Work Text:
It was twelve 'o five then, the twilight hour as it's best known. Vast darkness cast overhead and there was barely a sliver of the too-little peeking moon behind a seven-story building of a shabby-looking driveway inn. And though it was the exact same place where he decided to spend the night, Wonwoo couldn't help the displeasure he had felt the moment he realized he could see nothing but ominous clouds and the starless night sky from the window of the room he got. He all but groaned as his gaze remained fixated at—eyebrows furrowing the longer he leers at the terrible sight—the so-not aesthetically pleasing view beyond the glass walls of the store he was currently in. It must have startled the stranger occupying the stool beside his. He's frustrated and it frustrates him even more that he can't seem to make himself appear nonchalant about it. He usually isn't like this. His face normally has the same neutral and almost intimidating look across, his eyes sharp and blank at the same time, the gaze from the charcoal orbs always terrifyingly cold.
But he could cut himself some slack, given the fact that the entire day had been all but shitty towards him until the end, even seeming to want an extension in giving him successive bouts of mistreatment. His feelings are valid. His lamentations, too. So when the only saving grace he thought he could have—a simple nice view he could look at before he passes out dead to the world—for the night is cruelly taken from him, who is there to tell him he has no right to feel upset?
He rolls the sleeves of his sweaters up until the fabric bunches up around his elbows then pulls down the dark mask he has on his face next. He might as well just eat so his famishment eases up and he doesn't fall much weaker than what is normal for his condition.
He lifts the cover of the ramen cup in front of him, smoke wisps out of the container along with the spicy beef aroma. The noodles had already turned kinda soggy, he must have spent too much time than necessary mourning the barbarity life seems to hold against him. He sighs, once again, audibly, and the stranger who surprisingly hadn't felt weirded out enough to leave yet, only flinched slightly.
He should stop making a fool out of himself. He will have no one to run to when people in this town suddenly think he has a few loose screws in his brain and should be driven out before he passes the crazy syndrome to its entire population. He's practically a newcomer. Well, he has a cousin, who was the one who practically coerced Wonwoo's parents into making their own son leave the city and stay somewhere with fresh air and lesser pollution, specifically their grandparents' ancestral house. But Jungkook, for the life of him, doesn't even stay in that place. No, the asshole moved out and is currently staying with his boyfriend several houses away. And that annoyed Wonwoo, he wouldn't say he's hurt that his cousin would rather play house than accompany his sick cousin in his indefinite vacation because saying so would earn him a cooing Jungkook and a multitude of “I knew I've always been your favorite. Awe, I missed you too, hyung.”
Nah, he could feel himself shudder just from the thought of it.
Case in point, he's annoyed at his cousin, thus he put Jungkook on mute and deliberately ignored the messages and calls the younger had sent him, still sends him. Which led him to this predicament; getting himself lost in the middle of a town he had only been to when he was barely two years old. He could just call the younger and ask him for a pickup but Wonwoo has too much pride to do that. It's all that he has left, for fuck's sake.
So he found himself a cheap inn for the night before he resumed his search for his grandparents' house the next day. And now he's in a cozy seven-eleven across the road from the building with a cup of overcooked ramen and a can of iced coffee that tastes like muddy water. Screw this town for having no fucking Starbucks.
“You a tourist or something?” Wonwoo almost jumps out of his seat at the voice. Looks like the stranger beside him couldn't hold it in anymore and decided to interrogate the weird man that is him.
“Or something.” he mumbles, shoving noodles into his mouth as he attempts to side-eye the guy who's looking at him.
“Ah. Know someone here then?”
“I don't. I have disowned Jungkook as my cousin ever since he chose his boyfriend over me.” Okay, that came out a little more bitter than he intended. So maybe he's actually hurt, so what? He might not act like the stereotypical Cancer but he is one. I hope Jungkook trips on a condom. Wonwoo was broken out of his vengeful thoughts by a chuckle.
“I was right then. You're the cousin Jungkook has told us about. He actually asked me a favor, or well, me and the rest of our friend group to go on a hunt to find you.”
At that, Wonwoo finally musters up the confidence to meet the stranger's eyes. His chopsticks plopping into the remaining soup of his noodles. What meets his gaze are two slanted pairs of eyes, a cheeky grin and a messy mop of rust-coloured curls.
“Kwon Soonyoung, Jeon Jungkook's friend.”
Wonwoo blatantly shows distaste at the mention of his younger cousin's name and the stranger—No, Soonyoung—expresses amusement again. Training his gaze towards the palm outstretched awaiting for his hand, he inwardly sighs. Nothing could go wrong with a little introduction, right? The mental pep talk worked and he finds himself in a handshake with the redhead.
“Jeon Wonwoo, the shithead's cousin, unfortunately.”
If the coldness he had felt when his hand met the other's doesn't scream a fiery red flag, he'd be making an even more of an utter idiot of himself would he shrug it off.
“Hyung!” arms engulf his torso with a force pulling him into a warm—somehow familiar and he would never admit he missed for it's been a long while since he'd last felt those arms around him—hug. It's been a while since he and Jungkook had seen each other but every time they do, the younger's habitual embrace has never failed to make him feel comforted. As an only child, Jungkook has always been a younger brother to him.
Maybe that's why he got really upset when Jungkook told him he won't be accompanying him on staying in their ancestral house.
“You really shouldn't have done that. I was so worried and I was panicking the entire time I couldn't contact you. I almost called Aunt and told her you ghosted on me!” Jungkook whined all the while squeezing the life out of Wonwoo, pressing his face into the crook of his neck as though seeking for comfort. Wonwoo merely lifts a hand to land awkward pats onto the younger's back.
Upon waking up, Wonwoo was greeted not only by the blinding morning sun but also the downturn of the younger's mouth as Jungkook stood right beside his bed quietly, looking down at him and watching him sleep. He was creeped out, which is a justified reaction, but immediately calmed down when Jungkook's frown deepened. Wonwoo tilted his head to the side and patted a hand at the space beside him.
“You deserved it.”
“You've become meaner.” Wonwoo shrugged off the insult, extricating himself from the younger's embrace and once again laid down the sheets with his arms sprawled widely as he exhaled a breath in total exhaustion. Jungkook's energy depletes him, to be honest.
“You're the one leaving me alone to stay with your boyfriend.” Jungkook groans but lays himself down across Wonwoo's form, his head landing right on top of Wonwoo's abdomen, snuggling against his stomach.
“But hyung, you look really tired. Maybe you should get some more rest.” He is. Not to mention he's still upset because he had to separate himself from his parents. It's not like fresh air would actually cure him, would it? At best, it would just help lessen the occasional pain and constriction in his chest. He would rather spend the rest of his life left with his mom and dad than away from them in a moot attempt to lure whatever miracle there is.
The hole in his heart is growing larger, his doctor said. And they advised that he remained inside the hospital to be watched over by professionals and aided for when things happen. But he refused, he doesn't want to die not being able to enjoy the remaining time he has left. What he didn't count into the equation was for his Dad to tell him that maybe he should leave the city for a while. That Jungkook had talked to them once and mentioned that if Wonwoo were to go back to their hometown, he would be there to help him. And it was enough to get his Mom to agree. They didn't force him, no. But they talked him into it.
Wonwoo still thinks being here wouldn't help. But as a son, he had to do the things he could to not make his parents sad. He couldn't let them find out he had already given up. Thus, he couldn't let Jungkook know either.
“Can you cook breakfast first?” He moves from the bed, disrupting Jungkook's comfortable rest on him, jostling his head earning him a grunt from the younger.
“It's nice to know that you think I've turned into a functional adult all the time I lived independently.”
Well, that doesn't surprise him. They're cousins, after all. “So you're not gonna feed me?” Faux aghast escaped his mouth, he pushed Jungkook's head off completely and got up, staring the younger down in mocking disbelief.
“When I volunteered to help you during your stay here, I didn't mean I would be your babysitter.”
“Nah. Hyung's your responsibility now, Kookie. I'm sick. I'm not allowed to get tired. Look, I'm too exhausted right now because I was outside for too long last night. It's bad for hyung's health, you know that.”
Grumbling indecipherable complaints beneath his breath, Wonwoo gripped against the hem of his cousin's jacket as the latter guided him out of the house and to his car. Jungkook didn't need to ask what he wanted to eat because he knew. So he followed after the younger, fastening the seat belt around himself as Jungkook started the car.
They were nearing a left turn when Wonwoo's phone vibrated indicating there's an incoming call. He sighed because he just knew who it could be.
“Hello, Ma.” he heard a clanging of pots from the other line and he longed for his Mom's cooking. It's barely been a day but Wonwoo already misses the home cooked dishes his Mom always made for him.
“Hi, baby. You didn't call when you arrived there.” his mom was sulking. Wonwoo wanted to tell them he could sulk as well if he wanted but he decided otherwise. He caught Jungkook's glance and a soft smile on the younger's lips which he returned.
“I'm sorry, Ma. I was tired. I literally just woke up right now.”
“That's nice. You should rest as much as you can. Is Kookie with you?”
“He's driving. We're having breakfast outside.”
“Boys, don't make that a habit. Eat healthy, baby. You know what the doctor told you not to eat, right?” Wonwoo grimaces at the reminder. He really misses eating some decent hamburgers and fries and he thought he could sneak some now that he doesn't have his Mom's eyes watching every food that comes close to his mouth.
“Crystal clear, Ma.”
“Have fun there, baby. Always have Kookie on your speed dial and tell him immediately when you feel something is wrong.” His gaze flickered towards his cousin who's now parking at the space beside a modest cafe. The interiors of the place can be seen clearly due to the walls made of glass panels; black and white leather cushioned seats and glass tables filled the area with enough spaces between. The color combination pleased Wonwoo. At least he didn't have to deal with annoying neons and bright pinks.
“Got it. We're at a cafe now, Ma. I'll call you later.”
“Don't forget your meds, son.” It was his Dad this time, bidding him goodbye in the background was his Mom before he hung up. Jungkook raised an eyebrow and motioned for the cafe.
“Yeah, let's go.”
The town was small and everyone knew each other, Wonwoo had been aware of that information even before he got there. But he's only witnessing it firsthand right now; the moment they passed through the entrance of the cafe, heads began turning towards their direction followed by a cacophony of greetings directed to his cousin who returned each along with a mention of names. It was astonishing how everyone seemed to be friends with everyone. It also felt tiring for the recluse Wonwoo. Throughout his university days, he's only had a tight-knit circle consisting of him and five more people.
“Oi, Jeon. Please tell your boyfriend he accidentally stole my new shoes last night and I would like them back. ASAP.” the boy standing behind the counter waved them over, snickering. Jungkook huffed a laugh, receiving the fistbump from the male. Wonwoo didn't comment on the momentary confusion he went through when he heard the surname they share yelled out by the guy.
“I'll let Tae know, Junhui hyung.”
“And he owes me a drink for putting his stinky feet in those shoes.” Wonwoo scanned the beverages flashing against the screen behind the crew, not minding the rest of the conversation between his cousin and his friend, he ignored everything else, even the chime resounding from the entrance. Squinting because even with his prescription glasses, the text size used was too small. And here he thought this cafe was perfect. He's starving as hell and he just wants to get a seat as soon as possible unlike Jungkook who has a different topic of discussion going on with each person that gets his attention.
A seep of coldness grazed his arm, which is a little odd because the cafe has a heater and he's wearing a black oversized windbreaker. It wasn't even cold when they entered the premises. He lifted a hand up to adjust the bucket hat he has on to futilely cover the shell of his ears, fixing the mask over his face in the process.
“Hey, Kim. Where were you last night?” Wonwoo tried to get his cousin's attention by jabbing an elbow to his side but the younger only caught his wrist, eyes remaining fixated towards someone past Wonwoo's shoulder.
“You know where.” Wonwoo jolted at the voice coming from his back. The temperature seemed to lower even more when he felt the person come closer. He caught the movement in his peripheral, how the stranger halted right beside him and leant down, propping his elbows onto the counter, “There had been an altercation between Jimin and a bar owner somewhere outside the town.”
“Where is he?”
“At Seungkwan's. Who's this?” God, Wonwoo, why are you fucking flinching? He let out a discreet sigh when he felt Jungkook latch an arm around his back and pull him close, slightly turning him to the side. And Wonwoo swears he tried, he tried to hide the surprise in his face and he tried not to stare at the person too hard. Keyword: tried.
