Saiki’s POV
‘Words’ - Saiki’s inner monologue aka his thoughts
‘Words’ - Thought’s of others he hears
“Words” - regular speech
“Words” - Saiki’s speech to others
It’s no secret that Saiki hated attention of any kind, but lately he’s been craving attention from none other than the only person whose mind he couldn’t read. He didn’t know when he went from avoiding his attention to missing it, but here he was.
Somehow they’d fallen into a morning routine of Saiki sitting in his chair while Nendou stood behind him with his hands resting on his shoulders as their friends arrived and greeted them. After getting to school later than usual because his dad slept in and needed him to teleport him to work, he found himself deflating when the bell rang right as he was about to sit down, causing everyone else to head to their seat. ‘It’s okay we’ll have lunch together, and he always sits close enough for our legs to touch,’ the thought startled him, ‘since when did I want Nendou to touch me?’ To his own surprise Saiki wasn’t upset by the thought, but it did cause him to blush slightly when he looked behind him and made eye contact with the man in question only for him to give a very enthusiastic wave and mouth “Hi Buddy!” at him with the biggest smile on his face.
‘Offu! Is Saiki blushing?! He’s looking over here, is he blushing from finally seeing my beauty?!’ he heard Teruhashi’s thoughts screech in his head.
‘Yare Yare, I’m not even looking at her’ Saiki thought to himself as he turned his head back towards the teacher to focus on tuning out Teruhashi’s internal rambling about how to ask him out for coffee with her after school.
While the teacher started their lesson Saiki let his mind wander and think about the change in feelings he had towards Nendou. ‘There is something different about how I feel when around him, but what is this feeling?’ Saiki was not the best with emotions, with everyone’s thoughts and emotions flooding his brain at every second of the day it was hard to know which ones were his feelings and what were other people’s feelings.
When they first met Saiki hated how the big oaf would invade his personal space without warning or when he didn’t know he was around. Plus, Nendou constantly wanted to spend time with him outside of school. ‘Now that I think about it though, he doesn't do either anymore. Ever since that one day I was distracted by being relentlessly stalked by Teruhashi I was so startled by Nendou’s hand on my shoulder I fell to the ground in shock while telling him I didn’t hear him coming, Nendou’s made sure to stomp his feet and clear his throat before greeting me. I can’t believe I’ve never noticed! He’s more observant than I give him credit for.’ Saiki felt a warmth spread throughout his heart, because that realization led him to the next when he remembered one of the first times Nendou showed up at his house.
FLASHBACK
His parents were away visiting Kusuke in London, offering Saiki a rare weekend of quiet, on his own, in his comfortable house, and away from others' thoughts. He’d been looking forward to this weekend for a while if he was honest with himself. He’d been buying a 3 pack of coffee jelly after school throughout the week to stock up and make sure he wouldn’t have to leave. The only thing he wished he could’ve found was a movie or game he was interested in. Most movies had already been spoiled for him, and none of the games that looked any fun were one player.
Once Saiki had his first coffee jelly of the day in hand he headed to the couch, but before he could fully sit down there was a ring of the doorbell. ‘I’m absolutely not answering that’ he thought to himself while getting comfortable on the couch. He managed to enjoy a single delicious bite before another ring of the doorbell sounded. ‘Wait, I can’t hear the thoughts of whoever is it, so it’s either Kusuke or Nendou’ With the answer of who was at the door Saiki couldn’t bring himself to leave the comfort of his position on the couch, but he also knew Nendou wouldn’t be going away without an answer. Using his telekinesis to unlock the door Saiki projected to Nendou “It’s unlocked come on in, I’m in the living room”
He could hear Nendou opening the door and taking off his shoes before appearing from the hallway, “Hi pal! Have any plans for today? I brought a new game I got this week, but tried playing it this morning and it needs another player. “
‘Hmm… I don’t mind Nendou’s company since I can’t read his thoughts, and I did see that game and it looks fun…’ Nendou must’ve seen his hesitation on his face.
“Don’t feel like you have to let me stay buddy, I can always go get ramen and leave you to enjoy your alone time, and…” The hesitation had Kusuo intrigued, ‘he’s not one to be shy about speaking what comes to his mind.’ Nendou continued “I heard you say your parents were gone this weekend, and I know you love your alone time and all but I wanted to make sure you didn’t get lonely.”
