouth...rendering her even more pliant, an even bigger mess...
Makoto let out a low hum as he tasted and lapped up her nectar, the vibrations radiating straight to her core.
She couldn't fight it. She wouldn't last. That was all it took for her to come undone.
Her vision grew hazy and then her eyes slammed shut. Her back left the mattress altogether as she arched up in an almost primal surrender to his steadfast soul, her toes curling into the sheets and her tongue stuck to the roof of her mouth as she practically wept his name.
The fingers that weren't playing between her legs dug firm indents into the soft flesh of her bottom as he gripped and pressed her closer to his mouth, helping her to ride her ferocious orgasm all the way out. He savored the way she tasted, relished in the way her thighs subconsciously clenched around his neck, riding his face as her hips stuttered and rolled on the waves of her intensely pleasured high.
Makoto growled deep in his throat as he properly finished her off, parting from her slick heat with kisses that trailed up, up - up her naval to her bare tummy, possessive hands following his lips as he brushed over her chest. Gentle fingers caressed along the column of her neck before he was home, cupping her face in both hands as he reached her own lips and stole the breath from her lungs altogether again.
Kyoko whimpered into his mouth as she tasted herself on his tongue. Without words he knew, and Makoto laughed into their kiss, even as he gently tapped the edge of jaw before pulling away.
"Taste yourself more?" He offered, his voice husky and lower than it usually was. Kyoko answered by taking his fingers in without second thought.
She shut her eyes as she felt a furious blush color her cheeks, fanning the flames all the way down her love-bitten neck and to the tops of her breasts. She moaned around his digits, somehow both satisfied and frustrated at the same time. She heard him suck in a startled breath as she scraped her teeth along his skin.
"God, Kiri..."
His voice sounded broken. Good. She still wanted him, in the pale light of this morning. They could waste the day away, just like this. The thought was a rebellious one to her nature, but in that moment, it stubbornly excited her. She let his fingers slip from the wetness of her mouth, leaning up to kiss the dimple in his cheek as she whispered the next phase of her plan to him, trying (and failing) to tame her excitement.
"Let me return the favor." She murmured, sliding a hand down the front of his shirt, to the waistband of his sweatpants. She felt him shift in anticipation, despite himself. But before she could get ahead further, he covered the top of her straying hand with his own.
"You don't have to." He reassured, like the good, *good* man that he was. And it made Kyoko all that much more determined.
"But I want to, darling. I owe it to you."
She said it without thinking, her mind and limbs still heavy post-high.
Makoto grabbed her hand without saying anything at first, folding her rough skin into the gentleness of his palm before lifting and pressing her fingers to his lips again. His gaze was sincere as it bore into her soul, speaking his next words with the solemness of prayer.
"You owe me nothing. You know that."
His words settled deep in her chest with a dull ache. She loved him so much, for so many wordless reasons. He would always be enough for her.
"I know." She breathed, before taking him anyway just moments later, fully prepared to leave them both sated and sleepy as they dozed the cloudy day away in their afterglow.
(I know.)
And that's just what they did, afterward. Snoozing in each other's arms while the rest of the world fell away from them. Floating in the peace of their sweet nothing.
Just for a little while.

"Outside they're push and shoving
You're in the kitchen humming
All that you ever wanted from me was
... nothing."