How composed can he be when the person he had the most mind-blowing sex with in his twenty-three years of existence, the person who had managed to turn him into a trembling mess of moans and tears, the person who wrecked him beyond belief and pleasured him in all possible ways he dared to think no one could, is the same person standing in front of him, donning the same seductive grin across his face that can render him weak in the knees if not for his cousin's body supporting him from behind?
“This is Jeon Wonwoo, my cousin. Hyung, meet Kim Mingyu, my best friend.” Wonwoo held his breath, eyes wary as he watched Mingyu lean closer and stare right through him, almost like he was trying to see past his soul. It's probably the mask and the glasses, hell, he's wearing a bucket hat too and only his eyes and nose are visible. He wonders if Mingyu will remember him by those alone.
A minute passed by then something like recognition flickered in Mingyu's gaze. Wonwoo gulped, nervous. Because Jungkook is right next to him and the crew remains standing by the counter, not even hiding the fact that he's eavesdropping. He taps his forefinger anxiously against the side of his thigh. A smirk forms in Mingyu's lips and Woneoo just knows he's doomed.
“Oh. Hello there, lovely.” the amusement in Mingyu's face reflected in the smoldering eyes trailing over Wonwoo's entirety. It feels so familiar. It was as if it had only been yesterday when he had those midnight irises strip him bare and lay him pliant inside decently strong arms. It felt like they didn't have a whole couple of years of not seeing each other again.
Two years ago.
He got a B in Japanese Literature. He couldn't believe his eyes. His fingers are slowly tightening their grip against the edge of the table where his desktop rests, the results shown in the monitor are unchanging. He squeezed his eyes shut, counted to ten, opened them back up and he screamed. He screamed because the B remained, a stark contrast among the consecutive A's, as though it was mocking him and for countless irrational reasons, he felt cheated.
The door to his room bangs against the wall as it opens and a wide-eyed Minghao flickered his gaze around in panic, halting when his eyes reached Wonwoo's spot and gave him a careful once-over.
“What the hell was that?” Minghao slumped against the wall, an arm outstretched to keep the door open, eyes still trailing Wonwoo's features as if he would collapse to the floor any minute soon.
“I got a B.”
“You're shitting.”
“I got a fucking B!” Wonwoo yelled louder, he raised both hands, creating a squeezing motion with his fists like the threat would make the monitor stop pranking him and show him a different result. Joke's on him, the obnoxious B stayed, unblinking.
“What—” another figure appears by the door, but unlike the first one, the newcomer didn't stop at the entrance and barged right in, hands gripping on Wonwoo's shoulder and attempting to turn the aggravated male around, checking him up for injuries, “Are you having an attack? Minghao hyung, call Seungcheol hyung-”
“Chan, I'm fine. God, get your hands off me, kid.” He shakes his shoulders exaggeratedly earning him a roll of eyes from the boy and an exasperated sigh from Minghao who has already planted himself flat across Wonwoo's bed, “Why are you even here? This is a college dormitory.”
“The idiots are on their way.” Wonwoo looks at his other friend confused, keeping mum as he waits for any of the two to explain. When he didn't get an answer for his unspoken question, he stood up and moved towards Minghao, crossing his arms across his chest and staring the male down.
“On their way to fucking where?”
“Geez, seriously, hyung. That mouth needs a detox.” Chan plops himself beside Minghao, said boy was only looking up at Wonwoo blankly.
“It's Friday. We're going out. Jeonghan hyung threatened me that he'd draw a dick on my windshield if I don't drag you along.”
“And I'm supposed to give a shit because?”
“Because our finals are over and we, especially you, need to breathe.” Wonwoo groaned when a heavy arm landed on his shoulders, squeezing him unnecessarily until his fuse runs out that he jabs an elbow backwards, digging the jutting bone harshly into the stomach behind him.
Hansol snickers as Seokmin groans, going as far as hiding himself behind Jihoon. He looks stupid, Wonwoo thinks and Jihoon looks downright offended, tilting his head so high up to glare at the one-hundred-and-seventy-nine-centimeters -tall guy with a mentality of a kindergartener.
“Come on. Get dressed, hyung. Jisoo hyung said we're leaving in ten.”
“I didn't say I'm going.”
“Lame.”
“Fuck off.” he groaned when he received a pair of unsolicited backpats from both Seokmin and Hansol, the former pouncing onto Jihoon's back for a piggyback while Hansol tailed behind, smacking the taller male's butt. Minghao straightened up and pushed Wonwoo on his shoulders until he's standing before his full-length body mirror beside his closet.
“You know they're not leaving without you so stop making it harder for all of us.”
“Minghao, I just got a fucking B in Japanese Lit, I want to mourn.” His whine met all but a sympathetic smile and two hands cupping his face from behind, moving his head forward.
“Let's talk to Mr. Jang on Monday about it. For now, get ready. Fix yourself. I'll be waiting with them in the living room. And don't forget to bring your meds with you, please. I'm the DD tonight so we can find you a hookup to release all that aggression and stress brewing inside that teeny-tiny thing you call waist.”
“That's rich coming from your twink ass.”
“Whatever. Now, get your ass ready. I'll be out there..” Minghao picks up the wallet and keys he dropped on Wonwoo's bed before stepping out and closing the door, leaving Wonwoo heaving a sigh and pulling out an outfit for the night. Might as well have fun before he faces the process who gave him an unjust mark.
His friends may be annoying most of the time and often drag him to places he didn't want to go to but they mean well. They take care of him despite the strong facade he never lets go of when he's with them. They know about his condition and they never thought of him less because of it so he's grateful. But he wouldn't voice it out loud anytime soon. God knows how they won't let him live when he does.
It didn't take them an hour to arrive at their destination. It seems like a newly-opened bar situated in the outskirts of the city. Wonwoo has never been here before. The wind felt a little preternatural somehow and what causes it, Wonwoo can't figure out. There's an indecipherable energy around. It could just be the stress getting into his head that he's being weird but it's better to be cautious.
“How did you know about this place?” He poked a finger against Jeonghan's side, who's grinning in amusement with Hansol on his other side cackling loudly at Seokmin using Seungcheol as a shield to protect himself from an enraged Jihoon. Jeonghan shook his head fondly at the scene before turning to him.
“Someone from Health Allied mentioned it to me. They say this place is a banger and it sounded really cool so I decided we might as well try.”
“It looks shady.”
“You are shady.”
“You're annoying.”
“I'm annoying?” Wonwoo huffed at the disbelief painted across Jeonghan's face, bumping his shoulder against him as the smaller pouted, “You need to get laid, Won.”
“Unfortunately, no one is deserving enough to take me to bed.”
“That ego should be taken down a notch, too.” Jeonghan nods to himself, tangling his arm with Wonwoo's and dragging the taller inside, eyes never leaving their friends' backs until they're all seated, “Leave it to me. I'll find you someone to pamper you and put up with you being a bratty sub and a pillow princess at once.”
“I am not.”
“A bratty sub or a pillow princess?”
He didn't get to respond to that as Minghao aggressively shoved a glass of beer to his face. The rest have their own drinks now except Seokmin, who had already gravitated towards the dancefloor, gyrating hips with a stranger.
“Seokmin's the one who desperately needs to get laid.”
“He's always getting laid. He's a hormonal bisexual. While you're almost abstinent if not for the fact that I know you're always up for a fuck when it knocks on your door and you don't need to seek for it.”
“Exactly. I don't look for sex, sex comes to me.”
“And it will come tonight, and so will you.”
Minghao's laughter rings loudly on his other side before Wonwoo feels a heavy head dropping onto his shoulder. He looks down at his friend and grimaces at the pink cheeks and droopy eyes that greeted him.
“So our driver's out. Jihoon, please don't drink too much.”
“But I was planning to get wasted.”
“Boys, I'll do it. Let Hao drink. I'll drive you morons home.”
“What would we do without you, babe?” Seungcheol reaches over the table to take Jisoo's hand who swats the former's arm away with an unfiltered disgust on his face.
“Woah, that's homophobia.”
“I'm gay, Seungcheol.”
Wonwoo decided to tune his friends out and look around, taking in the place and the odd vibe that hasn't left his senses since he had entered the place. A gust of wind brushes across his nape and he shivers. He's wearing a plain black shirt underneath a leather jacket but he still felt the cold seep through his bones.
He looked behind, Minghao's head fell to the cushioned seat when Wonwoo turned his upper body around. His friend grunts but that's it, so he pays it no mind and lets his eyes glance around until his gaze meets a pair of steely midnight orbs.
The owner of the pair of eyes didn't look away nor did he even hide the fact that he was staring. It's another surprising thing that Wonwoo's first instinct wasn't to avert his eyes and turn away, ignore the burning stares and pretend to be too cool to be bothered about it throughout the night. He held eye contact. It was like a staring contest and both had felt the need to win against the other.
Wonwoo could still drag it longer, but the stranger decided Wonwoo's lips look better than his eyes. The lowering of the intense gaze made Wonwoo gulp, he felt his throat closing in and heat pools in his gut. He swallowed for the second time and the eyes seemed to follow the movement of his Adam's apple. The act felt sensual, let alone the shameless need those eyes carried, calling for Wonwoo's attention and seeking for acknowledgement.
With shaky legs, he stood up, patting a hand on Jeonghan's shoulder who silently followed the direction of his unfaltering gaze and nodding in comprehension with an encouraging smirk curving up his mouth. His hold around the glass in his hand tightened as his steps accumulated, slowly closing the distance separating him from the beautiful stranger who owns the magnetic gaze alluring Wonwoo.
“Hey.” The stranger looked taller up close. Jagged jawlines, pointed nose with a bewitching mole at the tip that Wonwoo couldn't help but imagine kissing—he hisses at himself—and wet luscious pair of lips coated in a balm. He also possessed tanned skin, a fact which boosted up the attractiveness rating Wonwoo conjured up in his head at the moment. Now, that's a man deserving of bending me in half and pounding into my ass.
“Hello there, lovely.” And the voice sounded like it could make Wonwoo transcend into the celestial world and drop back down into hell. A searing coil churns in his belly and he crosses his legs to subtly hide the semi forming beneath his fitted jeans. The action turned out to be ineffective when the stranger only chuckled lowly, eyes trailing up his entirety. He feels naked already, sweat forms across his forehead when the taller whispers, “Sweet.”
He offers a hand to the man, a trembling one, to help distract himself from the simmering in his senses, muttering quietly, “I'm Jeon Wonwoo. It's my first time here.”
“Kim Mingyu,” Cold. The hand enclosing his own was freezing, almost burning Wonwoo from within. He thought he already has cold hands but this stranger, Mingyu, has probably the coldest and it doesn't seem medically normal,
“I'm a regular. Do you want a tour?”
The offer was tempting, and Wonwoo can't lie to himself and pretend he didn't read the hidden connotation behind the spoken words. What can he say? He's a college student with needs of a man and most of them are carnal, he'll bust if he doesn't get a fix on this raring sexual frustration soon.
“You might have to hold me through it though. I get lost easily.” He's insane. He barely knows Mingyu but he's physically aching to be boned by the man. He didn't come here for a fuck but now, he thinks he doesn't want to go home until he's taken by Mingyu.
“I can't find myself saying no to anything you ask of me, honestly.”
His back meets a freezing concrete wall and he bounces to the air, arms encircling Mingyu's neck as the taller devours every inch of his skin, trailing wet and open-mouthed kisses along his chest and licking across his collarbones. He gasps when Mingyu's lips close around his hardened nipple—the one he had a silver piercing on due to a dare made by Jihoon that one time they played twister and Wonwoo lost—sucking hard on the bud and licks all over the metal ring, it felt so fucking good that he keens and his back arches, fingers tugging on the taller's hair harshly earning him hisses and groans, the sounds taunting the bulging in his tightening jeans. He pushes Mingyu's head harder to his chest and the male swirls his tongue around, nipping on the pulsing bud eagerly, catching the piercing in between his teeth and bites hard enough to leave a mark. Wonwoo grinds himself against Mingyu's front like a starved man, pulling on Mingyu's hair and clashing their mouths together.
