“Would you still love me if I were a worm?”
He stops, narrowing his eyes as his brain processes the question that she had just asked, with the slightest tilt of his head he watches his wife trying to assess her reasoning for the question.
“I’m sorry? Could you repeat that?
“Would you still-,” her words are interrupted with a hiccup and she lets out a few quiet mumbles before continuing, emphasizing the next few words, “still love me if I were a worm?”