‘That’s surprising he remembered my parents will be gone this weekend, I think I mentioned it two weeks ago.’ Saiki pushed the thought away as quickly as it came. ‘ I can’t remember the last time anyone gave me a choice in hanging out’ with his friends taking his quietness as agreeing to anything, and his mom going scary mode to force his hand and accept invitations.
“Thank you for listening Nendou” Nendou’s head whipped toward Saiki at his soft but sincere words, “I have some ramen here, I’ll go make it if you want to set up the game?” Saiki didn’t wait for his response before getting up from the couch to head to the kitchen.
END FLASHBACK
It was a good thing no one was looking at Saiki, because his eyes had gotten wider the more he realized just how much information about Nendou he missed because of his own initial judgment of him. ‘I. Am. So. Stupid’ is all Saiki could think for the rest of the lesson
~~~~~
As soon as the bell rang signaling lunch Saiki walked over to where Nendou, Hairo and Kaido were waiting for him and Kuboyasu so they could go to their usual lunch spot on the roof. They got comfortable at the table before digging into their lunches as Shun talked about the next Dark Reunion plot unfolding. The table they sat at was rectangular and had a bench on either side. One side had Shun, Kuboyasu, with Hairo on the end, leaving Saiki and Nendou on the other side. This had become their usual arrangement, with the exception of Hairo. After Kaido’s insistence there’s a battle coming soon, Hairo decided to do squats in between every bite to “prepare for the defeat of Dark Reunion.” It was something Saiki found he appreciated about the others, they never made fun of Kaido and his imagination running wild, but rather joined in on the fun.
Saiki took advantage of the others listening to Kaido’s plan of attack to look to his left at Nendou next to him. Despite the bench having plenty of extra room, Saiki was very pleased when Nendou sat close enough that the sides of their thighs rested against each other. He found himself getting lost looking at the bigger man’s face, he had finally learned how to control his x-ray powers ‘I don’t know why everyone thinks he’s so ugly, or that his chin is weird. His jaw is sharp, and his chin fits his face well. Plus his “goofy” hair is so unique and looks really soft, would he let me feel it? Wait what? That's a weird, not normal thing to do.. Right?’ He turned back to finish his lunch but found himself leaning towards Nendou unconsciously.
After they all finished their lunches, they still had ten minutes before class started. Hairo had left a couple minutes ago to help an underclassmen he saw struggling to carry their books. Kaido was demonstrating one of his “deadly killer moves” to the group, which turned out to be him flapping his arms as he kicked a leg as high as he could.
“Wow Kaido, you actually got that kick pretty high!” Kuboyasu was genuine with the praise, ‘He’s so adorable when he gets excited like this. I want to teach him some actual fighting moves, but don’t want it to hurt his feelings if it comes out the wrong way.’’
“Yeah man!” Nendou agreed before continuing, “You could do some actual damage with that move if you practice.”
“Really? You think so?” Kaidou’s eyes got big and he could feel himself start to tear up ‘They actually mean that don’t they.’ Kaido smiled big and bright.
“I can also show you some of my moves too Shun, those hands are lightning fast just need to be shown how to make thunder.” Kuboyasu emphasized the thunder by slamming his fist on the table.
Kaido let out an “Eep!” at the noise the table made, but quickly recovered. “Yeah! That’d be awesome Kuboyasu, let’s go!”
‘So adorable! His hair looks so fluffy’ Kuboyasu thought, causing Saiki to perk up at the last part. ‘Maybe it is normal…’ Kuboyasu stood up and took the step separating himself and Kaido, raising his hand to ruffle the younger man’s hair. ‘It is soft and fluffy. Perfect.’ The two walked over to the next table and Kuboyasu started with how to make a proper fist.
“That looked fun!” Saiki raised an eyebrow while turning to him, before he could ask what Nendou meant there was a big hand in his hair. “Wow buddy, your hair is super soft.” Nendou let out a low chuckle. When Saiki made no move to remove his hand Nendou shifted his hand to the side of his head, his hand was so big his fingers were lightly scratching his scalp behind his ear, while the palm of Nendou’s hand rested on his left cheek. Saiki found himself leaning into the touch, and when he felt a thumb at his lip his eyes snapped open ‘when did I close my eyes?’ Raising his violet eyes to meet the brown ones that were full of love, Saiki’s only thought before the bell rang signaling the end of lunch was ‘offu… I think I have a crush on Nendou Rikki…-’
~~~~~
By the time the final bell rang signaling the end of the school day Saiki had his answer as to why he was craving the attention of his best friend. While he wasn’t expecting that the answer was because he wanted to be more than friends, after spending the second half of his school day analyzing his feelings and what that meant he was really looking forward to ramen.