Saliva mixes, Mingyu swallows every moan and licks all over the hot cavern proffered to him. Wonwoo diligently lets his lips part, leaving it to the taller to suck on his tongue and claim his soul through his mouth. He slithers a hand downwards, reaching for his back, slipping his fingers into the hem of his jeans and prods into his hole through the thin fabric of his underwear. He wants Mingyu's cock in him. He needs Mingyu's cock breaching into his hole and taking him apart.
“Bed.” he gasps into the taller's mouth, latching his lips to the jaw to suck on the skin as Mingyu planted his hands on his ass and carried him to the bed. His back lands upon the mattress and he moves further, Mingyu's crawling across the bed towards him after undressing himself of his shirt and pants. Wonwoo still has his jeans on and it makes him mad but the sight of Mingyu's bulge, stiff and huge, beneath the expanded black fabric of his boxers, caused an ardent moan to slip past his lips. Seeing the hidden enormity would probably be enough to make him cum and the thought makes his eyes roll back as he pants for air.
“Yeah? You wanna see my cock?” He's so turned on, it's almost embarrassing if not for the equal amount, if not more, of hunger reflecting against the taller's eyes.
“I want your cock in me, Mingyu.” Wandering hands begin to grope his thighs, his jeans are now off after he practically cried out a command for Mingyu to tear the thing off of him. He pants at every touch, cold pads of fingers tracing his skin along with an eager mouth painting marks on him as though he was Mingyu's very own canvas—his to create and his to ruin.
Wonwoo's thighs are now spread apart with Mingyu kneeling in the middle and mouthing along the pale expanse of his navel, consistently avoiding the part where Wonwoo needs him the most. His stomach feels taut, there's a pulsing in Wonwoo's gut reaching the base of his still-caged erection. The ache at the tip of his cock nearly drives him nuts and he wants to reach for it and touch himself but Mingyu seemed to read his mind, trapping both of his wrists in one hand. Mingyu's kisses trail up, halting just in front of the swollen nipple Mingyu had aggravated to hypersensitivity minutes ago. Wonwoo watches as he darts his tongue out, laps on the pierced tip obscenely and Wonwoo howls at the pleasure it sends through his body.
“F-fuck, Mingyu!” Wonwoo had never felt this amazing before. He's shaking and Mingyu hasn't even touched his dick yet. He's being edged so badly and Mingyu had only used his mouth.
“We'll get there, baby.” Fingers slip through the hem of his briefs and Wonwoo sighs in relief. He breathes, unmoving, as his dick greets openness, standing erect against his belly the moment it was freed. He drinks in the way Mingyu's eyes linger on his nakedness, as though he was taking every part of him in. Mingyu sits on his heels, letting go of his hands. Wonwoo spreads his legs wider and squeezes in a pillow underneath his lower back, his fluttering hole now in Mingyu's direct view who stares into the clenching entrance, soundlessly needy for something to fill it up.
Wonwoo wants to be fucked into oblivion. By Mingyu. He wants only Mingyu's cock filling him up, if it isn't obvious yet. He'd beg for it if Mingyu told him to.
“You look so delectable, do you know that? Are you aware that you can drive everyone crazy looking like this? You're fucking with my head, Wonwoo.” Mingyu's hand caresses his thigh and his fingers leave a gentle pinch at the skin close to his perineum.
“God—Mingyu, please.” But his cries remain unheard. Mingyu continues to teasingly prod at the skin surrounding his dick and his asshole that needs attention, edging him through and through until he's quivering and sobbing, hands fisted against the mattress. Mingyu ducked his head down back to his chest, teeth grazing the sensitive flesh and the tip of his tongue poking at the reddened skin beneath the metal. Mingyu obviously has some fixation to his nipple piercing and it satisfied Wonwoo for some egoistic reason that Mingyu's into him as he is to Mingyu.
Finally, Mingyu pours a generous amount of lube in his hands, coating his thick digits and warming them up before the pads circle around his rim of Wonwoo's entrance. The pleasure from the mere touch causes a whiny sound to escape Wonwoo's mouth. He weaves a hand into the dark locks, tugging Mingyu upwards to collide their mouths together. He grinds down to the finger poking into his hole but not entering.
“Fuck, Mingyu, put it in already..” he gasps and Mingyu only smirks in response, adding another finger to tease around his gaping hole. He's cruel. It feels like torture but Wonwoo still finds himself coming closer to his climax. His hole clenched around nothing, “I'm close. What the fuck—Mingyu!” His orgasm leaks as fingers loosely enclose the base of his neglected cock. He feels himself empty out but Mingyu's hand begins pumping and he's a slave to overstimulation, deny as he may. His dick doesn't even soften. He bucks his hips, fucking into the hand gripping him and his teeth catch on Mingyu's lower lip, pulling on the labium hard as he whimpers pathetically.
In a tangle of limbs, Wonwoo found his knees pressed against his chest and his legs propped into the air, hanging over sturdy and backbreaking—literally so—shoulders. His own hands are holding onto the back of his thighs as Mingyu makes an undulating movement, brushing the tip of his turgid length, the head pink and leaking precum that Wonwoo's mouth waters at the sight. Stifled wails and moans stream past his lips each time Mingyu's cock pokes into his hole. And even with the blazing heat simmering between them, the coldness from Mingyu's skin remains unmistakable, causing goosebumps and oddly pleasing shivers wracking through his body. He shakes his ass, desperate and begging for Mingyu to fuck him already. He harshly grabs at the younger's cheeks to claim his mouth into a bruising kiss, hoping it would be enough to get Mingyu to do what he's been pleading for him to.
Their mouths move against each other, the sensual pace gaining crescendo and the hard press of tongue pressing into every corner of his mouth earns a muffled sob from Wonwoo.
Then something stiff positions itself directly to his hole, Mingyu's moving his hips, pressing closer in a slow yet hard motion. Inch by inch, Wonwoo feels his ass tearing apart. He clenches around the formidable cock thrusting into him, “Fuck, yeah. You feel so good.” When the base of Mingyu's cock meets his perky butt, they both let out breathy groans.
“Ah- ah—Mingyu…” Mingyu is huge, that term doesn't even give justice to the massiveness currently filling him up. But Wonwoo takes pride in his nuclear capability to take it all in and still have energy to buck his hips up, fucking himself into the cock taking residence in the warmth of his hole. Mingyu's taking his time too sweetly and he's impatient. He wants to be driven into, to be nailed remorselessly, “You're so big—Ah, Min-Mingyu, hah- I can feel you in my stomach.”
Mingyu begins thrusting, pulling out until only the tip remains, then slams back as he jogs Wonwoo's lower back and the male screams. He kept up with the same move over and over again with Wonwoo's thighs trembling and his eyes shutting in utmost pleasure. Mingyu cups his buttcheeks with his hands, squeezing the meat so hard while fucking into his reddened and abused entrance. He's sure the taller would leave fingerprints on him too and the thought gives him a sliver of delight in his chest.
One particular hard thrust and white clouds Wonwoo's vision. It didn't escape Mingyu's notice that he repeated the same movement, continuously jabbing right into Wonwoo's prostate. Wonwoo drools as he sobs and the pleasure sends tingles along his spine. It felt so delicious that it didn't take him more to release the most intense orgasm he has ever experienced. He shakes and broken sounds accompany his indiscernible whisperings of Mingyu's name. The taller holds him through it, laying his legs down the sheets and rubbing circles against his sides.
When he calms down, Mingyu pulls out of him, drawing another coarse whimper out of Wonwoo's mouth at the sensitivity. He opens his eyes, catching Mingyu already gazing down at him with an unknown glint in his eyes.
Wonwoo looks down at the partition between their bodies, eyes lingering on the hard-on Mingyu's still sporting, clear liquid coating the head and it throbs, twitching at the attention he's giving it. He lowers a hand, Mingyu breathes out an exhale when slender digits encircle the pulsing dick, thumb pressing down into the slit. Mingyu sags against him, burying his head into the crook of his neck and pressing soft kisses along the side of his throat.
“I really wanna suck you off.” It could've been because of the haze taking over Wonwoo's eyes that he caught a flash of red reflect against the taller's irises but it was gone in an instant. His attention immediately shifted towards the darting tongue, licking over a pearly set of teeth, two sharp canines on both sides almost terrifying because they look sharper than earlier.
He shook the thought off, planting his hands over Mingyu's meaty pectorals and pushing the taller to the side until he ended up on his back across the bed and Wonwoo straddled his waist. Wonwoo ducks his head, experimentally licking all over Mingyu's chest with the tip of his tongue, outlining the curves of the generous mounds and grinding his ass down, stimulating the taller's crotch.
Mingyu's hands catch his sides and he finds himself pulled up, mouth on mouth, they devour each other like they can't get enough even though they have already shared a handful of kisses already since they met a while ago. Wonwoo pulls away, he still has a plan to execute after all, as difficult as it may be to part from Mingyu's mouth, the latter hasn't come yet. His dick must be feeling tormented the longer it is being deprived of attention.
He lowers himself, only stopping when his mouth is right above the twitching cock, curved up and rigid against Mingyu's lower stomach, precum leaks from its head. Wonwoo uses one hand to grip the base and slowly guide the length to breach his mouth. He sucks on the tip first, swirling his tongue around the head and dips into the slit. His eyes don't leave Mingyu's face, said male doesn't either. He catches Mingyu's brows furrowing and gasps slip his mouth. He hollows his cheeks, turning his head to the side enough that the tip pokes against his cheek, Mingyu jolts at the warmth and wetness encompassing his cock.
Wonwoo pushes further, his fingers squeezing around the base while his free hand begins to fondle Mingyu's balls, heavy and loaded inside his palm. The length is halfway in his mouth, he breathes through his nose then pushes the entire length in until the head reaches his throat and heat forms at the corners of his eyes. He chokes when it bottoms out but he doesn't pull it off, despite Mingyu's worried eyes raking over his face. He swallows around the head and the action sends a sharp zing to Mingyu's cock, he bumps the back of his head onto the pillow and moans lowly, the sound dragging out he's almost out of breath.
Wonwoo hums at the satisfying reaction and begins sucking on the cock properly. He pulls it off then swallows it whole repetitively. Mingyu whispers for him to slow down but he chokes himself on the massiveness in response, tears streaming down his face, some landing on Mingyu's thighs with how harshly he fucks his own mouth with the taller's cock.
Mingyu has his hands gripping at his hair as he starts bucking his hips up, chasing for his release. Wonwoo's teary-eyes are glowing as they never break eye contact. He looks at Mingyu the same way the taller looks at him, as if lust dominates the atmosphere and they're both slaves to each other's touches.
Wonwoo didn't even notice his flaccid cock hardening once more. Mingyu's soft pants and the murmurs of his name are overly pleasing to his senses. He gyrates his hips, the soft mattress serving their purpose as Wonwoo humps into the surface as Mingyu takes it to himself to thrust into his mouth and fuck his throat deeply.
His hand tightens its hold around one of Mingyu's balls, squeezing in sync with the boob of his head, the cock sinking deep and hard into his mouth and he stops when his lips are enclosed around the base. Mingyu throbs inside and he can feel the pulsing in his throat. Before a drop of cum shoots inside him, though, he is dragged upwards by strong arms and Mingyu aligns their cocks together, his large hand pumping them both at the same time. Wonwoo moans into the taller's mouth, Mingyu nibbles on his tongue before trailing his kisses down his chin, along his throat and stopping at the base of his neck, nuzzling into the skin with the tip of his nose.
Wonwoo doesn't know why he sucked in a breath, as if anticipating for something when he felt Mingyu's sharp teeth graze his pale skin, blunt edges dig into the flesh but not piercing in. He can barely feel a bite. Maybe he was waiting for one, Mingyu's canines have been intriguing him since he first saw them. He wants to see what marks they could create and paint across his skin. But Mingyu won't give it to him. Instead, he lets out a soft sigh when a cold puff of air brushes against his sternum, his collarbones feeling wet licks all over. Sultry sounds then surround them and they tremble against each other when they reach the peak of their bliss almost at the same time, Wonwoo comes a second before Mingyu.
It was mind-blowing. Wonwoo wouldn't be able to forget this night in five years or so, or maybe until he finds someone better, which sounds like a far-fetched fantasy. His past sexual experiences pale in comparison to what Kim Mingyu had done to him.
