"Y'know. Steve."
"...no, I don't know Steve."
"Almost everyone knows Steve," Willow comments. "He's just... Steve."
"I know him 'cause he's Matt's older brother," Gus explains.
Hunter hums.
"I often went on missions with him. I've known him for years, he's really nice."
"Steve's pretty cool," Amity nods. "He used to come with Hunter when the Emperor wanted an update on the abomatons and he always got a kick out of Em and Ed's pranks."
"I met him at Lilith's job party."
Everyone turns to Luz for elaboration.
"Job party?" Her mother echos.
"Yeah, Lilith got a new job as a historian a little while ago so we invited her friends to celebrate."
"Miss Lilith has friends?"
Amity sounds genuinely baffled.
Luz pauses, then shrugs.
Honestly, she has no idea.
"I mean... her mother was there too, and Morton. And her weird 'bad girl historian' former mentor."
Camila mouths the words bad girl historian with a look of sheer perplexion across her face.
"She had a mentor?" And the questions continue.
"Yeah, Flora D'splora."
Camila's eyebrow twitches.
"Flora... D'Splora."
"Yes."
"I have... questions about that name."
"Me too, mom. Me too."
The Isles are a wasteland.
Everything had been ripped up and wrecked.
Horrific as it was, it made it much easier to finally spot...
"Steve!"
"Steve?"
"Steve!"
"Hi!" The man yells, waving enthusiastically, his bright yellow Steve shirt a label as to who he was as if they hadn't just yelled it across the waste.
"Oh..." Camila mutters. "Steve..."
Hunter nods sagely, responding seriously with,
"Steve."