Going to his locker to change shoes before meeting up with the big oaf and his group of friends at the front gate. Before he could even begin to walk over to where he saw Kaidou and Kuboyasu talking with Hairo he heard the familiar stomp stomp stomp followed by a throat clearing and a big arm was slapped across the back of his shoulders.
“Hey buddy! Want to go get some ramen?” For the first time in his life he wasn’t annoyed by the physical contact but rather he actually felt himself relax under the bigger man’s familiar touch as he turned his head to look at him. He had the goofiest smile spread across his whole face as he waited for Saiki’s non response, and Saiki couldn’t help the warm smile that tugged at his lips.
It had become a regular thing the guys in their friend group did after school, go get ramen at whatever shop Nendou’s belly led them to. ‘Actually,’ he thought to himself, ‘we’ve been doing this for almost two months straight, why does he still ask?’
“Nendou, you know you don't have to ask everyday if I want to go get ramen.” seeing Nendou’s confused face at that he continued, “as long as you’re going I’ll always want to go, I like spending time with you.”
“Really buddy?” Nendou questioned, his smile getting even bigger after Saiki’s nod. “I like spending time with you too, partner, doesn’t matter what we’re doing!”
Feeling bold, Saiki followed up, “I agree. Did you want..” Saiki had to clear his throat despite not even using it to speak these words. ‘Is this what butterflies feel like? Why am I nervous to ask?’ He forced himself to finish, hoping he didn’t sound ridiculous. “...to do something this weekend? Just you and me?”
“Heck yeah partner! All anyone’s talking about doing this weekend is going to the festival. There will be carnival games, rides, and stuff. The weather is supposed to be super nice though, -”
‘Ugh there’ll be so many people there, but if he wants to I’ll still go.’ Saiki thought to himself. But today was a day of surprises it seems, especially when it came to Nendou.
“So I thought it’d be the perfect day to go to the beach, it shouldn't be crowded at all. We’d be able to just sit and chill without anyone drowning or bothering us this time. What do you think, Saiki?!”
“That actually sounds perfect, Nendou.” Saiki had a rare but genuine smile, and could feel the blush creeping up his cheeks but didn’t care to try and hide it this time.
“Saiki?” All the joy Saiki was feeling was immediately lost at hearing Teruhashi’s greeting, his entire body stiffened and his face darkened in obvious annoyance. Because he was still looking into Nendou’s eyes, he saw that Nendou had understood exactly what Saiki was feeling. He had been so distracted talking to Nendou he hadn’t heard Teruhashi’s thoughts as she approached, but he could sure hear them now and they made his mood go from annoyed to mad.
‘Poor Saiki, having to put up with Nendou dragging him places after school and always bothering him by invading his personal space. Can’t he tell Saiki doesn’t like being touched.’
‘Wrong, it’s you that invades my personal space constantly by stalking me and corning me into situations.’ Saiki was very mad now., and didn’t try to hide it when he replied to the blue haired nuisance. “What do you want?”
‘See he is annoyed with you Nendou!’ ‘Wrong again.’ ‘don’t worry Saiki! I’m the perfect pretty girl and will save you from having to spend any more time with Nendou and ask you for coffee after school. Then I can ask him to go on a date to the festival this weekend! With that plan in her mind Teruhashi started, “I’ve been wanting to try the new bakery down the street, I heard they have coffee croissants. Would you like to go w-”
“No” Saiki cut her off before she could even finish the sentence, he had felt Nendou’s hand tightening on his right shoulder during her last sentence.
“Oh..” ‘He said no?! He’s never said no to free sweets?! Why!?’
Nendou cut in “Too slow Teruhashi. Partner and I are going for ramen with the guys. See you Monday!” Nendou’s tone didn't have his usual playfulness to it, which was a surprise to both the others present, but for different reasons. Teruhashi because it was the first time Nendou ever sounded serious around her, instead of cluelessly goofy. Saiki however had a completely different reaction and for the first time ever felt himself getting hard at the jealousy in Nendou’s tone.
As soon as Nendou had finished his dismissal farewell to the girl, he turned Saiki and himself towards the exit and started walking, never letting his arm fall away from its position across Saiki’s shoulders. Saiki recovered from his temporary arousal, when they met up with the rest of the guys they all fell into comfortable small talk as they walked towards the restaurant.