But Kim Mingyu isn't perfect. Totally not the dreamboat Wonwoo had thought he could be because when he startled awake at three in the morning, he saw no figure sleeping beside him but an empty side of the bed on his left. He checked the shower and the kitchen, even went as far as to call for the tall man's name in case he's somewhere else inside the apartment but his voice only echoed back to him. Kim Mingyu left. As any other one night stand partners Wonwoo had before him, he left too.
“What do I expect from a fucking vampire?”
Present
“Hello there, lovely.” Dick. The first time Wonwoo heard that voice speak of those words to him, he submitted. If he was the Wonwoo two years back, it would have made him succumb to it again, no questions asked. But here's the thing, he's a different Wonwoo now, with a worse health condition and worse temperament. Apparently, he developed a habit of holding grudges now and still feels bitter at the fact that Mingyu had given him one night of frivolous gratification before he vanished—akin to a phantom bliss set to evanesce after providing satiation upon him—and never showed up again.
Kim Mingyu is a dick, and no, Wonwoo wasn't referring to his huge dick because that's not the point, shut up. We get it, Kim Mingyu with his superb skills in bed—almost freaky, which, thinking about it now, makes sense, actually, is a sin he would be willingly committing again and again. It makes sense to be an animal in bed given the fact that Mingyu isn't human. That's one more thing Wonwoo finds irritable about the taller. How he didn't give Wonwoo a chance to take advantage of the vampirism Mingyu possessed during their exceptional frolicking.
A hint would've been highly appreciated. Wonwoo wouldn't even figure the fact out if not for the fragmented details he collected in the back of his mind while they were getting it on; the coldness not only of Mingyu's hands but his entirety, the shifting of his eye color from dark chocolate to radiant scarlet, the inhumane bluntness of his teeth that turned into fangs for a couple of seconds before they retracted back to their normal size—Wonwoo was lucky he didn't miss that, there was also the odd absence of Mingyu's shadow that Wonwoo didn't fail to notice against their reflection from the body mirror positioned adjacent to the bed. The most vital information, however, was the dry orgasm. Mingyu released nothing but air before his cock flopped lightly against his thighs. Makes sense why the man didn't bother with a condom. He doesn't even have semen in his body.
You see, Wonwoo is very well-read. He loved both information-addled books and fictional ones, especially sci-fi and supernatural. It challenges his brain into overdrive with a barrage of information, both useful and not to reality, but he enjoys them. Vampires—although cliché, he had once delved deep into the specific trope due to unyielding curiosity and he's a little embarrassed to admit it but he has a twisted desire to meet a vampire. He's always been aware, acquainted with the reality of their existence and how they're everywhere. Your best friend, your colleague at work, the barista at the coffee shop you frequent, a celebrity you see on television—they exist and they live in the same world, sharing the same space with pitiful oblivious humans. You won't even know you're already talking to one unless you knew a thing about them. Like Wonwoo, who didn't know only a thing but a lot. Wonwoo took it upon himself to learn about their kind. He has always been a greed when it comes to knowledge as he is a foe to ignorance.
And meet, he did, even had that one vampire to take him to bed and to blissful places he'd never been to.
He digresses. Wonwoo's mad at the vampire who had made him into a fool by not sharing very crucial information about himself. And said vampire was looking at him right now with the familiar hubris glinting in his eyes, a knowing smirk across his delicious lips.
“Hello yourself.” The reflexive snark came out of his mouth in a revival attempt to pick him back up before he let the taller's gaze turn him into a puddle. He hears Jungkook let out a confused sound while Mingyu only laughs, amusement lightening up his face.
“Still a haughty beauty, I see.”
“And you're still a pompous bastard. That's so embarrassing.”
Ooh's resounded all over the shop but Wonwoo refrained from paying them mind. He watched intently as Mingyu threw his head back and cackled. He enjoys irritating the fuck out of Wonwoo, that's for sure and Wonwoo's not liking it one bit.
“What? Three orgasms didn't make up for the arrogance you saw in me?”
“What? Hyung—” Jungkook cut in, seemingly not being able to comprehend what had broken out between the two. His confused eyes flickered, equally calculating Wonwoo and Mingyu who didn't bother sparing him a glance. But Wonwoo did open his mouth,
“Shut up, Jungkook. Stay out of this.” What the fuck—
“What the fuck, Kim, what did you do to my hyung—”
“I have only myself to thank for that. I'm pretty sure I had stronger stamina than you. You couldn't even keep up after the second round.” Wonwoo didn't let him finish once more, only raising a taunting eyebrow towards the taller male before him.
“Jesus.” Jungkook muttered in disbelief as everyone else inside the cafe watched the argument with both puzzlement and entertainment.
This Kim Mingyu guy really drives Wonwoo crazy, in all senses of the word and it has become a universal fact to his own world that Mingyu puts him in a reel, leaving him helpless, demanding for more, anything he could get, everything he is allowed to take. But he's not going to show Mingyu that. He's not going down without a fight.
“Damn, you have such pretty eyes.”
“Man, that's pretty gay.”
“He really went from being cool to cheesy in a snap.”
“I can't believe I'm witnessing Kim being torn to shreds by the person he's awfully crushing on.”
So how is Wonwoo supposed to react to that? Is Mingyu playing him and is trying to make him flustered on purpose? He can't just say that and prop his chin in his palm, gazing up at Wonwoo with a soft look in his eyes.
“I miss your face.” Warmth spread in his face, the blush reaching both his neck and ears. Wonwoo could feel it under his mask. His eyes avert as metaphorical fireworks explode in his stomach. He can't do this. Not any longer.
“S-shut up, jerk.” he stutters out. Turning on his heels and dragging a speechless, affronted Jungkook by his arm outside of the cafe and into the car. He demands the younger to start driving and Jungkook does so, without so much as a word.
God, that was embarrassing.
He can't believe Mingyu caused a foreign kind of fluttering in his chest. Disgusting.
Kim Mingyu is the fated sovereign of their coven.
It means he's the future leader of the vampire clan in the town, the heir. And only purebloods can be leaders so the fact also means, Kim Mingyu is one hundred percent a vampire, with no human blood trailing his veins. Wonwoo shouldn't because he's supposed to be mad and because he had declared to himself, with full conviction, that Kim Mingyu is his arch nemesis but what Jungkook just told him, he found it hot. His feelings really do betray his rational thinking at times he needs the latter the most. It's a moment of weakness. A moment. Sure.
It's the only information Wonwoo managed to coerce out of Jungkook's mouth when he asked him about Mingyu. Along with the unwarranted fatal detail—Jungkook's words, not his—that this town is a vampire town. The residents consist of 25% humans and the rest, you know.
Jungkook didn't share him the knowledge as a threat, no, the younger looked too excited to spill it to him, as if he was bragging that he's friends with an entire fucking coven. Jungkook has said that being a vampire in this town isn't a big deal. Humans and vampires co-exist well, friendly and even though the population counts aren't, they see each other as equals. It was a fascinating story that Wonwoo would've wanted his cousin to tell him more about if he isn't still preoccupied by a specific vampire.
At this point, Mingyu is this irksome brainworm, creeping yo every part of his mind, poking at Jeon Wonwoo's pet peeves by being a subject he just couldn't get direct answers to. With Jungkook being cryptically stingy about it.
“I swear to God. He gives all of the information I never asked for but zips his mouth for the ones I actually want answers to.” he grumbles to himself, punching the poor couch pillow he's been using as a stress absorber since they arrived home. Empty boxes of takeout pizza and bottles of water abandoned on the coffee table because Jungkook ran off to fuck knows where after eating and Wonwoo's too lazy and vexed to move away from the comfort of the couch. Besides, he's not allowed to get tired. He's not even allowed to feel stressed out but he doesn't have control over his emotions, does he?
What is it even with Mingyu that puts him out so much, working him up very badly even at the expense of his health? Mingyu's going to be the death of him, take that in whatever context you please.
A ringing from his phone snaps him out of his stupor, he startles and almost dives to the coffee table to lower the volume of the device—Goddammit, Kookie. Messing with my fucking ringtone—before he taps the answer button.
“Hyung!” Jungkook's shrill voice greets his ears and he's another shout away from going batshit mad.
“What.”
“You're so cranky,” Wonwoo could see the younger rolling his eyes in his tone, “Take a shower and dress up. I'll pick you up in an hour.”
“I think I've seen this film before and I didn't like the ending.” Jungkook groans at his response, grumbling a ‘What a fucking Swiftie nerd’. In his defense, Jungkook dragging him to somewhere without even informing him beforehand sounds a lot like that unfateful night when his friends—Ah, he misses those idiots—brought him to the unfateful bar where he met the man who has managed to ruin him for everyone else who had tried getting into his pants after him.
Wonwoo couldn't even enjoy sex anymore. Not when he's always reminded of the best one he's had and the one that never happened again.
“I'm not sacrificing you to a demon. You're not even a virgin.” This time, it was Wonwoo who rolled his eyes.
“I came here to rest and heal, not to party.”
“It's just a bonfire. Stop making a fuss out of it, hyung!”
“Is the dickhead going to be there?” Of course, he has to know. They're mortal enemies, after all. Another mental image of Jungkook rolling his eyes, his eyeballs would pop out of their sockets soon flashed through his mind.
“You liked his dickhead that much?”
“God damn it, Jeon Jungkook.”
“I don't know, hyung. 'Told you he's the Kim clan's future supremo. Him and Taehyung are busy with shit with the council and stuff they can't disclose so I don't know if they can find time to drop by.”
“Your honeybunchsugarplum isn't even going to introduce himself to me?” His voice thinned towards the end, purposefully trying to annoy the younger who let another curse slip out of his mouth in a hushed tone. Wonwoo guffaws.
“Not when you call him that. You know what, I'll hang up now. Just get dressed and wait for me, 'kay. Love you, hyung!”
“Ew.” Wonwoo shakes his body off as if that would eradicate the younger's last words then he sighs, deciding on forcing himself to prepare lest the younger will pull him out of the house in a loose sweatpants and oversized hoodie. No more humiliation is his goal for the rest of his stay here and he's determined to achieve that.
He stomped his way towards his room, crouching beside the large suitcase he hasn't unpacked yet and rummaged through the unfolded clothes to look for a nice outfit. Nice consists of a red low-cut tank top, settled on his shoulders is a fine black leather jacket with silver studs aligning the sleeves while he wears a pair of black jeans on his legs, the fabric ripped on the sides, exposing parts of his pale thighs. To finalize the look, he slips on a pair of Doc Martens.
He looks ravishing. He didn't even need to style his hair but fluffed it up further to make it look messy and hot. He had decided on not wearing his glasses too, putting on contact lenses instead.
When Jungkook arrived, he received a full-on swift examination. The younger one says, “Are you trying to get laid?”
‘If he's there, why not?’ he scolds himself internally. His intrusive thoughts are being too rebellious lately. “I always dress like this. I'm fashionable.” To which the younger only chuckles at, not believing him one bit. The disrespect.
“So where are we going?”
“I told you it's a bonfire.”
“Yeah but where? Is there a beach nearby?”
“At the lakeside, hyung. Can you please just shut up. I'm concentrating.”
“You're just driving.”
“I'm trying not to get us killed.”
“You mean, you're delaying the inevitable.”
“What the fuck.” Oops. Right. His common gruesome thoughts aren't normal for everyone. While his friends from the city have already grown accustomed to his dark humor, his cousin doesn't seem to find it funny, “I'm not gonna let you die. Not on my watch.”
Oh.
Sometimes, Wonwoo tends to forget he's actually already on the verge of dying. That not even a handful of pills or syringe shots can save him and it was just a pathetic cry for help that he's here, for his parents to fool themselves he would miraculously heal, that the hole in his heart will disappear and he'd be completely cured.
But does he actually forget? Or had he just built that certain mechanism to protect himself from constantly feeling depressed because he'd be gone soon and the world won't stop revolving even with him being six feet underneath?
It was a bad joke and he felt bad. He caught the dimming at the back of his cousin's eyes through the rearview mirror. But he's also bad at pointing out his own mistakes—technically, he isn't wrong—so he shut his mouth and left the younger to continue driving in peace.
