Chapter Text
Eddie had just finished checking on Chris and he had changed into his gym clothes and left the house and got in his truck and drove to where the fight was taking place tonight.
Chris heard his dad leave the house and he pulled the covers off himself and put his shoes on and he then grabbed the house phone and called a taxi.
It only took 5 minutes for Chris to wait and when he greeted the driver the man was a bit hesitate to allow Chris to ride in his taxi but Chris told him that his other dad was meeting him at his place and his father forgot to drop him off as he is a firefighter and he got called into work so the driver said OK but I need to speak to your dad and let him know that you got picked up safely.
Chris told him the address and the driver made sure Chris was comfortable and he closed the door and got in himself and put the address into his sat nav and drove.
The taxi pulls up at Buck's apartment and the driver gets out and he goes around the car and opens the door.
“Ok little man we're here so I need the name of your dad and what number he is” The Taxi Driver says.
Christopher gives him Buck's name and what door number he is and the driver tells Chris to wait in the car and he shuts The door and goes over the buzzers and looks for Buck's name and door number.
After finding the buzzer that says E. Buckley the driver presses it and a minute later a voice speaks over the intercom.
Hello, who is this?” The voice asks.
“Hello, is this Evan Buckley?” The driver asks.
“Yes and again who are you?” Buck asks.
“I'm John and I'm a taxi driver and I have a little boy called Christopher and he says you were expecting him” John says.
Buck is shocked how the hell can Christopher be here and how come he is by himself.
“Yes I'll be right down thank you” Buck says.
John goes back to the car and opens the door for Chris and waits for him to get out and lets him lean against the side of the car and when they see Buck coming Chris waves to him and Buck looks too happy to see him.
“Mr Buckley I'm John I'm so sorry if you were worried” John says.
“I'm OK and it's nice to meet you and thank you for bringing him here and making sure he got here safely” Buck says.
Chris walks over to Buck and hugs him and Buck lifts him up and makes sure he is positioned safely in his arms so that he can carry him into the building.
After thanking the driver again Buck and Christopher head into Buck's Apartment.
Once inside Buck's place he puts Chris on the couch and goes and gets him a blanket and when he comes back he sits in front of the little boy.
“Are you mad?” Chris Asks.
“Chris I'm a little confused and to be honest I'm a little worried right now” Buck says.
“Why?” Chris asked.
“I'm worried about the fact you took a taxi all by yourself to my place and I'm confused as to why you did it and that your dad allowed it to happen” Buck says.
“Dad left the house again and he doesn't know I'm here” Chris says.
“What do you mean your dad left the house again?” Buck asks.
Chris starts to tell Buck everything that has happened and how Eddie has been sneaking out at night and when Christopher sees him in the morning he is covered in bruises and Eddie tells him it's to do with the job but Christopher knows he is lying and Christopher is tired of his dad lying to him.
Buck is shocked by what Chris is telling him and this is not the Eddie he knows and he gets that Eddie is going through a lot but he would never leave his son in the house alone at night and sneak out of the house.
Buck gets Chris something to drink and lets him talk about his feelings and by the time Chris is finished he is nearly falling asleep so Buck picks him up and takes him to his bed and puts him down and puts the covers over him.
Buck heads back down stairs and thinks about everything that he has been told and thinks about what he can do.
Buck makes a decision and he hopes it's the right decision.
Buck takes some sheets out of the closet and makes up his sofa and he lays down and lets himself fall asleep.
The next morning Buck gets up and he has a plan in mind and he gets Christopher up and lets him do his morning stretches and after that is done he gets the boy some breakfast and he is lucky that he has some clothes for Chris to wear that he keeps at his place.
Once Buck and Chris are changed the pair head out and Buck makes sure Chris is safely secure in his Jeep and they head to Eddie's place and once there Buck lets himself in with the key he still has and asks Chris to go and grab his things for school and Chris does as he says.
Buck walks further into the house and he goes towards Eddie's room and he opens the door and sees that he is asleep and Buck can see he is covered in bruises as well.
Buck goes out to the hall and phones Abuela and tells her that he is taking Chris to school but he is leaving Eddie a note but he is going to sign her name and Abuela says that's fine and she knows she will get an explanation soon.
Once Buck has taken Chris to school he heads back to his place and starts to put his plan in motion.
Eddie wakes up and gets out of bed and he goes to wake Chris but once he goes into his room he isn't there so he goes to the dining room and he isn't there either and Eddie starts to panic but once he sees a note on the table and it's from his Abuela saying she took Chris to school as he was still asleep and Eddie relaxed and thanks god for his Abuela.
Eddie's phone goes off and he goes over and sees it's a text giving him the location of where the next fight will take place and at what time.
Eddie texts back saying he will be there.
The rest of the day went by and Eddie didn't do that much and he went and got Chris from school and he got him home and gave him some dinner and let him watch some TV and when it was time for Chris is bedtime he said to his son to go and get changed and after reading to his son and letting his fall asleep and making sure he was asleep he left his room.
Chris pretended to be asleep again but instead of doing what he had done the night before he made sure that once his dad left again he would phone Buck and he would let him know where his dad was.
Eddie left the house and he knows he is risking a lot but he can't seem to stop what he is doing.
Chris hears the door close and he phones Buck who says he will sort things out and to go back to bed as they won't be long until he and his dad are home.
Chris goes back to bed after phoning Buck and he knows Buck would never lie to him.
After getting off the phone Buck grabs his keys and locks the door and heads to his jeep and once inside he opens the find my phone app and looks for Eddie's phone and once he sees it he connects to it and it pulls up the address and Buck drives off.
Buck pulls up to the address and it's not exactly friendly but Buck is determined to get Eddie home.
Buck joined the crowd and he is looking for Eddie and he can't find him.
Buck walks around and he still can't find him and he almost gives up when he hears a voice introducing the next fighter and Buck turns around when he hears Eddie Diaz.