Saiki just kept waiting for the moment Nendou would pull away, but after 5 minutes of walking his arm remained. ‘I want to hold him too, this feels nice’ They were a little behind the other three while waiting at a crosswalk. Gathering all the courage he could at the moment Saiki lifted his left arm to wrap around Nendou’s lower back. He could feel Nendou stiffen then let out a small shudder, “Is this ok?” While Saiki now knew he had a crush on Nendou, he actually didn’t know if his feelings were returned.
Despite not being able to read his thoughts, it was easy to read Nendou’s face. His cheeks turned pink fast and his grin was so big it looked like it hurt. Saiki felt his own cheeks reddening in response to Nendou’s husky whisper “Absolutely Kusuo.” The use of his first name combined with the close contact shot a spark of warmth to his heart. ‘Hmm, if this is how my parents feel all the time I get their behavior now.’
He knew the other guys noticed the new closeness between them, but Saiki found himself appreciating his friends even more when all three of them at near the exact same time had the thought of ‘Oh well, doesn’t matter they look happy’ and didn’t make any further comment on the matter as they walked the rest of the way to what had become their favorite ramen shop. As they walked in, the waiter greeted them and told them to take their usual table in the back and that they’d be there to take their orders soon. The group settled into the booths with the same seating arrangement as lunch with Saiki and Kyboyasu against the wall and Hairo and Nendou nearest the aisle, leaving Kaido in the middle.
“The usuals?” The waiter questioned as he set down 5 waters. He was met with a chorus of affirmatives and Saiki nodding his head. The waiter then faced Nendou “your request is available now by the way sir”and with that he walked away leaving four sets of eyes on Nendou.
“What request?” Kaido had been the first to speak the question on everyone’s mind.
“Nice try runt! It's a surprise, I asked if they could order or make something that wasn’t on their menu. But don’t worry we can get one today after ramen!” It was clear that was all Nendou was going to say about the matter. Kaido must’ve thought the same because he just shrugged his shoulders and turned to Kuboyasu to continue the conversation they were having before.
With the attention of the three guys who were on the other side of the table now on their plans for attending the festival this weekend, Saiki turned to Nendou admiring the man’s smile. ‘I can’t believe I never noticed how handsome he is. His lips look soft.’ A soft smile settled on Saiki’s face, just for it to fall flat into a very annoyed face at the approaching thoughts of a certain blue haired stalker.
‘There’s Saiki and the guys! Ugh, why is Nendou always unnecessarily close to my Saiki!? There’s plenty of room on their side of the bench, he doesn’t need to be right next to Saiki.’
“You okay partner?” Nendou asked him with a worried look on his face, which was somehow more handsome now that Saiki could see that Nendou really does understand him despite barely talking.
“Yeah, it’s just that I see Teruhashi coming over here and she’s really starting to annoy me.” It seemed at some point Saiki’s mind decided to trust Nendou fully now that his feelings about the man had been identified, it didn’t bother him one bit.
Nendou’s face told him that he shared the feeling, as if to prove Saiki’s point Nendou wrapped a protective arm around the psychic resting on the back of the booth with his hand resting on Saiki’s right shoulder.
“She just can’t seem to take the hint can she?” Nendou questioned to the surprise of all four of the others at the table.
“What are y-” Kuboyasu cut himself off once he noticed the “she” in question approaching the table.
“Hi guys! Fancy meeting you here” Teruhashi greeted, oblivious to the visible discomfort on both Saiki and Nendou’s face, despite looking right at them. ‘Saiki may not ask me to stay but I can always count on Kaidou’s love for me to work to my advantage.’
The thought made Saiki even more uncomfortable, ‘she’s right,’ he thought to himself, because she does always worm her way into hanging out with our group because of Kaidou. ‘I can’t blame him though’ Saiki knows Kaidou doesn’t actually think of her in the way Teruhashi believes, (he’s not hit that part of maturity left). ‘He’s just oblivious to the tension she causes. He’s too nice for his own good.’
‘I knew Saiki didn’t return Teruhashi’s feelings, but I didn’t realize how uncomfortable she made him. Actually, I can remember at least three different occasions he has told her straight up he doesn’t like her, and has no interest in going on a date with her. Yet she keeps appearing when he’s around.’ At Kuboyasu’s observation Saiki made eye contact with him and gave him a pleading look before motioning with his eyes to Kaidou. ‘I hope he understands what I mean. Kuboyasu has saved me from being cornered by Teruhashi a couple of times now.’
