black sheep, come home

Summary:

Hello again, friend of a friend...
--
Legundo's involuntary trip through the multiverse has landed him in all sorts of predicaments, worlds with hidden dangers or unobvious threats. One thing has been constant, though - he has always been alone, with the exception of the ghosts of his past that h(a)unt him.

Technically, that hasn't changed. It's just gotten infinitely more obvious and infinitely less easy to negotiate with. With Legundo's usual ever-present time limit bearing down on both him and this new unknown, things seem set to unravel... whether or not anyone wants them to.

Notes:

black sheep, come home has been a huge passion project of ours for the past full year, and while it's nowhere near completion at time of writing this note, we're incredibly excited to share it with you anyway! We'll be updating weekly (potentially biweekly) until either we run out of chapters or the work itself is done.

bsch's chapter art is drawn by Fluffy itself. Chapters were beta'd by ThaneZain and Leontids -- we thank them deeply for their support on this absolute behemoth of a story!

Please heed content warnings and disclaimers carefully if this is your first time here, and we hope you enjoy!

Chapter 1: [Disclaimers]

Summary:

But first, a few administrative notes.

Chapter Text

On ratings:

bsch contains no suggestive content, no cursing, and relatively little described gore in the traditional sense, but does contain moderately described violence in a more realistic setting than a typical Minecraft video. It also contains a substantial amount of both canon-typical and canon-atypical horror elements, including a good deal of fantastical body horror; the 100 Days Multiverse is already a series that contains some aspects of horror storytelling, but this fic was written by authors who really like Weird Horror and that definitely shows.

In other words, this fic is marked as Mature to err on the side of caution (and the same goes for its having the Graphic Depictions Of Violence tag). It’s really more of a TV-16 situation than anything else, but AO3 goes straight from T to M, and I’m going to be blunt – I don’t think 13 year olds should read this fic casually. Or 14 year olds. Or most 15 year olds for that matter. That said, if you’re reading this and that isn’t you, I’m trusting your discretion here; it’ll get at least a little bit spooky, so please take proper care to make sure you’re in the right mindset for whatever you’re going to read. Check the work tags, check the individual chapter content warnings (marked with a ▶), ask a friend to skim for you if you’re really unsure – whatever you need to do to take care of yourself.

And seriously, if you’re 14 or younger you really should not be reading this. If you’re a particularly macabre kid and you love horror, might I suggest you read Goosebumps or maybe some old fairy tales? You can come back to this later. It’ll be here. We won’t judge.

On canonicity:

bsch is a fanfiction written about a work of fiction that, as of yet, has not reached completion and has sizable gaps in understanding for a variety of different aspects of canon. Because this is a complete work with an arc, it necessitates making some assumptions about that canon, and possibly even alterations to the known canon.

In some cases, this may mean it lines up uncannily well with plot points that were not known at time of writing. In other cases, this may mean it comes off as hilariously incongruous with newer elements of the canon. Either way, we’re not here to predict the way the story is going; we’re here to tell a story of our own. It doesn’t matter if we’re right or wrong about something – this fic is a crossover, it’s not exactly looking to line up with canon and is especially not looking to take its place.

This is also to say – please don’t let this define fanon! If you disagree with interpretations here, we encourage you to create new ones of your own – in fact, even if you agree with interpretations here, we’d love for there to be more disparate ones! Also if you start claiming things are canon to 100DMV solely because they happen in this fic, I’m going to fight you, sorryyyyy <3

On visibility:

This is a small fandom and it’s fairly inevitable that one or both of the MCYTers in this fic will eventually stumble across it – and in order to prevent this from happening, we’d essentially have to cut off a good portion of the fandom from ever discovering it. That said, we’d prefer this process not be sped along, or eclipse other discussion topics in public. Please do not bring up this fic in stream chats or video comments unless it is explicitly mentioned for some reason, and please do not directly ping or otherwise attempt to directly show this to those MCYTers on Tumblr, Twitter, Discord, or any other social media. There’s a thread for this story in the off-topic forum section of Legundo’s Discord; consider it a containment chamber and a venue for being informed of fic updates.

If you are Legundo or Viking, or any number of Legundo’s editors/VAs/et cetera (hello, Sierra!), the same rules generally apply; we ask that you keep discussion of this fic out of videos, and would prefer less detailed discussion of it onstream and on social media (Tumblr doesn’t count here, it’s hardly public-facing). In addition, the above disclaimers still very much apply; please curate your own experiences accordingly, and understand that bsch was created by fans, for fans, and accordingly treats the characters within as characters completely separate from their actors.

We don’t expect this to be a particularly serious issue, or even to require the level of gravitas with which this disclaimer was written; however, we’ve seen these things happen and worse in other fandoms, so we’ve chosen once more to err on the side of caution.

On a more positive note – if you want to talk about bsch in more detail, especially about things you enjoyed, AO3 does have the option to leave a comment as a guest, which has been left enabled on this fic. As the entry form states, whatever email address you leave will not be published and is essentially only used to notify people if their comments are replied to.
