Jojo’s Bizarre Trip to Italy

Summary:

After Granny Erina’s countless pleas for Joseph to go to college, he finally gives in and decides he wants to travel abroad. Granny Erina insists for him to study in Venice. Speedwagon sets Joseph up with his own personal translator

(Essentially this is a College au where Joseph is a foreign exchange student and falls in love with his translator hehe) please excuse any grammatical mistakes and poor translations of Italian Lmao. Hope you all enjoy this story <3 I’ll try and update as much as I can

Notes:

just a tiny disclaimer this is a college+modern au:) Joseph is a freshman in college (19) and Caesar is a junior in college (20) im pretty sure those ages align since Jojo’s birthday would be at the start of the school year and Caesar’s would be after the school year ends :)

alsooo idk if I should tag this or not but this fic might contain underage drinking depending on where you’re from but in Italy the legal drinking age is 18 :) so yeah sorry for rambling it means a lot you’re reading my story… so yeah enjoy!!!! :)

Chapter 1: Welcome to Italy, Joseph!

Chapter Text

A loud sigh hit his chapped, cold lips. His lips began to tremble as he grabbed his phone from his back pocket.

“Why did Granny Erina insist on me studying abroad in Venice, it’s cold!” A young man by the name of Joseph Joestar groaned to himself. He was obviously overreacting; it was only about forty-five degrees fahrenheit (seven degrees Celsius).

Classes started in a couple days for Joseph due to his late transfer and Joseph not knowing a slick of Italian, his grandmother insisted that he should at least try, but frankly he didn’t care. Joseph didn’t really care if he went to college he would be completely content with a blue-collared job or even working for Speedwagon’s business.

Due to Joseph's inability to speak Italian, Speedwagon had arranged a personal translator to assist Joseph, the translator also went to the same university as Joseph. The translator promised Speedwagon that they would meet Joseph at the airport. But, there was a slight problem, they both didn’t know what eachother looked like. Joseph assumed that the translator had a sign or something that would identify them, as he began to walk carelessly through the airport something caught his eyes causing him to stop dead in his tracks.

“Ehi! Stai attento bastardo!” An unknown voice boomed behind him, he instantly turned his head around and snapped back, “I haven’t a clue what you said but it sounds like you just called me a bastard!” Joseph scoffed, locking eyes with the rather rude man; he had striking emerald eyes, his eyebrows were furrowed, and he had bright blond hair; his eyes traveled further down and saw purple markings just below the man’s eyes.

-ROUGH translation; Hey! Be careful, you bastard!

The blond’s mesmerizing eyes shot wide open as he spoke, “Your name wouldn’t happen to be Joseph would it?” He completely changed his tone from annoyed to rather regretful. Joseph’s eyebrows flew up as his eyes widened, a cocky smile plastered on his lips. “Yeah it is, and for the love of God just tell me you’re psychic. I was expecting a hot foreign chick, not some asshole douche!” Joseph annoyingly spoke as he began walking in front of him. The blond audibly scoffed as he followed the brunet and spoke, “You don’t even know where you’re going! You don’t even have your bags!”

The taller man stopped for a moment, his back still facing the blond man, “I do know where I'm going!” Joseph barked at him, trying to maneuver around the crowded airport. A small smirk etched onto the blond’s face as he listened to Joseph pull smoke out of his ass. “Look up Joseph, read that sign for me and tell me where we are right now,” he smirked, watching the back of  Joseph’s head turn upwards. “It says baggage claim! I thought you were Italian, why are you asking me?” Joseph asserted, trying his hardest to remain stern but he couldn’t help to stifle a laugh.

“Mio amico, that says we are entering emergency services. Turn around and follow me so we can get your bags,” The blond chuckled softly, waiting for the brunet to catch up to him. “I– knew that. I was just testing to see if you were actually Italian!” Joseph spastically spoke as he jogged up to the blond. The shorter man laughed once more, “You just can’t admit defeat can you, Jojo?” Joseph punched him in the upper arm and whined, “Don’t call me that! I would call you something if I even knew your name!” “Aw, aren’t we friends, Jojo?” The blond teased the other man, watching the spastic man get fired up.