The remainder of the drive was silent, a faint stiltedness in the air that neither acknowledges, until the car stops at a corner. Wonwoo catches flickering dots of flame from where he's standing, the heels of his shoes digging into the soft sand. Jungkook motions for him to go forward with an outstretched hand, he clings to the arm instead, giving the younger a combination of an apologetic gaze and soft smile. Jungkook exhales a puff of air before returning the gesture and begins taking steps, bringing him along, towards the circle of people gathered around the campfire.
Wonwoo recognizes two familiar faces in the dark when they get close enough. He catches Junhui's eyes, and the boy gives him a small nod. Soonyoung, on the other hand, waves at him with both of his arms flailing around in the air.
“Wonwoo, sit here!'' A few curious glances follow the redhead's eyes and Wonwoo almost cowers from the attention. Jungkook pats his arm comfortingly, pulling him to where Soonyoung sits and whispers at his ears to settle down.
“Hey, you look awesome!” Soonyoung is being unnecessarily loud. It doesn't fit the textbook definition of a vampire; brooding, stoic and intimidating. Soonyoung is smiley and it somehow eases Wonwoo into relaxing.
“Thanks. You.. look good yourself..” Soonyoung pouts at the twitching of his left eye, looking down at himself; the collared shirt with a huge tiger's head printed in front looks disturbing, Wonwoo thinks.
“You're tigerphobic.”
“What does that even—”
“Oh! How was your first day here, by the way?” Wonwoo's getting a whiplash at how Soonyoung's conversational skills work. He's definitely going to be a force to be reckoned with. Oh well, he might as well go along with it. Soonyoung could be the one to provide him answers for his query, anyway. Anyone can, actually. Jungkook's just being a stubborn shithead.
“Uh, it's… uneventful.”
“Is it? Junhui told me about that scene in the cafe and it didn't sound uneventful, rather, it was controversial.” So even vampires like to gossip? Fucking hell.
“Ugh. Please don't remind me.”
“So you really had sex with Mingyu.” It wasn't a question. Soonyoung's eyes are glinting with mischief and now Wonwoo slightly regrets entertaining the redhead, “And apparently, you're too memorable for him that he's been a little elusive from people who wants in on his pants after the night he spent with you.”
What.
“Bullshit.”
“It's not. I know because I'm his best friend.”
“Jungkook is.” Soonyoung cracks up, landing a gentle hit on Wonwoo's shoulder as he composes himself after a few seconds of crumpling in laughter.
“Jungkook isn't a member of the coven.” Soonyoung says, as if that explains everything and the redhead must have seen the worsening confusion across his face, “I mean, I have been Mingyu's best friend since our fledgling days. Childhood friends, basically. I know everything about Mingyu that your cousin doesn't.”
So that's an opening. It would only take a few questions while he pretends to be disinterested and not digging for Mingyu's personal information. He can't look too hungry for answers otherwise Soonyoung would notice his real motive.
“Really? Do you?” He starts, provocation coating the words but it's either Soonyoung didn't notice or he just doesn't care because he simply leans back on his hands planted face down onto the sand and tilts his head sideways.
“You have a nipple piercing.”
“What the hell?” It backfired on him so fast he wished for the ground to just open up and swallow him whole. He ducks his head down in shame. Soonyoung even spoke the words in a deliberately high volume for everyone and their moms to hear. Jungkook turned his head towards their direction.
“I told you he tells me everything.”
“I didn't.” Wonwoo's near to combusting when a new voice cuts in and a pair of hands cup his ears from the back, a total failed attempt in covering them because he still hears Soonyoung clearly.
“He also said that you smell like citrus fruits and you give out-of-this-world head.”
“Soonyoung hyung, please shut up..” Wonwoo listens to Jungkook until he couldn't hear the remainder of what he said anymore for Mingyu had already carried him in a bridal style and brought him to a spot several feet away from the bonfire.
“Do you make it your habit to wank and tell?” He hits Mingyu on the chest and tries not to get distracted by the huge pecs bulging underneath his palm. Mingyu quietly puts him down to the ground and turns him around so his back is facing the huddled group.
“In my defense, I wasn't sober when he asked me about you.”
“How does he even know about me?” Another hit almost landed if not for the taller's hand smoothly catching his, lacing their fingers together in the process, Wonwoo raises an eyebrow at the action but doesn't pull away.
“I kinda mentioned you to him once.”
“Why would you mention me to him at all?”
“Why do you have so many questions?”
“Because I am embarrassed! He talked about my fucking nipples!” Using his free hand, he collided a fist against Mingyu's chest earning him a pained grunt before Mingyu cages it in his other hand as well, “Why are you holding my hands?!”
“Look, I'm sorry about Soonyoung. He's just like that. He enjoys making me suffer.”
“By making me suffer?” He's practically whisper-yelling now, aghast, “Let go of my fucking hands!”
“I'll tell everyone to forget what Soonyoung said.”
“That doesn't mean they suddenly don't know I have a fucking nipple piercing!” The more he attempts to pull his hand, the closer Mingyu pulls him in. He can already feel Mingyu's breath fanning against his forehead and the peppermint scent gives him an unsolicited reel of the memories he had never been able to bury. This guy is unnerving. He also smells really good and it's messing with Wonwoo's logic.
“I can erase it from their memories.”
“The fuck?”
“Stop pulling away, Wonwoo.”
“But why are you holding my hands?!” a hysterical sound escapes his throat, wide eyes keep moving everywhere that's not Mingyu. The taller seemed to take offense to the fact and lightly bumps his forehead against his.
“Can you look at me?”
Can he? Not without imploding, maybe.
He shakes his head in refusal. Mingyu clicks his tongue, moving to use one hand in caging both of his wrists—again, the familiarity of the action stirs a heat within Wonwoo's gut—then uses his freed fingers to cup his chin and tilt his head up.
Wonwoo's eyes involuntarily lands upon the slope of Mingyu's nose and the mole at the tip is too bewitching for him to the point that he barely holds himself back from leaning in and dropping a peck on it. His eyes stutter, shame floods his stomach.
Mingyu didn't mind it though. The taller even took it upon himself to lean in and plant soft kisses on each of the two beauty marks in Wonwoo's chin, one of them a little closer to his mouth. He sucks in a breath. What is happening? Things are happening too fast his brain can't keep up. Mingyu's actions confuses the hell out of him and it's annoying but also… endearing.
His heart is palpitating against his chest wildly he thinks he might be having a cardiac arrest, hopefully not literally. But also maybe this would be the kind of death that he wouldn't mind. Dying in Mingyu's arms and by the warmth of his touch and kisses.
He doesn't understand and he's not even close to figuring it out. Even his own emotions are making a ruckus within him, his nerves tangling and there's a tingle along his spine and to the tips of his fingers.
“Mingyu..” he breathes out. The taller hums softly then proceeds to litter his entire face with small pecks; his cheeks, his nose, his temples, the center of his forehead, the shell of his ears—that one had him shivering causing Mingyu to envelop him in a hug—and onto the crown of his head. It's weird. Mingyu's being awfully soft and.. romantic. It was as if Mingyu is.. in love with him.
Wonwoo's breath hitches. His gaze snaps upward, finding Mingyu's eyes already intently staring at him. Silence encompasses them. Wonwoo watches as orange hues of the blazing fire from a distance reflect the maroon in Mingyu's eyes, following every shadow of the light traveling across the taller's skin. Mingyu is.. enchanting. Too much so. Wonwoo fears he isn't strong enough to keep resisting the captivating entity that is right in front of him.
“You're still as beautiful.” That was foul play. Mingyu doesn't fight fair. Wonwoo wants to throw a tantrum and demand justice right then and there, “Soonyoung didn't lie. I couldn't look at someone else after I saw you.”
“Did you just quote Daylight?” Stupid is what Wonwoo is. He should listen to Jungkook for once and try to reign in his nerdiness. Mingyu's eyes sparkle in amusement and.. fondness. God, Wonwoo has to get over his emotional constipation, “Yeah, sorry. Ignore I said that. Please, continue.”
“You're cute.”
“Great. From beautiful, I am immediately marked down to cute.” Geez, Mingyu's faintly suppressed chuckle reverberated softly, grazing Wonwoo's ears and making him smile.
“You're both. You're everything.”
“That's super gay.”
“For you. But only if you allow me.” Why won't he? Who's stupid enough to reject this guy? Him supposedly. If he was asked five minutes ago, he would have. Things change so fast. So does Wonwoo.
A stifled but warm stillness surrounded them; Wonwoo's gaze unfaltering and Mingyu didn't let go of both of his eyes and his torso. Maybe that's why Wonwoo feels warm despite not wearing his jacket properly and his stomach remaining exposed to the air. He's so close against Mingyu that their chins are almost bumping together, eyes locked and Mingyu's arms are wounded tightly around his form. He had almost forgotten how homey Mingyu's touch felt brushing against his.
His eyes flicker down when Mingyu's tongue darts out and licks across his lower lip. Wonwoo follows the pink tip until the muscle disappears back into the mouth but Mingyu's lips remain parted. As if he was inviting Wonwoo to come closer, lean in, claim them on his own and be reminded of how they tasted. Mingyu's lips shimmered from the saliva he used to coat them, making Wonwoo swallow deeply.
“Wonwoo..” said boy finds himself nodding. His hands gripping onto Mingyu's shirt and tugging on the fabric to make Mingyu lean down. His gaze catches the taller's once more then he opens his mouth,
“Okay..” he exhales, along with the word, something heavy in his chest vanishes, “Only for me, Mingyu.” Then he closes the gap.
The first time he had kissed those lips doesn't even compare to the present. Not when he's experiencing a softer, more tender and more affectionate version of that kiss. It wasn't like before; the bruising, hard press of Mingyu's mouth against his own and the harsh sucking on his tongue, the aggressive licking all over his wet cavern and the starving, lewd devouring until he felt his lips go numb at the lingering sensation.
Mingyu's lips are gentle, mouthing against his lips, the tip of his tongue prodding at the small gap until Wonwoo grants him entrance and he inserts the pink muscle, lightly swirling it inside. Wonwoo breathes through his nose, eyes shut in pure delight and ignores the coiling pressure in his gut because he can't find it in himself to stop the kiss. He doesn't want to. He hasn't had enough of it yet. It's too nice, not too intense but enough so that a downpour of emotions fill his chest to the brim.
Kissing Mingyu feels nice; he wonders how it would feel to be swept off his feet by the man.
A string of saliva remained linked in the space between their mouths when Wonwoo broke apart from the kiss to catch a gasp. The kiss was nowhere physically suffocating but various emotions piled up in his chest that Wonwoo was having a hard time recuperating. He's feeling feverish in a delightful way, if that makes sense. His neck is too hot and his heart picking up inside his chest the longer he's this close to Mingyu—skin to skin, limbs entangled and lips conjoined.
He remembers what his doctor always told him, he can't feel intense emotions, positive they may be, he can't cause a rapid-fire palpitation of his organ. Excitement, unbridled joy, those are just a few and those are exactly what's springing up in the ailed, fragile organ beneath his ribs.
Mingyu is bad for him.
But there's also the fact that he's not even hoping he's not going to die soon anymore, only wanting to enjoy the rest of his remaining days alive. And if he's going to experience the kind of happiness he'd never felt before he breathed his last breath, then he's not about to be stupid depriving himself of that chance.
Panting, he tightens his hands around Mingyu's collar, tugging the taller male down and clashing their mouths on one another. One more, again.. another one until he loses count of how many times their lips mashed together, firm and claiming.
“I might be crazy about you..” He could be hallucinating, but he contentedly leans against the palm cupping his cheek when he hears those words whispered softly, almost inaudible if he isn't close to the man, close enough that the tip of his nose is almost rubbing against Mingyu's. The electrifying buzz vibrating against his spine pleasing him to the core. It's warm.
Mingyu makes him weak in the heart. But Wonwoo should stop romanticizing his heart complications because seriously?
When Jungkook found them, it was just the right timing as he had luckily broken out of the secured embrace of the vampire around him and had already backed a few steps away from the latter. Mingyu silently followed behind them as his cousin dragged him back to the bonfire, handing him a bottled lemonade.
He didn't spare Mingyu another glance despite feeling the ardent, crimson eyes the latter hadn't felt bothered to remove from his visage. Everyone else probably notices the shameless staring but no one was gutsy to call attention to it which he was thankful for. He kept himself glued to Jungkook's side with Junhui on his left who's talking to someone Wonwoo doesn't know the name of.
