Chapter Text
Rose still hadn't quite woken up yet, rubbing her eyes as she yawned. Her handler had woken her up a couple of minutes ago to go somewhere, she didn't quite know where. Her handler had mentioned something about a new room, why she was getting a new room when her room was fine baffled her, but oh well.
She held onto her handler's hand as she was led through the halls. The world was slowly catching up to her and her thoughts were less jumbled now. She was led into a room with a single person in it. She turned to her handler for answers, only for her handler to gently push her into the room before shutting the door. Oh.. This is what she meant. Rose stood awkwardly by the door, not quite knowing what to do with herself. She decided to walk over to the bed that wasn't occupied and try to go back to sleep.
She got a good three or four hours of sleep before she was woken up for breakfast. She sat up groggily and immediately noted the other kid's absence. She slowly got ready before walking out and taking her handler's hand, being led to the eating area. They were never allowed out of their rooms unless they were with an adult. Her eyes scanned the room, surveying the kids. She went to grab some breakfast before heading over to one of the empty tables. She wasn't a really social person, so she's alone most of the time.
She was about three quarters of the way down when someone sat a little way away. She looked over at them, smiling faintly when she saw the angel sitting there. She finished her breakfast before getting up, placing her dishes in the sink and walking over to her handler. When she got back to her room, she found a scientist standing there. Oh.. It was time for tests. She was led out of her room, following close behind the scientist.
She doesn't like the tests. they always hurt, but they say it's for a good cause, so she lets them do what they need to do. When they reached the test room, she was placed atop a medical bed. The doctors were always nicer than the scientists, but it was rare for the doctors to run the tests. The doctors got her all setup for the tests, looking at her with sympathy in their eyes. She just smiled back at them sadly, preparing herself for the brutal tests.
The tests included a lot of electricity. The scientists sent waves of electricity throughout her body. they do this to see how much she could handle before her powers went haywire. The voltage would always get stronger and stronger until she could barely even scream. Her powers, however, never went haywire. She had more control over her powers than most of the older kids. This both fascinated and angered the scientists. It fascinated them because they had never seen the type of control before, but it angered them because they had never seen her powers before.
After the tests were over and done with, she was carried back to her room where there were some doctors waiting. They patched her up and gave her some heavy pain relief. She was drifting in and out of consciousness during the whole process, and was vaguely aware of the other presence in the room.
She used what little strength she had left to turn her head, opening her eyes just enough to see the angel. He looked very concerned, gaze switching from the doctor to her repeatedly. She smiled faintly, hoping that would help ease his worries, closing her eyes when he smiled back nervously. She finally allowed the darkness to take her as she drifted off to sleep.
When she woke again, it was to the sound of yelling and crying. Her eyes shot open as her body jolted up at the harsh voice. Her eyes darted around the room, searching for the source of the sound. What she found was not what she expected at all. Over by the other bed was a fuming handler towering over the angel, who was the source of the crying, yelling at him for disobeying orders or some shit like that.
She felt her magic flare up as her anger grew. That is not how you're meant to treat an angel! A pure blood at that! There were times where she would try to rein in her magic, this time was not one of those times. She let her magic grow and morph into dangerous tendrils. She took great pleasure in the shudder that the handler gave when the temperature dropped.
She saw the angel look over at her, the handler following suit. A wicked grin made its way onto my face as the handler paled, nearly fainting under the menacing stare of a devil. She knew her form had changed, of course it had, and she took great delight in the fear her form caused. She raised an eyebrow at him, grinning menacingly before her grin dropped into a glowering glare.
She gestured to the door with a sharp nod of her head, the door swinging open with a little help from her magic. The handler gave a fearsome nod before turning tail and running out of the room, Rose watching his every move. The door shut abruptly once he was out of the room and Rose felt her magic die down, finally calming down. She suddenly remembered she wasn't the only one in the room, turning to the angel.
Much to her surprise, he didn't seem scared. In fact, he seemed in awe, eyes sparkling and mouth parted slightly. I shifted uncomfortably under his gaze before walking over to him. He quickly stood up to meet her height, smiling brightly. She stopped in front of him, reaching up with her hand to wipe his tears. "Um.. Thanks for uh.. sticking up for me." The angel said awkwardly, rubbing the back of his neck. Rose smiled softly, nodding. "No problem." She responded, much to the angel's delight. "Uh- I'm Peter, but you can call me Pete." He said, sticking his hand out to shake hands.
"You're a pure blood devil right? I've never met one of those before! I've heard a lot though, like how they're really powerful. I also heard they're really composed as well, making them even scarier, because you can't see what they're feeling. Is that true? You seem to have a lot of control over your powers, 'cause it uh- helped you out before. You know I don't really know how to control my powers. I could never really understand them. I also just realised I'm rambling. Sorry, I just haven't had many people to talk to lately." Pete laughed softly, rubbing the back of his neck and looking down embarrassed.
A smile had made its way onto my face about halfway through his rambling, enjoying his enthusiasm. "It's alright, I enjoy hearing you talk about stuff that makes you happy. Now as much as I would love to keep talking, I think we need to go to bed, before the handlers catch us up after dark." She smiled brightly at the angel, who just realised how late it had gotten. "You're probably right." He said sadly before looking back at her hopefully. "Talk to you later?" He asked nervously, a shy smile appearing on his face.
Rose smiled softly before pulling him in for a hug. "Course we'll talk later! Night Pete." She said, turning back to her bed. "Yeah, night uh.. I just realised I never caught your name." She looked over at him before smiling. "My name's Rosalyn, but you can just call me Rose." She smiled, climbing into bed. "Cool name. Night Rose." He said, doing the same as her. They drift off to sleep, not yet knowing just how much they would grow in the future.
