A Captive Audience

Summary:

Sometimes the only way to get information is the ugly way.

Notes:

This was a requested prompt over on my RP account. More of a short piece of character study than anything.

Work Text:

Blood he was intimately familiar with. Interrogation, as well, when necessary.

He crouched in front of the seated, bleeding man, perfectly aware of the two members of his squad standing behind their current target, fully prepared to step in if aiding him was required, but for the moment he had it well in hand.

"You could have made this very easy for yourself, you know," he smiled, finding that it tended to have a more pointed effect when he was plainly unbothered by his actions. His hand reached out to rest on the man's shoulder, as though in companionship, though his thumb pressed deeply into the bleeding hole instead.

The scream wasn't exactly something he enjoyed, despite that he allowed his smile to remain. Really, it was annoying and would leave a ringing in his ears for a while, but it meant the pain was at least coming across and their target wasn't in shock.

"I don't... I don't know anything!"

"Oh, but you do," Zemo sighed softly, watching the man sweat and pull weakly at his restraints. "So, I'll ask again. Where is the weapons cache?"

"I don't-" the words were cut off by another scream as Zemo dug his thumb deeper into the wound, his gloved thumb brushing against what he assumed was bone. "I don't know! They've moved it! By now they'll have moved it!"

"Ah, well this is progress. Now then, where was the weapons cache?"

The man's eyes clouded, and Zemo tilted his head, pulling his hand back and shaking his head for a moment, before clicking his tongue in disappointment. "Oh, now now, you'd started to be helpful, and you want to go back on that now? What a shame."

Looking at his second in command, the man stepped forward to unroll a set of tools, rather specific in the display he made of the action. The man in the chair glanced over nervously, but Zemo only continued to smile pleasantly.

He wanted this over with.

"I... what does it matter if they've already moved it?"

"Well, that's not really your business, is it?"

He watched as the target's head drooped slightly, his eyes dropping closed a moment longer than he would've liked and he hummed, shaking his head.

"Ah-ah, don't pass out on me now," he instructed, standing and reaching for a pair of pliers. "We were just getting to the fun part."
