Chapter Text
Magnus sighed heavily as he placed his suitcase on the bed next to the door, not knowing who was going to be his roommate and the fact that he got there first, he felt good.
Magnus never thought that they would accept him to enter Sacred Heart University, a magic school.
Being a shadowhunter didn’t stop him from trying to get into a magic study, he wanted to do it since he was a kid.
Now, Magnus could check on his to-do list that he got accepted, and he could be a magical shadowhunters as well.
The door opened, and Magnus could scent the man as he entered inside.
“You’re an omega,” Magnus exclaimed, seeing the man stopped walking and looked at him.
“Accurate observation, is that what the Clave are teaching you?” the man asked with a snarl.
“You just smell like one,” Magnus replied and added, “I didn’t know that omegas are also allowed to study, that’s all.”
“I’m a warlock, a powerful warlock,” the man notified him, fisting his hand, which Magnus could see an arrow flames covering the hand, “The omegas may learn in every institute they wanted.”
“But if you are a great warlock, what are you doing in the university?” Magnus asked, curious.
Magnus couldn’t let go of the sweet scent of the omega, vanilla and books, he was certain of it.
“I accidentally summoned a herd of demons instead of Raziel and made trouble to my family and they sent here to my callousness - their words, and here I am,” the man responded as he flicked his fingers and moved his things on the other bed.
“Why would you want to summon Raziel?” Magnus asked, curious, watching the omega as he paced in the room.
“You know you can just sit down, my neck is going to hurt if you keep walking and I’m just trying to make a conversation with you, that’s all.” Magnus added, hoped he will ease whatever the warlock has in mind.
The man left his room, and sat in the living room next to the shadowhunter.
“I just wanted to find my soulmate, apparently some of us, the omegas have one, even if it’s rare,” the man explained, noticed the shadowhunter only smiling at him, he continued, “My parents believed that having a soulmate is a curse, and I wanted to ask Raziel to remove the mark from my chest, I’m not worth it.”
“Wait, you have a mark on your chest?” Magnus asked. And then he quickly added, “I have a mark on my chest.”
“What is your name, omega warlock?” Magnus asked when the other man said nothing.
“Alexander Gideon Lightwood, what’s yours, alpha?”
“Magnus Bane,” Magnus replied and watched the omega with scrutiny, wondering if this meant anything.
The silence in the room was overwhelming, Magnus could slice it with his dagger.
“Am I your soulmate, Alexander?” Magnus asked.
“Does it matter? You probably got an omega elsewhere.” Alec mumbled sadly.
“It does matter, Alexander.”
