"I'll take two Coca-Cola's, Orange Cream, and one Ube." Kakyoin read from a list. The vendor opened the yellow and orange striped freezer and placed all of the items on the counter in a brown paper bag. The redhead placed the money in the vendor's hands and walked toward the clothing store across the street.
Kakyoin used one of Hierophant Green's shiny emerald tendrils to open his bottle of Coke through his shirt sleeve.
Jotaro is unexpectedly obsessed with keeping up his appearance despite his usually skulking and standoffish attitude. Kakyoin thought as he sipped away. I wonder if Miss Holly had something to do with that.
Kakyoin noticed Jotaro talking to a younger girl. He smirked, mostly to himself, thinking about a prior conversation they had about dating around the campfire.
"One day, I will find the right woman. She will be my best friend and biggest supporter," Polnareff mentioned as they gazed up at the stars. "It will be love at first sight, of course. We will walk down the streets of Paris together at night, and I will take her to my favorite pâtissière, where I will listen to her talk about her life. Then, at the end of the night, we embrace under a street lamp and share a kiss." he blushes, imagining her warm lips against his. Kakyoin sighed, imagining being a witness to this love exchange.
"That is beautiful, Jean," Abdul marveled. "I'm sure you'll find someone in time." the Egyptian magician shut his eyes, falling asleep soon after. Kakyoin looked over to Jotaro, who was turned away from the lot of them, hat discarded in the sand. The redhead fidgeted with his fingers, consciously feeling his heart beating in his chest.
"What about you, Jotaro?" Kakyoin blurted clumsily, clearing his throat. "Do you see yourself with anyone...romantically?"
"Not really. I can't get a single word in with a woman without them screaming at the top of their lungs or annoying the hell out of me." Jotaro admitted, irritation in his voice. Polnareff chuckled at that. "I doubt I'll ever have an entire conversation with any woman."
"I see," Kakyoin muttered, frowning slightly.
"I don't know, Jotaro. Maybe if you cooled off a bit, you might be lucky enough to find a partner," Joseph grinned to his grandson's embarrassment.
"Yare yare daze..."
Kakyoin's fist tightened around the plastic bag straps in his hand. He exhaled and began walking toward Jotaro and the girl.
As he drew closer, he noticed her outfit. It was a school uniform, though slightly tattered around the skirt. Her subtly pink hair was tied in a high ponytail held together with a green bow. Kakyoin's eyebrows narrowed, his steps becoming shorter. Wait a minute... He stopped behind Jotaro's shoulders. The girl had shockingly purple eyes and two distinct scars running down them. She wore cherry earrings, dark green stockings, and manicured hands. He also saw she had a distinct birthmark on her lower thigh, just above her knee. He dropped the plastic bag, splattering the treats on the concrete.
"Oy, Kakyoin! What are you doing?!" Jotaro nearly shouted. The girl saw him and immediately started freaking out too.
The girl past Jotaro and saw the dazed boy staring at her.
"Wait a minute! How is this possible?" he pointed to her, face burning. Jotaro was talking to...
“Oi, Tenmei! We don’t have time. Now get over here. I need your help with my-” a gorgeous dark-haired woman with intense eyes came out to the scene. She wore a men's black school uniform, wearing a coat around her waist. She wore a dark green tank top that was loose over her chest. Gold chains and buttons extensively decorated parts of her outfit. Her black, long hair melded perfectly with her matted hat. She currently had her hand in one of the pockets. Kakyoin looked at the rather tall girl, who distinctly looked like- “Yare yare dawa...” She approached Jotaro. “Piss off. We aren't solicitors, so leave us alone. I don't want to have to get violent.” She threatened as she looked into his eyes.
Jotaro scoffed. “I ain't interested. We were just here to get clothes. Go bother someone else.” The dark-haired girl glared at him one more time.
“Let’s go, Tenmei.” the girl said as she bumped past Jotaro. Tenmei let out an awkward chuckle. “Sorry about Jouta-san. She can be a bit feisty.” she smiled and followed the dark-haired girl to the other side of the store.
"Jouta?" Jotaro said aloud. The girl ignored him.
"I guess we'll see you guys later?" The two Kakyoins waved at each other. Tenmei kept looking back, lips quivering each time.