“Teruhashi!” exclaimed Kaidou, “care to joi- oof- ow!“ Kuboyasu’s elbow to Kaidou’s ribs was not subtle, but it was effective in shutting the boy up so he could speak instead.
“Can we help you Teruhashi?” To Saiki’s relief the only two people who were shocked by Kuboyasu’s coldness were Kaidou and Teruhashi.
“Wha- Um, I- just thought… Saiki…” Taking advantage of Teruhashi’s hesitation and shock, Nendou cut in.
“You’re making my partner uncomfortable again. Can you please leave us alone for once?” Saiki brought his violet eyes back to look into the brown eyes that hadn’t left him since asking him what was wrong, he could see a hidden rage and jealousy in them he’d never seen on his behalf before. He moved his left hand to gently rest on Nendou’s mid thigh, and was grateful when Hairo finally decided enough was enough.
“Listen, not to be rude Teruhashi,” ‘I’ve never heard him this serious’ Saiki thought, and it seemed, listening to their thoughts, everyone else thought so too. “But everyone at school knows we come to this ramen place after school every Friday, you yourself pulled this stunt with us last week. Now, usually we’d be inviting you to join because it’s the polite thing to do…” Hairo paused until she met his eye, then continued in a lower voice so that only those at the table could hear, “I also know how uncomfortable you make Saiki.” He ignored her gasp of surprise and continued before she could interrupt. “Especially when you stalk him and our group in public like this to take advantage of his politeness and Kaidou’s friendliness to spend time with him. Despite him repeatedly making it clear he does not want to date you. So please, just leave him, and us alone for a while until you learn boundaries.”
Throughout Hairo’s mini speech, Teruhashi was slowly falling apart. Tears had started falling down her cheeks after her gasp, and the last sentence must’ve been her tipping point as it caused her to beeline towards the exit as she wailed out between sobs, “BUT HE HAS TO LIKE ME! I’M THE MOST PERFECT PRETTY GIRL!”
Once the door closed behind the hysterical girl Saiki recovered immediately and felt all the muscles in his body relax more into Nendou.
“Thanks guys” Saiki started, “she just wouldn’t listen to me.”
“I’m sorry Saiki!” Kaido was the first to respond. “I didn’t know how uncomfortable she was making you feel!” ‘I’m so stupid! Saiki’s my best friend, I should’ve seen how he felt about her.’
“It’s not your fault Kaido, it was hard to tell how she affected me considering I’m not the most expressive, nor am I one to bring attention to myself. It really is ok Shun“ Saiki felt the last sentence, particularly the use of his friend’s first name, was necessary in order for Kaidou to believe his words.
“Yeah Kaido, I only just put it all together seconds before Hairo told her off about it.” Kuboyasu added, because it was true and didn’t want the sensitive boy to beat himself up over not figuring out faster.
It was then the waiter showed up with their food, and the boys dug in immediately. After a couple minutes their conversation turned back to making plans for the weekend. Saiki couldn’t remember the last time he felt so relaxed while in public, the body heat of the man next to him helped a lot he noticed. When Saiki had his fill of ramen he settled back into the booth, taking the opportunity to watch Nendou and his friends. Kuboyasu and Kaido were trying to convince Hairo to skip tennis practice tomorrow morning to hang out, with no luck yet. Shifting his thoughts to Nendou who was finishing the rest of Saiki’s ramen he didn’t want. ‘I want to know how he feels about me. Should I ask him to come over to my house after this?’
The waiter appeared again asking if they were ready for Nendou’s surprise, to which the man enthusiastically replied with “Yes please! Buddy’s done with his ramen!” ‘Buddy? What happened to partner?’ Saiki indeed did not have a pout on his lips, nope, he did not.. ‘Ok maybe I do. Yare yare, I need to know if he returns these feelings!’ As much as Saiki wanted an immediate answer he didn’t think he had enough courage to essentially ask Nendou out in front of his other friends, no matter how much he knew the other wouldn’t care.
Thankfully the waiter returned with five plates of whatever Nendou’s surprise was. Saiki’s mood went from worried to elated as he saw the delicious homemade coffee jelly that was placed in front of him. Immediately taking a bite of the desert it was so delicious he had to close his eyes to savor it. Once he opened his eyes he saw the three across from him had followed his lead and dug in, but Nendou hadn’t touched his yet. Saiki felt the arm that was still behind him move to rest more onto his shoulders than the booth, and could feel his gaze burning a hole into the back of his head. “Nendou, you asked them to make these? Why?” Saiki had only projected the question to Nendou as he turned to face him, seeing that a blush had risen onto the bigger man's face. Saiki received a small chuckle in response, but just as Nendou opened his mouth to respond Kuboyasu spoke up.