He doesn't even know more than half of the people around the circle.
He observed his surroundings while purposefully avoiding Mingyu who stood tall across from him, hands in his pockets and his dark locks being swayed by midsummer breeze. Oh right, he's avoiding the man. He averted his eyes quickly, acting as if he didn't just check the guy out.
“Mingyu.” Wonwoo instinctively turned his head at the voice but unlike Jungkook who looked at the direction of where it came from, Wonwoo's gaze went directly to where Mingyu stands. Said male slowly ripped his eyes from his then acknowledged the arrival of a raven-haired male,
“You left early.” He watched as Mingyu simply shrugged. chugging a gulp of root beer from the can in his hand afterwards.
“I finished what I had to do.”
“You didn't. You forgot a file on your desk.”
“Is it urgent?”
“Not really.” Wonwoo's growing more confused at the exchange of words taking place before him but he kept it to himself. Swallowing the words threatening to come out of his lips, “You just seemed distracted the entire day and I'm curious why.”
“I'll do it tomorrow.” The twitching of the stranger's lips didn't escape Wonwoo's eyes when he finally had enough strength to look away from the male who's been the center of his attention lately. However, it may be a mistake that he turned his attention to someone else because he felt a shift in the air, palpable and heavy, as though he was being reprimanded by the wind for his previous action. Was it a superpower? Mingyu's? Nevertheless, it piqued his curiosity more than it intimidated him.
“Tae.” Jungkook calling for the stranger snapped him out of the newly-forming thoughts in his head. His gaze followed his cousin as the latter stood up and spread his arms apart.
“Babe, hi. Sorry, did I come too late? You're not drinking, are you?” The stranger, who turned out to be the beau Jungkook had been hiding, swiftly walked to Jungkook's arms and clung to his cousin in a needy manner. Wonwoo watched the couple warily. Jungkook's boyfriend is obviously a vampire. His cousin is in a relationship with a vampire. It isn't that he doesn't approve of the fact, heck, he just made out with one—a fucking successor of an entire vampire clan, at that—a few minutes ago. It would be highly hypocritical of him to judge what kind of person his cousin fell in love with. But he's surprised, and he wonders why the possibility never even crossed his mind considering Jungkook has been living in a town infested by Dracula's kin.
“I can't drink. I brought Wonwoo hyung with me.” Jungkook broke away from the man's hold then turned to his side to tug against Wonwoo's arm, pulling him up until they're standing side by side, “Tae, this is Wonwoo hyung. Hyung, that's Taehyung, my boyfriend.”
“Hey. Glad to finally meet you.” Taehyung extended a hand and Wonwoo was reluctant. He does not particularly enjoy touching a hand that is presumably as freezing as ice, especially if the owner isn't Mingyu. He can only make an exception for one person. That's the full extent of his limit.
“You're the one Jungkook chose over me.” But his loose mouth wasn't reluctant at all. It moved and spoke out the words perfectly, with Wonwoo being fully conscious of it.
“Hyung, when are you gonna let that go?” Jungkook whined, earning a fond snicker from Taehyung. Wonwoo watched as the latter pulled Jungkook into a hug and planted a kiss against his temple. Okay, maybe he approves.
“Sorry about that. You can stay with us if you want instead.”
“Thanks but no. I have no interest in knowing how loud my baby cousin gets when you're shacking up.”
“God damn it.”
Over the duration of the night, Wonwoo concluded that Taehyung is a nice guy. He has this vibrant personality you wouldn't have expected him to possess because the way Taehyung looks is a complete contradiction against it.
It was nearly eleven when Jungkook asked him if he wanted to go home. And he does. He's actually been feeling a little lethargic for a few minutes now but he tamped it down, afraid of ruining his cousin's fun.
As they reach the car, he is abruptly twisted around by an arm encircling his waist from the back and pulled into a firm chest. The familiar scent reaching his nose and the cold skin, paradoxical to how warm it never failed in making Wonwoo feel, were enough for him to relax against the hold and close his eyes momentarily, savoring the moment.
“I'll see you around?” Mingyu's low voice brushed against the shell of his ear as he let his arms weave around the taller's waist, suddenly brave. He hummed, the sound vibrating through Mingyu's chest where his face was currently buried, “I'll find you. Goodnight, Wonwoo.”
Whatever it was going on between them, he couldn't explain it. But he likes the feeling a lot, “Goodnight, Mingyu.”
The night when Mingyu had first laid eyes upon Jeon Wonwoo, he was beyond enthralled. The human possessed an incredibly luring charm, pulling him in, drawing all of his senses to where the male had been seated for half an hour now. He's with his friends, presumably. Mingyu tuned in to the conversation going on between the humans, his eyes fixated on the one who has been causing him distraction.
“He's always getting laid. He's a hormonal bisexual. While you're almost abstinent if not for the fact that I know you're always up for a fuck when it knocks on your door and you don't need to seek for it.” what the friend beside the subject of his interest said, piquing his interest. His human isn't an easy one, it seems.
“Exactly. I don't look for sex, sex comes to me.”
“And it will come to you tonight, and so will you.”
Oh, he will. And he wouldn't allow anyone that's not himself to do it. But before the human comes, he would have to come to Mingyu first.
Saying that Jeon Wonwoo was something else is an oversimplification. It doesn't even give justice to the extraordinariness that makes up his mere existence. One night with him was not enough, Mingyu would dare say he had found the one he wouldn't mind spending his eternity with. It wasn't just the sex, that was only the icing of the cake. It's Jeon Wonwoo in general—the enigma that he is; the magnetic charm, his quick-wittedness, the way he puffs his cheeks out when he zones out, his voice, the casual snark rolling his tongue and the way he shakes his head, so done and so fond of his friends' antics.
Mingyu's mind can't seem to forget the way Wonwoo's breathing brushed his cheek when they were connected as one, and how his name sounded coming from Wonwoo's mouth, the small—almost easy to miss if he wasn't so fascinated by the male—birthmark on his lower back. Everything about Jeon Wonwoo, the little and most mundane quirks, the theatrical charisma of his presence, Mingyu found every single thing bedazzling, as though he's under an irretrievable spell. And he's not in any way interested in snapping himself out of it.
He had only heard Jungkook mention his cousin in passing, while they were lounging inside the couple's humble flat. The thing is, Jungkook didn't even say a name, just that his cousin was arriving in town in two days and will be living in the Jeon mansion, the place that Jungkook had long abandoned but still kept cleaned and well-maintained through paid cleaners. Mingyu was curious but it was only due to the fact that if it was Jungkook's cousin, then there's a big possibility it's a Jeon too. And aside from Jungkook, he had only met one other significant Jeon.
He was still shocked when it turned out the cousin Jungkook had been talking about was no other than Jeon Wonwoo, the only human who had been capable of getting Mingyu's attention without him even trying. You see, Mingyu had always prided himself with being someone untouchable, unattainable. Someone high above the rest of both the mortal kins and his own kind. But then Jeon Wonwoo showed up, akin to a phantom landing right before him to steal his heart and leave him helpless—swift and smooth.
“You might have to hold me through it though.”
Jeon Wonwoo is a minx, sly and cunning. He knocked off all of Mingyu's walls with just a flick of his finger and left him defenseless.
Boy, does Mingyu wish he can hold the man in his arms again and this time, he's not letting go. He's not letting him slip out of his hands like that again.
Granted, the fault may be his entirely. Leaving the bed in the middle of the night as soon as Wonwoo's breathing had evened out. He doesn't have any defense for that besides the fact that he had mistakenly thought they would never cross paths again. It was supposed to be a one-time thing. And for all of his sung praises towards the human, he wasn't in any way courageous enough to drag an innocent life, one that should be protected all the time, to the wretched world he lives in. He wasn't brave enough to let Wonwoo in his life and expose him to all kinds of danger and vile entities.
Fate is a skilled manipulator, however. And she played them right under her thumb.
So what was Mingyu expected to do when the human who had made him feel… feelings was in front of him, only an arm's length away that it would only take him one step forward to touch him again? He gave in, without so much of a resistance from him. He crouched down, picking up the human into his arms as if he weighed nothing then pulled him out of the crowd. It was unnecessary, the carrying, that is. But he was scared that if he didn't have his arms encompassing the male's figure, he would vanish into thin air and he would suddenly be taken back to a reality where Jeon Wonwoo was only someone he had stumbled upon two years ago, someone from the past.
Then the hand-holding followed. Believe it or not, Mingyu isn't always that impulsive. But with Wonwoo, his instincts just took over his rationale and did what he wanted without an ounce of hesitation whatsoever.
What happened next was the kiss—or well, kisses. You can't blame him, he was still an insatiable being. With all the blood flowing in his body and his vampire senses, he had only longed for one thing for two long years. And it was Jeon Wonwoo.
Kissing the human once again felt the same like the first time and different at the same time. Euphoric, thrilling bliss filled him to the brim. Mingyu had never felt so weak and vulnerable as Wonwoo constantly makes him feel. Those emotions are humane and he's not human, not even close. How is it that he had let himself delve deep into the mysterious human that Wonwoo is?
“I'll see you around?” He ignored the incredulous look Jungkook had given him from where he stands, right beside the driver's side with the car door open. He poured all of his attention to the human he was holding in his chest as he nuzzled his nose to the base of the smaller's neck, sniffing his natural scent and engraving the touch of his hands fisting against the fabric of his shirt.
It felt good knowing that Wonwoo liked his touch as much as Mingyu liked touching him.
“Goodnight, Wonwoo.” Mingyu desperately hopes that he isn't mistaken when he thought Wonwoo had pressed a fleeting kiss against his chest through his shirt.
“Goodnight, Mingyu.”
Vampires don't sleep at night. Some hibernate in the morning because the sun makes them tired and weak but Mingyu had been immune to it for centuries now. The moonstone ring he keeps around his finger serves as his sufficient protection from the heat of the sun.
But when Wonwoo uttered those words to him, he swore he didn't have to force himself to go to bed that night. With Soonyoung's loud voice in the background calling out to him from the kitchen because when they arrived, he went straight up the stairs and to his room and it was really weird, Mingyu, you don't even sleep! He ignored Soonyoung entirely. He laid down on his bed and as soon as his head collided with the pillow, he's out.
“Goodnight? Hyung, are you for real? He's a vampire.” It surprised Wonwoo when Jungkook only opened up the topic to him when they've reached the ancestral house, and the door had closed behind them. Jungkook had gone to the kitchen directly as the words escaped his mouth, Wonwoo tailed along.
“And so is Taehyung.” he gratefully accepted the glass of milk the younger handed him. Jungkook scowled at his response.
“You know that's not the point.”
“What is?”
“Mingyu is.. he's a clan heir. That's a heavy responsibility waiting for him. While you—Hyung, I don't think I want to let him have you just like that. He's my friend, yes. But you're my hyung. Regardless of everything I've been through with him, it will be you over anyone else including him.”
One of the reasons why Wonwoo had never felt lonely being an only child is because he had Jungkook to grow up with. Even up until now that they're already grown-ups, Jungkook had not felt any need for a younger sibling. Jungkook was, is, enough.
“Come on, you're way too ahead of things. We're not even.. together.”
“But there's a possibility?” Jungkook inquired, his gaze not in any way judgemental and instead, it has a certain encouraging glint.
“I mean, would an immortal want to be with someone who already has one foot buried to the ground?” Because let's be real, he's not going to be like his parents fooling themselves. And he's not about to start hoping again just because he had met Mingyu, someone who makes him want to stay alive.
“Hyung..”
“Kook, I'm not suicidal. God, no. But I'm way below the list of the people who are waiting for a heart donation. And there's not many people willing to sacrifice their own life to save a stranger. I have accepted it already. And maybe I'm being unfair to myself, to you, to Mom and Dad and probably to Mingyu as well but is it bad to want a taste of happiness before I disappear for good?” Jungkook's face had fallen completely and there were sparkling tears forming at the corners of his eyes. But Wonwoo won't take back what he had said. It's the reality they keep denying. It's time they try to accept it,
“Mingyu can't be serious about me either. Like you've said, he has bigger things ahead of him. I'm probably just someone that interests him for now. He'd get over it easily when I die.”
“I don't know if you're blind or you're pretending but I can tell he is serious about you.”
“Jungkook.”