“What the hell was that?” Kakyoin allowed his inner panic to be released. Jotaro quizzically looked at Kakyoin.
“I don't know...but we need to find the old man and see what he makes of all of this,” Jotaro said, looking for Joseph's distinct traveler's hat.
“Did you see those girls? They looked...they acted like….” Jotaro stared at Kakyoin’s flabbergasted-ness. “Those girls were us, Jotaro!”
Jotaro kept staring. "I know." Kakyoin face-palmed.
“I just! L-Look at the red-haired girl!” He pointed. “She has the scars, the hair but a bit longer and a lighter red, the cherry earrings, the birthmark on her calf, the way her eyebrows get when she’s nervous, and her smile when she gets embarrassed! And most importantly, her name! Tenmei! Isn't that the SAME NAME I used when we were hunted by Enyaba?” Kakyoin frantically explained.
Jotaro scoffed. “Kakyoin!" he shouted. Kakyoin’s face flushed. "I know this is all confusing, but this could easily be a Stand attack. We need to keep our guard up."
“Shouldn't we at least tell them what's going on?” He grabbed Jotaro’s wrist and walked in the direction the girls went. "What if they die because of us or worse?" Jotaro thought a moment.
"I don't think that's a good idea. We don't know why they are here or if they really are us," Jotaro frowned, concerned. "I don't want you getting hurt again, Kakyoin." Kakyoin sighed, knowing his cheeks were slowly turning red.
"I'm sorry," he looked into the taller student's eyes. "But this is too important for me to leave them alone." he ran inside the store without looking back.
Jotaro sighed, looking for the old man a final time, and walked into the department store.
“What size bra do you need again?” Tenmei asked, holding up a bra with little cherries on it.
“I need a double D…” Jouta said. “Could you not ask it so loud, please?” Tenmei chuckled.
“Yeah, whatever, Jouta.” She put the cherry bra down. “What happened to make it snap like that?” Tenmei asked.
Jouta sighed. “It’s none of your goddamn business.” Tenmei smiled.
“It got snagged, didn’t it?” she said with an evil voice. "Hol Horse practically pissed himself jumping on you during that fight with Enayaba."
“I will punch you, you know?” Jouta darkly said, her aura growing rather menacing.
Tenmei giggled and stuck out her tongue. “Polnareff told me before we came in here.” she laughed.
“Good grief, she’ll be the end of me,” Jouta expressed.
“Yeah...but she’s one tough customer. Even after everything she’s been through, she keeps going.” Tenmei smiled back at her friend. She handed Jouta a sports bra with a cyan dolphin on one of its sides. "Jouta, that boy from earlier...there's something weird going on."
"What do you mean?" Jouta wrestled with her tank top behind the door.
"I couldn't help but notice how similar we looked to each other," Kakyoin leaned against the dressing room door.
Jouta smiled beneath her hat. "Don't tell me you're falling for that guy?"
"Not the biker-looking dude...the other one. He was gentler, though a bit startled for some reason." Tenmei looked up at the ceiling fans. "He felt oddly familiar."
"If it turns out they are enemy stand users, you're sharing a room with Polnareff this time. The woman loses hair like a bitch from all that product in her hair." Jouta finishes, opening the door to the mirror on the right of the stall. Kakyoin watched her adjust her long hair to fit beneath the hat and turned to her side to see how the bra fit. She smiled at the small dolphin.
"That looks good on you, Jouta," Tenmei blurted. Jouta quirked her brow. "I-I mean, it j-just suits your body and stuff. Hehehe..."
"Thanks," Jouta muttered, lowering her hat and throwing her coat over her shoulder. "We ought to catch up with nana. She's one to wander into trouble with tourist traps."
Jotaro and Kakyoin stood there in silence, donning 'department store disguises' (sunglasses, a scarf, and a random feather hat), after eavesdropping on their conversation.
“Shit,” Jotaro muttered. "There's also a female Polnareff and gramps." his breathe halted a moment. "Does that mean there's also another Dio running around?"
“I have no idea. We should go and find Mr. Joestar as soon as possible.” Kakyoin replied, quickly pulling off his feather hat.