“That was delicious dude! I hate to eat and run but, Kaido, your show is gonna start soon and if we don’t leave now we’ll miss the intro. I know that’s your favorite part.” Kuboyasu just smiled more at Kaido’s flustered reaction to his words.
“Perfect timing because I gotta run too!” Hairo jumped up from the table and stretched while waiting for the other two to follow suit.
“No worries guys!” Nendou reassured, “See you Monday!”
They said their goodbyes and now Saiki finally found himself alone with Nendou for one of the first times since realizing he had a crush on the man. Nendou’s attention returned to Saiki, and as their eyes met Saiki didn’t even try to stop the smile he felt spreading across his face. “Thank you for seeing me, Nendou.” He found the words coming out before he lost the courage. “You’re a lot smarter than people give you credit for, and I’m sorry it took me so long to see you.”
“What do you mean buddy?” Nendou questioned in the softest tone Saiki had ever heard the man use. It wasn’t that Nendou was confused, he could tell it was because he was nervous. ‘That’s a good sign, right? Me making him nervous could mean he does like me.’ Feeling bold with that thought in mind, Saiki slowly leaned his head a couple of inches closer to Nendou to place a chaste kiss on the soft cheek of the blushing man beneath him. The tender kiss lasted only a few seconds and then Saiki pulled his head back, his cheeks were burning and Saiki couldn’t find the nerve to look back into Nendou’s eyes so he returned to his coffee jelly.
The low chuckle Nendou let out in response to his actions had Saiki whipping head up to look at Nendou “What?” Saiki questioned when he saw the fond smirk on his face.
“You’re just so adorable partner.” And that was the only response Nendou gave before turning his attention back to finishing the last few bites of ramen. They settled into a comfortable silence as they ate their desserts. Saiki finished his first, after pushing the empty plate away he leaned back into the booth fully and rested his head on the shoulder of the arm still wrapped around him. Finding comfort in the warmth Nendou provided Saiki closed his eyes and let his left hand rest on the large thigh once again. They stayed like that even after Nendou finished his dessert and the waiter came to collect all the empty dishes, settle their bills, and at their request brought over two cups of fresh coffee. Nendou had come to rest his head on the pink hair, being careful of his antennae.
“I really like this.” Nendou’s voice was soft but still startled Saiki a little bit in surprise, not enough to make him jump, but enough for him to have opened his eyes. ‘I could’ve fallen asleep, it's so peaceful in his arms. Quiet too since I can’t hear his thoughts.’
“Me too.” Saiki responded, ‘maybe he’d want to watch a movie and cuddle - yare yare that’s so mushy, but still.. it sounds nice…’ “Nendou, would you want to come to my house and watch a movie? We could watch a horror movie and cuddle,- ” At Nendou’s gasp Saiki lifted his head off the comfortable shoulder to look at Nendou’s eyes in panic before continuing nervously, “uh if you want, that is. I mean I just liked this and you said you liked it too and I know you like horror movies too so I just thought that -” Saiki cut himself off to stop his rambling by slapping his left hand over his mouth. ‘I’ve never been this nervous, oh my god why did I say all that?! Why isn’t he saying anything? What is wrong with me today?’
Nendou cut off all Saiki’s internal rambling and panic as he lifted his left hand to gently cup the right side of Saiki’s face. Violet eyes met black and Saiki could feel the larger hand cover his own that was still over his mouth. Nendou lowered both their hands away from his mouth, intertwining their fingers as they landed in their laps. Saiki felt himself swallow the lump in his throat which caused Nendou’s eyes to follow the movement before a big smile formed on Nendou’s face.
“I’d love to partner.” The soft laugh Nendou let out, combined with the answer made Saiki’s entire body relaxed once again. Only to stiffen again in surprise as Nendou leaned in to return his earlier kiss on the cheek. As soon as Nendou’s lips landed on his cheek Saiki felt his eyes flutter close and he let out his breath he didn’t realize he’d been holding. Just like Saiki’s, Nendou’s kiss only lasted a few seconds before he was pulling away. The boys just looked into each other's eyes for a moment, both were smiling and had blushes continuing to redden their cheeks.