“I'm sorry, hyung. It's just really hard to absorb the fact that I might lose you soon and you're going to go willingly. Can't you fight more? I'll be with you 24/7 from now on if you want—”
“Hey, no. Shh.” The younger is already crying so he inhales a breath and toughens himself up. He won't cry, either. He's the older one, “You don't need to do that. I'm still here, yeah?” He pulls the boy to his chest, a shaky breath slipping out of his mouth.
It's hard for him, too, although it's a little hard to believe as he's been consistent in saying he's ready to die every time he's having an internal monologue. His willingness doesn't mean he wants it. He's scared even. But there's nothing else they can do except make the most of the remaining time he has left.
Wonwoo can't explain why despite him feeling awfully sleepy and completely drained out of energy, he remains awake at four in the morning. It's still dark outside; the sun will probably begin its ascent in another hour or so. His mind is fully alert for whatever reason. The pumping in his chest isn't evening out either.
As to why, Wonwoo has a guess.
Contrary to the first day he had spent in this town, an uneventful one, it was, the days that followed totally rivaled one another in giving him successive bouts of unusual events, bringing along an unsought clutter of emotions he doesn't just commonly feel. From the bonfire—the kiss he had shared with Mingyu and everything else that took place before and after the aforesaid occurrence—to the kitchen where Jungkook had a breakdown, it was safe to say that Wonwoo went through a mind-boggling spiral of heavy emotions, one after another.
It was exactly everything that his doctor had strictly told him again and again not to let himself go through because it's not gonna be good for the frail organ beneath his ribs. None of it was even intentional, again, he's not suicidal.
He had anticipated the heartburn before he felt it; a swelling feeling in his chest as if bricks are piling up within and is hindering air from either entering or leaving his esophagus, forming a blockage that prevents the flow of blood throughout his body. His torso begins feeling heavy to the point that he gradually became numb to it.
His medicines are in the pockets of his jacket. There's also a few inside the topmost drawer of his bedside table but they're not close enough for his flailing arms to reach, only his phone is. With terribly weakening hands, sweat forming all over his face and neck as the squeezing around his heart gets worse, he clumsily takes a hold of the device, his thumb pressing on the speed dial button and holding it. Jungkook's panicky voice was almost unheard over the ringing in his ears,
“Keep the call going, please, hyung. Don't pass out yet, please, I'm on my way. Wait for me, Wonwoo hyung, please..” Jungkook continues to call for his name and mutter prayers in between every plea for him to hold out a little longer because he's coming.
Yeah. Jungkook is coming for him. Jungkook will not let him suffer. Just hang on for a few more minutes, Wonwoo. Do not close your eyes. He feels especially bad when he hears a wretched sob from the other line, Jungkook must be suffering right now just as much as him. The least he can do is wait until his cousin arrives.
He taps against his chest, his skin feels extra tenuous that every touch that lands on it, he flinches in pain. It's heavy. Breathing is heavy, it feels as though there's a boulder unrelentingly growing in size on top of his torso, weighing him down. He gasps. Eyes red as tears stream down his face messily.
Admittedly, he had been expecting his death sooner or later. Really. But his childish self didn't wanna die suffering in pain. He would've preferred going quietly. A nightmare, perhaps. A cardiac arrest during his sleep when he's not conscious to feel any pain. But he had run out of luck, it seems. He's doubling over, excruciating agony enveloping him.
He had not bid his farewells yet. Death should really come with a warning, you know? Just to build a somewhat friendly companionship with the person it's taking to the afterlife, Death should announce his arrival like, five minutes prior. If he did, he would've been able to squeeze in numerous phone calls before he crumpled in pain. No wonder Death has so many enemies. He clearly doesn't know how to build friendships, and that's coming from Wonwoo.
A whimper slips past his lips when hands gripped on his shoulders and pulls him up until he lands upon a rock hard chest and inside a swathing embrace. He hears Jungkook's frantic cries, continually calling his name.
“Hyung, we're here. Wonwoo hyung, please open your mouth, please..” A familiar touch of a cold pill presses into his lips and he accepts it, the ache in his chest accumulating tenfold. There's a gentle tapping against his tear-stricken cheeks.
“What do we do? Hyung, please.. Mingyu, what do I do?!” Oh, Mingyu came with Jungkook. How nice of him. At least, Wonwoo could say this counts as him dying in Mingyu's arms, right? Presumably, he's the one Wonwoo's leaning against since Jungkook just helped him take his pill and Wonwoo can still feel the younger's presence in front of him.
“I will donate my heart if I have one.” It was not the appropriate time for such a combination of words to get a laugh out of him but he may be turning delirious now. Jungkook cried out, however. Dumbass, your humor is making my baby brother cry.
“L-let's bring him to the hospital. Come on-” he prevented the younger from speaking more with his sweaty hand enclosing Jungkook which was shaking so badly, “Hyung, we'll take you to the hosp-” He shook his head and even with his eyes tightly closed, he can perfectly visualize Jungkook's devastated face in front of him.
It's time for me to go.
You gotta let me go now.
I'll miss you.
The painful throbbing in his chest thickens, evoking a pained yell out of him. The arms around him clutch tighter, the hand in his trembling worse until he feels his palm pressed against Jungkook's face, rampant flow of tears gliding along his fingers.
This was in some way bittersweet; dying while the people you care about surrounds you. And he doesn't mind going this way.
Goodbye.
His brain shuts down as he lets himself slip.
Mingyu was not aware of Wonwoo's illness, as stupid as that makes him look. Either he wasn't listening properly when Jungkook disclosed the sensitive information to him or Jungkook did not bother telling him at all. Nonetheless, he was oblivious and he remained a fool until that night when Jungkook's phone rang loudly in the middle of the Talk his human friend initiated because quote unquote “My hyung is too precious for me to hand over him to you just like that.”
“You're his Dad now?”
“Don't question me. You're supposed to be groveling at my feet right now.”
Jeons are truly terrifying. Mingyu's the unfortunate one for being tangled up, not only to one, but two of their offsprings. No regrets from him, though. Well, maybe there's some towards his friendship with the younger Jeon.
Anyways, going back to the more important matter, the caller ringtone blared loudly between their elbows propped against the table on each opposing side. He wasn't expecting Jungkook to slam a hand down and pressing hard on the answer button of the device, sheer horror coloring his face, “Hyung? Oh fuck, Wonwoo hyung, I'm coming-” When tears begin flowing out of Jungkook's eyes, Mingyu's expression darkened. He then took it upon himself to drag the younger by the arm and pulled him to his car. Neither of them spoke throughout the ride, Mingyu tuned in to the ongoing call, however, catching heavy breathing and gasps for air from the other line then ruffling of sheets and whimpers slipping out of Wonwoo's mouth.
His knuckles tighten around the steering wheel, foot pressing down on the pedal to accelerate speed, giving no more shit if he breaks numerous road laws.
The second they arrived at the mansion, they both jumped out of the car, slamming the doors open and running inside. Mingyu had even forgotten his key but he could care less. He will put Wonwoo first again and again over everything else.
Their thudding footsteps echoed all over the huge house. Mingyu almost broke the door of Wonwoo's bedroom down because it was locked and they had no time for that delay. When the wood collided against the floor, small splinters catching at their feet that they either didn't notice or purposefully ignored, Mingyu immediately picked Wonwoo's curled up form into his arms. The human was sweating severely, tremors were all over his limbs and he's almost cold to the touch.
He buried Wonwwoo into his embrace tightly, as if he's scared Wonwoo will be taken away from him if he didn't hold him enough. He pressed soft kisses against his head as Jungkook rummaged through the bedside for the medicines.
Mingyu was feeling overly anxious. He can't let Wonwoo go so soon. Not when he just had him again, not when he was just given another chance to have him, for real and for a longer time this time around.
So when Wonwoo's pale hand reaches for Jungkook and the latter wails loudly, shaking his head in forlorn refusal, Mingyu makes up his mind. Wonwoo might hate him for this but he'd rather live with the man's resentment than the knowledge that he had the power to save him but he didn't. He can't live with that. He won't let Wonwoo die, not on his watch and not while the man is in his arms.
He weakly calls out for Jungkook's name as he moves a hand to press his palm over the left side of Wonwoo's chest, the withering pulse reverberating against his hand, “Jungkook, I won't let him go.” Jungkook's eyes turn into saucers after taking a few seconds to process the words, then his gaze flickers from Wonwoo's unconscious form to the hand on his chest to Mingyu's crimson irises shining starkly in the dark with unbridled certitude.
“I'm not asking for your permission,” he continued. Jungkook sniffles quietly, seemingly thinking deeply, “I just want you to know that I'm not going to sit here and watch him die when I have the ability to give him another life.”
Another life. It would be an entire three-sixty degree turn from the life Wonwoo lived, but options are not given to them as luxury. They only have one choice to pick.
Jungkook gasped out a puff of air, wiping his face dry of tears with his hands and nodding towards the taller. Mingyu really did not ask for Jungkook to approve of his decision but it felt nice to know he wasn't the only one unwilling to let go of the man in his hold yet.
Jungkook extends an arm to hold both of Wonwoo's hands as Mingyu maneuvers the man into a better position so his mouth can easily enclose the skin at the base of Wonwoo's neck. He pressed a kiss against the paleness first, Jungkook kept his eyes trained on Wonwoo's neck, then Mingyu closed his eyes, internalizing, summoning his true self. When he opened his eyes again, deep amber replaced the dark coffee orbs. He parted his lips and elongated fangs glinted, the blunt tips unsheathed themselves while his eyes were shifting colors.
He ducked his head down, nosing along the length against the side of Wonwoo's throat and with one more peck planted below his ear, he bared his teeth and pressed his mouth around the spot between the neck and the shoulder.
“Save him, Kim.” At Jungkook's words, he sunk his fangs into the skin, the flesh tearing apart at the intrusion. He sucks in Wonwoo's blood, it's definitely sweeter than he had imagined. He sucks and sucks until the palm he has pressed over Wonwoo's chest no longer feels a beat. Then he emits poison through his fangs, letting the toxin enter Wonwoo's body and follow the trails of his veins.
Mingyu had never turned a human into a vampire before. Wonwoo will be the first. Wonwoo's special. And it's something that Mingyu wouldn't have any other way.
Beep beep beep. Each sound hurt his ears; an ear-splitting sound from a microwave, a sound of a television playing a documentary, numerous footsteps padding across tiled floor and even mixed and uncoordinated breathing of every living human within twenty feet—he can hear everything so clearly. And it's painful. There's an obnoxious ticking against his temples, searing heat at his gut and at the back of his throat and it makes him feel desperately thirsty. His fingers clench as he subconsciously cracks each joint and there's a palpable weight against his chest, something indecipherable, a weight that almost feels like a void. He feels empty and burdened all at once.
His mouth feels dry. His throat feels like sand, coarse and prickly. An arduous sensation trailing his veins, creeping underneath his skin and eating him up from the inside. He's familiar with this feeling, no, this is entirely different. This is worse than hunger, worse than feeling thirsty. It was like he's about a second away from driving himself gung ho over the arduous starvation growing inside him. He needs something liquid to quench the unappeasable thirst scratching all over his mouth, the back of his tongue and the insides of his throat.
He attempts an inhale, nose instinctively sniffing the air, hyper conscious of even the littlest sound his ears are capable of hearing. Even with his eyes closed, he could guess what kind of place he's currently at. Although for a house obviously inhabited by a handful of people by the sounds alone, he can't sense a single heartbeat—not even his own.
Wonwoo shoots up, a hand lands to his chest, feeling up around the left area in frantic motions, he can feel the metaphorical clenching of his ribs, closing up on him but there's nothing at all from the spot where his dysfunctional excuse of a beating organ should be. If nothing has changed, he'd be hyperventilating right now. But Alas, there's none. Not a sign of an organ palpitating inside his chest. He could even hold his breath for a long time, he knows because he's accustomed to gasping for air until his tears have dried up.
He's dead.
Which should be good news. He's been wanting it since his doctor said he's one hospitalization away from dying. He had already accepted his fate then, had given up to being cured, had surrendered himself to death. Because death is inevitable for everyone else, it's just that it has been decided he goes earlier than the rest.