“Yeah…” Jotaro looked away. “We need to be prepared for any-"
“Well, well, well." a snooty French scoff came from behind them. "Hiding in the bra section, are you? Like a bunch of peeping Toms.” The boys looked up and saw Polnareff staring at them with a sly look in his eyes. They climbed from their hiding spots, still trying to avoid detection. Jotaro lowered his hat.
“Polnareff, I don’t know how to tell you this, but those girls over there are us,” Kakyoin explained. After a moment, he started giggling. The others stared at him until he calmed himself enough to speak. “And apparently, Jotaro has double D breasts.” Kakyoin evilly said.
“Do you want me to hurt you?” Jotaro grabbed his collar, Star Platinum's purple and gold fist appearing beside him. Polnareff snorted, joining in his laughter.
“I don’t know what you guys are talking about. I think you guys just found some nice-looking ladies and aren’t willing to share.” Polnareff accused, shaking his head. "I thought I raised you better than this, Kakyoin." he placed the back of his hand against his forehead.
Kakyoin facepalmed.“Just...take a look for yourself.” Kakyoin motioned Pol toward the ladies.
Polnareff approached the ladies pretending to look around for his cousin. He began to eavesdrop on their conversation.
“Polnareff styled her hair a bit differently, right?” Tenmei said as she began looking at the cherry bra again. "Kinda similar to Hol Horse's?"
“Yeah. She made herself look like Bonnie Tyler or Joan Jett.” Jouta said as she looked at the belts on the rack.
“I don’t know who either of them is, but I’m sure they look pretty.” Tenmei sighed. “My dumb hair can’t do anything besides curl. But Polnareff sure knows how to do hair.”
Polnareff blushed at this. Do these ladies like my hair? A smile curled his face. Here’s my chance!
“Bonjour mademoiselle! I was having trouble finding my cousin, and I couldn’t help but overhear your conversation!” Polnareff stroked his hair, trying to show it off. “I can’t help but tell you, you are wrong.”
The ladies look at him, confused.
"What are you talking about, sir?" Tenmei asked, gritting her teeth.
“How dumb your hair is.” He grabbed her hand. “I think in the light, it shines like rubies an adventurer finds after a long excavation. My dear, your hair is beautiful.” Polnareff puts on a warm smile and kisses her hand gingerly. Tenmei smiled back at the Frenchman. She’s so cute… Polnareff thinks.
"Oh my..." Tenmei blushed, gushing at the gesture. "A French gentleman complimented me in the bra section. Whatever shall I do?" Jouta smirked beneath her hat, turning back to the belts. " Well, I’ve got news for you, buster!” Suddenly, a shiny, green tentacle wraps around his body, suffocating him. “I’m not a prize to be won!” He flew to the other side of the store. Tenmei scoffed, moving to the other side of the store, Jouta following suit.
What. The. Hell.
Kakyoin and Jotaro stand there in silence. They look at each other, trying to read the other’s mind. They both nod and decide to speak to the girls.
“We need to talk to you, ladies. Right now.” Kakyoin said.
“Oh, it's you guys again. Hello!” Tenmei waves at the boys. Jouta stood there with a menacing death glare on her face.
“I thought I told you to piss off,” Jouta sneered to Jotaro. "And let me guess; you had your stupid friend come up to harass us too?"
"Woah! It's not like that at all!" Noriaki waved his hands to try to simmer the girls down. "Look, you guys...are us. But we're different genders."
Jouta's eyes narrowed. "What the fuck is that supposed to mean, guy?"
“There are more important things going on right now. Now shut up and listen.” Jotaro growled. The girls went quiet. "This is not a fucking joke. If you hadn't interrupted us earlier, you might have picked up on the fact that Tenmei and Noriaki are strikingly similar." Jouta looked between the two, head shaking in disbelief.
“I don’t know how this is possible, but you girls are us,” Kakyoin said. "We don't know how this is possible, but given who we are, it's not exactly impossible." The girls looked at each other, confused.
“What do you mean?” Jouta said.
“You summoned Hierophant Green just now, didn’t you?” Kakyoin looked to Tenmei. "You threw Polnareff into the wall with it." Tenmei's heart started pounding loudly in her chest. She was frozen, and her breath wavered. Jouta grimaced, reaching out for anything. As her hand reached a Brannock, she threw it as hard as she could at Jotaro. Jotaro dodged that and every other thing she could think of as he drew nearer to them.