“Good, then let’s go, partner.” Saiki smirked fondly as his use of the pet name caused the goofiest grin to appear on Nendou’s face. They got up and left the ramen shop, finding themselves walking closer than usual as they headed to Saiki’s house.
~~~~~
Luck was definitely on Saiki’s side today, as they approached his house he could tell his parents weren’t home. After using his clairvoyance he saw the note his mom wrote letting him know they went out for date night and would be home late. Which was perfect for Saiki, while walking he made up his mind and was now on a mission to ask Nendou to make tomorrow an official date. He also wouldn’t mind trying to kiss his lips, he’s never wanted to do that with anyone so to say he was nervous was an understatement.
Saiki unlocked and opened the front door before motioning for Nendou to enter first. Once both boys had taken their shoes off and dropped off their bags Saiki led them into the living area, where he went to his movies and pulled the horror ones off the shelf and put them on the coffee table. Nendou made himself comfortable on the couch as he started looking through the movies once Saiki left to go to the kitchen and heat up some popcorn. Seeing that Nendou was distracted and the popcorn was in the microwave, Saiki teleported to his bedroom to change out of his school clothes. He changed into a comfortable pair of plain black sweatpants and a plain pink shirt that matched his hair. After debating for a couple of seconds Saiki grabbed a pair of plain gray sweatpants and a green shirt that matched his glasses and used his powers to enlarge them to be able to fit Nendou. As Saiki started to head back downstairs he grabbed his comforter off his bed at the last minute.
‘I hope he doesn’t think it’s weird I grabbed clothes for him, but he’d look so cute in green that matches my glasses - ‘ Saiki rolled his eyes at his own ridiculous thoughts and descended the stairs. The smell of popcorn reached him at the bottom step just as the microwave beeped signaling it was ready.
“Perfect timing partner! I chose that American horror As Above, So Below hope that’s ok with you.” Nendou had gotten up at the microwave's beep, and by the time he finished his sentence he was back on the couch with the snack.
“Yeah I love that one. I got you some clothes that’ll fit you in case you want to get out of your school clothes.” Saiki held out the clothes and was relieved when Nendou immediately took them with a smile.
“Thanks buddy! The green matches your glasses, that's so cute man!” Saiki’s face was now as red as a fire truck, causing Nendou to chuckle and take a step closer to Saiki. “You’re so cute when you blush Saiki.” The words caused his blush to deepen even more, but not as much as what happened next. Nendou reached his right hand up to gently brush his fingers across Saiki’s cheek, which caused his eyelids to flutter before closing and leaning into the hand on his cheek. With his eyes closed Saiki didn’t see Nendou leaning in, so when Nendou’s lips connected with the right side of his face just barely connecting with the corner of lips Saiki’s eye shot wide open with a gasp. Saiki’s right hand shot to the center of Nendou’s chest and gripped his school shirt in his fist when Nendou moved to pull away.
Without thinking too much about it Saiki leaned in and got on his tiptoes to reach Nendou’s face, pausing for a second to look from Nendou’s lips then back up to meet his eyes. Looking for any hesitation or sign to stop in the black eyes, all Saiki saw was hopeful excitement. Slowly lifting the hand that wasn’t in Nendou’s shirt to tangle in the hair at the back of his neck, Saiki gathered his nerve before he could lose it and leaned in closing his eyes.
As soon as their lips connected Nendou moved his right arm to wrap around Saiki’s middle back. His other hand came to rest on the left side of Saiki’s face. The kiss was soft but powerful, it was the best feeling Saiki’s ever felt. ‘I get it now, I never want to stop. His lips are so soft.’ After a few seconds Saiki pulled away just enough to tilt his head the other way and then reconnected their lips again. A few more seconds passed before they pulled away from the kiss and rested their foreheads together catching their breaths.
“That was amazing. I’ve wanted to do that for a while buddy.” Nendou let out a small chuckle, moving both his hands to cup the sides of Saiki’s face, meeting eyes once again.
Feeling bold at that Saiki finally opened up about his feelings, “I wish I figured out how I felt sooner, I really like you Nendou. As more than a friend.” Saiki emphasized his words by stealing another quick chaste kiss.