“—You still haven’t answered my question, what’s your name?” Joseph spoke a sense of urgency in his voice, eventually walking towards baggage claim. “It’s Caesar Zeppeli,” the blond replied, his tone softening. Joseph’s gaze on the conveyor belt moved to Caesar, “Well it’s destiny that we’re together. Your grandpa saved my grandpa’s life,” Joseph lightly smiled before his gaze went back to the belt. “I guess you could say that, I'm guessing you heard all the stories too. Speedwagon personally contacted me about you coming to Italy, and I couldn’t say no. But, now I wish I did,” Caesar playfully jabbed as he watched Joseph desperately try and handle his two suitcases and a backpack. “Hardy har har,” Joseph huffed out, his English accent bleeding through his words. Just as Joseph thought he was getting a grip on all of his bags he dropped one of his bags on the floor earning a loud bang.

Caesar laughed as he walked over and grabbed the suitcase on the floor and the other suitcase from Jojo’s hand with ease. “God, do I have to do everything for you?” Caesar gaily spoke, extending the bar from both tops of the suitcases letting it roll behind him. “I could’ve easily carried all of my bags and– I really have to use the bathroom!” Joseph groaned out, carrying the small bookbag around one of his broad shoulders. “Yeah..sure you could. My car is parked right outside the entrance so you better hurry so I don’t get a parking ticket. If I do, you're paying for it,” Caesar replied looking over his shoulder watching the taller man walk the opposite way.

“Jojo?” Caesar snickered as his gaze fixated on the Brit’s broad shoulder muscles.

“Hm?” Joseph replied looking back at Caesar, the backpack strap slowly slipping down the slope of his shoulder.

“You’re going the wrong way, the bathroom is on our way out. You really didn’t study any Italian at all,” Caesar laughed watching the embarrassed Joseph waddle up to Caesar. “I was busy–!” Joseph spoke, trying to justify himself as he watched the smirk grow even bigger on his face.

“Ah~ Talking to pretty girls I'm assuming?” Caesar chuckled, eyeing the restrooms in front of them. “Nope–,” Joseph abruptly replied before making a b-line to the restrooms. “I’ll be waiting right here Jojo,” Caesar exclaimed as his grasp left the handles of the suitcases, eventually sitting down on the white floors. Caesar stared aimlessly out into the distance, boredom seeping into his thoughts after Jojo left.

After a couple minutes Joseph finally came out, slipping his backpack back on. “You ready?” Caesar smiled at Jojo, watching him pick up his own suitcases. Jojo walked over to Caesar, offering him a hand as he nodded in response. The two then began to walk to the exit alongside Caesar.

As the two young men exited the airport Joseph hugged himself trying to retain his body heat. Caesar laughed, looking Joseph up and down, “wearing a crop top in Italian weather isn’t exactly the smartest fashion choice”. Joseph rolled his eyes and spoke, “stop trying to find an excuse for checking me out, I know it’s pretty hard not to look at me”.

“Whatever you say pretty boy,” Caesar teased, watching Jojo become flustered.

Once they reached the parking lot Caesar pointed out his car to Joseph, it was a light blue 2013 Ashton Volante, the roof was off. A whistle escaped Jojo’s lips as he eyed the car down. “She’s a beauty, quite expensive for a college boy, how'd you get it?” Jojo playfully questioned the blond. Caesar’s eyes cut at the snide comment, “With money what else? I wasn’t given everything in life like you. I work for my stuff,” Caesar spat, venom laced in his words. Joseph’s face contorted, “I was just teasing, calm down. All I was trying to say is that you have a nice car”.

Caesar heavily sighed, “then why didn’t you just say that?” Joseph’s eyes rolled to the back of his skull, “Look, I’m tired, you’re tired, we’re both tired.—I’m sorry for it coming off as an insult”. Caesar bit his tongue and apologized to the younger man.

When Jojo and Caesar reached the car Caesar precipitously spoke, “Wait– don’t go in yet”. Joseph’s eyebrows knotted in confusion, but obeyed. He Awkwardly stood next to the car door, looking off at the scenery in front of him. Jojo could make out Caesar messing around in the back seat, he couldn’t help but notice how toned the blond was, especially in his arms. Joseph looked off once more until Caesar’s voice snapped him out of his thoughts. “Turn around Jojo”. His voice was sounded out of breath, probably due to him rummaging in the back seat only moments ago.

Jojo turned around as he realized what Caesar was doing a big smile appeared on his lips instantaneously. “Aww Caesarino! You know, I take back what I said, you're only a little annoying!” Jojo chuckled, staring into Caesar’s eyes. Caesar had a singular rose attached to a little card that read “Welcome to Italy, Jojo!” The Jojo part being in his own handwriting adding a personal touch to the card. “You’re testing it, Joestar. Get in the car before I punch you!” Caesar exclaimed, trying to sound serious but a small smile escaped his lips as he turned away from Joseph.