“Run for cover, Tenmei! They’re enemy Stand users!” She threw off her hat and clapped her hands together. The sound of glass permeated the room, and bright yellow sparks flickered from her hands.
“STAR PLATINUM!” a dark blue warrior came from her shadow. It was dark blue, reminding Jotaro of colored drawings of djin he'd seen from Joseph's books he brought from India. It wore a robe over its body, synched around the waist with a bronze and leather belt. Its hair was lengthy and in the light, Jotaro saw spinning galaxies across each strand. As it manifested itself more, armor over her chest, forearms, and loins appeared, all with a similar belt as the one around her waist.
“Good grief…” Jotaro said as he summoned Star Platinum. His own stand was eerily similar to hers, but the only armor Star had on was a loin cloth, boots, gloves, and a scarf around its neck.
Jouta was caught off guard. She stared at his stand. Both the Star Platinums appeared to look at each other. Almost like barbarians mutually ready for war. They reached out to each other, seemingly fascinated by each other. Jotaro's Star Platinum even smiled at hers.
“Who are you?” Tenmei asked as she summoned Hierophant Green again. Kakyoin noticed that her stand was a lighter shade of green than his, similar to jade. On top of that, it had silver hair coming from the top of its head in a high ponytail. It chirped eagerly at him, begging him to reveal his spirit too.
Kakyoin chuckled. “My name is Kakyoin Noriaki. I am from Japan. My stand is Hierophant Green.” He summoned his stand. Tenmei’s eyes sparkled. His stand looked like it was shaking an invisible tail like a golden retriever puppy. The two jumped for joy and embraced like they were brother and sister.
“He looks pretty,” she said. Her Hierophant approached him and patted him on the head. Kakyoin blushed. “My name is Kakyoin Tenmei, after my dad's sister.” The two exchanged smiles and shook hands. Then they looked over at the Jotaros. Jotaro sighed.
“Kujo Jotaro. My stand is Star Platinum.” he held out his hand.
“Kujo Jouta. Ditto.” they shook hands.
“And I’m...Polnareff.” a weak voice said behind them. Polnareff was embedded in the walls and bleeding from his mouth. Tenmei approached him.
“Sorry about that. I just had a really horrible experience with the last guy we met. I didn’t want to take any chances. I may have gone overboard.” Tenmei apologized while pulling him out of the wall.
Polnareff spat out blood. “You think?” He looked up as she gave him a hand.
“OH MY GOD! WHAT HAPPENED?!” an old woman’s voice rang through the store. Jotaro's eyes shot up.
Jotaro saw her run up to Tenmei and Jouta, examining each for cuts and bruises. “Are you okay? Did you girls get hurt?” she felt Jouta’s forehead. "You don't feel woozy, do you, sweetie?" Jouta fanned her hand away from her face.
“No, Mrs. Joestar. We’re fine. But we need to talk to the whole group about this, though.” Tenmei pointed with her eyes where the doubles were. The old woman turned around.
She was wearing a form-fitting belted khaki-colored skirt and overcoat. Under the coat, she wore a white button-up and a malachite pin with a white pair of gloves. Her hair was carefully combed and styled into a bun beneath a khaki fedora. Jotaro's heart stopped when he could see a glimpse metal prosthetic on her left arm. Her eyes had an intensity about them, like her age didn’t matter.
"And who might you be?" she sweetly asked. "Certainly you aren't-" Hermit Purple's viney, spiked tentacles popped from her hand. "Harassing my granddaughter and her friends, right?" Jotaro lowered his hat, sighing all the while.
"No! Never!" Noriaki gasped. "We were--!"
“Old lady, they’re us. But they are boys. They have the same stands and power as us.” Jouta explained. Josephine quirked her brow.
“Wait, what?” Josephine made a face.
“Good grief…” Jotaro took off his jacket and pulled down the left strap of his tank top, revealing the star-shaped birthmark. “This proof enough, old lady?”
Josephina laughed and muttered to herself, “Next you’ll say is, ‘I aint got time for this shit, woman.’ Now you.”
“I aint got time for this shit, woman,” Jotaro said synchronously. He lowered his hat. “Man, you do that crap even when you’re a woman. You're so god damned annoying; you know that?”
“Hahaha," she clapped her hands together. "Yep! That's my grandson, alright!"