He had stopped giving too much fucks about taking his medications on time or obeying the doctor's orders. He's only keeping up with pretending he's trying to not lose hope in front of his parents. He's not cruel, he wouldn't want his parents' hurt because their son decided they're now just wasting money on his treatment, especially time on waiting for a goddamned heart donor.
He really hoped his current predicament meant he's dead.
But why the fuck can he still feel his body, how in the ever loving fuck can he still touch the fucking blanket around his lower body?
He's not a ghost, that's for sure. He's tangible and he wants to scream so bad. He's about a second away from doing so until he hears the quiet twisting of the doorknob, the wood that bars the outside world from entry opens up and in steps a six-foot tall, sharp-fanged bloodsucker in a royal red coat and cascading dark locks encompassing what unreal attractiveness such face possesses.
If Wonwoo was someone else, he'd be dropping to his knees just by the glorious entity who decided to grace him its presence. But he's not. And fuck Kim Mingyu if he thinks he's going to let this shit go.
“Motherfucker.” his voice raspy, scratching against his throat from lack of use for how many days he doesn't know. Pinning gaze meets his from across his bed and he turns his entire body around, feet landing on the floor as his ass remained perched upon the sheets, “What the fuck did you do to me?”
“You sure have a unique way of saying thanks.”
“Fuck you!” he stands up, walking is a bit of a struggle because his knees are a little weak for some reason. Mingyu's presence doesn't help, there's just something about the vampire standing in the same room with him that's making him feel vulnerable, somewhat safe, like he's right where he should be.
“Been there, done that.”
What a dick. Wonwoo refused to let his mind go back to two years ago when he let this cocky asshole fuck him and get him to push himself into coming three times. It was insane. How Mingyu milked him dry that night and disappeared before the sunrise even showed up, leaving nothing but soiled sheets and Wonwoo wanting more.
Ridiculous.
“You turned me. Asshole.” the trembling in his voice didn't betray the frustration building up inside him. And Mingyu sensed that, and could see it crystal clear. Wonwoo didn't avert his eyes so he caught the moment when Mingyu's grin dissolved. The taller let his gaze drop and his arms cross against his chest, like he's nervous about something.
“I—” Wonwoo's eyebrows furrowed further. Mingyu's hesitation befuddles him a lot. He'd never seen the vampire look this unsure of himself, “I couldn't lose you.”
Tears sprung in his eyes when Mingyu catches his eyes once more, a gaping in his chest hollows further. Vampires are no longer supposed to feel, aren't they? Wonwoo's one of them now, albeit not with his consent, so why is he feeling a certain kind of immense longing in the way the obsidian swirls in Mingyu's eyes seem to tell him a myriad of unspoken words with the gaze alone?
“I don't know what it was about you. I'm still in a constant battle with myself, my rationale has gone wild, you've driven every sense of my being wild. It's crazy because I've been alive for thousands of years, right? And only these past months, two to be exact and that one particular night, had I felt this strongly. It's crazy because both times, you were—are the cause.” Canines bite into plush lips, anxious. Wonwoo forces himself to drag his eyes up as he closes the distance left between the two of them.
“I know you wanted to die. But technically speaking, you're dead now—I know-” he almost cut the younger off but Mingyu reached for his hands, squeezing them in his, “I know it's still wrong. I shouldn't have done that without your permission. But you-” a chuckle slips past his lips, and Wonwoo's pulled closer until Mingyu's forehead is against his.
“You make it so difficult not to want you.” Wonwoo shudders when a cold palm touches the equally freezing skin of his nape.
“Mingyu..”
“It was a selfish decision. I wanted you so bad that I decided to be greedy. Wonwoo, I can't let you go.”
Fucking whatever.
Wonwoo should probably thank the aggrandized capabilities of vampires because it's truly useful for when he wanted to suck the life out of Mingyu through his mouth. With his mouth. His arms are clung around the taller's neck, the tip of his nose almost smashing against Mingyu's own and his feet are embarrassingly on tiptoes. He engulfed Mingyu's bottom lip in between his, nibbling and sucking on it as the pads of his fingers travel the expanse of the taller's nape, trailing upwards until his slender digits weave through the thick and soft locks. He presses closer, tilting his head to the side and licking along the plump muscle then groans when finally, Mingyu responds to the kiss, his mouth enclosing around Wonwoo's top lip and his tongue prodding in a silent plea for entrance. Wonwoo granted the taller access to his mouth all the while his hands clench around the dark strands, hungrily pulling on them. He lets Mingyu devour his tongue, lick around and taste every part of his mouth.
He can't get enough. It's an impossible feat to be done easily because he physically aches at the thought of stopping. So instead, he lowers his arms, his hands blindly search for Mingyu's and when he finds them, he pulls on the limbs, his fingers encircling Mingyu's wrists as he presses the palms flat against his rear. He jumps as soon as Mingyu hoists him up, hands remaining planted on his bottom. His legs enclose Mingyu's hips and he sucks on the taller's tongue earning him a guttural sound from the male.
Mingyu has no idea what he's awakened in him. He did not only turn Wonwoo into a vampire, but he also made a monster out of him. One that desires Mingyu fully to himself, only for him to touch, to taste, to feel. He's made a monster out of Wonwoo that wants to covetingly belong to Mingyu as Mingyu should to him.
“Take me.”
In ways you've always wanted to.
“Fuck me, Mingyu.” His slithering hands leave Mingyu's nape and slips into the hem of his pants, thumb and forefinger working the button undone then unzips it before his naughty hand engulf the taller's enormous cock, growing in size inside his hand as he pumps the length and rubs his thumb across the slit, “Fuck me like you mean it.”
And maybe he's not in love with Mingyu yet but he likes him so much that he's pretty sure he'll get there soon. He's willing not to fall in love with the man, rather to walk into it. Because he's cognizant, he's aware and he's not against it. He will not fall for Mingyu but he will run into his arms voluntarily.
“Jeon Wonwoo, oh my fucking God.”
“Yo, what? Where's Wonwoo?” He nearly cries at the sight of his friends' faces squeezing in to catch a glimpse of him from the phone in Jihoon's hand. He catches Jeonghan telling Chan to get his laptop so they can see him in aa bigger screen.
“What the fuck. Hyung, how are you? Holy shit.” Minghao's bulging eyes trailed over him, or at least until his neckline because he's only showing his face in the video call, “Are you okay?”
Wonwoo truly missed his friends a lot. It's been a month since they had last talked to him. He was successful in evading their attempts to FaceTime because he had to take time in trying to control his fangs and the transitioning of the color of his eyes. He didn't want the first time he showed himself to be as traumatizing as that. Don't get him wrong, he's not planning to hide the fact that he's a turned vampire now but he'd rather do it personally. When he's fully gotten used and in control of being a vampire.
“I'm okay. Do I look sick to you?” Concealing the nervousness, he breathed out a chuckle. He caught Jeonghan behind Seokmin, silent but at the same time looking at Wonwoo with calculating eyes. Jeonghan had always been a keen observant.
“Well, you look healthier but you also look like you didn't sleep last night.” It's because he didn't. He hasn't been sleeping even during the day because his body was having a hard time recuperating, always hungry for blood, and not just normal blood but Mingyu's. Soonyoung says it's because Mingyu and him are linked now after Mingyu turned him. Wonwoo needed further elaboration but there will be a next time for that.
“I overslept, actually.” Jeonghan's eyebrows raised at the blatant lie. Wonwoo was glad that it looked like only Jeonghan noticed.
The others talked consecutively then with Wonwoo responding to the questions directed to him and asking himself what's been up with his friends since he left. Jisoo wanted to go and visit him soon and he responded with a reluctant nod. He only hopes he had already gotten the hang of this vampire thing when they actually visit him.
Seokmin was talking animatedly when the door to his room creaked open, and in stepped Mingyu. In his hands is a box full of fresh blood. The taller only grinned at him and gestured to let him continue talking with his friends before crouching down and putting the contents of the box into the mini fridge Jungkook insisted to put inside his room.
It was precautionary. As a fledgling, Wonwoo's not allowed to go out yet until he'd trained enough not to attack every human he smells and drain them out of their blood. The words made him shiver in terror.
When Mingyu was done, Jihoon was asking Wonwoo about his plans for his studies. He's in his graduating year already along with Jihoon, after all.
“I.. I don't know, Ji. I honestly haven't thought about it yet.” He responded in mild regret. He can continue his degree, of course. But can he take being away from Mingyu for two semesters? Mingyu told him it would only be physically taxing during the first few months after he turned. The following months will be better. But even with that knowledge, Wonwoo refused to part ways with the taller.
“How about homeschooling?” Minghao suggested. The idea is not bad, Wonwoo thinks.
“Hm, I'll let you guys know after I talk about it with Mom and Dad.” He then feels something heavy land on his stomach. He looks down to see Mingyu crawling up a bit and burying his face against his chest, careful enough so that he won't be seen in the camera. Wonwoo holds the phone with one hand then weaves his digits through Mingyu's messy locks.
“Take your time resting, okay? You can always call us whenever.”
“Wonwoo, be safe.” He appreciates every single one of them and it's evident in his eyes when he couldn't even hold back a frown when they finally bid him goodbye.
He immediately covers his face with his hands after dropping the phone to the bedside table. Mingyu notices and in no more than a few seconds, he's already wrapped in a tight embrace and Mingyu's rocking him slightly for comfort. He pats down the tears on his cheeks with the sleeve of his sweater and curls up against Mingyu, sniffling and pressing his face to the taller's neck.
“You will see them soon, baby.”
“Can I really?”
“Of course,” Mingyu plants a soft kiss at the top of his head, “You're getting better. You only need probably two more weeks just to make sure.”
“And they can visit me?”
“Or you can visit them. Either way, you will see them again.” He doesn't mind the taller's suggestion but he doesn't wanna leave him, too. Even just for a day. Maybe he's too clingy, but who's gonna stop him? Definitely not Mingyu.
“Will you come with me?” Mingyu pulls back slightly from the hug, using a finger to tilt his chin up and look him in the eyes.
“I will go with you anywhere as long as you want me.”
“What if I want you forever?”
“Well, you're in luck then. I'm sticking to you like an annoying gum forever.”
“What do you say about meeting my parents then?” Mingyu stiffens at that, eyes widening as Wonwoo cups Mingyu's face in his hands, rubbing the pads of his thumbs across the bunched up apple of his cheeks. He had always been mesmerized with Mingyu's looks, it had been the sole reason he had in the past that was enough for him to approach the taller after all.
His eyes seemed to hold thousands of odes in them and Wonwoo himself could wax a hundred more poems to immortalize the beauty in front of him. He could write songs about his lips and how soft they felt—like clouds of cotton candy. He could create proses to describe the mole against the tip of Mingyu's nose and how cuter and gentler it makes the taller look, and how it is the sole dichotomy in Mingyu's existence; with him looking unapproachable and intimidating on the outside but if you look at the mark on his nose, it was like a sign saying ‘Don't let the face fool you, there's a fluff ball residing inside’
Wonwoo chuckles at the thought, squishing the cheeks with his fingers just because he can, at which, Mingyu yelps in pain.
“Do you want me to meet them?”
“I do. Do you?”
It's almost like they were getting married. They only needed vows and of course, rings. Sigh, they'll get there too. Maybe.
“What are you going to tell them.. if they asked you what I am to you?” A huff of a soft laughter escapes his lips, Mingyu mushes his face into his neck, playfully nipping around the bitemark.
“Well, what are you to me?”
“You should be the one answering that.” the taller grumbled once more, his tone becoming whinier the more Wonwoo teases him and it's cute. He looks so adorable acting childishly while possessing a beefy build.
“Honestly, I thought we've become a couple since that risky make-out session during bonfire night. Did you not?”
He did. Wonwoo just knows that Mingyu did think the same way, too. But it wouldn't be too much of him if he asked for a verbal confirmation, would it? Besides, they need an exact anniversary date, too. Wonwoo is that kind of person who celebrates anniversaries, don't judge.
“I have wanted to call you mine prior to that night.” They shared a laugh, Mingyu leaned against the hands resting on his cheeks and he thought, I belong here.
He backs away a little to position himself and hover above Wonwoo's form, his knees on either side of the smaller's thighs and his elbows caging in Wonwoo's head. He grins, which the smaller returns with a softer curve upon his lips just before Mingyu's mouth lands on them. His head tilting to the side, deepening the kiss and earning a pleased sound from the man below.