“I like you too, Kusuo.” The use of his first name caused Saiki to gasp, making Nendou chuckle before placing three quick kisses to Saiki’s lips, cheek, and forehead respectively. “I’m gonna change, I’ll be right back.” With one final passionate kiss that left Saiki breathless, Nendou headed to the bathroom with the clothes he was given. Saiki made himself comfortable on the couch, taking a handful of popcorn. ‘The shirt was a good choice’
They spent the entire movie cuddling in comfortable silence, minus Nendou’s expressive reactions to the scenes. As the movie progressed they found themselves melting into each other’s embrace. By the time the credits started to roll Saiki and Nendou found themselves tangled in each other. Both of them were laying down, Nendou on his back slightly propped up with his arms wrapped around the smaller boy on top of him whose head rested in the crook of his neck and shoulder. ‘I’ve never felt this at peace’ Saiki found himself thinking, all the thoughts of everyone nearby were somehow muffled when he was this connected to the man beneath him. He felt Nendou moving his head above him before he felt lips connecting to his forehead.
“Nendou, would you like to make tomorrow an official date? With me?” He didn’t know what came over him but Saiki had actually asked Nendou on a date, with real words from his mouth. He rarely used his actual voice so his question came out a little scratchy but loud enough he knew Nendou heard. Especially when Nendou then took his face in both his hands forcing him to meet the others’ eyes. There wasn’t enough time for Saiki to get worried about what his response may be, as Nendou immediately connected their lips once again in a kiss, this one more heated than their first.
“I would love that Kusuo! I’ve wanted to be your partner since I first met you.” Nendou breathlessly answered, before returning to the kiss. Nendou’s hands started traveling from Saiki’s face to the back of his neck leaving one hand there his other landing on Saiki’s thigh, prompting Saiki to start his own exploration. One hand landing on the big chest beneath him, the other next to Nendou’s head on the couch to help give Saiki enough leverage to shift his hips and legs to straddle the thighs of his now partner. The thought of Nendou officially being his and the new friction between his legs had Saiki letting out a small groan of arousal, sparking a deep moan out of Nendou in return.
They remained like that for a while, getting lost in the feeling of each other and exploring each other's mouths. Saiki was now fully resting on Nendou’s chest with one hand in his hair and the other exploring the skin of his chest that was now revealed as his shirt was pushed up with Saiki’s hand in its exploration. Nendou had both hands on the back of Saiki’s thighs before moving upwards, with one sneaking beneath the psychic’s shirt on his back as the other shamelessly grabbed and squeezed Saiki’s ass. The friction and the new sensations caused by Nendou’s warm hands covering most of his back and ass were amazing to say the least. ‘His hands are so warm and big… and I can feel he’s big down there too.’ The thought had Saiki making a high pitched moan that was full of need, a need for more.
Saiki suddenly put both his hands on Nendou’s chest to push himself up to a sitting position, both boys let out a groan at the added pressure it caused between their legs. Nendou opened his mouth to ask why Saiki pulled away but was left with his mouth open in awe as the pink haired boy on top of him promptly pulled his own shirt off and threw it on the floor. Saiki was blushing and for once didn’t try to hide it as he waited for Nendou’s reaction, suddenly nervous. His nervousness was completely washed away a second later when Nendou let out a whispered, “ oh wow” before moving his hands to Saiki’s chest. Followed closely by Nendou’s mouth as he kissed and licked his way up his chest before their lips met again in a much more heated kiss.
“Your turn” was all Saiki said before grabbing the hem of Nendou’s shirt and lifting it off the bigger man, his shirt joining Saiki’s on the floor. They seemed to melt together once the barrier between their chests were gone, once again laying back down on the couch continuing their heated kissing.
Saiki had never kissed anyone let alone make out with someone, he thought he’d feel awkward and not know what to do. Now that he found himself here quite literally in Nendou’s lap and having been the one to take their shirts off he laughed at himself, ‘this really is the most natural thing to do in the world, I can’t even hear anyone else’s thoughts.’ Saiki rolled his hips experimentally and was rewarded with Nendou’s hands flying down to grip his ass as they both moaned at the new friction. He never wanted this to stop.
Of course it was then Saiki heard his mom and dad’s thoughts as they got closer to the house. He knew he’d have at least two minutes before they got to the front door, so at least he had some warning and didn’t have to rush. He let out a frustrated noise as he pulled away from the kiss to explain to Nendou “My parents are almost home.” Yet Saiki made no move to get off Nendou, which caused a low chuckle from the man beneath him.
Nendou bent his head to kiss his neck as his hands continued to massage his ass. “Well, aren’t you going to teleport us to your bed before they get here?”
